DAVIS -- Services for Geraldine Ann Hamilton will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Lonny Lee officiating. Interment will be at 4 p.m. at the Corn Cemetery, in Corn, with the Rev. Doyle Kennedy officiating.
Mrs. Hamilton died Aug. 3, 1997, in the Sulphur hospital. She was born Sept. 19, 1933, at Corn, to Curt and Ann Nachtigal Goertzen.
She moved to the Davis area in 1996 and attended First Baptist Church. She was a community health care worker for the Custer County Health Department before she retired. She was the widow of Billie Hamilton, who died in 1990.
Survivors include a daughter, Misty Blackburn, Clinton; a brother, Elmer Goertzen, Davis; and two grandchildren.
Bearers will be Jerry White, Wayne Webb, Buddy Jones, W.T. Young, Terry Church and Dale Noland.
Fox Funeral Home will direct services.
CHEEK -- Services for Velma Naomi Smith will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Country Tabernacle Church in Cheek with the Rev. Wayne Howard officiating. Interment will be at Cheek Cemetery under the direction of Griffin-Kennedy-Watts Funeral Home.
Mrs. Smith died Aug. 4, 1997, in the local hospital. She was born Aug. 16, 1912, at Orr, to Houston and Hester Lena Thornberg.
Married to Raleigh Smith, Sept. 22, 1928, at Cheek, she had lived in the Lone Grove area all her life and was a member of the Country Tabernacle Church. Her husband preceded her in death Nov. 9, 1995.
Survivors include two sons, Gary, Ardmore, and Jerry, Lone Grove; two daughters, Margaret Haywood, Midland, Texas, and Myrna Webb, Claremont, Calif.; five sisters, Barbara Suttle, Santa Paula, Calif., Juanita Davis, Lone Grove, Mattie Howard, Clodell Howard and Beulah Suttle, Ardmore; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be John Smith, Joe Hunter, Mark Wilson, Stanley Welch, Bobby Joe Davis and David Gardner.
THACKERVILLE -- Graveside services for James Melvin Worton Sr., 75, will be at 2 p.m. today at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Thackerville with the Rev. Ron Roper officiating.
Worton died Aug. 6, 1997, at the Marietta hospital. He was born May 14, 1922, at Electra, Texas, to James C. and Lillie Parrish Worton.
An Army veteran of World War II, he was a former truck driver and had lived in Thackerville the past 20 years. He and Mildred Hope Davis were married Nov. 25, 1945, at Electra. He was preceded in death by a brother, Frank.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, James Jr., Nocona, Texas; three daughters, Vickie Reed, Saint Jo, Texas, Janeth Reed and Teresa Prather, Thackerville; a brother, Floyd, Humble, Texas; a sister, Velma Smith, Electra; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Kennedy Funeral Home will direct services.
PROVENCE -- Graveside services for Lois Inez Stidham will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Provence Cemetery with the Rev. Bob Hecter officiating.
Mrs. Stidham died Aug. 5, 1997, in Ardmore. She was born March 15, 1924, at Paris, Ark., to Leslie T. and Ora Knight Dye.
She moved to Ardmore in 1980 from Stockton, Calif., and was an active member of Westgate Christian Center. She and Floyd Stidham were married July 8, 1983, in Ardmore. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Clara Ayers, Ida Dye and Pauline Ayers.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; two daughters, Melba Anglin, Dickson, and Joan Denney, Fox; two sons, Robert Mankin, Chowchilla, Calif., and David Mankin, Stockton; two sisters, Lorene Woodruff, Arizona, and Dorothy Baker, Lodi, Calif.; four brothers, Jimmy Dye, Stockton, L.T. Dye, Arizona, Clayton Dye, Missouri, and Darrell Dye, Twenty Nine Palms, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Craddock Funeral Home will direct services.
Services for Betty Jo Shelton McLemore, 59, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Harvey-Douglas Chapel with the Rev. Donny Custar officiating. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. McLemore died Aug. 5, 1997, in the local hospital following an extended illness. She was born Feb. 4, 1938, at Overbrook, to William T. and Lillian Collins Shelton.
A resident of this area most of her life, she graduated from Plainview High School and was a seamstress and interior designer. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. She and Jim McLemore were married Feb. 4, 1958. He preceded her in death March 24, 1995.
Survivors include a daughter, Sherry Lansdon, Brighton, Ill.; two sons, Gerald, of Dibble, and Wesley "Mike," Newcastle; four brothers, Jesse Shelton, Alex, Worley, W.T. and Willie, Ardmore; five sisters, Melma Chandler, Amarillo, Texas, Izora Lemons, Bakersfield, Calif., Bessie Elliott, Ann Sheehy and Emogean Carter, Ardmore; and six grandchildren.
Nephews will serve as bearers.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Cross Timbers Hospice.
LINDSAY -- Services for former Ardmore resident James M. Coffman, 64, Oklahoma City, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church in Lindsay. Interment will be at Green Hill Cemetery under the direction of Boydston Funeral Home.
Coffman died Aug. 6, 1997, in an Oklahoma City hospital. He was born May 21, 1933, in Creek County.
He was an Army veteran and self-employed petroleum geologist. He and Barbara Ann Holt were married Aug. 5, 1961, at Lindsay.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; a daughter, Kimberly Coffman, Oklahoma City; two brothers, H. Leon, Oklahoma City, and Leroy, Edmond; and three sisters, Mary Ruth Coffman, Nashville, Tenn., Melba Ballard, Middletown, Ohio, and Lois Rickabaugh, Edmond.
RATLIFF CITY -- Graveside services for Tony Len Scott, 38, will be 3 p.m. today at Provence Cemetery with the Rev. Brad Buchanan officiating.
Scott died Aug. 6, 1997, in Ardmore, where he was born Aug. 18, 1958, to John and Thresa Scott. He was a carpenter by trade, and had lived in Ardmore all his life.
Survivors include three brothers, Benny, Jerry and Eddie, and a sister, Tammy, all of Ardmore.
Milburn Funeral Home will direct services.
Graveside rites for Alma James Clevenger, 79, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Lakeview Cemetery with Ray Clevenger officiating.
Born July 18, 1918, in Cleveland to Thomas and Mary Spangler James, she died Aug. 8, 1997, in a local health care facility. She was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
She married Benjamin Clevenger on June 11, 1938, at Argyle, Texas. Mrs. Clevenger had been an Ardmore resident since 1962, moving from Missouri. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; two daughters, Valley Peterson, Ardmore, and Katherine Gwin, Marietta; two sons, Thomas, Gainesville, Texas, and Benjamin Jr., Marietta; one sister, Mary Gourley, Madill; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be grandsons.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home.
MARIETTA -- Services for J.C. Adcock, 67, Burneyville, will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Eastman Baptist Church with the Rev. David Colaw officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow at 2 p.m. at Fort Sill Military Base, Lawton.
Born Oct. 27, 1929, at Maud, Texas, to Hughie James and Fanny Alice Tucker Adcock, he died Aug. 7, 1997, at his home. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Floyd Adcock and Herschel Adcock; and by a sister, Faye Moran.
Adcock had lived at his current residence for the past seven years, moving there from Cedar Hill, Texas. He married Carol Manary on July 28, 1977, at Lake Tahoe, Nev. Adcock was a professional horse trainer and of the Baptist faith. He retired in 1992 from the Dallas County Sheriff's Office as a deputy sheriff. He served 11 years of active duty in the U.S. Marine Corps and retired from the U.S. Army as a staff sergeant in July 1990 for a combined service of 26 years. Adcock served in the U.S. Embassy in China during 1948 as part of the honor guard. Among the service medals he received were Victory Medal of World War II, Korean Service Medial, UN Service Medal, China Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign and the Navy Unit Commendation.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Jim F. and Tammy Adcock, Lake Tahoe, Calif.; stepsons and daughter-in-law, Greg and Shelley Porter, Irving, Texas, and Steven J. Rado, Simi Valley, Calif.; one daughter, Jennifer Adcock, of the home; one stepdaughter, Judy Miltner, Henderson, Nev.; one brother, James Adcock, Lima, Ohio; three sisters, Pauline Beauchamp, Fort Worth, Texas, Ryna Stometta, Washington, and Vera Mae Leddy, Arizona; one sister-in-law, Elva M. Adcock, Grand Prairie, Texas; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Bearers are David Plummer, Greg Porter, Wayne Alexander and James Adcock.
Services are under the direction of Kennedy Funeral Home.
Graveside services for Edna Marie Cummings, 75, Friendswood, Texas, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Rosehill Cemetery with the Rev. Donny Custar officiating.
Born May 1, 1922, at Oakland to Sam and Alice Beatty Wilson, she died Aug. 7, 1997, at Webster, Texas.
Survivors include her husband, Clinton, of the home; one daughter, Sue Johnson, Santa Fe, Texas; one son, Craig, Lamarque, Texas; one brother, Leon Wilson, Ardmore; and four grandchildren.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Craddock Funeral Home.
Services for Pauline Griffin, 79, will be 2 p.m. Monday at Harvey-Douglas Chapel with minister Gene Cormier officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.
Born to Oscar and Ruth Ligon Mitchell on July 22, 1918, at Wilson, she died Aug. 8, 1997 in the local hospital. She married W.A. Austin in 1936 and had two children. He preceded her in death in 1966. She remarried on July 12, 1971, to W. B. Griffin.
Mrs. Griffin had lived in the Ardmore area most of her life. She attended Wilson Schools and was a member of the Memorial Christian Church. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, W.B. Griffin, of the home; one son, Mitch Austin, Ardmore; one daughter, Mrs. Earl Ray (Sue) Mann, Ardmore; six grandchildren, Rick Mann, Steve Mann, Jeff Mann, Paula Mann, Melissa Mann Conway and Holley Austin Schemdt; five grandchildren, Tyler, Riley, Justin, AaRon and Savanna Mann; six stepchildren, Jimmy, Johnny, Debbie, Sharon and Barbara Griffin; and 21 stepgrandchildren.
Bearers are Jimmy Griffin, Robert Griffin, Denny Griffin, Watson Evans, Gary Shipman and Lonnie Harris. Honorary bearers are Gene Bowker, Herschel Ashley, Norman Gooding, Junior Ligon, James Porterfield, Wendall Ritchey, Clark Lane, Warren Henderson, Jere Moser, Ron Elmore and Mike Hisey.
Graveside rites for Ruby Carmel Sullivan, 85, were Saturday at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Ardmore with Bob Smee officiating.
Born Oct. 28, 1911, at Shay, she died Aug. 8, 1997, in a local health care facility. She married Edd Sullivan on July 13, 1929, at Powell. He preceded her in death on Jan. 13, 1976. She was also preceded in death by a son, Troy, Oct. 22, 1989; two brothers, Virgil and Mearl Thompson; and one sister, Mae McAlester.
She and her husband moved from Powell to Dickson, where they owned and operated Sullivan's Cafe for 26 years. She retired in 1976 and moved to Ardmore. Mrs. Sullivan was affiliated with the Church of Christ.
Survivors include one sister, Clifford Bateman, Ardmore.
Services were under the direction of Watts Funeral Home, Madill.
Services for Billy George Trout, 65, will be 2:30 p.m. Monday at Griffin-Kennedy-Watts Chapel with Virgil Trout officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Born Aug. 17, 1931, at Countyline, he died Aug. 8, 1997, at a local hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Orville and Naomi Ruth Trout.
Trout lived in the Ardmore area all of his life. He married Patsy Tice on Aug. 17, 1951, at Healdton. Trout was retired from Samedan Oil Company, where he had worked as a district foreman. He was affiliated with the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; one son, Billy M., Nowata; two daughters, Terry Christian and Sherry Elmore, both Ardmore; one brother, Jimmy, Lebannon; one sister, Patsy McCutchen, Healdton; and five grandchildren.
Bearers are Sammy Creel, Ronnie Byrd, Cecil Johnson, Larry Fore, Larry Davis and Bobby Roberts.
