MADILL -- Services for William Monroe Thompson, 77, were scheduled for 2 p.m. today at Watts Memorial Chapel with David Boutwell officiating. Interment was at Shay Cemetery.
Thompson died Aug. 11, 1997, in the Denison, Texas, hospital. He was born Oct. 21, 1919, at Kingston.
Reared in Shay, he lived in west Texas and New Mexico several years and worked for Santa Fe Railroad before moving to Groom, Texas, to farm. He had lived in the Kingston area since 1962. He was a member of Assembly of God Church. He and Jessie Adkins were married Aug. 5, 1950, in Ardmore.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; three daughters, Peggy Edgmon, Fort Gibson, Judy Beavers, Tishomingo, and Debbie Fincher, Ardmore; a sister, Stella Savage, Kingston; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren.
Bearers were Junior Page, Billy and Bobby Savage, Donald, Odell and Wayne Thompson. Honorary bearers were Ray Armstrong, Aubrey Morgan, Willard Samuel, Dowe Justice, Marvin Cox, Floyd Pickard and Bob Hathaway.
Graveside services for Kathryn Taylor Estes will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Hillcrest Memorial Park with the Rev. Vaughn CrowTipton officiating.
Mrs. Estes died Aug. 12, 1997, in the local hospital. She was born Dec. 3, 1914, at Trenton, Miss., to Melvin and Lula Kelly.
She was a retired grocery clerk, formerly employed by the E-Z Shops. She was a member of Northwest Baptist Church and active in the Adult 1 Sunday School Class. She was the widow of Truman Taylor who died in 1967.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Louise and Douglas Brown; a sister, Ava Dean Bertrand of Jackson, Miss.; granddaughters, Linda Harris and Beverly Solomons of Ardmore; and great-grandchildren, Buddy and Krystal Harris and Austin Solomons.
Honorary bearers will be member of Adult 1 Sunday School Class.
Griffin-Kennedy-Watts Funeral Home will direct services.
LONE GROVE -- Memorial services for James Henry Carter, 79, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in Lone Grove with the Rev. Gill Clark officiating.
Carter died Aug. 12, 1997, in the Ardmore hospital. He was born Feb. 1, 1918, at Burneyville to James and Ruby B. Turner Carter.
Reared at Burneyville, he graduated from Murray State College and received his degree in engineering from Oklahoma State University in 1942. He worked 28 years as a turbine generator engineer for General Electric, then was in fields sales in Jackson, Mich. He retired from the Alice Chalmers Power System in 1983 and moved to Ardmore in 1984. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. He and Vivian Elaine Bruce were married Jan. 31, 1942, at Stillwater.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; three daughters, Janet Carter, Kalamazoo, Mich., Sally Carter, Gallup, N.M., and Cindy Malowney, Inglewood, Calif.; a son, James II, Boulder, Colo.; two sisters, Beryle Moore, Ardmore, and Jean Cole, Midland, Texas; a brother, Turner, Oklahoma City; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 314, Lone Grove, OK 73443; or Valley Hope Rehabilitation Clinic, 100 S. Jones, Cushing, OK 74023.
Services for Randal "Randy" James Rozzell, 29, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the First Christian Church with Dr. Douglas R. Miller officiating. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home.
Rozzell died Aug. 12, 1997, in the local hospital. He was born May 30, 1968, in Ardmore.
He graduated from Ardmore High School in 1987 and was employed by A&A Pump Service. He was a member of First Christian Church. He and Jodye Wilson were married July 16, 1988, in Ardmore.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Randall Scott and Trenton Reese; and daughter, Madison Kaye, all of the home; his parents, Jim and Sandra Rozzell; a brother, Chris K.; and grandmother, Mildred K. Morgan, all of Ardmore.
Bearers will be Billy Wayne Rozzell, Justin Marshall, George Davenport, Mike Rodriguez, Rusty and Eddie Kyle.
Memorials may be made to the fund established at Exchange National Bank for his wife and children, or First Christian Church.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 this evening at the funeral home.
TISHOMINGO -- Services for Albert K. Steele, 78, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Corbin Chapel with the Rev. Joey Lansdale officiating. Interment will be at Tishomingo Cemetery.
Steele died Aug. 12, 1997, in Ardmore. He was born Dec. 9, 1918, at Guthrie Center, Iowa, to William and Frances Keran Steele.
Reared in Guthrie Center, he married Mary Hayes Dec. 12, 1969, at Kimball, Neb., and had lived in Johnston County 22 years. He retired from the Navy after serving 20 years during World War II. He was a member of Tishomingo Community Church, VFW, Shriners, Scottish Rite, York Rite, Royal Arch and Eastern Star Amaranth. He was also past master in Weston Masonic Lodge 22 in Washington, D.C.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; a daughter, Cathy E. Duke, Duncan; two stepsons, Max and Irving Tuck, Littleton, Colo.; three stepdaughters, Carolyn Hilbert, Quesnel, B.C. Canada, Barbara Collier, Prince George, B.C. Canada, and Nancy Colsman, Durango, Colo.; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
GRAHAM -- Services for Nick Bass, 84, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Graham Baptist Church with the Rev. Leon Wise officiating. Interment will be at Graham Cemetery under the direction of Reser Funeral Home.
Bass died Aug. 13, 1997, in a Healdton health care facility. He was born March 12, 1913, at Wirt, to Robert B. and Cynthia Bass.
A resident of this area most of his life, he followed the oil field business working as a driller for Nichols and Duncan Drilling Co. He later worked for Carter County. He was a Mason in the Graham and Healdton lodges and a member of Graham Baptist Church. He and Alpha Briscoe were married April 11, 1935, at Ringling.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Joe R., Elk City; a sister, Lois Parker, McAlester; two grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Birdie Higgins and Addie Pearson; and two brothers, Mark Weese and Lonnie Bass.
Bearers will be Creed Speake, Benny and Richard Hill, Bryan, Howard and Harold Rozzell.
MANNSVILLE -- Services for Ola Andrew Martin Dry, 87, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Mannsville First Baptist Church with Ken McCarthick officiating. Interment will be at Russett Cemetery under the direction of Watts Funeral Home.
Mrs. Dry died Aug. 12, 1997, in the Ardmore hospital. She was born Dec. 18, 1909, at Tishomingo.
Reared at Russett, she married Ernest Frank Dry May 3, 1925, at Madill, and they lived in Russett until 1937 before moving to Mannsville, where they owned and operated a grocery store 30 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church, active in teaching Sunbeams, G.A., R.A, and Y.W.A. missions classes. She was also active in the Johnston and Marshall County Baptist Association, serving as association director six years. She was preceded in death by her husband April 11, 1974; two sons, Donald and Billy; a daughter, Betty Kelley; a sister, Opal Burton; three brothers, Audrey, Lee and Hilrey Martin; a grandson; and great-grandson.
Survivors include two brothers, Jack Martin, Louisville, Ky., and Don Martin, Ada; two sisters, Serena James, Everett, Wash., and Jo Clark, Tishomingo; three grandsons; and six great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be John Brock, Nolen Anderson, Jimmy Edwards, Wes Waggoner, Dan Childs and Lyndal Barnes. Honorary bearers are Doyle Pryor, L.B. Edwards, Ruben Weems, Mutt Cothran, J.E. Marsh and Willie Scaggs.
Graveside services for Judy James, Harrisonville, Mo., will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Hillcrest Memorial Park with the Rev. W.E. Chandler officiating.
Mrs. James died Aug. 12, 1997, in Kansas City, Mo. She was born to Carl W. and Thelma Kelty Atkinson Oct. 9, 1945, in Ardmore.
A 1963 graduate of Ardmore High School, she worked in radio and television, as a disc jockey for KKAJ , and program director for KOCO Channel 5 Television in Oklahoma City. She was a lifelong member of the Nazarene Church and was for many years an active member of the Arbuckle Area Council of Boy Scouts. She lived in Harrisonville, Mo., at the time of her death.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth James Jr., of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenny and Tammy James of Kansas City, Mo., and Matt and Lori James of Osage Beach, Mo.; a brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Pat Atkinson of Killeen, Texas; a sister and brother-in-law, Patsy and Charles Monjarus of Oklahoma City; seven grandchildren; and a great number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 this evening at Craddock Funeral Home.
Services for Wilbert J. Broderius will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Griffin-Kennedy-Watts Chapel with Pastor Keith Spurgin officiating. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Broderius died Aug. 13, 1997, at his residence. He was born Sept. 29, 1914, at Bird Island, Minn.
He served with the Seabees in the Pacific during World War II from 1942 to 1945 and was involved in farming and custom harvesting before he retired in 1989. He had lived in Ardmore since 1974, moving here from Sherman, Texas. He and Dolores Vander Voort were married Feb. 23, 1946, at Olivia, Minn.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Gary, Billings, Mont.; two daughters, Pam Tripi, Dallas, and Charlene Jennings, Colorado Springs, Colo.; and four grandchildren.
Bearers will be Robert Gilliland, David Lock, Herschel Dement, Scotty Williams, Bill Richardson and Henry White.
Memorials may be made to the Children's Shelter, 15 Monroe St., Ardmore.
Services for Birtie Edna Pennington will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Griffin-Kennedy-Watts Chapel with the Rev. Donnie Custar officiating. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mrs. Pennington died Aug. 14, 1997, in the local hospital. She was born July 25, 1922, at Hoxbar, to Hugh and Eula Mae Allen.
A lifetime resident of Ardmore, she married Sidney Pennington Jan. 22, 1971, in Ardmore and, along with her husband, operated Poor Boys Furniture Store. She was also a former health care worker. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and T.O.P.S. Her husband preceded her in death on Aug. 5, 1986.
Survivors include two sons, Gary Cason, McKinney, Texas, and Rick Cason, Terrell, Texas; a daughter, Cheryl Rust, Iowa Park, Texas; a brother, Jerrel Allen, Ardmore; two sisters, Ruby Carpenter and Hughlene Burnett, Ardmore; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded by two brothers, Floyd and Marvin Allen; and sister, Ethel White.
Bearers will be Larry Allen, Mike Johnson, Ron Kyle and Jeff Miller.
DAVIS -- Services for Creed Wayne West will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Davis Methodist Church with Leslie Thompson officiating. Interment will be at Green Hill Cemetery under the direction of Fox Funeral Home.
The baby died Aug. 14, 1997, in an Oklahoma City hospital. He was born Jan. 16, 1997, in Oklahoma City.
Creed is survived by his parents, Randy and Karen West, of the home; grandparents, Betty Hudson and Gene and Floy Hudson, all of Davis, and Judy and Ray West Sr., Quannah, Texas.
Bearers will be Joe Pirkle, Mike Hellack, John Hale and Glen Simonsen.
POWELL -- Services for Robert V. Henson, 78, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Powell Church of Christ with Chris Webb officiating. Interment will be at Powell Cemetery.
Henson died Aug. 14, 1997, at the Oklahoma Veterans Center in Ardmore. He was born March 14, 1919, at Fobb.
A lifetime resident of Marshall County, he married Patsy Herndon April 21, 1942, at Fobb, and was employed 35 years at Madill Manufacturing. He was a veteran, a member of Powell Church of Christ, Disabled American Veterans and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; three sons, Ronald, Powell, Donald, Durant, and Mark, Lone Grove; three brothers, A.F., Fobb, T.F., Durant, and Billy, Duncan; two sisters, Lucille Pierce, Bogalusa, La., and Allene McCain, Sandy Hooks, Miss.; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be Calvin Witcher, Michael, Brandon, Erick, David, Stephen and Ronnie Henson. Honorary bearers will be Wendyl Parrish, Tilford Clement, A.A. Jeffrey and C.F. Eldridge.
Memorials may be made to the Powell Church of Christ.

Services for Emma Ethel Boyer, 91, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Asbury United Methodist Church with the Rev. Roger Wood officiating. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery.
Born Jan. 8, 1906, at Little River County, Ark., to Issac and Richie Sampson Rogers, she died Aug. 15, 1997, at a local hospital following an extended illness. She was married to Orville M. Boyer. He preceded her in death in April 1938. She was also preceded in death by a daughter; Laveta Boyer; three brothers and three sisters.
Mrs. Boyer had lived in the Ardmore area since 1933, moving from Arkansas. She worked as a cook in several area restaurants for many years. Later she worked for Oklahoma Vending Company. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one son, Donald Boyer, Lisbon, Maine; four daughters, Velma Anderson, Indianapolis, Georgia Kallgren, Ocean Pines, Md., Marie Boyer, Tulsa, and Oleta Smith, Belton, Mo.; two brothers, Boone Rogers, Foreman, Ark., and Paul Rogers, Winthrop, Ark.; two sisters, Valentine Lisenby and Ann Rogers, both Foreman; 11 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Asbury Methodist Church.
