Funeral services for Mildred Chesteen Cozby were scheduled for 2 p.m. today at Griffin-Kennedy-Watts Chapel with Dr. Mel Stamback and Dr. Walt Spradling officiating. Interment was at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mrs. Cozby died Aug. 24, 1997, in a local health care facility. She was born April 18, 1916, at Mount Ayr, Iowa.
Daughter of the late W.C. and Minnie Black, she had lived in Ardmore since 1981, coming here from Hemet, Calif. She was a member of CrystalRock Cathedral. She and Elvin James Cozby were married on March 9, 1933, at Albuquerque, N.M. He preceded her in death on May 31, 1994. She was also preceded by a son, Gale Cozby; a brother; and sister.
She is survived by a daughter, Glenda Burkett, and her husband, Travis, of Ardmore; two grandsons and their wives, James and Debbie Burkett of Humble, Texas, and Darryl and Angie Burkett of Ardmore; and three great-grandsons, Adam, Eric and Ryan Burkett.
Bearers were Darryl, James, Sidney and Robert Burkett. Honorary bearers were Adam, Eric and Ryan Burkett.

Darrell D. Jones
Services for Darrell Dawayne Jones will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Children of the King Church with the Rev. Jones and Ted Clark officiating. Interment will be at Clearview Cemetery under the direction of Ragsdale-Grant and Sons Mortuary.
Jones died Aug. 21, 1997, at Vinita after a sudden illness. He was born Dec. 21, 1969, in Denton, Texas.
He was a lifelong resident of Ardmore.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Shelena and Otto Brown; a sister, Scottra Jones, Ardmore; and grandfather, Jimmy Miller, Odessa, Texas.
Rogean E. Turner
ENVILLE -- Services for Rogean Elaine Turner, 53, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Enville Community Church with the Rev. Hubert Sponsler officiating. Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery under the direction of Kennedy Funeral Home.
Mrs. Turner died Aug. 26, 1997, in the local hospital. She was born Sept. 2, 1943, at Winfield, Kan.
She had lived in Marietta the past five years.
Survivors include a son, Troy, Marietta; two daughters, Kim Turner, Marietta, and Jeania Davis, Winfield; her mother and stepfather, Madoline and Jack Heffner, Winfield; four brothers, Buddy Widener, Kansas, Butch Kelly, Winfield, Darrell and Gerrell Widener, Ennis, Texas; her stepmother, Blanche Widener, Ennis; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Earl Widener, in 1981; and a brother, Sonny Widener, in 1996.
Bearers will be Mike Cook, James McCrory, Blake Blankenship, Melvin, Jimmy and Archie Turner. Dr. Tom O'Connor is honorary bearer.
Pauline H. Shores
REXROAT -- Services for Pauline Helen Shores, 79, longtime Wilson resident, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Rexroat Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul Phipps and Dr. Tom Bledsoe officiating. Interment will be at Hewitt Cemetery under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home.
Mrs. Shores died Aug. 27, 1997, at her home after an extended illness. She was born Oct. 28, 1917, at Graham to Lena L. Jackson Martin and Frank Martin Sr.
She moved from Graham to Wilson as a young girl and married Curtis Lee Shores there March 25, 1934. They lived in New Mexico, Texas and in New Orleans 12 years before returning to Wilson. She was a member of Rexroat Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Ann Shores; a sister, Alta Dillard; and two brothers, Amie R. and Frank Martin Jr.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; a daughter, Donna L. Bledsoe, Augusta, Ga.; a son, Ronald F., Wilson; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be Herbert Horn, David and J.W. Shores, Rayford Way, Benny Cartwright and Robert Holloway. Honorary bearers are Dave and Jack Shores, Larry Stearns and David Hull.
Sydney V. Spearman
Services for Sydney V. Spearman, 96, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Harvey-Douglas Chapel with the Rev. Robert D. Lee officiating. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Spearman died Aug. 28, 1997, in Denton, Texas. She was born Sept. 29, 1900, at Nacogdoches, Texas, to John and Beulah Rhodes Hayes.
She graduated from nursing school at Scott-White Hospital in Temple, Texas, in 1919 and married William Ford Spearman Jan. 24, 1921, at Belton, Texas. They moved from Port Arthur, Texas, to Ardmore in 1924 and she worked at area hospitals and in doctors' offices. She was past president of American Legion Auxiliary and was active at First Orthodox Baptist Church, teaching, singing and playing piano.
Survivors include three daughters, Betty Carroll, Denton, Doris Alexander, Grapevine, Texas, and Dorothy Rust, Greenville, S.C.; two sons, Bill, Carollton, Texas, and Jim, Norman; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Muriel Guyton, in January 1997.
Bearers will be Stephen Carroll, Kirk Alexander and Glenn Guyton.
Memorials may be made to the First Orthodox Baptist children's department.
Jack Elmore, SFC retired
LAWTON -- Services for Jack Elmore, retired Army SFC, 84, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Baptist Church in Lawton. Interment with full military honors will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Elmore died Aug. 28, 1997, in the Lawton hospital. He was born Sept. 3, 1912, at McKinney, Texas.
He was reared in Texas and married to Fannie Risner July 31, 1946, in Ardmore. He joined the Army in 1937 and served with the 3rd Armored Division in the Battle of the Bulge, receiving two Purple Hearts. He served in the military 30 years before he retired in 1968, and was awarded numerous medals, badges and ribbons.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; a daughter, Janice Jones, Elgin; a brother, Don, Austin, Texas; two sisters, Billye M. Briscoe, Ardmore, and Elizabeth Payne, Dallas; and a granddaughter.
Memorials may be made to Trinity Baptist Church, 1916 W. Gore, Lawton, OK 73501.

Walter William McBride
MADILL -- Walter William McBride died Aug. 28, 1997, at the Durant hospital. No services are scheduled.
Born Nov. 17, 1911, at Boise City to John and Alice Reed McBride, he was reared at Simon. He moved to Rubottom and later to California before moving back to Rubottom and then to Kingston in 1990. He married Ruth Ice on Nov. 11, 1990, at California. McBride had been a big game guide. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; two daughters, Becky Schock and Alice Downs, both California; a half sister, Opal McMillan, Ardmore; six grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Cremation was under the direction of Watts Funeral Home.
Jarrett 'Jack' Hendrix
TISHOMINGO -- Services for Jarrett "Jack" Hendrix, 90, were Saturday at Corbin Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Leon Sutterfield officiating. Interment followed in Tishomingo Cemetery.
Hendrix died Aug. 28, 1997, in Tishomingo, where he was born June 20, 1907, to Henry E. and Minnie L. Hallmark Hendrix. He married Grace Louise Brewer on Aug. 9, 1930, at Tishomingo. She preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sybol Lois Hendrix; one son, John Earnest Hendrix; two sisters, Odessa Biggs and Lillian Hendrix; one brother, Kenneth Hendrix; and a granddaughter.
Hendrix worked for the Ada Milling Company for 30 years. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene at Kerrville, Texas.
Survivors include one son, Dean Hendrix, Walnut Creek, Calif.; one daughter, Karen R. Murrell, Katy, Texas; two sisters, Opal Potts, Ada, and Vivian Jordan, Troy; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Bearers were Dan Murrell, Steve Murrell, Jay Graham, Dean Cuchia and Amir Currimbloy.
Ruby McGilvray Bond
GAINESVILLE, Texas -- Services for Ruby McGilvray Bond, 85, will be 2 p.m. today at Clement-Keel Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Steve Saville and Murray McMurray officiating. Interment will follow at New Hope Cemetery.
Born Jan. 19, 1912, in Grayson County, Texas, to C.C. and Zula King McGilvray, she died Aug. 29, 1997, at the Gainesville hospital. She married Bill Bond in September 1928 in Cooke County, Texas. He preceded her in death in 1991.
Mrs. Bond was a retired seamstress and member of Grace Friendship Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy Teafatiller, Thackerville, and Sandra Morris, Marietta; one son, Clyde, Gainesville; three brothers, Fred McGilvray, Fort Worth, Texas, Johnny McGilvray, Gainesville, and James McGilvray, Mississippi; four sisters, Lula Edwards, Noble, Bessie Huey, Gainesville, Ina Allen, Fort Worth, and Irma McGilvray, Gainesville; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Lillie Faye Royal
Graveside services for Lillie Faye Royal, 77, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Nelda Cemetery with the Rev. Randy Davis officiating.
Born May 22, 1920, at Provence to Ben and Mary Addlein Hinshaw, she died Aug. 28, 1997, at a local health care facility. She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Lee Royal in 1985. She was also preceded in death by a son, Gary, 1994; and a brother, Richard Hinshaw, 1992.
Mrs. Royal lived in Ardmore all of her life. She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include three sons, Bennie and Randy Royal, Ardmore, and Jimmy Royal, Denton, Texas; three daughters, Venita Royal and Kathy Davis, both Ardmore, and Sue Suggs, Sulphur; one sister, Till Maye Rabe, Lone Grove; 24 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Honorary bearers are grandsons.
Services are under the direction of Griffin-Kennedy-Watts Funeral Home.
Virgil Lee White
TISHOMINGO -- Graveside rites for Virgil Lee White, 67, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Tishomingo City Cemetery with the Rev. Lisa Crone officiating. Full military rites will be conducted by the U.S. Navy.
Born Feb. 16, 1930, at Mitchell, S.D., to Harold V. and Lois A. Cecil White, he died Aug. 30, 1997, at Ardmore.
White married Christene Whitlock on June 5, 1953, at Norman. He had served with the U.S. Navy for 20 years and with T.R.W. Aerospace in California for 25 years. He was a member of the Naval Fleet Reserve and R.E.A.C.T. White was a member of the United Methodist Church. He had lived in Johnston County for 3ð years.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; one daughter, Darlene Thomas, Tishomingo; two sisters, Delores Mucci, Island Park, Idaho, and Faye Arnett, Durango, Colo.; and one granddaughter.
Services are under the direction of Corbin Funeral Home.
Wilma Jean Wilson Meador
IRVING, Texas -- Services for Wilma Jean Wilson Meador, 65, were Saturday at MacArthur Boulevard Baptist Church. Graveside services followed at 4 p.m. at Resthaven Memorial Cemetery, Shawnee.
Born June 15, 1932, at Gravelly, Ark., she died Aug. 27, 1997, at Irving.
Survivors included her husband, the Rev. John M. Meador Sr., Irving; two sons, Matthew W., Decatur, Texas, and John M. Jr., Irving; two sisters, Treva Pennington, Madill, and Marguerite Marsh, Ardmore; two brothers, Glen Wilson, Mannsville, and Tom Wilson, Riverside, Calif.; and six grandchildren.
Memorials can be made to the Wilma Meador Scholarship Fund (a retreat ministry for women) through MacArthur Boulevard Baptist Church, Irving, Texas.
Services were under the direction of Donnelly's Colonial Funeral Home, Irving.
Shirley Langley
GRAHAM -- Funeral services for Shirley Langley, 61, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the First Baptist Church. The Rev. Raymond Bailey and the Rev. Leon Wise will officiate with interment in Mount Olive Cemetery of Healdton.
Mrs. Langley died Saturday night at her Graham home after an extended illness.
The daughter of Doyle Seals and Dorothy Plowman Reeder, she was born Nov. 25, 1935, in Rocky Ford. She married Coy Langley on Aug. 5, 1968, in Gainesville, Texas, and had lived in Ardmore and the Graham area 30 years.
With her husband, Mrs. Langley owned and operated Langley's Restaurant in Ardmore several years. She also had done bookkeeping, was a homemaker and was a caregiver to numerous family members and friends. She was a member of First Baptist Church and worked for the Carter County Election Board at Precinct 53.
Survivors include her husband of the home; three daughters and a son-in-law, Joyce Watt, Lawton, Jeannie and Tommy Butler, Roosevelt, and Sharon Brown, Springer; a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Jean Brown, New Tripoli, Pa.; her step-father, Max Reeder, Chickasha; four sisters, Lois McQuahe, California; Imogene Brewer, Killeen, Texas; Dottie Lashley, Norman, and Judy Steagall, Garden City, Kan.; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, brothers- and sisters-in-law and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister and an infant son, Jimmie.
Bearers will be grandsons, Greg and Casey Hawkins, Chad and David Hanley and Tim Wheeler, and a nephew, Darren Langley. Honorary bearers will be grandsons Billy and Jamey Brown.
