Graveside services for Frank Schmidt, age 74 of Bethany, formerly of Clinton, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Clinton Cemetery.
Schmidt died Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, at the Countryside Nursing Home in Warner. He was born on April 24, 1930 in Clinton, the son of Frank Cobb and Susie Erickson.
At a young age he contracted polio and was disabled for the rest of his life. He enjoyed working with his hands at carpentry.
Schmidt was saved, baptized and became a member of the First Baptist Church of Clinton in 1997. He enjoyed reading the Bible.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Kiesau-Marler Funeral Home in Clinton.
Survivors include his cousins, Bill and Mary Leppke, Beatrice Kroeker, Tony Wallace, all of Weatherford, Erma Laws, Gilbert Klemme, Paul Klemme, Kenneth Klemme, Don Klemme, Joyce Austin, all of Oklahoma City; and dear friends, Lucy Kelley, Otha Lee Kelley and Pat and Barney Brown.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
Johnson dies at 2:22 pm
Funeral services for Clennen O. “Johnny” Johnson, age 79 of Dill City, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Plains Avenue Church of Christ in Dill City with Truman Teel officiating.
He died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004, at the Elkview General Hospital in Hobart. He was born on March 1, 1925 southwest of Dill City, the son of William Oscar and Magnolia Nay (Neeley)-Johnson.
Interment in the Sentinel Cemetery is under the direction of the McClure Funeral Home in Cordell.

Funeral services for Rhiney Graf, 83, longtime farmer and civic leader in the Corn area, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Mennonite Brethren Church in Corn.
Graf died Friday afternoon, July 23, 2004, in an Oklahoma City hospital from injuries received that morning when the tractor he was driving was hit by a truck on State Highway 152 south of Corn.
Born March 27, 1921, at Henrietta, Texas, he was the son of Karl and Magdalena (Stuckle) Graf. He graduated from Henrietta High School in 1939 and later attended North Texas University in Denton, Texas, and machinist school in Dallas, Texas.
Graf was an Army veteran of World War II.
On Dec. 28, 1947, he married Annie Lee Gossen at Corn. They lived in Texas with his parents for six months, then bought the home place near Corn from his wife’s uncle, Henry Vogt, in the summer of 1948. They had lived there since, raising wheat, alfalfa, cotton and cattle.
They also ran a dairy from 1950 until 1971, and he went on wheat harvest for many years.
Graf joined the Corn Mennonite Brethren Church in 1949 and taught adult Sunday school classes for more than 50 years. While raising his children, he led family devotionals each Saturday night. The family also had morning Bible readings and prayer.
A member of the Corn Bible Academy board, Graf served five years as chairman. He was a church deacon for 16 years and church moderator for 10 years.
He also served on the board and senate of Tabor College, on the Southern District board of trustees, and as member and chairman of the Corn Heritage Village board of directors.
Graf enjoyed gardening, working with his peach and pecan trees, woodworking, and fishing with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Annie Lee Graf, of the home; one daughter, Jolene Thiessen (and her husband Leon), of Fresno, Calif.; three sons, Harlan Graf (and wife Betty), San Ramon, Calif., Dr. Lyndon Graf (and wife Debbie), Marlow, and Mark Graf (and wife Vonda), Corn; grandchildren Ryan and Dr. Melissa Thiessen, Shawna and Phillip Weathers, Jason and Sheri Graf, Nathan and Amy Graf, Andrea Graf, Dr. Tristan and Dr. Kathy Graf, Gatz Graf, Diana Graf, Mitchell Graf, Marissa Graf and Micah Graf; two great-grandchildren, James and Samantha Graf; two brothers, Albert Graf, Henrietta, Texas, and Marvin Graf (and wife Beth), Wichita Falls, Texas; and one sister, Elsie Strange (and husband Gene), Vienna, Va.
Graf was preceded in death by two brothers, Arnold and Raymond Graf; one sister, Zelma Graf; and a sister-in-law, Louise Graf.
Burial will be in the Mennonite Brethren Cemetery at Corn under direction of Kiesau Marler Funeral Home of Clinton.
Christensen services set at 1:30 pm
Funeral services for Sherri Lynn Christensen, age 56 of Corn, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Mennonite Brethren Church in Corn with Rev. Ken Gardner officiating.
She grew up in Westminster, Colo., a suburb of Denver.
Married to Evert Christensen on Aug. 4, 1967, she worked with toddlers in a daycare for 17 years.
Upon retirement in 1997, she moved with her husband to Corn. She enjoyed painting, arts and crafts. She decorated downtown Corn with flowers.
They enjoyed traveling in their trailer to Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado and many other places.
Interment will be in the Mennonite Brethren Cemetery at Corn under the direction of the Kiesau-Marler Funeral Home in Clinton.
Survivors include her husband, Evert Christensen of the home; a daughter, Dana Horner and her husband, Mark, of Rio Vista, Texas; brothers, Gary Parsons and his wife, Carol, of Keller, Texas, Ron Parsons and his wife, Dolly, of Jefferson, Colo.; sisters, Deanna Benson and her husband, Leonard, of Denver, Colo., Jan Burden and her husband, Tom, of Kiowa, Colo., Kim Mattingly and her husband, Mike, of North Glen, Colo.; a brother-in-law, Keith Christensen and his wife, Sally, of Whitefish, Mont.; sister-in-law, Lucy Megli and her husband, Orville, of Weatherford, Dorothy Johnson of Avadale, Ariz., May Christensen of Fairbanks, Alaska, Walter Christensen and his wife, Sandy, of Novato, Calif.; and three grandchildren, Josh, Naomi and Hanna Horner.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services for Victoria M. Lewis, age 43 of Norman, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 26, in the Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Mucker and Rev. Jealdean Carr officiating.
Lewis died unexpectedly Thursday, July 22, 2004, at Norman Regional Hospital. She was born on Oct. 27, 1960 in Clinton, the daughter of Lee James and Willie Mae (Smith) Jones.
She grew up in Clinton and attended Clinton High School, moving to Kansas where she met and married Frank Lewis in 1980.
Her husband was in the Army so the couple traveled extensively, living in Germany for four years.
She moved back to Clinton in 2000 and to Norman in 2001. While in Clinton she worked as a nurse’s aide at the former Highland Park Manor.
Preceding her in death were her father in 1986 and a brother, David Smith.
Survivors include her parents, Nolan and Willie Mae Randle; a daughter, Amelia Wooden of Norman; her companion of three years, Melvin Igner; five brothers, Floyd Jones, Ralph Jones, Nolan Randle, Jr., Nathaniel Randle, Kevin Randle, all of Clinton; and a grandchild.

Graveside rites for Wesley Howe “Red” Campbell, age 64 of Perkins, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Perkins Cemetery.
Campbell died at a Grace Living Center. He was born on Oct. 11, 1939 at Enfield, Ill., the son of Whel Edison and Sarah Lena (Sanders) Campbell.
He married Jeralyn Hilbert, and they later divorced.
After attending Ripley High School where he graduated in 1959, he worked in the oil field and attended Oklahoma State University, earning an associate degree in engineering.
He then worked for Ralph’s Packing in Perkins for several years before beginning a job with Lincoln Life Insurance for six years.
Later he worked with the King-Lindsey Allis Chalmers dealership in Cordell until his retirement in 1991.
Campbell loved to hunt, fish and do woodwork. He also was a great storyteller.
Preceding him in death, along with his father, was a brother, Allen Dale Campbell.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Strode Funeral Home in Stillwater.
Survivors include his mother Sarah Lena Campbell; two sons, Wesley C. Campbell and his wife, Donita, of Clinton, Timothy W. Campbell and his wife, Diana, of Weatherford; a daughter, Jerri (Shelly) Harris and her husband, Kevin, of Drumright; six grandchildren, Jennifer Campbell, Laramie Campbell, Christopher Campbell, Robbie Harris, Justin Salinas, Trevor Harris; three brothers, Donald Lee Campbell and his wife, Patsy, of Indiana, Whel Edison Campbell Jr. and his wife, Janie, of Indiana, Leonard Henry Campbell and his wife, Rhonda, of Indiana; three sisters, Alice Janell Hall of Perkins, Phyllis Jane Dotter and her husband, Lee, of Wellston, Marlena Belle Hodson and her husband, Mark, of Carney.

Funeral services for Lori Leann Ricketts, age 38 of Weatherford, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Emmanuel Baptist Church at Weatherford with Rondal Kilgore officiating.
Ricketts died Friday, July 16, 2004, at Deaconess Hospital in Oklahoma City. She was born on Feb. 2, 1966 in Oklahoma City, the daughter of Robert and Fleda (Bradley) Anderson.
She was reared and attended school in Weatherford, graduating from Weatherford High School in 1989.
On Dec. 22, 2002 she married Mike Ricketts in Weatherford, and they made their home and reared their family there. She enjoyed listening to music and fishing.
Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery at Weatherford under the direction of the Lockstone Funeral Home in Weatherford.
Survivors include her husband, Mike, of the home; her parents, Fleda Anderson and Raymond Fulwider of Weatherford, Bob Anderson and his wife, Iola, of Clinton; four sons, Matthew, Travis, Dakota and Joshua Duree of Weatherford; and two brothers, Bob Anderson of Tupelo an Steve Anderson of Glendive, Mont.

Funeral services for Bill Kenney, age 59 of Yukon and a native of Clinton, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Smith & Turner Mortuary chapel at 201 E. Main in Yukon.
Kenney died Tuesday, July 13, 2004, at Oklahoma City. He was born on July 28, 1944 in Clinton and had been living in Yukon for the past 35 years after having moved there from Calumet.
Kenney owned and operated B&L Yard Service. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and gardening.
Burial will follow in the Yukon Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Rosemary, of the home; sons, Larry Kenney of Oklahoma City, Billy Kenney of Moore, Larry Buss of Yukon; daughters, Sandra Stevens of Bethany, Lisa Hilderbrand of Bethany, Michelle Salerno of Huntersville, N.C.; his mother, Pauline Kenney of El Reno; a brother, LeRoy Kenney of Bryan, Texas; a sister, Pat Dalrymplle of Ardmore; eight grandchildren; and a great granddaughter.
Services set for Upchurch at 12:11 pm
Upchurch died Monday, Aug. 16, 2004, at Integris Clinton Regional Hospital. He was born on April 4, 1928 in Custer City, the son of Ernest L. and Mabel (Muno) Upchurch.
Having spent his early years in Clinton and Indianapolis, he attended school at Indianapolis.
Upchurch served in the U.S. Air Force from 1946 until 1948 during the Korean War.
He married Mary Olive “Polly” Castoe. She preceded him in death in 1977.
After his military service, Upchurch returned to Clinton and had worked for the Department of Transportation, the U.S. Post Office and Jett Distributing.
He retired in 1995 and spent his free time woodworking, fishing and being with his family.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Lometa Ayers; and a brother, Dwight Upchurch.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Stanley-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton.
Survivors include three sons, Tommy of Oklahoma, Danny and his wife, Connie, of Madison, Wisc., Paul of Anchorage, Alaska; his fiancé Jo Ann Butler of Clinton; two brothers, Dale Upchurch and his wife, Joan, of Clinton, J.C. Upchurch and his wife, Doris, of Bowie, Texas; five sisters, Dorotha Woodall of Sedalia, Mo., Ernestine Morrison of Bowie, Texas, Bobbie James of Burns Flat, Ellen Munkres and her husband, Ernie, of Dumas, Texas, June Burton of Weatherford, Texas; a sister-in-law, Ann Upchurch of Saginaw, Texas; a brother-in-law, Marvin Ayers of Arizona; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Ray Teeter rites Friday at 12:10 pm
Funeral services for Raymond W. Teeter, age 75 of Foss, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the Meacham Memorial Chapel of the First Baptist Church in Clinton with Rev. Doug Lewis officiating.
Reared in the Stafford area, he started farming at a young age and also began operating a bulldozer before he finished high school.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1951 and served in the Korean War, receiving Secret Service clearance and serving in Hawaii, Fort Jackson, S.C., Fort Reno and Korea — even witnessing atomic bomb testing.
He married the former Miss Leona Weibe on June 7, 1952 in Clinton before ending his military career in 1954.
The couple moved to Arlington, Texas where he was employed at the GM plant until 1956.
At that time they moved back to Stafford and lived on the family farm. He owned and operated a dairy where they sold their milk to Gold Spot for several years.
He also had the opportunity to go to night school and further his education on the G.I. Bill.
Teeter had worked for Ford Tractor Co., Kellwood and was employed by Custer County at the barn in Butler from 1980 until his retirement in about 2000. He continued his farming operation until recently.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Preceding him in death, along with his parents, was a sister, Arleva Pearl Teeter.
Burial will conclude in the Stafford Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Lloyd Richard Teeter of Foss, Ralph Ellis Teeter and his wife, Sheri, of Butler; two brothers, George Teeter of Oklahoma City, David Teeter and his wife, Mary, of Dallas, Texas; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and an uncle, R.C. Teeter of Hobart.

Funeral services for Sophie Klause, age 90 and a longtime Clinton resident, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First Church of God in Clinton with Brother Roy Dobbs officiating.
Klause died late Saturday, Aug. 14, 2004, at the Corn Heritage Village. She was born on Aug. 9, 1914 at Hillsboro, Kan., the daughter of Adolf and Anna (Block) Klause.
She moved with her family at the age of four to a farm east of Bessie, attending school at New Hebron and later graduating from Corn Bible Academy.
At the age of 18 she developed arthritis in her hands and ankles. When her father built a new house in Clinton in 1948 she moved with them. She began working at the Clinton Laundry & Cleaners doing alterations, a job she held for 33 years.
She was an accomplished seamstress, doing sewing and alterations in her home for the public and local dress shops.
Klause lived in the house her father built until failing health forced her to move to the nursing home earlier this year. She was a faithful member of the First Church of God.
Preceding her in death, along with her parents, were her sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth Schmidt and her husband, Robert, and Louise Penner and her husband, John.
Burial will conclude in the Union-Hatchett Cemetery north of Bessie under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home of Clinton.
Survivors include a niece, Judy Goertz and her husband, Jack, of Bremerton, Wash.; four nephews, Loren and Janie Penner of Corn, Delbert and Pat Penner of Weatherford, Ed and Catherine Penner of Salida, Colo. and Norman and Lucy Penner of Boypen, Iowa.

Graveside services for Ray Stanley Upchurch, age 76 of Clinton, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Chapel Hill Cemetery southeast of Clinton with Jeanette Stewart officiating.
Teeter died Tuesday morning, Aug. 17, 2004, in the same house he was born in on the family farm. He was born on Aug. 8, 1928 on the family farm near Stafford west of Clinton, the son of David H. and Winnifred (Loughmiller) Teeter.
