Funeral services for Effie Ellie Colvin, age 86 of Carnegie, were held this afternoon at the Pitcher-Hackney Funeral Home Chapel in Carnegie with Rev. Doug Lewis of Clinton officiating.
She married Otto Colvin on March 4, 1935 at Cowden. She was a homemaker and a member of Carnegie Senior Citizens.
Survivors include a son, Ronald Colvin and his wife, Pat, of Clinton; four grandchildren, Stacy Clothier and her husband, Kevin, of Burns Flat, Gregory Colvin of Moore, Cheryl Rogers and Tammy Hardaker and her husband, Guy, all of Edmond; seven great grandchildren; a sister, Mozelle Lynskey of Rowlett, Texas; two brothers, Billy Ellis of Freona, Darrell Ellis of Lubbock, Texas; a son-in-law, Joe Tate and his wife, ElDea, of Oklahoma City; special friends, Ron and Janet Greer of Carnegie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Otto; a son, Richard Dale; a daughter, Leta Ray Tate; three brothers, Lowell, Kinneth, Richard; and a sister, Viola.
Ronal Price funeral held at 1:16 pm
Funeral services for Ronal Dale Price, age 66 of Burns Flat, were held Saturday at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Burns Flat with Duawn Mearns officiating.
A 1957 graduate of Burns Flat High School where he was class salutatorian, he attended Southwestern State College in Weatherford where he began his musical career as “Ronnie Price and the Velvets.”
He pursued his career in music in Oklahoma City, Nashville, Tenn. and Dallas, Texas and was well known as a songwriter, performing artist, producer and studio musician.
He and his four younger brothers performed under various names including The New Breed, Fantastics, Good News and Skwydro-Heegie.
Throughout the late 70’s and early 80’s Ron and His brothers toured the world while performing with Roy Orbison.
During his career, recordings were made of Ron’s songs by such artists as Glen Campbell, Orbison and Trader Price.
Price suffered a stroke in 1990 after which he lived with his wife, Corky, and their son, Sean Patrick, in Burns Flat until his most recent illness.
Survivors include his wife, Corky and their son, Sean, of the home; sons, Ron Junior of Henryetta, Darrin Scott of Los Angeles, Calif., Marc David of Dallas, Texas; a daughter, Dirina Raquel Price of Dallas, Texas; his mother, Noma Mae; three brothers, Dan, Erick, Chris; five grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his brother, Regi; and his father, Clyde.

Graveside services for Coy C. “Barney” Tackitt, age 87 of Clinton, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Clinton Cemetery with minister Pat Peters officiating.
Tackitt died Friday, Dec. 17, 2004, at his home. He was born on Nov. 16, 1917 at Duncan, the son of John Milton and Elnora Jackson (Cummings) Tackitt.
Reared in Clinton, he moved to California as a young man and worked as a superintendent contractor before retiring in 1992 and returning to Clinton.
Preceding him in death were his parents and six brothers and sisters. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Stanley-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton.
Survivors include his wife, Ollie Gertrude Tackitt of the home; a daughter, Patricia Ann Gilmore of Larksburg, Calif.; a son, B. Barkley Tackitt of Phoenix, Ariz.; two grandsons, Mark Brian Tackitt of Seattle, Wash., Christopher Ryan Tackitt of Clinton; two great grandchildren; two sisters, Zella Mae Stratton of Clinton, Jessica Carroll of San Antonio, Texas; and a brother, Wes Tackitt of Paradise, Calif.
Visitation will begin at noon Sunday and continue until 8 p.m.
Cates rites set at 1:19 pm
Funeral services for Pauline Cates, 84-year-old retired grocery store owner from Leedey, were scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday in the First Baptist Church at Leedey.
Cates died Friday, Dec. 17, 2004, at Elk City.
Tompkins dies at 1:18 pm
Graveside services for Louise Tompkins, age 86 of Altus, were held Friday afternoon at the Port Cemetery with Rev. Marvin Kehl officiating.
She attended college at Weatherford and worked in the medical field for several years, living at Moore, Cordell and Sentinel before moving to Altus.

Maggard was shot to death on Monday, Dec. 13, 2004, at Colony as reported Tuesday in the Daily News. He was born on Dec. 25, 1960 in Norman, the son of Jasper Vernon and Betty Loetta (Camp) Maggard.
After spending his early years in Norman, El Reno and Midwestern Wyoming, Maggard joined the Army in 1974 during the Vietnam War.
After his discharge he returned to El Reno and did carpentry work.
He had worked in the oilfields in Oklahoma and Wyoming before moving to Colony this past April. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his wife, Mary, a daughter, Carrie Arnes Maggard and a son, Creydo Maggard, all of the Colony home; his parents, Vernon and Betty Maggard, and two sisters, Glenda Sue Dees and Mary Beth Bridges, all of Sulphur.
Joan Sloate services set at 1:53 pm
A second service is planned for Friday at the Rural Church of the First Born at DeWitt, Ark. Thomas Longnecker and David Watkins will be officiating.
There will be visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Essex Funeral Home in DeWitt. Burial will be at the Thompson Cemetery in DeWitt.
Sloate was born on June 30, 1930 in Palestine, Texas, the daughter of Claude and Bertie (Paddy) Jarrard.
She grew up and attended school in Athens, Texas. On March 23, 1948 she married Milton Elijah Sloate in DeWitt, Ark.
They moved to Pine Bluff, Ark. in 1964 where they owned and operated a salvage business until 1987.
The following year they moved to Weatherford. She was a housewife and a midwife for the church.
They enjoyed studying the Bible.
Survivors include young man Zachary Sewell Longnecker of Dallas, Texas; a sister, Mary Helen Price and her husband, David; a niece, Gale Price; a nephew, Britt Price and his wife, Brenda; and two great nephews, Casey Price of Athens, Texas, Scott Price of Denton, Texas.
Preceding her in death were her parents and her husband, who died on March 1996.
Crain rites at Dill City at 1:50 pm
He was born Sept. 17, 1932, at Sallisaw, the son of Alfred Crain and Ader Wann.
Survivors include eight children and their spouses: Raymond Crain and wife Patricia, Janice Adams and husband Jack, and Tonja Harrison and husband Charles, all of Dill City; Mary Sikes and husband Perry, Clinton; Alfred Crain and wife Pearilee, Dill City; Dana Wann and husband Ronald, Clinton; Jimmy Crain and wife Miranda, Burns Flat; and Crystal Coots and husband Darrell, Dill City.
Also surviving are four sisters, Myrtle, Dorothy, Christine and Florence; one brother, Leonard; more than 50 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.
Crain was preceded in death by his wife, Donna; one son, Thomas James Crain; his parents, Alfred and Ader Crain; two brothers, Jany and Bud Wann; one sister, Addie; and an infant grandson.
Services are under direction of Jack Loftiss Funeral Home of Cordell.

Bozarth died Sunday, April 3, 2005, at Altercare of Navarre in Ohio. He was born on Aug. 17, 1925 in Custer City, the son of Harry and Lillie E. (Fisher) Bozarth.
He retired from Weyerhaeuser in Southern California where he lived most of his life. He was a foreman in the company’s shipping department for 35 years.
Bozarth was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army and was a member of American Legion Post 221.
He enjoyed refurbishing homes for resale, gardening and working in his flower garden.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ellen Daniel; a brother, Kenneth Bozarth; brothers-in-law, Bernard Pizzino and John Pizzino, Sr.; and a sister-in-law, Josephine Embid.
The Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home at 1100 Wales Road NE, Massillon, OH 44646 (telephone 330-833-4839) is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret (Pizzino) Bozarth; a brother, Leon Bozarth of Houston, Texas; sisters-in-law, Ane Schopp of Canton, Ohio, Alma Boerner and Gloria Cicchinelli, both of Massillon, Ohio; brothers-in-law, Ned Pizzino and Anthony Pizzino, both of Masillon, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.
The family suggests that those who desire may make memorial contributions in Bozarth’s honor to the Alzheimer Association, 4815 Munson Street NW, Canton, OH 44718 or to the donor’s favorite charity.

She married Aubrey Stowers. Preceding her in death, along with her parents and husband, were a son, Gene Stowers and his wife, Bette; a sister, Anne Jefferes; and a brother, Dr. Charles Van Goder.
Survivors include sons, Dan Stowers and his wife, Linda, of Tampa, Fla., Bill Stowers of Oklahoma City, Dick Stowers of Cordell; grandchildren, Shelly Miller of Lewisville, Texas, Gunar Stowers and his wife, Bliss, of Winston Salem, N.C., Eli Stowers of Oklahoma City, Megan Stowers of Tampa, Fla.; a sister, Frances Kelly of Oklahoma City; nieces, Donna Amiri, Cathy Odem, Suzanne Prince; and a nephew, Chuck Van Goder.

Hodges died Thursday, March 31, 2005. He was born on Jan. 26, 1945.
A 1963 graduate of Clinton High School, he served in the U.S. Army as a combat radio communications operator at Fort Meade, Md.
He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education and history at Southwestern Oklahoma State University.
Hodges went on to teach special education at Broxton near Apache where his services expanded to include coaching high school girls basketball and serving for several years as junior-senior sponsor.
Later, he moved to Wewoka and continued teaching until his retirement. He liked to recount some of the senior trips he sponsored. He retired in May of 2000.
Hodges enjoyed traveling between his Wewoka and Apache homes and visiting relatives in Clinton as well as Phoenix, Ariz., Waldport, Ore., Red River, N.M., Germany and Greece.
Other interests included deep-sea fishing, crabbing, fresh water fishing and mountain hiking. He took a lot of interest in his nephews, nieces and great nephews and nieces.
Preceding him in death, along with his parents, Velma and Carlos Hodges, was a stepmother, Tots Erwin Hodges.
Burial will conclude in the Clinton Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton.’
Survivors include a sister, Carla Cruson, and her husband, Gary, of Clinton; two brothers, David Hodges and his wife, Susan, of Clinton, Riley Hodges and his wife, Lee, of Phoenix, Ariz.; nephews and nieces, Sharon, Carolyn and Kyla Hodges, Cindy, Alex, Vessie and Orestes Trigas, Kendy and Bailey Cox and Cooper, Chance and Conner Cruson.

Raised in Bethel, he spent many years in Clinton before returning to Shawnee in 1999. He was a graduate of Bethel High School.
During World War II, he served in the Army Air Corps from 1942-1947, receiving many medals.
Nichols married Mary Williams in England on Jan. 6, 1945. She preceded him in death in October of 1998.
He owned the historic Route 66 icon Pop Hicks Restaurant and also Howard Nichols Waterproofing.
Nichols had been a commander of Hobbs-Ogle-Power American Legion Post No. 41 and VFW Post No. 4465, both in Clinton, before transferring his membership to a post in Shawnee where he continued as an active member.
He also was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church.
Preceding him in death, along with his wife and parents, were a son, Ernie Nichols; seven brothers, Joe, Cletus, Cecil, Roy, J.D., Jack and Jimmy Nichols; and two sisters, Ruby Baker and Mary Nichols.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Cooper Funeral Home in Tecumseh.
Survivors include a son, Thomas H. Nichols of Kingston; two brothers, Bill Nichols and his wife, Linda, of Shawnee, Rusty Nichols and his wife, Dorothy, of Milwaukee, Ore.; a brother-in-law, Pat Williams of England; a sister-in-law, Janet Nichols of the home; grandchildren, Rocky Nichols of Shawnee, Rhonda Walker of Durant; Thomas Howard Nichols and Joseph Nichols of Monterey, Calif., Sgt. Marykatherine Gorlick of Wurzburg, Germany; great grandchildren, Jamus Jason Gorlick, Cheyenne Walker; and more than 100 nieces and nephews.

Colvin died Thursday, Dec. 16, 2004, at St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City. She was born on Oct. 13, 1918 in Montague County at Stoneburg, Texas, the daughter of Willie and Dovie (Fletcher) Ellis.
Price died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2004, in Clinton. He was born on Aug. 14, 1938, in Elk City, the first child of Clyde and Noma Mae Price.

Tompkins died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2004, at Altus. She was born on April 3, 1918 at Port, the daughter of Floyd and Jewel Fullerton.

Funeral services for William Thomas Crain, 72, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Grace Baptist Church in Dill City.
A resident of Dill City and a retired meat plant worker, Crain died early Sunday morning, April 3, 2005, in an automobile accident on State Highway 152 approximately 14 miles west of Dill City.
