Funeral services for Leedey electrician Benti Ralph Keto, age 77, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the First Baptist Church at Leedey with interment in the Evergreen Cemetery following the service.
Keto died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004, in Leedey. Arrangements are under the direction of the Shaw Funeral Home in Leedey.
Heap-of-Birds dies Thursday at 5:30 pm
Memorial services for Juanita Heap-of-Birds, age 78 of Clinton, will be held at a later date under the direction of the StanleyLee Funeral Home in Clinton.
Heap-of-Birds died early Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, at the Grace Living Center in Clinton. She was born on June 18, 1925 in Weatherford, the daughter of John and Nora (Antelope) Heap-of-Birds.
Growing up in Thomas, she graduated from Haskell Indian School.
She married and lived in western Kansas until 1981 when she returned to Weatherford. Heap-of-Birds worked as a nurse’s aide with the Indian Health Services until her retirement.
Heap-of-Birds enjoyed attending powwows and serving as a head lady dancer. She also had served as an honored senior citizen at many pow-wow committees and benefit dances.
She was a member of the Indian Methodist Church in Clinton and the War Mothers Society.
Survivors include a daughter, Theda Hamilton of Wichita, Kans.; three sons, Gardield Hamilton, also of Wichita, Norman Hamilton of Porte St. Lucie, Fla., A. Fenton Hamilton of Weatherford; two brothers, Charles Heap-of-Birds, Alfred Heap-of-Birds of Thomas; eight grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Betty Allen funeral set at 5:27 pm
Allen died late Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004, in the Integris Baptist at Oklahoma City following a massive stroke.
She was born on Dec. 27, 1933 in Bessie, the daughter of Robert “Bob” and Susan (Belter) Bredy.
Moving to Stafford with her family at an early age she later moved to Butler where she attended grade school and then to Clinton where she graduated from high school.
She married Lester Allen, and they opened a photography studio in Cordell before moving back to Clinton where she worked at Bluncks until her retirement. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church.
Preceding her in death, along with her parents, was a brother, Herbert “Buddy” Bredy.
Burial will conclude in the Clinton under the direction of the StanleyLee Funeral Home in Clinton.
Survivors include her husband, Lester Allen, of the home; a son, Keith Allen of Clinton; two sisters, Helen Waters of Butler, Marjorie Kelpe of Balwin, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.

Hawley, a homemaker, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004, at Taloga. Arrangements are under the direction of the Shaw Funeral Home in Taloga.
Pringle rites set Tuesday at 12:47 pm
Funeral services for Clarence Albert Pringle, age 78 and a former Clinton resident, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of the Stanley-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton with minister Patrick Peters officiating.
Pringle died Saturday, June 26, 2004, in the Prairie House Living Center at Plainview, Texas. He was born on July 25, 1925 in Clinton, the son of Mable Kerns and Clarence Pringle.
Reared in the Stafford community where he attended school, Pringle married Minnie Weil on Aug. 7, 1943 in Sayre.
He soon enlisted in the U.S. Army on Feb. 2, 1944 during World War II.
He served on the Tinan Island in the South Pacific with the 374th General Hospital Division as an auto mechanic.
Pringle reached the rank of tech sergeant and was honorably discharged on March 26, 1946.
He moved his family to the San Diego, Calif. area until 1953. He then returned to Hale Center, Texas where he owned and operated a mechanic shop until he retired in 1966.
Pringle was a member of the Church of Christ, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans.
He, along with his wife, moved to Clinton in 1990 to be near his wife’s ailing mother. They later moved back to Texas.
Preceding him in death, along with his parents, were a sister, Minnie Belle Pringle; and three brothers, Leroy Pringle, Billy Potts and William Dale Pringle.
Burial will conclude in the Parkersburg Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Minnie, of Plainview, Texas; three daughters, Lillie Davis and her husband, Gary, of Hale Center, Texas, Mrs. Bill (Paula) King of Clinton, Marie Bland of Hale Center, Texas; a son, David Pringle and his wife, Nomi, of Denton, Texas; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and two sisters, Georgie Dunbar of San Diego, Calif. and Artie Fay McCoy of Santee, Calif.

Funeral services for Dortha Dickerson, age 70 of El Reno, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in El Reno with Rev. John Chennault officiating.
Burial will conclude in the Arapaho Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
Born southeast of Clinton on April 29, 1934 to Henry and Emma (Sawatzky) Heinrichs, Dickerson died early Wednesday, June 23, 2004, at the Integris Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City.
Dickerson grew up on the family farm west of Butler and attended school at Pie Flat and later at Butler.
The family moved to a farm near Arapaho in 1950, and

She worked for Public Service Co., Singer Sewing Center and Bluncks Studio.
They moved to Elk City in 1967 and to El Reno in 1975.
While in Elk City she worked for Cairo Blackwell Realty. She worked for Century 21 and earned her broker’s license. She had been working as an agent for Crown Realty in El Reno.
An active member of the First Baptist Church in El Reno, she served as director of the young adult Sunday school, sang in the adult and Prime Time choirs, served on the Properties Committee and volunteered with the youth program and Falls Creek Camp.
She was the former president of the El Reno Board of Realtors and helped in numerous civic organizations.

In her spare time she enjoyed sewing, working in her yard and babysitting her great grandchildren.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Stanley-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton.
Survivors include her husband, Wayne, of the home; three sons, Larry and his wife, Debra, of Tahlequah, Leslie of Lawton and Lowell and his wife, Shelly, of El Reno; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two brothers, Arden Heinrichs and his wife, Kathryn, of Washington, Okla., Lonnie Heinrichs and his wife, Kathy, of Thomas; two sisters, Ruby Wiebe and her husband, Harold, of Marengo, Ohio, Judy Schmidt and her husband, Jerry, of Arapaho; a sister, Doris Boggs and her husband, Rick, of Enid; and a host of other relatives.
Visitation will be at the Stanley-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton until 9 p.m. Thursday and at the Wilson Funeral Home in El Reno all day Friday.
The family suggests that those who desire may make memorial contributions in Dortha’s honor to the El Reno First Baptist Church Music Fund.

Funeral services for former area resident Vance Kenney were held June 22 at the Benson Memorial Chapel in El Reno with burial following in the Butler Cemetery.
Kenney was born on May 2, 1915 north of Foss, the son of John and Bettie Lou (Chaney) Kenney.
He married Pauline Sharp of Butler in August of 1938, and they farmed and ranched in the area until 1959 when Foss Reservoir was constructed, flooding their land.
They relocated to Calumet where they continued farming and ranching until 1990 when they retired and moved to El Reno.
Survivors include his wife, Pauline; a daughter, Pat Dalrymple and her husband, R.L., of Ardmore; sons, Leroy Kenney and his wife, Ann, of Bryan, Texas, Bill Kenney and his wife, Rosemary, of Yukon; nine grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and a great-great grandchild.
Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, Charles, Walter, Jim, Paul, Bill, Lewis, Jack; and a great grandchild.
He loved his Hereford cattle and considered cotton as the king of his crops.

Funeral services for Elizabeth Kroeker, age 84 of Corn, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Mennonite Brethren Church in Corn. The Rev. Ken Gardner and Rev. John Flaming will officiate.
Kroeker died Monday, June 21, 2004, at the Corn Heritage Village. She was born on Dec. 22, 1919 at Corn, the daughter of David and Lizzy ( Nikkel) Dyck.
Kroeker grew up in Corn and graduated from the Corn Bible Academy. She married Edward Kroeker on her birthday on Dec. 22, 1940.
A fulltime homemaker, Kroeker not only took care of Edward and the boys, but she helped with harvest and provided meals for the hungry crew of workers. She loved to sew and quilt. Each of her grandchildren was blessed with a quilt made with her hands.
Elizabeth was a youth Sunday school teacher and a member of the Junior Sewing Circle. After retirement she and Edward traveled in their trailer to South Texas and Arizona.
There will be visitation at the church from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. on Friday. Interment will follow at the Corn Mennonite Brethren Cemetery in Corn. Services are under the direction of the Kiesau-Marler Funeral Home in Clinton.
Survivors include two sons, Virgil and Marilyn Kroeker of Oklahoma City, and Larry and Eugenia Kroeker of McKinney, Texas; a brother: David H. and Donna Dyck Jr. of Reedley, Calif.; a sister, Marie and Elmer Jantz of Lynchburg, Va.; a sister-in-law, Ella Dyck of Cimarron, Kans.; five grandchildren, Teresa and Darwin Kauffman, Julie and Dan Wilson, Melissa and Doyle Jost, Angela Kroeker, Chad and Diana Kroeker; ten great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband, E. R. Kroeker; her parents; a sister, Mathilda Foote; and two brothers, John N. Dyck and Harry Gene Dyck.
Merl Walker services set at 2:14 pm
Funeral services for Merl Dean Walker, age 77 of Rocky and a former Clinton resident, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Calvary Baptist Church at Cordell.
He attended school in Clinton until he was 14, and his family then moved to California.
He and Jan were married in June of 1985 at Los Gatos, Calif. In May of 1993 they moved back to Oklahoma.
Services are under the direction of the Jack Loftis Funeral Home of Cordell.
Survivors include his wife, Jan Walker of Rocky; a brothers-in-law, Douglas Vance of Rocky, Bill Herd of Slidell, La.; sons, Jim Walker of Martinez, Calif., Robert Olivera of Shell Beach, Calif.; daughters, Debi Vein and her husband, Chuck, of Patterson, Calif., Karen Donaldson and her husband, John, of San Jose, Calif., Sherri Olguin and her husband, Robert, of Cordell, Meggan Olivera of Cordell; grandchildren, Kelly McPherson and family, Melissa McPherson and family, Bobby Vein and family, Sandi Donaldson, Matthew Donaldson, Rebekah Donaldson, Rachel Donaldson, Morgan Olivera, Joshua Olivera, Samantha Brown, Jarod Olguin, Ryan King; sisters, Norma Brown and her husband, Hank, of California, Lila Baker of Tennesse, JoAnn Cloutier of California.
