She spent much of her early life as an only child until the birth of her brother, Kenneth Glen, when she was 16. Hayes lived with her parents on the Kopp homestead and attended a one-room schoolhouse in Putnam through the second grade.
In 1930 her family loaded in their wagon and moved to the Scott homestead in Custer City where she finished the remainder of her schooling, graduating in 1940.
After high school Hayes attended Oklahoma A & M (now Oklahoma State University) where she majored in home economics education and business accounting.
In 1943 she signed with the United States Marine
June and Ethan Joseph Conrad Hayes were united in marriage at the Naval Academy at Annapolis, Md. on July 30, 1945.
She remained in the service until September of that same year and upon discharge joined Joe in Miami Beach, Fla.
It was during Joe’s final assignment in Fort Worth, Texas that they gave birth to their first daughter, Carol Ann, who was stillborn.
Joe’s injuries prohibited his continuation as a pilot and upon his honorable discharge as a captain in the Army Air Corps, Joe and June moved back to Custer City to resume wheat farming and cattle ranching.
During the next few years June involved herself in Eastern Star, Methodist Women, Bible studies and school organizations such as PTO.
They traveled extensively in the United States, as well to both Canada and Mexico.
Also preceding her in death were her husband, Joseph; and a grandson, David Nolton Killman.
Burial will follow at the Masonic Cemetery in Custer City.
Survivors include a brother, Ken Kopp and his wife, Rose; a daughter, Sarah Jean Tate and her husband, Jim, of Yukon; a son, Joseph Conrad Hayes II and his wife, Margo, of Custer City; a daughter Ruth Killman and her husband, Lee, of Billings, Mont.; grandchildren and their spouses and children, Janet and Richard Steele and daughter, Sydney, Jeremy and Michelle Tate and son, Cayden, Jarvis Tate, Kathleen and Glen Roach and their sons, Jacob and Samuel, Allison Hayes, Becky Ford-Killman and Scott Killman.
The family suggests that memorial donations can be made in her honor to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation.

Brown died earlier today at his home. A full obituary is planned for release Wednesday.
Bearbow rites held at 4:29 pm
He lived in Clinton and Concho and had attended the Clinton Public Schools.
Bearbow worked for a number of years for the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribal Farm and Ranch Office.
Burial was in the Morton Family Cemetery at Geary under the direction of the Turner Funeral Home in Geary.
Survivors include five daughters, Tammera Bearbow of Oklahoma City, Lucinda Bearbow of El Reno, Sheree Reyes, Melissa Bearbow and Veronica Bearbow, all of Oklahoma City; two sons, Sean and Morgan Bearbow, both of Oklahoma City; his mother, Cordelia Bearbow of Arapaho; 18 grandchildren; a great grandson; two brothers, Stephen Bearbow of Clinton, Calvin Bearbow of Arapaho; two sisters, Lu Ann Monroe of Hammond, La., Sandra Bearbow of Oklahoma City.
Preceding him in death were his father, Calvin Bearbow; a brother, Dennis Bearbow; and grandparents, Sam and Stella Morton and Ruth Bearshield.

Thorlakson died late Sunday, Aug. 28, 2005, at the Clinton Veterans Center. He was born on July 24, 1919 in Powers Lake, N.D., the son of Einar and Jean (Jorgenson) Thorlakson.
Having spent his early years at Powers Lake and attending school there, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during World War II.
After serving in New Guinea, the Central Pacific and Southern Philippines, he received an honorable discharge and returned to Powers Lake where he farmed.
He moved to California for a time and worked in the aircraft industry.
After his retirement, he spent winters in Apache Junction, Ariz.
He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
In his spare time he enjoyed the outdoors, golfing, swimming and working with animals.
Preceding him in death, along with his parents, were two brothers, Arthur and William.
Local arrangements are under the direction of the Stanley-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton.
Survivors include a daughter, Diane Beyl and her husband, Ed, of South Carolina; two sons, Danny Gietzen and his wife, Nancy, of Clinton, Darrell Bailey of Oklahoma City; two brothers, Roy Thorlakson of Powers Lake, N.D., Clem Thorlakson of Polson, Mont.; seven grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

Melba Mae Baker died Thursday, Aug. 25, 2005, at her home northwest of Butler following a short battle with cancer.
She was born on April 29, 1934, on a farm northeast of Butler near Barnitz Creek, the daughter of Grover and Bertha (Sanger) Baker.
Klein grew up in the Butler area, graduating from Butler High School in 1952 where she was a proud baton twirler for the Butler High School Band.
On Aug. 3, 1952 she married Griffie Klein at her parents’ home in Butler.
The first 10 years of their marriage they made their home in Clinton and then moved to the family farm northwest of Butler.

She immensely enjoyed her lifelong career as a homemaker. She also enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking, sewing and crocheting — crocheting more than 400 family names.
She also was dedicated to the work on the family farm.
Klein was a member of the Nimble Thimble Club in Butler.
Preceding her in death, along with her parents, were a sister, Lola Faye Miles; and three brothers, Loyd, Melvin and Grover, Jr.
Burial will conclude in the Butler Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton.
Survivors include her husband, Griffie, of the home; a daughter, Teresa Chaloner and her husband, Michael, of Hinton; two sons, Ronnie and his wife, Teresa, of Butler, Greg and his wife, Jill, of Purdy, Mo.; two sisters, Pauline Rose and Beulah Klein and her husband, Arthur, and two brothers, Glenard and his wife, Nada, and Raymond “Jack” and his wife, Denise, all of Butler; eight grandchildren, Cody, Aaron and Melody Chaloner, Alicia Klein Carpenter, Merlanda and Chelsea Klein, Anthony Cross, Scottie Klein; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Brown died Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2005, at Clinton. She was born on June 1, 1906 in Stockton, Mo., the daughter of William Franklin and Martha Clementine Hicks Young.
She grew up in the Cordell area, and she and Claude Earl Brown were married in 1927, making their home in the Burns Flat community from 1931 until 1980.
Later, she moved to Clinton and had spent the last 11 years as a resident of the Grace Living Center.
A homemaker, she also had been employed by Frank Seay Corporation in Clinton and at the former Clinton-Sherman Air Force Base for several years.
Preceding her in death was her husband in 1962.
Burial will be in the Boggy Cemetery east of Burns Flat.
Survivors include a daughter, Claudia Thompson Chapman of Clinton; Faye and her husband, Bill Bolechala of Burns Flat and Loy D. Brown and his wife, Sue, of Weatherford; 10 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Mullins died Monday, Aug. 22, 2005, at Cleo Springs. He was born on Aug. 19, 1954, in Clinton, the son of Jesse James “Pat” and Fawn Dee (Williams) Mullins.
Mullins was reared in Oklahoma City and Okeene, graduating from Okeene High School in 1972.
He soon joined the U.S. Navy. After his discharge he returned to Okeene and worked in the oil fields before later moving to Florida where he worked for a heating and air conditioning company.
In the early 1990’s he moved back to Oklahoma and lived in Weatherford where he worked for the 3M Company.
He had been disabled for the past couple of years.
Mullins was a member of the United Methodist Church in Okeene and an avid University of Oklahoma fan. He loved to watch football and enjoyed music. He was learning to play the guitar.
Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Frank and Lillie Williams and Jim and Jessie Mullins, and an uncle, Nolan Mullins.
Burial will conclude in the Center Point Cemetery at Leedey.
Survivors include his parents, “Pat” and Fawn Dee Mullins of Weatherford; two brothers, Gary Mullins of Southard, Robert Keith Mullins of Jacksonville, Fla.; four nieces, Misty Zimms of Elk City, Chastity Goodspread of Southard, Melissa Mullins of San Antonio, Texas, Tiffany Cottrell; a nephew, Chris Mullins and his wife, Michelle, of Okeene; three great nephews; three great nieces; and an uncle and aunt, Joe and Dotty Mullins.
Wayne Dalke services set at 1:51 pm
He was born on July 21, 1956, in Clinton, the son of Herman and Dora Dalke.
Reared in Clinton, he graduated from Clinton High School in 1975. He married Liz Sorbello in 1985 in Texas.
Dalke worked as a welder and farmed most of his adult life. Preceding him in death was his father.
He was a member of the First Mennonite Church and loved to fish and play the guitar.
Burial will conclude in the Clinton Cemetery.
Survivors include his daughter, Angela Dalke of Clinton; a son, Keith Dalke of Corpus Christi, Texas; his mother, Dora Dalke of Clinton; a sister, Charlotte Childs of Rogers, Ark.; and a nephew, Nathan Wells of Rogers, Ark.
Sankadota services set at 1:41 pm
A prayer service will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday
Sankadota died Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2005, at Weatherford. He was born on March 9, 1950, the son of Jasper and Etheline (Haumpy) Sankadota, Sr.
He married Lula Gould on Sept. 30, 1968 in Arapaho after having attended school at Stecker, Carnegie and Weatherford.
Sankadota graduated from Broxston High School in 1969 and went on to attend Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford where he studied toward becoming a pharmacy tech.
He also attended Draughon Business School in Oklahoma
Sankadota worked for Anadarko and Clinton Indian Health Services, Kiowa Tribe Head Start, the Nottawa Gardens processing plant, 3M and Raven Industries.
He was a member of the Kiowa Tribe and was adopted by the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes.
He was a Satepauhoodle Descendant and of the Baptist denomination.
Burial will be in the Memory Lane Cemetery in Anadarko under the direction of the Comanche Nation Funeral Home in Lawton.
Survivors include his wife, Lula Sankadota, of the home; a son, Jasper Sankadota III of Anadarko; five daughters, Cheryl Sleeper and her husband, Robert, of Geary, Cathy Sankadota of Weatherford, Kristy Bearshield and her husband, Reggie, of Weatherford, Jodi Sankadota of the home, Mariah Tsotaddle-Sankadota of Anadarko; 13 grandchildren; six brothers, Bruce Poafpybitty of Apache, Virgil Poafpybitty, Donald Sankadota, Dale Sankadota, all of Lawton, James Sankadota of Stecker, Fenton Hamilton of Weatherford; four sisters, Gail and Imma Sankadota of Anadarko, Gloria Cross of Stecker, Joyce Vinyard of Anadarko.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were two brothers, Thomas Poafpybitty, Danny Sankadota; and a sister, Mary Lenora Poafpybitty.

A celebration of the life of Elva June Hayes, age 83 of Custer City, will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church in Custer City.
Hayes died in the early hours of Tuesday, Aug. 30. She was born on June 18, 1922, the daughter of Florence and Eugene Kopp.
Corps at the initiation of World War II, completed
boot camp at Quantico, Va. and worked in Washington D.C. in the Officer Candidate School and the confidential files office as a typist/secretary.
Cecil Brown services held at 4:29 pm
Memorial services for Cecil Brown, age 95 of Clinton, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home on West Modelle Avenue in Clinton.
Funeral services for Clinton native Ronald Gene Bearbow, age 57, were held this afternoon at the First Baptist Church in Geary with Bro. Joe Mitchell and Rev. Frank Kauahquo officiating.
Bearbow died Saturday, Aug. 27, 2005, at the Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City. He was born on April 18, 1948 at Clinton, the son of Calvin Coolidge and Cordelia M. (Morton) Bearbow.

Clinton, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home on West Modelle Avenue in Clinton. Pastor Dave Gerbrandt will be officiating.
Dalke died late Saturday, Aug. 20, 2005, at the United Methodist Health Care Center in Clinton following a battle with cancer.
Services for Jasper “Honey Ho” Sankadota, age 55 of Anadarko, are planned for Sunday and Monday at Ware’s Chapel in Anadarko.
