Rites Friday for Stucker at 1:17 pm
Graveside services for Duane Stucker, age 80 of Grande Chenier, La., will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the Arapaho Cemetery with nephews Warren Stucker and David West officiating.
Maurice Duane Stucker died Monday, Oct. 24, 2005, at his son’s home in Oklahoma City, following a battle with cancer.

He was born on Dec. 19, 1925, in Arapaho, the son of Ray and Elva (Smith) Stucker.

Stucker grew up on the family farm west of Arapaho and graduated from Arapaho High School in 1943.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1944 and served during World War II in Okinawa and Japan.

While in the Army he married Lea Paoli.

After his honorable discharge in 1947 he returned to Oklahoma and enrolled at Southwestern Oklahoma State University.

He graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in forestry.

The young couple moved to South Carolina and later to Texas where he worked for the H.L. Hunt and Williams Lumber Company.

After his retirement they moved to the coast of Louisiana where he owned a shrimp boat.

He was a member of the Methodist Church, VFW, American Legion and Rotary. He also organized the National Forestry Association.

Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were a son, Phillip; and Duane’s wife, Lea.

Burial will conclude under the direction of the Stanley-Lee Funeral Home. The family will greet guests at the funeral home in downtown Clinton from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday.

Survivors include a friend, Vera Cummings of De Ridder, La.; two sons, Russell Stucker of Oklahoma City, Mitchell Stucker and his wife, Linda, of Albuquerque, N.M.; two stepsons, Nicky Paoli and Tommy Paoli and his wife, Yvonne, all of Lake Charles, La.; a stepdaughter, Mary Roupp; a sister, Juanita Stucker of Clinton; and brothers, Elmer Stucker and his wife, Bonnie, of Arapaho, and Ray Stucker and his wife, Mary Jo, of Shawnee.

Alma Smith services set at 1:40 pm
Graveside services for Alma Frances Smith, age 72, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the South Burns Cemetery at Burns Flat with Jimmie Prickett officiating.

Smith died Friday, Oct. 21, 2005. She was a homemaker.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Jack Loftiss Funeral Home in Cordell.

Survivors include five children, Kenneth Larkin of Caldwell, Idaho, Norman Lee of Niland, Calif., Linda Lund of Dill City, Patricia Wise of Alpena, Ark., Joseph D. Petty of Dill City; 17 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; three sisters, Ermal Hahn of Nampa, Idaho, Lois Bale of Caldwell, Idaho, Florence Smith of Mountain Grove, Mo.; and a brother, Albert E. Smith of Fruitland, Idaho.

Mrs. Smith was preceded in death, along with her parents, by two brothers.

Rites Tuesday for McDonald at 1:40 pm
Funeral services for B.D. McDonald, age 81 of Thomas, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church in Thomas with Rev. Larry Harlan officiating.
McDonald died Saturday, Oct. 22, 2005, in Oklahoma City. He was born on March 13, 1924 in Fay, the son of Seth and Sophrona (Humphreys) McDonald.

Reared southeast of Fay, he attended school in Fay and was married to Erma Cleveland on Nov. 5, 1949 in Clinton.

They made their home in Thomas where he operated a gas station. He later worked for First Pyramid Life and then became an independent life insurance agent before retiring in 1994.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was a 32nd Degree Mason.

Burial will follow in the Mound Valley Cemetery at Thomas under the direction of the Lockstone Funeral Home in Thomas.

Survivors include his wife, Erma McDonald, of Thomas; a son, Rick Cleveland of Corn; a daughter, Marlane Taylor and her husband, Bill, of Union City, Tenn.; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two brothers, David McDonald of Albuquerque, N.M., Rod McDonald of Geary; and a sister, Shirlene McDonald of Fay.

Preceding him in death, along with his parents, were two sons in infancy, David Dean and Monty Craig; a son, Charles Roy Cleveland; two brothers, Ted and Edgar; and five sisters, Jo, Alta, Twila, Ila and Colleen.

Penner rites are observed at 1:39 pm
Graveside services for Corn native Lawrence Keith Penner, age 72 of Cordell, were held this morning at the Lawnview Cemetery at Cordell with Dale Durnell officiating.
Penner was born on Feb. 19, 1933 in Corn, the son of A.W. and Gertrude (Krewall) Penner.

In 1951 he graduated from Corn High School and entered the United States Army, being stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska.

He grew up attending the Corn Mennonite Church. In addition to farming, he ran a custom harvesting business and also worked for Washita County for eight years before retiring in 1996.

On Nov. 11, 1965 he was married to Lazetta Lowber.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Jack Loftiss Funeral Home in Cordell.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 50 years, LaZetta, of the home in Cordell; two daughters, Cindy Butler and her husband, Loren, of Norman, Brenda Hoefar of Oklahoma City; three grandchildren, Laura and Brett Butler and Gabrielle Hoefar; and a brother, Alfred Penner of Norman.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Nonast rites held today at 1:39 pm
Funeral services for Virginia Louise Howard Intemann Nonast, age 78 of Bessie, were held today at the First Baptist Church in Cordell with Marvin Kehl and R.B. Mathis officiating.
Nonast died Friday, Oct. 21, 2005. She was born on April 23, 1927 in Anadarko, the daughter of Wayne and Anita Mills Howard.

She spent most of her childhood in Anadarko before the family moved to Cordell and she graduated as valedictorian of the 1945 graduating class at Cordell High School.

On Oct. 5, 1947 she married Benhart Rinehart Intemann and the couple moved to Bessie where they farmed until her husband’s death in 1976.

On May 2, 1982 she married Floyd Nonast of Bessie, and the couple continued to live in Bessie.

Among the many jobs that Nonast had during her lifetime she was a Cordell bank teller, a school secretary at Bessie Elementary School, an assistant manager at the Bessie Grocery Store and as a floral designer for Jack’s Flowers in Cordell.

She finished her working life in the abstracting office of Merkle O’Hallaran and Rex Herron.

In 1960 she and her husband, Bennie, helped to reopen the Bessie Baptist Mission, which they served until 1976.

She went on to serve as the church organist for the Cordell First Baptist Church.

In 2004 she moved into the Corn Heritage Village.

Preceding her in death were her parents and a brother, Gerald Wayne Howard.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Jack Loftiss Funeral Home in Cordell.

Survivors include her husband, Floyd Nonast of Bessie; three sons, Randy Intemann of Keller, Texas, Kevin Intemann of Bessie, Robin Intemann and his wife, Denise, of Pampa, Texas; a daughter, Cindy Henderson and her husband, Ron, of Weatherford; a stepson, Rodney Nonast and his wife, Cylinda, of Cordell; a stepdaughter, Rhonda Banning of Katy, Texas; 12 grandchildren, Bryan Intemann, Courtney Osborne, Alisha Cary, Lacy Henderson, Kenzie and Riley Intemann, Karissa and Kailee Intemann, Kyle and Kelsey Nonast, Ashley Athey, Tyler Banning; 12 great grandchildren; and a brother, Don Howard and his wife, Edna, of Cordell.

Spitz rites on Monday at 1:35 pm
Mass services for Katherine Spitz, age 86 of Canute, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Elk City with Father Timothy Fuller officiating.

Prayer vigil services will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Whinery-Savage Funeral Service Chapel in Elk City with Deacon Jim Warnke officiating.

Spitz died Thursday, Oct. 20, 2005, at her home. She was born on Dec. 30, 1918 southeast of Canute, the daughter of Frances (Merz) and George T. Kampaus.

She lived in the Canute and St. Francis communities her entire life, and was married to Louis Jacob Spitz on Sept. 6, 1938 at the St. Francis Church.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Eddie Kampaus; and two sisters, Agnus Schones and Bernadine Toelle.

Burial will be in the St. Francis Cemetery.

Survivors include four sons, Louis A. Spitz and his wife, Wyoma, of Canute, Jimmy Spitz and his wife, Linda, of Cleo Springs, Dwight Spitz and his wife, Celia, and Kevin Spitz and his wife, Dotty, all of Elk City; a daughter, Kathleen Hise and her husband, Gary, of Sayre; 16 grandchildren, Clint Spitz, Jerry Spitz, Shelly Elliott, Greta Cox, Cindy Parker, Louis Hise, Chris Hise, Jimmy Spitz, Becky Berlingeri, Emily Pickett, Mandy Wilson, Mark Spitz, Michael Spitz, Megan Spitz, Raven Beck, Dondi Ross; and 23 great grandchildren, Nicole Janning, Zachary Spitz, Deon Banks, Leathern Spitz, Melissa, Kara, Carla and Amy Parker, Kacey, Kole and Kennedee Cox, Catlyn and Christian Spitz, Anna and Jacob Elliott, Landon and Tomi Hise, Lauren and Nicholas Berlingeri, Madison and Joshua Spitz, Dustin and Kelsi Wilson; three sisters, Delores Greteman, Ragina Schones and Lorene Grossman.

Riggs rites on Saturday at 1:50 pm
Memorial services for Grady Keith Riggs, age 33, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Indian Pentecostal Church in Clinton with Ramus Hicks and Woodrow Kinney officiating.

Riggs was born on June 2, 1972 in Mission Viejo, Calif., the son of Keith Riggs and Betty Lynn Bearhead of Clinton.

Riggs attended school in the Clinton area as well as at Riverside Indian School and Sequoyah Indian School.

He worked as an auto body technician in Tulsa.

Riggs’ remains were found earlier this month along a riverbank near Bixby and were identified by the Tulsa County Medical Examiner. He had been missing since Aug. 6, 2004, as previously reported in the Daily News.

Preceding him in death were his mother and an infant brother, Brian Paul Riggs.

Survivors include a son, Mekko Riggs of Tulsa; his father; a brother, Chebon Warden, and two sisters, Tonya Powell and Kehly Riggs, all of Clinton.

Services set for Abshier at 1:49 pm
Funeral services for Dr. George S. Abshier, age 86, will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Kings Way United Methodist Church in Springfield, Mo. with Pastor Charles Buck officiating,
Abshier died Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2005, in Springfield after a battle with cancer. He was born Feb. 17, 1919, in Rockport, Ind., the third of five children born to Fred and Ella Abshier.

He was married to Clarene Fentress on March 30, 1946 and she preceded him in death on Feb. 11, 2000.

Their three daughters and sons-in-law and six grandchildren survive.

He married Marian George, who survives him, in Springfield on June 7, 2003.

He is also survived by Nancy and Jay Pierce, Jayson and Shauna Pierce and Jeremy Pierce of Garland, Texas; Janice and David Berrong, and Jonathan of Clinton and Marissa Berrong of Los Angeles, Calif.; and Drs. Marcia and Robert Mahnken, Kurt and Heidi of Springfield, Mo.

Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery. The services will be handled by Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel.

Robertson rites slated at 1:49 pm
Funeral services for Kenneth “Preach” Robertson, age 88 and a Leedey farmer-rancher, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Leedey.
Robertson died Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2005, at Leedey.

Burial will be in the Rhea Cemetery at Leedey under the direction of the Shaw Funeral Home of Leedey.

Angie Neely funeral held at 1:48 pm
Funeral services for Angie Addline Neely, age 92, were held this afternoon in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton with Rev. Roy Dobbs officiating.
Neely died Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2005, at Southwestern Memorial Hospital in Weatherford. She was born on March 13, 1913 in Mangum, the daughter of John and Pauline (Olivia) Lanford.

Growing up in Mangum, she attended school at Reed and Wildcat.

After moving to Oklahoma City for a short time, she met James Neely. They were married on Oct. 22, 1965 in Mangum and shortly thereafter moved to Clinton.

She worked for Pepsi-Cola Bottling Co. as an administrative assistant for 20 years.

Neely was a member of the First Baptist Church and of
the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the American Legion.

Preceding her in death, along with her parents, were 11 brothers and a sister.

Burial concluded at a family cemetery south of Mangum.

Survivors include her husband, James, of the home; a daughter, Belinda “Sam” Quan; a son, Charles Bowman; granddaughters, Amber Cox and Toni Patterson; and two great grandchildren.

Watan baby funeral set at 1:48 pm
Funeral services for Singing Bird Black feather Watan, three-month-old son of Michael and Daisy (Blackbear) Watan, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Colony Presbyterian Church with Rev. Floyd Blackbear, Rev. Johnny Bearshield and Rev. Gerald Panana officiating.
An all-night wake service will be held at the Tri-County Building in Geary beginning at 7 p.m. Monday.

Singing Bird died early Thursday, Oct. 20, 2005, at Parkview Hospital in El Reno. He was born on July 8, 2005 there to Michael and Daisy Watan.

Preceding him in death was a sister, Edwina Helen Sankey.

Burial will conclude in the Colony Indian Cemetery under the direction of the Stanley-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton.

Survivors include his parents of the Geary home; a sister, Irene Rose Sanky; a brother, WhiteEagle Southern Watan; and grandparents, Max and Dorene Watan, Jr. and James and Mary Lou Blackbear.
