Services set for Edwards at 5:04 pm
Funeral services for Jay E. Edwards, age 60 and a retired Clinton firefighter, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton with Rev. Ron Henderson and Rev. Alvis Merrill officiating.

Jay E. Edwards, Jr. died late Tuesday at the Integris Clinton Regional Hospital emergency room of an apparent heart attack. He was born on May 2, 1946 in Holdenville, the son of Jay E. and Ruby Odessa (Hamby) Edwards.

Reared in Dodge City, Kan. and Clinton, Edwards had attended schools in both cities until he joined the U.S. Navy in 1963.

He served during the Vietnam War on the USS Topeka and received an honorable discharge in 1967.

Returning to Clinton, he married Kathy Killer and began a career with the Clinton Fire Department, serving for 21 years before retiring in 1988.

He married Ruth Barker on June 30, 1990, and they made their home in Clinton.

Preceding him in death, along with his parents, was a brother, Ronnie Wayne Edwards, who died at the age of two.

Edwards was a member of the American Legion and VFW.

Burial will conclude in the Clinton Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth, of the home; a daughter, Kheva Edwards of Wichita, Kan.; a stepdaughter, Dondi Cobb and her husband, Barry, of Corn; a stepson, Troy Magers and his wife, Khrysti, of Watonga; a sister, Jeanie Johns and her husband, Don, of Choctaw; and seven grandchildren, Troy Newton, Anna Cobb, Erica Edwards, Dillion Magers, Shyanne Magers, Austin Magers and Chas Magers.

Harris services set at 5:19 pm
Funeral services for Leslie Dwayn Harris, age 54 of Clinton, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Gospel Tabernacle Church in Arapaho with Pastor Alan Morgan officiating.

Harris died late Saturday, July 22, 2006, at the Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City. He was born Nov. 16, 1953, in Weatherford, the son of Virgil and Mary (Lowery) Harris.

He spent his early years in Weatherford and graduated from Lakeside High School. On June 16, 1972 he married Karen Jones in Arapaho.

They made their home in Clinton, and he worked in the oilfields most of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jimmy Kelly and Terry Harris; and sister, Janet Sue Harris.

Burial will be held at a later date under the direction of the Stanley-Lee Funeral Home of Clinton.

Survivors include his wife. Karen. of the home; a daughter, Malina Harris of Clinton; sons, Scott Harris and Anthony Harris of Clinton and Michael Harris Weatherford; a sister, Sandra Troxell of Weatherford; and brothers Harry Harris of Clemscott, Eugene Harris of Weatherford.

Services set for Maddox at 4:37 pm
Funeral services for Peggy Joy Maddox, age 71 of Cordell, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Assembly of God Church in Cordell with Doyle Roark officiating.

Maddox died of a lengthy illness Friday, July 21, 2006, at her home. She was born on Aug. 9, 1934 in Lawton.

She had lived in Oklahoma, Texas and California, working as a homemaker, farmer, waitress, restaurant owner, cook, clerk and caretaker.

She married Buddy Maddox on Aug. 10, 1978 in Wheeler, Texas. The couple had farmed at Cloud Chief.

Preceding her in death, along with her parents, Jesse Locke, Sr., Sarah Nellie and Lee Roy Ellis, were her brothers, Roy Ervin Ellis and Bobby Ross Ellis; a sister, Ethel Jean Patton; a daughter, Darla Marie Burch and her husband, Buddy Maddox.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Jack Loftiss Funeral Home in Cordell.

Survivors include daughters, Carolyn Sue Tucker and her husband, Michael, of Ridgecrest, Calif., Sandra Lynn Serratt of Cordell, Patricia Ann Serratt of Cordell, Mickie Gayle Collins and her husband, Chris, of Littlefield, Texas; sons, Chip Spencer of Ringling, Jackie Havens of Waco, Texas; brothers, Jessie Locke of Cordell, Richard Locke and his wife, Jeanine, of Austin, Texas, Billy Ellis and his wife, Doris, of Sunberry, N.C.; sisters, Sue Cochran and her husband, Ronnie, of Cordell, Betty Jo Arter of Cordell; stepchildren, Mike Maddox and his wife, Sandra, of Canute, Don Maddox and his wife, Pam, of Cordell, Roxanne Morris of Cordell; 23 grandchildren; and 34 great grandchildren.

Letha Koch services set at 4:45 pm
Funeral services for Letha Elizabeth Koch, age 96 and a longtime Arapaho resident, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in the Methodist Church at Arapaho with pastors Wendall Folsom and Kent Wood officiating.

Born on Dec. 18, 1909 in Alden, the daughter of Walter and Sylvia (Mitchell) Newton, Koch died early today, July 28, 2006, at the United Methodist Health Care Center in Clinton.

Koch spent her early years in Springer, N.M., moving back to Custer County at the age of 16.

On Sept. 8, 1928 she married Louis Koch in Arapaho, and they made their home on a farm seven miles west of Weatherford.

In 1945 they moved to a farm two miles east of Arapaho where they lived until her husband preceded her in death.

She was a member of the Methodist Church and AARP.

She had the distinction of being one of the first three women chosen to serve on a jury in Custer County.

Preceding her in death, along with her parents and husband, were a son, Melton; an infant great granddaughter; five brothers, Vertus, Harold, Orville, Clifford, J.W.; and four sisters, Julie, Tressa, Elsie and Norma.

Burial will conclude in the Greenwood Cemetery at Weatherford under the direction of the Stanley-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton.

Survivors include a son, Eldon and his wife, Lola, of Arapaho; a daughter-in-law, Kitty Koch of Arapaho; 8 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and 13 great-great grandchildren.

Milton Seger rites set at 5:52 pm
Funeral services for Milton Allen Seger, age 40 of Thomas, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Custer Avenue Baptist Church in Clinton with Rev. Ron Starr officiating.

A traditional Indian wake service will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. this evening at the Stanley-Lee Funeral Home chapel in Clinton.

Seger died Thursday, July 20, 2006, at Southwestern Memorial Hospital in Weatherford. He was born on Dec. 7, 1965 in Clinton to Mary Seger.

Reared in Clinton, he attended the Clinton schools and had traveled the United States, working at many different jobs.

Preceding him in death, along with his mother, were two brothers, Michael and Clifford.

He was a member of the Cheyenne-Arapaho Tribes of Oklahoma.

Burial will conclude in the Clinton Indian Cemetery.

Survivors include a sister, Tammy Rios of Clinton; two brothers, Lawrence Buffalo Meat and Raymond Buffalo Meat; and his companion of 13 years, Annette White Tail.

Gibson services set at 2:05 pm
Memorial services for Leann Gibson, age 49 of Amarillo, Texas, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel at 2800 Paramount Blvd. in Amarillo with Don Novak of the Harvest Christian Fellowship officiating.

Gibson died Thursday, July 13, 2006. She was born Feb. 14, 1957 in Clinton the daughter of Roy Lee and Phyllis Gibson. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include a daughter, Destiny Parsons, and a son, Jarrod Hutchins, both of Amarillo; her mother, Phyllis, and her husband, Roy Gibson of Clinton; a sister, Linda Myers of Del City; brother, Rocky Gibson of Wichita, Kan.; and two grandchildren, Michael and Dylan.

Jones services set at 2:04 pm
Funeral services for Carla J. (Fire) Jones, age 66 of Weatherford, will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Calvary Baptist Church in Weatherford with Pastor David Corley and Rev. Clay Hicks officiating.
Jones died Friday, July 14, 2006, at Southwestern Memorial Hospital in Weatherford. She was born on Oct. 25, 1939 in Clinton, the daughter of Walter and Julia (Pratt) Fire.

There will be a traditional Indian wake service from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the church at 3014 N. Lark in Weatherford.

Reared in Eagle City, she attended school there until the eighth grade before transferring to Haskill Indian Institute in Lawrence, Kan. and graduating high school in 1958.

She married Enes Arellano in September of 1963, and they made their home in Kansas for a short time before moving to Oklahoma in 1964.

They settled in Watonga, and she started a career with Indian Health Services, working for Watonga Indian Health Care until her retirement in 1986.

She then moved to Weatherford and had been in failing health for the past three years.

Jones had been a resident of the Maple Lawn Manor nursing home in Hydro for the past two years.

She was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Weatherford.

Preceding her in death were her parents and three sisters, Gwendolyn Hill, Marilyn Fire and Eldine Rogers.

Burial will conclude in the Zion Mennonite Indian Cemetery near Canton under the direction of the Stanley-Lee Funeral Home of Clinton.

Survivors included three daughters, Mary Morales of Watonga, Patricia Tello of Weatherford, Karen Roybal of Arkansas; stepdaughters, Rita Hinojoas and Juanita Rosales, both of Newton, Kan.; a stepson, Antonio Arellano of Newton, Kan.; three sisters, Karen Cut Nose and Lela Brill, both of Bethany, Gloria Uranga of Wichita Falls, Texas; a brother, Walter Harry Fire, Sr. of Clinton; 12 grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and 11 step great grandchildren.
