Blackbird died Sunday morning, Nov. 19, 2006, at her Butler home. She was born on Jan. 27, 1936 in Butler, the daughter of Hinton Clark and Nellie (Welch) Baker.
Having grown up on the family farm north of Butler, she graduated from Butler High School in 1956.
She moved to Oklahoma City and later to Cromwell. In 1959 she married George Gray in Nicoma Park, and he preceded her in death in 1970 after which she returned to Butler.
She worked at the Dairy Best in Clinton for several years.
On Feb. 15, 1981 she married Tom Blackbird, and they made their home in Butler.
Preceding her in death, along with her parents and first husband, were a daughter, Mary Ann; a granddaughter, Charlena Ray; and a brother, Homer.
Burial will conclude at 4 p.m. in the Resthaven Cemetery at Seminole under the direction of the Stanley-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton.
Survivors include her husband, Tom, and son, Dickey Gray, of the home; daughters, Georgena “Cricket” Ray of Elk City, Mary Bradley and her husband, Richard, of Fort Walton, Fla.; sons, Billy Baker of Hammon, Lester Gray and his wife, Chrystal, of Sayre; six sisters, Pauline Berry of Dill City, Evelyn Upchurch and her husband, Richard, of Yukon, Lucy Kelley of Clinton, Jolene Gillis of Sanford, N.C., Vera Kay Stout of Hammon, Marsha Poling of Elk City; eight brothers, Ray Baker and Danny Baker of Elk City, Jim Baker, Olen Baker and Roy Baker, all of Arapaho, Bryant Baker of Newalla, Kenny Baker of Hammon, Rex Baker of Butler; 13 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

Hinds died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2006, at her home following a lengthy illness. She was born on Aug. 14, 1923 in Cordell, the daughter of Oma Rhodes and O.H. (Potts) Tidwell.
At Elk City, Hinds worked for the Farmer’s National Bank and Kelley Jewelry before moving in 1960 to Modesto, Calif. where she was head teller at the Bank of California for 16 years.
Returning to Elk City in 1977, she worked for McKesson’s Western Wear and the Country Corner in Burns Flat before retiring.
Preceding her in death, along with her parents, was a sister, Marie Tidwell Tillison.
Survivors include her husband, Herman Hinds; a daughter, Brenda Belken and her husband, Ken, of Grand Prairie, Texas; three grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
Services set for Sharp at 3:41 pm
Reared in Amarillo, he married Suzanne Williams on Jan. 23, 1960 there.
They moved to Clinton in February of 1968 where Lloyd was employed as a lineman with Public Service Company of Oklahoma. He retired after 34 years of service in 2002.
The Sharps had been residents of the Butler area for the past several years.
He was attending the Stafford Baptist Church and was a past member of the Masonic Lodge, having been a worshipful master in the 1970’s.
For several years he was a member of the First Baptist Church in Clinton and had taught third grade and junior high Sunday school classes. He was an ordained church deacon at that time.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, was a sister, Wilma Klabzuba.
Burial will conclude in the Butler Cemetery under the direction of the Stanley-Lee Funeral Home of Clinton.
Survivors include his wife, Suzanne, of the home; three daughters, Valerie and Mariah of the home, Christine Neely and her husband, Gabriel, of Chickasha; three sons, Holland Sharp and his wife, Annette, of Savannah, Ga., Kelly Sharp and his wife, Becky, of Fort Worth, Texas, Billy Sharp and his wife, Brenda, of North Richland Hills, Texas; seven grandchildren, Nicole, Holland II, Zack, Natalie, Christian, Nick, Hunter Levi; sisters, Melba Duncan and her husband, Leroy, of Fruitland, N.M., Lisa Scott and her husband, Earl Wayne, of Edmond, Ira May “Tootie” Dennis and her husband, Johnny Lee, of Amarillo, Texas, Beath Spencer and her husband, Ron, of Richmond, Va., Debbie McCollum of Amarillo, Texas; brothers, Neil Sharp and his wife, Lynn, of Yukon, Bill Sharp and his wife, Maysha and Joe Barton, all of Amarillo, Texas and Danny “Jimmy” Parker of Cushing, Minn.
The casket will be closed at the funeral services. Friends may call at the funeral home until noon on Tuesday.

Reared in the Custer City and Thomas area, she attended school at Union Ridge west of Thomas.
In 1939 she married Fred Ballew, and they made their home in the Custer City-Thomas area where she was a homemaker and helped on the farm.
Later, she moved to Thomas where she began babysitting for many families and attended the Bethany Brethren in Christ Church.
She married James Horney on Oct. 10, 1998, and they made their home in Weatherford.
She spent the last few years at the Corn Heritage Village in Corn.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Lockstone Funeral Home of Thomas.
Survivors include a brother, Menno Friesen of Custer City; a sister, Elsie Sain and her husband, John, of Hayden, Idaho; two grandsons, Justin and Dustin Rose; and three great grandchildren, Dallas, Jacobe and Sierra Rose.
Preceding her in death, along with her husband; were two sons, Harold Ballew, C.L. Ballew; a daughter, Janice Peoples; six brothers, John, Harry, Eddie, Bert, Wes, Arnie; and two sisters, Martha Franklin and Bertha Music.

Burial will follow the service in the Mound Cemetery at Taloga under the direction of the Shaw Funeral Home of Taloga.

Prayer vigil services are set for 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Whinery-Savage Funeral Service Chapel in Elk City with Deacon Jim Warnke officiating.
Pendleton died Thursday, Nov. 2, 2006, at Sayre. He was born on April 19, 1944 at Coalville, Utah, the son of Thelma Grace Pendleton and Virdnel C. Hemminger.
He came to Clinton at the age of 20 and worked at a service station prior to moving to Elk City where he opened his own service station.
Later, he managed the Foss Junction Service Station.
Pendleton married Shirley Ann Spitz on Dec. 28, 1979 at Wheeler, Texas, and they made their home in Canute.
They built and opened Pendleton’s Truck Stop in Foss on Oct. 1, 1982. One year later, they made their home in Foss.
He was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church and of the Elks Lodge for 39 years.
Preceding him in death was his father, Virdnel Hemminger.
Burial will be at St. Francis Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley of the Foss home; three sons, Alex Pendleton and his wife, Carmen, of Henderson, Nev., Jeff Pendleton and his wife, Marilyn, of Boulder City, Nev., Rodney Edler of Canute; three daughters, Jill Pendleton of Henderson, Nev., Jenifer Simpson and her husband, Logan, of Carter, Heather Edler of Foss; nine grandchildren; three brothers, Douglas Walker, Monte Helton, Robert Wallenneger, and two sisters, DeAnna Walker and Peggy Wallenneger, all of Utah.

Elledge died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2006, at her residence after a short battle with cancer. She was born Feb. 12, 1951 in Leakey, Texas, the daughter of Charles and Edna Hill Moore.
She married Don Elledge, and they lived in Henderson County, Texas for many years. Preceding her in death were her parents and her husband in 2002.
Elledge was a childcare provider in her home. She attended Living for the Brand Cowboy Church in Athens.
Burial was in the Meredith Campground Cemetery near Walton, Texas.
Survivors include daughters, Kristie Fernandez and her husband, Manny, of Palestine, Texas, Mistie Carpenter and her husband, Andy, and Robin Fiscus and her husband, Stephen, all of Athens, Texas; grandchildren, Dustyn, Ty, Rance and Kyleigh Fernandez of Palestine, Texas, Cutter Carpenter and Bradley and Bryce Fiscus, all of Athens; a sister, Barbara Hope and her husband, Buster, of Athens, Texas; brothers, Donny Moore and his wife, Darlene, of Estelline, Texas, Will Moore of Wichita Falls, Texas and Charlie Moore and his wife, Marsha, of Arapaho.

Hutchinson died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2006, at her home. She was born on Jan. 11, 1946 in Elk City, the daughter of Glen and Doris (Koch) Shepard.
Reared in Custer City, she graduated from Custer City High School and won the Crisco Prize in home economics, graduating in 1964.
She moved to San Antonio, Texas after graduation where she worked as a window designer and later married Eugene Louis Hutchinson on Nov. 27, 1965.
She moved back to Custer City in 1972 where she and her husband worked together at house painters.
Preceding her in death were her mother and a brother, Rick Shepard.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton.
Survivors include her husband, Gene, of the home; her father, Glen Shepard of Custer City; and a brother, Gene Shepard of Marietta.
Services set for Mahan at 5:51 pm
Growing up in Oklahoma City, he attended school and started working in a doughnut shop there at an early age.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
On Jan. 1, 1951 he married Betty Skaggs in Fort Worth, Texas. They opened their first bakery in Duncan in 1956 before later moving to Altus and Burns Flat.
They opened Sleepy’s Bakery in Clinton in 1965, and he ran the bakery until he retired in 1984 and moved to Branson, Mo.
He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion.
Preceding him in death were two sons, Richard and Steve; and four brothers.
Burial will conclude in the Clinton Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Betty, of the home; two sons, Tony of Clinton, Kenneth of Branson, Mo.; two sisters, Jessie Mae Parker of Oklahoma City, Delores Anderson of Moore; four grandchildren, Tara Moore and Travis Mahan, both of Bessie, Heather McCornack of Clinton, Josh Mahan of Branson, Mo.; five great grandchildren, Melody, Keira, Matthew, Trenton, Kennedi; and former daughters-in-law, Mary Mahan and Roxanne Mahan.

Black died Monday, Oct. 30, 2006, at Integris Clinton Regional Hospital. He was born on Aug. 28, 1953 in Clinton, the son of Clifford and Sammie (Brown) Black.
On April 28, 1980 Black married Terry Slay in Houston, Texas, and they were married for more than 26 years before his death.
Black was a truck driver for 30 years and most recently worked for Gene Burden Trucking. Arrangements are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Clinton. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the funeral home at 541 S. 30th Street in Clinton.
Survivors include his wife, Terry Black of the home; three children, Heather Chittenden and her husband, Nathan, of Sweetwater, Texas, Mikah Black of Burns Flat, Kirk Black and his wife, Krystal, of Burns Flat; two sisters, Linda Dewees and her husband, Randall, of Arapaho, Cheryl Gordon and her husband, Merle, of Grand Island, Neb.; and three grandchildren, Baylee Chittenden, Cole Chittenden and Rowdie Black.

Funeral services for Cordell native Lela Pauline “Polly” Tidwell Hinds, age 83 of Elk City, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of the Jack Loftiss Funeral Home in Cordell with Rev. R.B. Mathis officiating.
Funeral services for Lloyd Sharp, age 66 of Butler, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Clinton First Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Ivey and Rev. Buck Nicholson officiating.
Sharp died early Saturday, Nov. 11, 2006, in the Integris Clinton Regional Hospital Emergency Room. He was born on Jan. 24, 1940 in Amarillo, Texas, the son of Homer L. and S.E. (Odom) Sharp.
Funeral services for Louis Cecil Jones, age 78 of Cheyenne, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Rhea Baptist Church with interment in the Rhea Cemetery following the service.
Jones died Sunday, Nov. 12, 2006, at Cheyenne. Arrangements are under the direction of the Shaw Funeral Home in Leedey.

Herbert Bert Mahan died early Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2006, at the Grace Living Center in Clinton. He was born on Feb. 16, 1928 in Oklahoma City, the son of Jay Vernon and Elizabeth (Christenson) Mahan.
