Funeral services for Rhiney Graf, 83, longtime farmer and civic leader in the Corn area, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Mennonite Brethren Church in Corn.
Graf died Friday afternoon, July 23, 2004, in an Oklahoma City hospital from injuries received that morning when the tractor he was driving was hit by a truck on State Highway 152 south of Corn.
Born March 27, 1921, at Henrietta, Texas, he was the son of Karl and Magdalena (Stuckle) Graf. He graduated from Henrietta High School in 1939 and later attended North Texas University in Denton, Texas, and machinist school in Dallas, Texas.
Graf was an Army veteran of World War II.
On Dec. 28, 1947, he married Annie Lee Gossen at Corn. They lived in Texas with his parents for six months, then bought the home place near Corn from his wife’s uncle, Henry Vogt, in the summer of 1948. They had lived there since, raising wheat, alfalfa, cotton and cattle.
They also ran a dairy from 1950 until 1971, and he went on wheat harvest for many years.
Graf joined the Corn Mennonite Brethren Church in 1949 and taught adult Sunday school classes for more than 50 years. While raising his children, he led family devotionals each Saturday night. The family also had morning Bible readings and prayer.
A member of the Corn Bible Academy board, Graf served five years as chairman. He was a church deacon for 16 years and church moderator for 10 years.
He also served on the board and senate of Tabor College, on the Southern District board of trustees, and as member and chairman of the Corn Heritage Village board of directors.
Graf enjoyed gardening, working with his peach and pecan trees, woodworking, and fishing with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Annie Lee Graf, of the home; one daughter, Jolene Thiessen (and her husband Leon), of Fresno, Calif.; three sons, Harlan Graf (and wife Betty), San Ramon, Calif., Dr. Lyndon Graf (and wife Debbie), Marlow, and Mark Graf (and wife Vonda), Corn; grandchildren Ryan and Dr. Melissa Thiessen, Shawna and Phillip Weathers, Jason and Sheri Graf, Nathan and Amy Graf, Andrea Graf, Dr. Tristan and Dr. Kathy Graf, Gatz Graf, Diana Graf, Mitchell Graf, Marissa Graf and Micah Graf; two great-grandchildren, James and Samantha Graf; two brothers, Albert Graf, Henrietta, Texas, and Marvin Graf (and wife Beth), Wichita Falls, Texas; and one sister, Elsie Strange (and husband Gene), Vienna, Va.
Graf was preceded in death by two brothers, Arnold and Raymond Graf; one sister, Zelma Graf; and a sister-in-law, Louise Graf.
Burial will be in the Mennonite Brethren Cemetery at Corn under direction of Kiesau Marler Funeral Home of Clinton.
Gilchrist rites set at 1:30 pm
Memorial interment services for Frances Gilchrist will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 31, in the Clinton Cemetery.
Christensen services set at 1:30 pm
Funeral services for Sherri Lynn Christensen, age 56 of Corn, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Mennonite Brethren Church in Corn with Rev. Ken Gardner officiating.
She grew up in Westminster, Colo., a suburb of Denver.
Married to Evert Christensen on Aug. 4, 1967, she worked with toddlers in a daycare for 17 years.
Upon retirement in 1997, she moved with her husband to Corn. She enjoyed painting, arts and crafts. She decorated downtown Corn with flowers.
They enjoyed traveling in their trailer to Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado and many other places.
Interment will be in the Mennonite Brethren Cemetery at Corn under the direction of the Kiesau-Marler Funeral Home in Clinton.
Survivors include her husband, Evert Christensen of the home; a daughter, Dana Horner and her husband, Mark, of Rio Vista, Texas; brothers, Gary Parsons and his wife, Carol, of Keller, Texas, Ron Parsons and his wife, Dolly, of Jefferson, Colo.; sisters, Deanna Benson and her husband, Leonard, of Denver, Colo., Jan Burden and her husband, Tom, of Kiowa, Colo., Kim Mattingly and her husband, Mike, of North Glen, Colo.; a brother-in-law, Keith Christensen and his wife, Sally, of Whitefish, Mont.; sister-in-law, Lucy Megli and her husband, Orville, of Weatherford, Dorothy Johnson of Avadale, Ariz., May Christensen of Fairbanks, Alaska, Walter Christensen and his wife, Sandy, of Novato, Calif.; and three grandchildren, Josh, Naomi and Hanna Horner.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services for Victoria M. Lewis, age 43 of Norman, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 26, in the Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Mucker and Rev. Jealdean Carr officiating.
Lewis died unexpectedly Thursday, July 22, 2004, at Norman Regional Hospital. She was born on Oct. 27, 1960 in Clinton, the daughter of Lee James and Willie Mae (Smith) Jones.
She grew up in Clinton and attended Clinton High School, moving to Kansas where she met and married Frank Lewis in 1980.
Her husband was in the Army so the couple traveled extensively, living in Germany for four years.
She moved back to Clinton in 2000 and to Norman in 2001. While in Clinton she worked as a nurse’s aide at the former Highland Park Manor.
Preceding her in death were her father in 1986 and a brother, David Smith.
Survivors include her parents, Nolan and Willie Mae Randle; a daughter, Amelia Wooden of Norman; her companion of three years, Melvin Igner; five brothers, Floyd Jones, Ralph Jones, Nolan Randle, Jr., Nathaniel Randle, Kevin Randle, all of Clinton; and a grandchild.

Graveside rites for Wesley Howe “Red” Campbell, age 64 of Perkins, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Perkins Cemetery.
Campbell died at a Grace Living Center. He was born on Oct. 11, 1939 at Enfield, Ill., the son of Whel Edison and Sarah Lena (Sanders) Campbell.
He married Jeralyn Hilbert, and they later divorced.
After attending Ripley High School where he graduated in 1959, he worked in the oil field and attended Oklahoma State University, earning an associate degree in engineering.
He then worked for Ralph’s Packing in Perkins for several years before beginning a job with Lincoln Life Insurance for six years.
Later he worked with the King-Lindsey Allis Chalmers dealership in Cordell until his retirement in 1991.
Campbell loved to hunt, fish and do woodwork. He also was a great storyteller.
Preceding him in death, along with his father, was a brother, Allen Dale Campbell.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Strode Funeral Home in Stillwater.
Survivors include his mother Sarah Lena Campbell; two sons, Wesley C. Campbell and his wife, Donita, of Clinton, Timothy W. Campbell and his wife, Diana, of Weatherford; a daughter, Jerri (Shelly) Harris and her husband, Kevin, of Drumright; six grandchildren, Jennifer Campbell, Laramie Campbell, Christopher Campbell, Robbie Harris, Justin Salinas, Trevor Harris; three brothers, Donald Lee Campbell and his wife, Patsy, of Indiana, Whel Edison Campbell Jr. and his wife, Janie, of Indiana, Leonard Henry Campbell and his wife, Rhonda, of Indiana; three sisters, Alice Janell Hall of Perkins, Phyllis Jane Dotter and her husband, Lee, of Wellston, Marlena Belle Hodson and her husband, Mark, of Carney.

Funeral services for Lori Leann Ricketts, age 38 of Weatherford, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Emmanuel Baptist Church at Weatherford with Rondal Kilgore officiating.
Ricketts died Friday, July 16, 2004, at Deaconess Hospital in Oklahoma City. She was born on Feb. 2, 1966 in Oklahoma City, the daughter of Robert and Fleda (Bradley) Anderson.
She was reared and attended school in Weatherford, graduating from Weatherford High School in 1989.
On Dec. 22, 2002 she married Mike Ricketts in Weatherford, and they made their home and reared their family there. She enjoyed listening to music and fishing.
Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery at Weatherford under the direction of the Lockstone Funeral Home in Weatherford.
Survivors include her husband, Mike, of the home; her parents, Fleda Anderson and Raymond Fulwider of Weatherford, Bob Anderson and his wife, Iola, of Clinton; four sons, Matthew, Travis, Dakota and Joshua Duree of Weatherford; and two brothers, Bob Anderson of Tupelo an Steve Anderson of Glendive, Mont.

Funeral services for Bill Kenney, age 59 of Yukon and a native of Clinton, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Smith & Turner Mortuary chapel at 201 E. Main in Yukon.
Kenney died Tuesday, July 13, 2004, at Oklahoma City. He was born on July 28, 1944 in Clinton and had been living in Yukon for the past 35 years after having moved there from Calumet.
Kenney owned and operated B&L Yard Service. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and gardening.
Burial will follow in the Yukon Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Rosemary, of the home; sons, Larry Kenney of Oklahoma City, Billy Kenney of Moore, Larry Buss of Yukon; daughters, Sandra Stevens of Bethany, Lisa Hilderbrand of Bethany, Michelle Salerno of Huntersville, N.C.; his mother, Pauline Kenney of El Reno; a brother, LeRoy Kenney of Bryan, Texas; a sister, Pat Dalrymplle of Ardmore; eight grandchildren; and a great granddaughter.

Funeral services for Edythe Newcomb, age 97 of Clinton, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the First Church of God with Rev. Roy Dobbs and Rev. Troy Dobbs officiating.
Newcomb died Wednesday, July 14, 2004, at the United Methodist Health Care Center in Clinton. She was born on June 28, 1907 in Taloga, the daughter of Kirby and Carrie (Davis) Poarch.
She attended school at Northland near Sayre and graduated from Weatherford High School before attending college at Weatherford.
In 1928 she started teaching at Mound Valley School in Washita County, teaching there for three years.
In 1931, she taught at the Mound Valley School in Caddo County. On Jan. 22, 1932 she married Ralph Newcomb, and they established their home in Clinton.
In 1943 they moved to a farm northeast of Clinton where she lived for 61 years.
They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in January of 1982 and Ralph preceded her in death in July of that year.
She was active in the First Church of God in Clinton where she taught Sunday school classes for 70 years, teaching the youngest children to the oldest adults.
Edythe was honored by the teen group for her dedication and service in helping with their activities.
Other church activities for her included the Women’s Missionary Group in which she held various offices. She also hosted countless visiting evangelists, music groups and missionary speakers.
She was a member of a home demonstration club for 35 years.
While her children were in school she cooked at the Red Rock School where they attend. She also was a 4-H sponsor and was one of the first Tupperware dealers in western Oklahoma, holding some of the first parties in the area in 1951 or 1952.
Visitation will be at the Kiesau-Marler Funeral Home and at the church prior to the services with interment in the Clinton Cemetery.
Survivors include her five children, LaVerle Miller of Arapaho, Robert Newcomb and his wife, Brenda, of Elk City, Oleta Camden and her husband, Cliff, of Clinton, Raymond Newcomb and his wife, Sharon, of Dewey, Carlos Newcomb and his wife, Ann, of Clinton; 13 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; a sister, Ethel Wade of Del City; and a brother-in-law, Barney Harms of Choctaw.
Preceding her in death, along with her parents and husband, were a sister; a brother; a grandson, David Newcomg; and a son-in-law, Buddy Miller.
Siler-Musick sevices set at 1:41 pm
Memorial services for Dorothy Siler Musick of Foss Lake will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Butler with Rev. Roy Wilburn and Rev. Jack Pilgrim officiating.
She was married to Clinton police detective Tom Siler who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her parents and two brothers, L.G. and Charlie Jones.
On Aug. 13, 1992 she married T.J. Musick. She retired from Safeway after some 24 years of service. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Butler.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Martin Funeral Home in Elk City.
Survivors include her husband, T.J. Musick, of the home; two daughters, Tammy Jeffrey and her husband, Danny, of Foss Lake, and Gloria Hanke and her husband, Doug, of Butler; a brother, Wayne Jones; five grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
McCormick funeral set at 3:13 pm
Chapel services for James Edward “Jimmy” McCormick, age 79 of Clinton, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Stanley-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton with minister Pat Peters officiating.
Growing up in Kentucky, he attended school there before moving to Clinton in the 1940’s.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
On May 21, 1947 he married Billie Gail Williams in Arapaho, and the young couple made their home in Clinton where he drove for the Yellow Cab, worked for the City Water Department, drove a bread truck for Kenneth Thomas and worked at Kellwood.
In his spare time he enjoyed gardening, jigsaw puzzles and building Popsicle stick birdhouses. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were two infant daughters; a brother, George; five sisters; a son-in-law, Scott Chaney; and an infant granddaughter.
Burial will conclude in the Clinton Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Billie Gail of the home; three daughters, Suzanne Chaney of Weatherford, Rebecca J. Mills III of California, Victoria Hester of Wheat Ridge, Colo.; a son, Derwood Fowler; 10 grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
Warkentin services set at 2:11 pm
Memorial services for H. Irwin (H.I.) Warkentin, age 92 of Corn, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Corn Mennonite Brethren Church with pastor Ken Gardner (and perhaps pastor Leonard Vogt) officiating.
Warkentin died Friday, Aug. 13, 2004, at Corn. He was born on Aug. 24, 1911 on the family farm north of Corn, the son of Henry J. (H.J.) and Anna (Leppke) Warkentin.
He attended Grandview School for the first eight grades before graduating from Corn Bible Academy.
Warkentin was a lifelong member of the Corn Mennonite Brethren Church, having been baptized at the age of 19.
He married the former Edna Janzen on Aug. 8, 1937, a union that lasted for 49½ years.
Warkentin was the oldest surviving member of “The Gospel Team” ministry that traveled around to churches in neighboring towns and to the Oklahoma City Rescue Mission.
He taught a variety of Sunday school classes and filled in at the nursing home for many years.
Warkentin was a farmer, raising wheat, cotton and dairy cattle until his retirement in 1975. He sold his farm equipment at age 82. For three years he lived in a retirement apartment at Weatherford prior to moving into Corn Heritage Village in 1999.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents and his wife, Edna, were three sons, Floyd, Wayne and Wendell, who died as toddlers; a brother, Gerald Roland; four sisters; and a daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Warkentin.
Interment will be in a cemetery at Corn under the direction of the Stanley-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton.
Survivors include daughters, Frances Gathright and her husband, Jack, of Oklahoma City, Rowena Rhodes and her husband, Carl, of Corn; sons, Richard Warkentin of Concord, Calif., Michael Warkentin and his wife, Georgia, of Norman; granddaughter, Brianna Auge and her husband, Ethan; great granddaughters, Elleanna Faye of Weatherford, Margaret Gathright of Oklahoma City; a grandson, Jeffrey Gathright and his wife, Shelli, of Oklahoma; three sisters, Martha Pass of Stillwater, Ruth Fourier nof Chico, Calif., Viola Huebert and her husband, Allen, of Reedley; and many nieces and nephews.

Musick died Thursday at her Foss Lake home. She was born and reared at Tonganoxie, Kans. where she graduated from high school.
McCormick died early Friday, July 9, 2004, at his Clinton home. He was born on Oct. 12, 1924, in Providence, Ky., the son of Herbert and Aurelia (O’Brien) McCormick.
