JACK WALKER PARRISH
Jack Walker Parrish was born August 21st, 1925, in Ponca City, OK. Jack died November 29, 2007 in Oklahoma City, OK.
Shortly after graduation from Ponca City High School, he entered the United States Army where he served as a Ranger in World War II. After returning from serving overseas, he attended Oklahoma A&M, graduating in 1949. He attended the University of Oklahoma and received his Doctorate in Medicine in 1953. He married Ramona Mae Campbell on December 22, 1949. He served the community of Seminole, OK as a family physician from 1954 to 1979. In 1979, he became the first Chairman of the Family Practice Residency Program at the University of Oklahoma. He served as President of the Oklahoma Academy of Family Physicians from 1970 to 1971. Jack served as head of the Industrial Medicine Department of McBride Clinic in Oklahoma City from 1981 until his retirement. After retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren as well as volunteering at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum. During his lifetime he was active in his church and volunteered many hours at the OU School of Medicine and with the Boy Scouts. He was awarded the Boy Scouts Silver Beaver in 1975.
He led a full life as a beloved husband, father and respected physician.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters and one grandchild.
He is survived by his wife, Ramona Mae Parrish, his children David Parrish and wife Sharon of Garland, TX; Richard Parrish and wife Robbin of Oklahoma City, OK; Gary Parrish and wife Julie of Oklahoma City, OK; Cynthia Dockins and husband Tim of Duncanville, TX; nine grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service to honor the life of Jack Walker Parrish will be held Monday, December 3rd, 2007 at 1 p.m. at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, 2717 W. Hefner Road, Oklahoma City, OK.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Jack W. Parrish Endowment Fund, c/o Boy Scouts of America, Last Frontier Council, 3031 NW 64th St., Oklahoma City, OK 73116. This fund was established to benefit scouts with special needs.

MILDRED MARIE KING
The funeral for Mildred Marie King, 92, will be 11 a.m. Friday at Central Baptist Church. The Rev. Gordon Ingle will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. Arrangements are by Abernathy-Aaron Funeral Home, Crescent.
She was born Aug. 4, 1915, in Dover to Richard and Dora Foglesong Grape and died Monday, Nov. 26, 2007, in Oklahoma City.
She attended Dover schools and was a member of Dover Christian Church. She also attended the Methodist Church while living in Arkansas.
She married Clarence Barker Sept. 27, 1932. She later married Odell King in May 1960. They moved to Arkansas, where she worked at the Fourche Valley School in Bluffton. Following his death she moved to Crescent, where she was a cook for the Crescent Care Center.
Surviving are one daughter, Betty Mitchell of Dover; one son, Robert “Bob” Barker of Marshfield, Mo.; one sister, Marian Sebring of Crescent; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Odell, two brothers and one sister.

CARL HANSHU
The funeral for Carl Hanshu, 91, of Shattuck, will be 2 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church of Shattuck. The Revs. Floyd Thiessen and Lisa Beavers will officiate. Burial will be in Shattuck Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are by Johnson’s Good Samaritan Funeral Service, Shattuck.
He was born Sept. 10, 1916, southwest of Fargo to George and Mary Hanshu and died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2007, in Shattuck.
In 1927, at age 11, he moved with his family southwest of Darrouzett, where he graduated from Darrouzett High School in 1933. He later graduated from Texas Tech University in 1941 with a bachelor of science degree in agriculture.
He enlisted in the Army Air Force in February 1942, serving as a link trainer instructor. He received an honorable discharge with the rank of corporal in May 1943.
He married Gertrude Koch April 19, 1942, in Seguin, Texas. They lived south of Darrouzett for 60 years, where they farmed before moving to Shattuck. She died July 12, 2007.
Surviving are one son, Clinton Hanshu of Shattuck; a daughter, Carla Bilderback of El Paso, Texas; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Gertie, he was preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters.

MARGUERITE ‘MARGE’ G. SANDERS
The funeral for Marguerite “Marge” G. Sanders, 93, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Byron Neufeld will officiate. A graveside service will be 3 p.m. in Resthaven Cemetery, Wichita, Kan. Arrangements are by Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
She was born June 21, 1914, in Nowata to Hugh and Mary Zelger Wetzel and died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2007, in Enid.
She married Ernest Sanders and was a member of West Haysville Baptist Church, Haysville, Kan.
Surviving are one daughter, Mary Bigheart; one stepdaughter, Bernie Sanders; one brother, Bobby Jack Wetzel; one sister, Jo Ann Cameron; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest, numerous brothers and sisters and one stepson.

CECIL R. WITHEROW
A memorial service for Cecil R. Witherow, 79, of Billings, will be 2 p.m. Friday at Antelope Valley Church of the Brethren, south of Billings. Russell Betz, pastor, will officiate. Inurnment will be in Union Cemetery, Billings. Arrangements are by Dugger Funeral Home, Billings.
He was born March 31, 1928, in Mineral Bluff, Ga., to Ernest and Georgia Postell Witherow and died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2007, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.
He married Leonna Choate June 28, 1970, in Fremont, Calif. He was a roofing contractor for more than 50 years, retiring in 1993. He was a member of Antelope Valley Church of the Brethren of Billings and Moose Lodge in California.
Surviving are his wife, Leonna; one daughter, Diane Saunders of Patterson, Calif.; two brothers, Richard Witherow of Riverside, Calif., and Jim Witherow of Mineral Bluff; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

JAMES GARRETT SPICER
A graveside service for James Garrett Spicer, 66, of Tulsa, will be 1 p.m. Friday in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hazelton, Kan. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home Inc., Kiowa, Kan.
He was born April 18, 1941, in Anthony, Kan., to James T. and Pauline Fullerton Spicer and died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2007, at St. Francis Hospital, Tulsa.
He was raised on a farm near Hazelton. His family later moved to a ranch near Eureka, Kan., where he graduated from Eureka High School in 1959.
He married Beverley Halsey in 1963. They made their home in Wichita.
Surviving are his children, Kimberly Spicer Langley, Todd Spicer, Shane Spicer and Angela Spicer Bailor, all of Tulsa; one sister, Vicki Flickinger of Burrton, Kan.; one brother, Steven Spicer of Halstead, Kan.; and 11 grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the funeral home on behalf of the family.

BRADEN CHANCE NEWTON
The funeral for Braden Chance Newton, 23, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Cimarron Public Schools gymnasium, Lahoma. Manuel Beckner and Jason Beckner will officiate. Burial will be in Cleo Springs Cemetery. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home Inc., Helena.
He was born July 9, 1984, in Cleo Springs to Carl and Celeesa Beckner Newton and died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.
He grew up in the Ames area, graduating from Cimarron High School in 2002, and attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University-Enid. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in September 2003, serving in Iraq. He later trained for mountain warfare and began a tour of duty in the Kunar province of Afghanistan. He was honorably discharged in September 2007.
Surviving are his wife, Sarah; 4-month-old daughter, Madalynn; his mother, Celeesa Newton of Enid; his father, Carl Newton and stepmother, Pam, of Cleo Springs; one sister, Catessa Tomlinson of Edmond; brothers, O’Ryan Newton of Yukon, Kristan Newton of Ames and Chadrick Newton of Oklahoma City; stepsister, Jona Eastman of Jenks; stepbrother, Justin Nightengale of Mount Pleasant, S.C.; and grandmother, Jennie Newton of Cleo Springs.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home in Braden’s memory for a college fund for his daughter, Ames Volunteer Fire Department or Jaynes Kennedy American Legion Post of Ames.

INEZ RUTH JOHNSON
The funeral for Inez Ruth Johnson, 96, will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, Buffalo. Mike Barton will officiate. Burial will be in Willow Cemetery, Paruna, northeast of Buffalo. Arrangements are by Wilkinson Funeral Service, Buffalo.
She was born June 23, 1911, in Paruna to Thomas Tobias and Clema Hayes Pierce Johnson and died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2007, at Grave Living Center.
She was raised and attended school Paruna. She worked in various homes in the community, taking care of children and house cleaning. She was a caregiver in Harper County and a member of First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school.
Surviving are six nephews and nine nieces.
She was preceded in death by six brothers.

DONNA C. CHANCE
Funeral services for Donna C. Chance, 79, of Enid, will be 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, 2007, at First Presbyterian Church. Rev. Pat Hoerth will officiate. Burial will be in Enid Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
She was born May 12, 1928, in Potwin, KS to Charles Morris and Hannah Dora Weber McCarty and passed away Friday, Nov. 23, 2007, at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City after a brief illness. She was raised in Kansas, graduating from Wichita North High School.
Donna married Harold A. Chance April 15, 1946, in Marion, KS, and he passed away June 6, 2003.
She worked for Dr. Karns for a few years, later working for the Department of Human Services. She was an administrative assistant at the time of her death.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, member of Medical Assistants Association for several years and a member of Beta Sigma Phi.
Survivors include two daughters, Kathryn Crenshaw and husband John of Enid and Susie Wilmont of Readyville, TN; two sons, Don Chance and wife Mariann of Enid and Charles Chance of Oklahoma City; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers.
Memorials may be made to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, breast division, with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home acting as custodian of the funds.

STEPHEN K. LOTT
A private family memorial service for Stephen Kent Lott, 55, will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home and Crematory. He died Monday, Nov. 26, 2007, at his home in Enid.
He grew up in Illinois and graduated from Chester, IL High School. He then joined the United States Air Force. He served in Vietnam.
On Sept. 11, 1975, he married Treva Ann Daniels in Cahokia, IL. He was stationed at many Air Force bases, including Germany, Philippines, Turkey, then in 1988 Vance Air Force Base in Enid. He retired from the Air Force in August 1991. He immediately went to work for Northrop at Vance AFB as a driver of a fuel truck. He worked for Trend Western until September 2005, when illness forced his retirement.
Stephen is survived by his wife, Treva, of the home; three sons, Brian K. Rottnek of San Diego, CA, James P. Rottnek of St. Louis, MO, and Alan M. Rottnek of Fairbanks, Alaska; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Memorials may be made to Hospice Circle of Love.

CHAN DUEL
A memorial service celebrating the life of Chan Duel will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 30, 2007, at Hennessey First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) with Rev. Randy Burke officiating. A military burial will follow in North Lions Cemetery, Marshall, OK under the direction of Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home.
George Chanley (Chan) Duel was born Dec. 5, 1930, in Carmen, OK to Butch and Jerry Duel and passed into his eternal rest on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2007 at noon.
He graduated from Marshall High School in May 1949, where he was an outstanding athlete. He played tailback and was captain of his football team and also played basketball and baseball. He participated in FFA and was a member of the Marshall High School marching band. He graduated from Oklahoma State University in January 1954 with a BS in arts and science. He then received his masters degree in secondary education from OSU in 1959. While at OSU he was a member of the Delta Chi Fraternity.
He was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army on March 1, 1954. Chan was stationed at Fort Hood, Killeen, Texas, followed by San Marcos, Texas Air Force Base. His next assignments were Fort Benning, Georgia and Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, CO. He was stationed at Wharton Barracks in Heilbronn, Germany and also at Memau, Germany. He went through jump school at Fort Benning to get his parachute wings in the Special Forces, Green Beret. He enjoyed rappelling from mountainsides during his tour of duty as well as coaching the battalion football team in Germany. He was recalled to service at Fort Hood, Texas, in September 1990 for Desert Storm and retired from active duty after 34 years of service as a Lieutenant Colonel. He served in the Army Reserves throughout his military career.
He coached football, basketball and baseball while teaching history and driver’s education. He made education a priority and, together with his wife, provided quality education for all three of his children. He served as a principal for both elementary and high school. While at Okemah, he received the Outstanding Young Educator Award for the State of Oklahoma. He loved coaching as well as teaching in several communities including Marshall, Garber, Shattuck, Okemah and Ringwood. He coached the 1969 boys state basketball championship team at Ringwood.
He loved to dance, especially square dancing with his wife, Marilyn. He also enjoyed horse trail rides in Colorado and went on a buffalo roundup in South Dakota with his horse “Jed.” He also enjoyed golfing and water and snow skiing.
He farmed for a number of years and raised cattle and horses and helped his son-in-law Jeff Zelnicek with wheat crops as needed.
After teaching, he worked at Thurmond-McGlothlin for 15 years. Chan and Marilyn loved to travel, especially to Alaska, Europe, Canada, Mexico and most of the United States. He was a Scoutmaster, Jaycee, and served as Lions president. He volunteered in Hennessey for many civic projects. He was a lifelong fan of the Dallas Cowboys, OSU Cowboys and OU Sooners. He was a member of Oklahoma Shorthorn Association and Hennessey Country Club.
Chan and Marilyn Curry began dating in the ninth grade and were married Jan. 23, 1953. They celebrated a wonderful golden anniversary in 2003. They have spent a lot of time traveling to see their children and grandchildren in various activities both in and out of state. Spending time with his family was his life. He had a deep love for his God, his church, his family, and his country.
He was an active member of the Hennessey First Christian Church, serving as an elder, board chairman and participating with the local men’s group and District II Christian Men’s Fellowship.
He will be remembered as a man of great integrity and generosity. Chan was a devoted husband, dad, granddad “PaPa Chan” and will be missed by those who love him. He set a wonderful example of Christian living. How fortunate to be so remembered. The world is diminished by his death but enhanced by his life. He left many cherished memories, and we will miss him greatly and may God receive him into the Kingdom of Heaven.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Marilyn; devoted daughters, Carma Taylor and husband Jim of Norman and Alisa Zelnicek and husband Jeff of Edmond; devoted son, Mike and wife Cindy of Memphis, TN. He was blessed with grandchildren, Micha Hughes and husband Jason of Yukon, Chan Aaron of the U.S. Navy, Kaylee and Braden Zelnicek of Edmond and Sullivan Duel of Memphis, TN; two great-grandchildren, Hattie and Libbie Hughs of Yukon; his mother, Jerry Duel of Oklahoma City; sister, Dena Sponsler and husband Jim of Eufaula; and sister-in-law, Wanda Duel Fairbrother of McCall, Idaho.
Chan was preceded in death by his father, Butch Duel, Marshall; his brother, Thad Duel, McCall, Idaho; and a precious grandson, Drennen Michael Duel of Memphis, TN.
Donations to the Hennessey Christian Church, North Lions Cemetery in Marshall, OK or Hospice Circle of Love of Enid in his honor would be appreciated.
