The funeral for Bert Sampson, 98, of Enid, will be 3 p.m. Monday at Henninger-Allen Fun-eral Home Chapel. Keith Mil-ler, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cem-etery. Vis-itation will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday.
He was born April 9, 1908, in Texico, N.M., to Adolphus J. and Mary E. Sampson and died Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2006.
The family moved to Greer County, where he attended elementary and secondary school, graduating from Gould High School in 1928.
He earned an undergraduate degree in education from Oklahoma State University and a master’s degree from Phillips University.
He taught for 40 years in the public school system, the last 25 at Emerson Junior High School, before retiring in 1973. He was a member of First Baptist Church and a deacon for many years.
Surviving are one daughter, Sylvia Nelson of Oklahoma City; one son, Jim Sampson of Richardson, Texas; one brother, Jack Sampson of Santa Cruz, Calif.; four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred; his second wife, Ruth; one brother; and three sisters.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children.
Leonard Burling, after a long struggle with cancer, died peacefully at his home in Dalton, GA on Monday, Oct. 31, 2006.
Leonard was born in Alva Aug. 7, 1944, and attended school in Alva, Midwest City, OK and Derby, KS.
After graduation he joined the U.S. Army and received his paratrooper badge with the 82nd Airborne Division.
He served overseas in Korea policing the DMZ and upon his return he qualified to wear the Green Beret as a member of the Special Forces.
He then served 18 months in Vietnam, earning the Bronze Star with V device and a Purple Heart with oak leaf cluster.
He later served as adviser to the National Guard Unit in Enid, retiring after 20 years service as a Master Sergeant (E8).
Leonard is survived by his wife Ellen of the home in Dalton; his mother Doris and husband Ben Parsons of Enid; his father Wayne and wife Fern of Midwest City, OK. Other survivors are his daughters Toni Burling of Woodward, Tracey Criswell of Alva, and Tina Gelnar of Mangum, OK.; a son, Sloane and his wife Melissa of Mooreland, OK; three stepsons, Eric Cservak of Fort Myers, FL and Stephen and Darrin Cservak of Enid; a sister Karen and husband Vaughn Caldwell of Alva; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; aunts and uncles, nephews and nieces.
Leonard loved his country and served it faithfully.
A sidelong glance and wry smile meant you were in for some heavy-duty ribbing.
His humor will be fondly remembered by his extended military family, other friends and relatives.
A family memorial service will be held for Myra Aileen Geddes at a later date in Puyallup, Washing-ton. Cre-mation ar-rangements are by An-derson-Burris Fun-eral Home and Crema-tory. There will be no visitation or viewing.
She was born to Arthur and Lydia (Kobi) Burgess on Feb. 2, 1912, in Tacoma, Washington, and died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2006, at Integris Bass Baptist Health Center in Enid, Oklahoma.
She grew up in Puyallup, Washington, graduating from high school there.
On Feb. 1, 1936, she married Robert William Geddes, and they made their home in Puyallup.
She was a homemaker and mother.
Myra was a member of Fruitland Grange for over 70 years, and a member of the First Baptist Church in Puyallup.
For the last nine years, she has lived with her granddaughter, Dennette and her family, traveling with them in their military assignments. The family moved to Enid in 2004.
She is survived by her daughter, Joan Alger and husband Lance of Yuma, Arizona; two grandchildren, Dennette Conroy and husband Ed of Enid, and Michelle Wiedman and husband Donald of Puyallup, WA; seven great-grandchildren, Lyndsey, and Chris Claassen, Tyler, Megan and Jessica Atkins, Josh Moore, and Alexa Conroy; and one sister, Ernie Storrs of Portland, OR.
Myra was preceded in death by her husband Robert, three brothers and one sister.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Hospice Circle of Love.

Funeral services for Maxine “Mickey” Sudol, age 77, will be Saturday, Nov. 11, 2006, at 2 p.m. at the Ladusau-Evans Fun-eral Home Chapel. Rev. Paul Hass will officiate. Burial will be in Me-morial Park Cemetery. The casket will remain closed.
She was born Oct. 6, 1929, in Okeene, OK to Jess and Phoebe (Cain) Miller and died Nov. 9, 2006, in Enid.
She was raised in Longdale and in Enid, where she attended and then graduated from St. Joseph Catholic School.
She married Joseph L. Sudol on March 3, 1951, in Enid. He passed away June 29, 1979.
She worked as an office manager at Newman’s Mer-cantile, retiring after several years.
Maxine was a loving and caring mother and adored her grandchildren.
The “girls” loved their Granny and will miss her presents. She will be missed by all.
Survivors are sons, Wayne Sudol and his wife Marilyn, of Enid, Brian Sudol and his wife Donna of Edmond; daughters, Jolene Semrad of Enid, Marlene Sudol of Enid; six grandchildren, Zachary, Joshua, Matthew, Joseph, Calvin and Joey; one great-grandchild, Ebin; special girls, Lucy, Ethel, Ellie Mae and special friend, Wanda-lene Free of Enid; and one sister, Opal McMahan of Enid.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, seven brothers and five sisters.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s or the Oklahoma Medical Research Founda-tion-heart division with Lad-usau-Evans Funeral Home as custodian of the funds.

The funeral for Mary Ellen Ritthaler Smelser, 84, of New Braunfels, Texas, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church, Perry. The Rev. Martin Foster will officiate. Burial will be in Grace Hill Cemetery, Perry. Arrangements are by Brown-Dugger Funeral Home, Perry.
She was born Nov. 3, 1922, in Perry to Frank and Elizabeth Richardson Ritthaler and died Monday, Nov. 6, 2006.
She graduated from Perry High School in 1939 and attended Oklahoma College for Women and Oklahoma A&M.
She married Irwin “Neil” Smelser April 10, 1948, in Enid. They made their home in Perry and relocated to Oregon in January 1954.
She worked as a secretary and word processor for Department of Human Services in Perry. She also worked at First National Bank of Perry. She retired in Austin, Texas, in September 1993.
She was a marathon walker for special-cause organizations and a church pianist. She also belonged to Austin Police Department’s Texas Volunteer Militia and was a Realtor agent in Oregon and Texas.
Surviving are her ex-husband, Neil of Stanfield, Ore.; children, Edwin K. Smelser of Hermiston, Ore., Karen Wilde of Arlington, Ore., and Mary Jo Hyatt of New Braunfels; one brother, Richard Ritthaler of Elk City; two grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; and eight stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, one brother and two sisters.

The funeral for Tom McDonald, 72, of Woodward, will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at New Horizon United Methodist Church, Woodward. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Woodward. Arrangements are by Billings Funeral Home, Wood-ward.
He died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2006, in Enid.
The funeral for Hallie “Mert” Evans, 71, of Pond Creek, will be 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, Pond Creek. The Revs. Dale Taylor, Mike Napier and Richard Awtrey will officiate. Burial will be in Pond Creek Cemetery. Arrangements are by Wilson Funeral Home, Pond Creek. Family visitation will be 6 to 8:30 p.m. today at First Baptist Church, Pond Creek.
He was born Aug. 5, 1935, in Nash to Conrad Russell and Elva Crain Evans and died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2006, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.
He was raised and educated in Nash, graduating from Nash High School. He attended Oklahoma State University in Stillwater.
He married Eloise Overton March 9, 1963, in Pond Creek where he farmed and ranched. He was a member of Pond Creek-Hunter Young Farmers, FFA Alumni and was an honorary chapter farmer. He was a founding member of FSW Rural Water District, served on the fair board and played Santa Claus for the Chamber of Commerce for 25 years. He also was a member of First Baptist Church, Pond Creek.
Surviving are his wife, Eloise of the home in Pond Creek; three sons, Shannon Evans of Monte-zuma, Kan., Sheldon Evans of Udall, Kan., and Shayne Evans of Pond Creek; one brother, Conrad Evans of Stillwater; four sisters, Orrana Felix of Perryton, Texas, Kathleen Hayes of Moore, Ilus Overton of Pond Creek and Marilyn Foster of Nash.
He was preceded in death by one brother.
Memorials may be made to Pond Creek Fire Department, Gideons, Caldwell Cowboy Church or the charity of donor’s choice.
A family memorial service for Joe Ann McNatt, 59, of Enid, will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home and Crematory. There will be no visitation or viewing.
She was born Aug. 1, 1947, in Casa Grande, Ariz., to Alfred and Lena Mae Haney Adams and died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2006, in Enid.
She grew up in Arizona and Nevada.
She married Clayburn Junior McNatt April 21, 1973. They made their home in Enid. She worked as a waitress, cook and housekeeper.
Surviving are her husband, Clay of the home; five brothers, Bobby Gene, Ralph, Donny, Willie and Roy Adams; and one sister, Sharon Snow, all of Enid.
She was preceded in death by one daughter and a sister.

The funeral for Gerald F. Bridgforth, 65, of Helena, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Helena. The Revs. Jeff Flournoy and Dean Holt will officiate. Burial will be in Good Hope Cemetery, south of Helena. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home Inc., Helena. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday with the family being present from 6 to 8 p.m.
He was born May 6, 1941, in Peculiar, Mo., to Wilford and Lena Musick Bridgforth and died Sunday, Nov. 5, 2006, at the V.A. Hospital in Oklahoma City.
He served in the Army from 1963 to 1966, serving nearly a year in the Vietnam War. He earned Sharpshooter Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal.
He moved from Belton, Mo., to Helena. He worked for B&B Sand and Gravel as sand plant manager. He was a member of Helena Volunteer Fire Department for 20 years and was past noble grand of I.O.O.F. in Belton. He was a member of Pentecostal Church, Anchorage, Alaska.
Surviving are one daughter, Jeannie Luginbill of Stillwater; one son, Gerald F. Bridgforth II of Lampe, Mo.; one sister, Wanda Courtney of Belton; one brother, Norman Bridgforth of Helena; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
