FREDERICK EARL HAWK
A memorial service for Frederick Earl Hawk, 57, will be 11 a.m. today at Union Chapel Church. The Rev. Clarence Herrin Jr. will officiate. Burial of cremains will be at a later date in Lyon Valley Cemetery. Arrangements are by Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home, Hennessey.
He was born Feb. 11, 1950, in McAlester to Earl and Ada Opal Herrin Hawk and died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2007, at Carl Albert Hospital, Ada.
He graduated from Hennessey High School in 1969. He served with the Marine Corps in Vietnam.
Surviving are one son, Lonnie Hawk of Shawnee and one brother, James Hawk of Chandler.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

CALVIN ‘BRUCE’ CARPENTER
A graveside service for Calvin “Bruce” Carpenter, 57, will be 1 p.m. Tuesday in Fairview Cemetery, Fairview. The Rev. Richert Redinger will officiate. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home Inc., Fairview.
He was born July 1, 1950, in Fairview to George Raymond Carpenter and Wilda Marie Humphrey Carpenter and died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007, in Canon City, Colo.
He grew up in Paonia, Colo., and joined the Army in 1968, serving with the AmerCal Division Headquarters Troop First Armored Calvary Division. He served three tours of duty in Vietnam and was awarded two Purple Hearts, the Silver Star, the Bronze Star, the Vietnam Accommodation, Cross of Gallantry, and the Vietnamese Service Medal. He received the honorary discharge in September 1971. He worked in the oilfield for several years.
He married Sherry Ann Jones Oct. 6, 1975, in Taos, N.M. They made their home in Fairview for several years. In the early 1980s they moved to Del Norte, Colo., where he worked for the Colorado Department of Transportation for 25 years. He received an accommodation from the State of Colorado for rescuing a woman and her family from a snow bank. Following his retirement, they lived in Canon City. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4061 in Canon City and the Elk’s Club.
Surviving are his wife, Sherry, and son Jayson, both of Canon City; four brothers, Bob Carpenter of Tulsa, Allen and Pete Carpenter, both of Modesto, Calif., and Frank Carpenter of Fresno, Calif.; one sister, Wanda Dixon of Fairview; his stepfather, Ira J. Fyffe of Ames; and three grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 39.

CATHY SUE EISCHEN (w/pix)
Rosary services for Cathy Sue Eischen, 45, will be 7 p.m. today at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Okeene. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the church. The Rev. James Mickus will officiate. Burial will be 4:30 p.m. in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Okarche. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home Inc. There will be no public viewing. Guest may sign the register at the funeral home.
She was born March 18, 1962, in Tulsa to Roy L. and Shirley M. Venable Clymer and died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007, at Integris Baptist Medical Center, Oklahoma City.
She grew up in Tulsa and moved to El Reno where she graduated from El Reno High School in 1980. She attained her bachelor’s degree in English education from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 1985.
She married Pete Eischen June 3, 1983, in El Reno. In 1984, they moved to Fairview to start a new business. She was instrumental in the Fairview Meals on Wheels program for 23 years and was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Okeene. She was a charter member of the Mu Gamma Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, a coordinator for Meals on Wheels and a member of the PEO.
Surviving are her husband, Pete, of Fairview; one son, Jeffrey J. Eischen of Fairview; one daughter, Megan L. Eischen of Fairview; her parents, Roy L. and Shirley M. Clymer of Enid; and one brother, Scott Clymer of Edmond.
She was preceded in death by an infant sister.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Fairview Meals on Wheels, Fairview Hospital Foundation or O.M.R.F., cancer research.

AVIS PHARES
Graveside services for Avis Phares, 83, of Enid, will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2007, in Enid Cemetery. Chaplain Walter Fitzsimons from The Commons Methodist Care Center will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
She was born to Benjamin and Fern Bryan Mayfield on Feb. 4, 1924, in Neodesha, KS. She passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007, at The Commons.
She went to school in Coffeyville, KS
She married LeRoy Phares Aug. 5, 1942, in Enid, OK. She was a homemaker and raised her children and also raised Darla and Tracey. LeRoy passed Nov. 21, 1975. Avis went to work at the Monroe Elementary in the cafeteria until she retired. She sewed homemade quilts and did ironing for lots of people.
Survivors include three daughters, Madonna McElfresh and her husband Anthony of Enid, Suzanna (Sue) Payne and her husband Ken of Enid, and Cecilia Marker of Edmond, OK; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, a son, a granddaughter, and two great-great-granddaughters.
Memorials may be made to Hospice Circle of Love with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.

ROY T. CAGLE
Roy T. Cagle, 89-year-old Woodward resident, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2007, in Enid. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2007, in Woodward at Billings Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tony Barros officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery under the direction of Billings Funeral Home.
Roy T. Cagle was born Sept. 6, 1918, in Bethany, OK. He was the son of Granville Lee and Rowena Freedona C. (Gibson) Cagle. He grew up in Bethany and attended Bethany and Putnam schools. He attended high school at Central High School in Oklahoma City where he played football, and in 1938, the year he graduated, was selected as an All-State player and was selected as a member of the first All-State team in Oklahoma. Roy received a four-year football scholarship in 1938 from the University of Oklahoma in Norman. He played two years at OU before joining the U.S. Navy in 1941, serving during World War II.
On June 4, 1945, Roy was married to Odessa Eileen Johnson in Stockton, CA. To this union three children were born, Michael Roy and the twins Mark and Marla. In 1947, Roy went to work for Halliburton Service, working in Pauls Valley, Cushing, Fairfax, Enid and Woodward before retiring in 1982 after 35 years of service. During his retirement, playing golf was Roy’s main hobby. Roy attended the Nazarene Church in Bethany and First Baptist Church in Woodward.
He is survived by his daughter, Marla Dugger and her husband Tim of Enid; seven grandchildren, James Michael Cagle and wife Susan of Whitter, AR, Canda Leigh White and husband Sam of Shawnee, James David Cagle and wife Lori of Springdale, AR, Shae Lynn Cagle of Sterling, CO, Lacy Dyan Gee and husband Chris of Edmond, Tara Ann Rogers and husband Dan of Seattle, WA, Jennilee Wood of Norman; 11 great-grandchildren; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eileen in 1997; two sons, Mark in 1982 and Michael Roy in 2000; his parents; one brother, Oscar in 2004; and one sister, Connie Thomas.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Enid Hospice, Circle of Love with the funeral home accepting the memorials.

MILDRED LIGHT
A graveside service for Mildred Elizabeth Light, 88, of Grants Pass, Ore., formerly of Enid, will be 10 a.m. Monday in the Garden Chapel of Memorial Park Cem-etery. Wes Light will officiate. Arrange-ments are by Lad-usau-Evans Funeral Home.
She was born Nov. 8, 1916, in Imperial, Texas to Porter Franklin and Allie Mae McKee Bradley and died Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2005, at Shirley Simons Care Facility of Grants Pass, Ore.
She was raised in the Jefferson-Medford area and later moved to Enid.
She married Clifton Light, and they made their home in Enid. He died May 5, 1992. She later moved to Oregon.
Surviving are two daughters, Bonnie Maulsby and Brenda Lorenz, both of Oregon; one son, Jack Light of Enid; two sisters, Jody Schuermann of Pond Creek and Gracie Arnold of Ponca City; nine grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, Clifton, she was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.

RAYMOND O. REDFERN
The funeral for Raymond O. Redfern, 71, of Jay, will be 10 a.m. Monday at Brown-Cummings Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Jim Martin will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Herman Cemetery, Jay.
He was born Jan. 17, 1934, in Jet to Daniel and Marie Jones Redfern and died Friday, Oct. 14th, 2005, at his home.
He was raised and educated in Helena. In 1952, he enlisted in the Navy during the Korean War. Following his discharge in 1960, he lived in Panama City, Fla. He was a millwright engineer for Daniels Construction for 25 years, retiring in 1980. He moved to Enid in 2002.
He married Parnell E. Duncan in 1947. She died in 2001. He married Mary Etta West. She died in 2005. He then married Glendia Adams.
He was a member of American Legion and Disabled American Veterans.
Surviving are his wife Glendia of the home; one son, Daniel Redfern of Carolina; one daughter Nancy Marie Medina of Panama City, Fla.; one stepdaughter, Michelle Mungia of Enid; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wives, Parnell and Mary Etta.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.

ANNIE SARABETH STEELE
The funeral for Annie Sarabeth Steele, 84, of Clovis, N.M., will be 10 a.m. Monday in Liberty Cemetery, Major County. The Rev. Charles Newton will officiate. Arrangements are by Marshall Funeral Home, Waynoka.
She was born May 4, 1921, near Sherman to Abram Miller and Pearl Cox Hubbard Fitzsimmons and died Thursday, Oct. 20, 2005, at Clovis.
She attended country grade school and consolidated high school. She was a member of Cedardale Christian Church.
She married Francis Howard Steele Jan. 1, 1938. They moved to Clovis in 1942. They had a cattle trucking business. She was the bookkeeper and telephone operator. He died Sept. 29, 2002.
She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution, El Portal chapter.
Surviving are three sons, Francis Steele of Houston, Howard Lynn Steele of Lincoln City, Ore, and Gary Steele of Clovis\; one daughter, Nancy Jane Steele of Dallas; one sister Neva Steele of Clovis; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to American Cancer Society.

WAYNE ELDON SHOLTESS
The funeral for Wayne Eldon Sholtess, 82, of Fairview will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Cedar Springs Church of the Nazarene. Rev. Virlon Chambers will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home Inc.
He was born Feb. 2, 1923, in Longdale to Charlie Loyd and Anny Lilly Weiler Sholtess and died Friday, Oct. 21, 2005, at Oklahoma Heart Hospital, Oklahoma City.
He graduated from Longdale High School and moved to Baltimore, Md., and worked for the Social Security Administration. He later returned home to the family farm.
He married Rubiene Martens Oct. 21, 1945. They lived in Fairview, and he worked as a meat processor.
He married Viola Warkentine Nightengale April 15, 1955, in Fairview. They moved to Bethany in 1956 where he worked for Kings Van -- Storage and received a technical degree in drafting from a business college. In 1959, they moved to Orienta where he farmed, worked as a carpenter and a road grader operator for Major County. He then worked for Helena State School and then Cleo Springs School until his retirement.
He was a member of Cedar Springs Church of the Nazarene, was on the board, taught Sunday school and served as an usher. He played with Northwest Fiddlers and Herb Nickel Group.
Surviving are two sons, Eldon Sholtess of Wichita, Kan., and Merl Sholtess of Yukon; one brother Kenneth Sholtess of Fairview; one sister, Ruthetta Classen of Bethany; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Rubiene, and second wife Viola.
