Wanda Lucille Davis, 80, of Moore, OK. After a lifetime of serving the Lord Jesus with her whole heart, vigorously supporting and loving her husband John for 59 years, and encouraging her children and her grandchildren to walk with the Lord, Wanda Lucille Davis went home to be with the Lord April 6, 2006.
She was born Wanda Lucille Overton Aug. 15, 1925, in Nash, OK. She grew up on a flatland wheat farm with her parents Virgil and Lucy Overton in north central Oklahoma in between Pond Creek and Nash.
Wanda graduated from Nash High School in 1942, and then studied business for one year at Phillips University in Enid. She and her beloved John moved to Norman in 1946, when they married on December the 24th. The Davis’ lived in Pond Creek, Hennessey, Henrietta, and then in 1965, moved to Moore where she lived out her life.
Wanda was 80 years old when she was transferred from the loving embrace of her husband and family into the presence of the One that has been her Lord since she gave her heart to Jesus as a young child. Mother’s life was filled with an intense amount of joy where music played a huge part. She filled her heart with the music of heaven. She filled her home with that music by playing the piano and teaching her children the songs of the church. She loved being involved in the music ministry of her home church wherever she and dad were living at the time. Mother sang with a beautiful alto voice and a radiant smile that will be missed by all who knew her. She was serious about serving the people she loved. In fact, she loved people in general.
She invested nearly 3260 hours as a gift shop volunteer at the Norman Hospital from 1985, until the week she died. Mother invested her life in eternal things like family and faith. She was a true Proverbs 31 woman that worked with her hands, took care of her husband, and her children call her blessed. Mother was a faithful loving wife to my dad, a steadfast mother to her children and a committed unwavering woman of God. Heaven is a sweeter place today because of her arrival.
