The funeral for William Clifton “Bill” Roten Sr., 86, of Crescent will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Abernathy-Aaron Funeral Chapel, Crescent. The Rev. Mark LeMarr will officiate. Burial will be in Crescent Cemetery. Visitation will be 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
He was born Sept. 9, 1919, at Crescent to Tom and Mary Etta Huff Roten and died Sunday, Jan. 8, 2006, at Oklahoma City.
He married Elsie Johnston Dec. 7, 1942, at Crescent. She died Aug. 3, 1992. He married Violet Miller O’dea Aug. 5, 1993, at Las Vegas.
He owned and managed Cimarron Seed Co. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army. He was a member of American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Masonic Lodge.
Surviving are his wife, Violet of the home; one daughter, Elsie Shore of Crescent; one son, William “Bill” Roten Jr. of Owasso; two granddaughters; and one great-grandson.
In addition to his first wife, Elsie, he was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
The funeral for Laura Gibson, 85, of Woodward will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Garden Chapel of Johnson’s Good Samaritan Funeral Service. The Rev. Tim Mascarenas will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
She was born Oct. 19, 1920, in Red Oak to James Marshall and Lula Mae Kerr Maze and died Saturday, Jan. 7, 2006, at Woodward Regional Hospital.
She attended school at Broken Bow. She married Jack Don Huff Sr. They made their home in Eufaula. She later married S. J. Gibson. In 1995, she moved to Woodward and lived the last four years at Crystal Wood Village.
Surviving are her sons, James Bailey and Jack Huff, both of Bonham, Texas, Sam Huff of Woodward and Jim Huff of Hutchinson, Kan.; two daughters, Barbara Layfield and Teena Gowdy, both of Woodward; one brother, James Marshall Maze Jr. of Idabel; one sister, Violet Davis of Broken Bow; 19 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.
Besides her husbands, Jack and S. J., she was preceded in death by two sisters and one daughter.
The funeral for Lourine Holland Smith, 91, of Jet will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Driftwood Christian Church, Driftwood. The Revs. Vernie Hovorka and Gail Edmison will officiate. Burial will be in Driftwood Cemetery. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home Inc., Cherokee.
She was born March 4, 1914, near Driftwood to Harry and Ella Adams Holland and died Saturday, Jan. 7, 2006.
She graduated from Driftwood High School and Wichita Business College. She worked for Dunn and Bradstreet at Wichita, Kan., then moved to Washington, D. C., where she worked for United States Department of Labor.
She married W. Frank Smith in Nov. 1947. They owned and operated Wide Awake Grocery Store. He preceded her in death.
Surviving are her daughter, Karen Johnson of the home; two sisters, Ruby Lembke of Wichita and Loretta Wohlschlegel of Goddard, Kan.; one brother, Donnie Holland of Medicine Lodge, Kan.; one grandson; and three great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, Frank, she was preceded in death by one son, four brothersri and one sister.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Share Hospice of Alva or Nescatunga Fire Department.
The funeral for Lulu Bell Foster, 80, of Fairview will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Fairview Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Brenton Hayworth will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Fairview.
She was born Oct. 30, 1925, in Wade to Albert and Viola Fuller Marten and died Sunday, Jan. 8, 2006, at Fairview Fellowship Home, Fairview.
She attended school in Wade. She married Edgar Leon Foster. They made their home in Buckeye, Ariz. He died in 1995, and she moved back to Enid until 1997, when she moved to the Fellowship Home.
Surviving are one son, Clayburen McNatt of Enid; two daughters, Geneva Adams of Enid and Edith Muta of Newton, Iowa; two sisters, Ellen Covington of Turft, Texas, and Billie Bledsoe of Saginaw, Texas; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, Ed, she was preceded in death by one brother, one granddaughter and one grandson.
Memorials may be made to Fairview Fellowship Home.
Norman Martin Lenker Jr., 68, of Hawkinville, Ga., was born Dec. 19, 1935, in Richmond, Va., and died Dec. 2, 2005, at his home.
He was a native of Richmond and a Baptist. He was a truck driver and an Army veteran.
Surviving are two sisters, Eunice Sharpe of Mineral, Va., and Clara Henshaw of Bumpass, Va.; four children; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one grandchild.
The funeral service for Beverly Callant, 80, of Lakewood, Colorado will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2006, at Columbine United Church, 6375 S. Platte Canyon Road, Littleton, Colorado 80123. Arrangements are by Horan & McConaty Family Chapel. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
She was born October 10, 1925, in Madison, South Dakota to Frank Davis and Maybelle Lakings. She was a retired school teacher.
Surviving are her husband, Bruce of the home; three sons, David and wife, Kelly of Enid; grandchildren, Chelsea and Drew of Enid, Doug and wife Cindy and grandchildren, Spencer and Emma of San Diego, Calif., and Donovan of Denver, Colorado.
Memorials may be made to donor’s choice.
Jane E. Warren was born March 4, 1936, in Ft. Deposit, Alabama and went home to be with her Lord on Sunday morning, January 8, 2006, in Dallas, Texas. She was a graduate of Lowndes County High School, 1954, Judson College in 1958, and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary MRE, 1960.
Mrs. Jane was the epitome of southern hospitality. She loved to cook, loved her family, loved to teach, loved her church and she loved the Lord. All those who knew her well speak fondly of how she made them feel at home and at ease in being who God created them to be. Her boundless joy and zest for a life in Christ made her dynamite soul a blessing to behold. She was a writer of Baptist curriculum and taught in Associational, State, and National training seminars. She loved to teach the Bible and encouraged others to view Scripture from the depths of a profound love and a sense of quiet elegance that made others want to know more about Jesus and His love. She was married to Rev. Melvin L. Warren of Enid, Oklahoma on September 4, 1960, spending 45 plus happy years together.
She is preceded in death by one brother, John Ellis of Ft. Deposit, Alabama, and parents, Hense R. and Ellen H. Ellis of Ft. Deposit, Alabama.
Each member of her family celebrates her life including her husband, one brother, her children, their spouses and an adorable grandchild, as well as a host of other loving family members and friends. We have been belssed! She may have been small, but she was mighty in Spirit. We love you, for we know we were loved by you.
Visitation will be open from 7 to 9 p.m. today, January 10, at Sparkman-Crane Funeral Home, Dallas, Texas. Funeral services will be held at Lakeside Baptist Church, Dallas, Texas, on Wednesday, January 11, 2006, at 10 a.m. with Dr. Gary L. Hearon officiating. Graveside services will be held in Ft. Deposit, Alabama on Thursday, January 12, 2006. The family requests memorials may be made to Mission Odessa, First Baptist Church, 709 N. Lee, Odessa, Texas 79761 in her honor.
A private family graveside service for Myrtle Rosella Mosier, 93, of Enid will be in Garber Cemetery at a later date. She was cremated with arrangements by Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
She was born Feb. 20, 1912, in Texas to Samuel and Myrtle Bailey Lawrence and died Friday, Jan. 6, 2006, at Enid Senior Care Center.
She attended school in Garber. She married K. Mosier in 1945. He died in 1952. She moved to Enid in 1953, where she worked for Oklahoma Laundry.
Surviving are two daughters, Ella Kay Moiser and Rachel B. Moiser, both of Enid; two sisters, Betty Harrison of Bethany and Mary Spears of Ponca City.
The funeral for Luella Mae O’Kelley-Baker, 83, of Justin, Texas, formerly of Enid will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Clarence Glaze will officiate. Burial will be in Enid Cemetery.
She was born June 15, 1922, at Enid to Sam and Levia Reddick Wymore and died Friday, Jan. 6, 2006, in Justin, Texas.
She graduated from Enid High School. She married William Monroe “WM” or “Bud” O’Kelley in August 1939, at Enid. They made their home in Enid, and later Midland, Corpus Christi, and Lewisville, Texas. He died in 1992.
She married Laverne Baker July 19, 1996. They made their home in Enid. He died in Sept. 2000.
She worked in health care, law enforcement and retail. She was a member of First Love Church, Enid, and was an active volunteer at the senior citizens center.
Surviving are three sons, David O’Kelley and Carl O’Kelley, both of Lewisville, Texas, and Mike O’Kelley of Olive Hill, Ken.; three daughters, Wanda Cochrane of Georgetown, Texas, Virginia White of Lubbock, Texas, and LaDonna Marquis of Refugio, Texas; 18 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, WM O’Kelley and Laverne Baker.
The funeral for Randy Wade Severn, 42, of Chester will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Elm Grove Church. The Revs. Pat Henderson and Orville White will officiate. Burial will follow in Chester Cemetery. Arrangements are by Redinger Funeral Home.
He was born Sept. 18, 1963, at Fairview to Wilber and Verla Haldaman Severn and died Saturday, Jan. 7, 2006, at Integris Baptist Medical Center, Oklahoma City.
He graduated from Seiling High School in 1981, where he was active in FFA. He attended technical school at Okmulgee where he studied autobody. He moved to Grapevine, Texas, for three years, moving back to Oklahoma to work for Paul Pierce at Taloga in autobody repair. He had worked at Clayton Service in Chester since he was 14. He returned to that job as a truck driver delivering propane fuel.
He married Rebecca Michelle Barnes Nov. 21, 1992, at Richmond Church. They made their home in Chester. He was a member of Elm Grove Church.
Surviving are his wife, Becky of the home; two children, Rochelle and Ryan, both of the home; his parents, Wilber and Verla Severn of Chester; two sisters, Gayla Severn of Seiling and Sherry Wyckoff of Crown Point, Ind.; and one brother, Gary Severn of Hydro.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to a scholarship fund for his children.
The funeral for Carl John Black, 81, will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Oakwood Auditori-um. Clyde Irving, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Brumfield Cemetery, Seiling, with military rites by Seiling VFW Post 9524 and Seiling American Legion Post 69.
He was born July 27, 1926, near Altus to George and Ruie Stubblefield Black and died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008, at Mercy Health Center, Oklahoma City.
He attended school at Con 6 and graduated from Oakwood High School. After graduation he entered the Army, serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theater during World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1946. He returned to Oklahoma, where he married Arlene Dennis July 9, 1949, at Oakwood. She preceded him in death. He worked as a mechanic at Seiling Hardware for many years. He married Gwendolyn Paris, July 26, 1974, at Canton. They made their home southeast of Seiling, where he continued to work as a mechanic and farm. He attended Oakwood Church of Christ until it closed. He was a charter member of Seiling Veterans of Foreign Wars No. 9524, serving in several offices including post commander. He also helped at Oakwood Cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, Gwen; one son, Mitch, of Canton; three daughters, Janet Kieth of Oakwood, Susan Kegin of Crescent and Dixie Howerton of Enid; four sisters, Clara Chafin and Zela Layton, both of Enid, June Scott of Bloomfield, N.M., and Gracie Fox of Fairmont; two brothers, Duane Black of Ringwood and Harold Black of Oakwood; 10 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his first wife, Arlene, he was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.
