Patsy Cochran

Funeral services for Patsy Annebelle Cochran are scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009, at the Swearingen Funeral Chapel in Seminole.

Pastor Brian Shirley is set to officiate. Interment will follow at Little Cemetery north of Seminole.

Cochran was born Oct. 18, 2008, in Shawnee, to Natika Ann Miles, and died Feb. 20, 2009, at the age of four months and two days.

She is survived by her mother Natika Ann Miles of Bowlegs; her grandparents Brian and Shauna Cochran and Kay Hasbell of Seminole; great-grandpartents Dave and Carolyn Cathey of Bowlegs, Pam and Dale Turley of Snowflake, Ariz., and great-grandfather Louie Richards of Seminole.

Pallbearers will be Austin Miles, Charles Miles, Jesey Miles, and Kassie Cochran. Honorary bearers are listed as Mikayla Cochran, Brian Cochran, Scott Cathey, and Tim Wood.

Henry Coker

Henry Coker, Sr., age 71, died Sunday Feb. 1, 2009 at home surrounded by his family. He was born March 26, 1937 in Wewoka, to Tom and Helen (Larney) Coker. After serving his country in the Air Force, he worked as a truck driver.

Surviving him are his wife, Emma (Starr) Coker; sons, Lucas Coker, Henry Coker, Jr., Zane Lee Coker, William Phillips, Shannon Starr, and John Billie; daughters, Rachel Farani, Alvina Wallace, Madonna Williams, and Anjanette Coker; 20 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death are his parents and son, Don Coker.

A wake service is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3 at Shurden Funeral Home, in Henryetta. Funeral Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday February 4, 2009 at Shurden Funeral Home. Reverend Houston Tiger will be officiating. Burial will follow at Thomas Family Cemetery.

Helen Colbert

Helen Colbert, age 84, a lifelong Seminole county resident, died Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009 at Seminole Medical Center.

She was born Nov. 21, 1924, in Seminole, to John Wolf and Lizzie (Johnson) Kernel.

She graduated from Prairie View High School on May 21, 1943.

She was a homemaker and active in her church, the Wewoka Indian "Hill Top" Presbyterian, serving in several departments.

She married Robert Colbert, Sr. in the Colbert home.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, Eugene, Simeon and Julius Kernell; and sisters Leister Fife, Lula Jones, Bessie Walker.

She is survived by her sons, Don Colbert, of El Reno, Robert Colbert, Jr., of Wewoka; daughter, Candy Palmore of Buna, Texas; brother, Bob Kernell, of Bowlegs; 7 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren.

Tuesday Oct. 27 at 4 p.m. she will be taken to her home for a wake service at 6p.m.

Funeral Services are scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 28 at 10 a.m. at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ed Jimboy officiating. Internment will follow at the Kernell Family Cemetery.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.

James Coleman

James Ricky Coleman, of Seminole, died Saturday, Jan. 10, at Integris Baptist Hospital, in Oklahoma City.

He was born May 30, 1959, in Reedley, Calif., to James Clifton and Peggy Sue Coleman.

He married Donna Sue on July 2, 1977. They were married for over 20 years. Coleman was a lifelong driller and oilfield worker.

Surviving him are his children, Nora Stanfill and her husband Joe, James Coleman and his wife Meagan, Jessica Judeh and her husband Amjad, all of Seminole, and Courtney Coleman and her husband Raul, of Calif.; father and step-mother, James and Elizabeth Coleman; and 12 grandchildren.

Preceding him in death is his mother, Peggy Sue Coleman.

A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 17, at 12 p.m., at True Way of Life Church, off of Hwy. 9. Noel Sneed will officiate the service.

Zenobia Cone

Zenobia Elder Cone died Friday, Sept. 4, 2009. She was born January 26, 1914, to Edna ViVera and Walter Lee Elder. She attended Konawa schools graduating from Konawa High School as valedictorian in 1931. She attended Santa Ana Junior College, in Santa Ana, Calif., graduating in 1933. She returned to Ada, where she attended East Central State Teachers College in 1933 and 1934. For a time she was employed as a secretary by the Soil Conservation Service in Konawa and Oklahoma City.

In 1941 she married Vernon L. Cone. They made their home in Long Beach, Calif.

During the war years she was employed by Western Pipe and Steel Shipbuilding as secretary to the Director of Selective Service. This company built the Liberty ships during the war. Following her husband's death she moved to Oklahoma City where she was employed by the Indian Health Service Regional office in financial management cost accounting until her retirement in 1978.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She was a long time member of SL Lukc's United Methodist Church and a charter member of Epworth Villa Retirement Facility where she resided until her death.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2009 at Hahn-Cook/Street and Draper Chapel, 6600 Broadway Extension, Oklahoma City. A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. at the Konawa Cemetery.

Cambera Conley

Cambera Juanita Michelle Hanks Conley, age 33, died Monday May 18, 2009, in Shawnee. She was born July 1, 1975 in Oklahoma City, to Winston Hanks and Linda Nowlin Hanks. She was a graduate of Sasakwa High School and later attended Wes Watkins Technology Center, in Wetumka, where she earned her Licensed Practical Nurse lisense. A former resident of Holdenville, Cambera moved to Shawnee in 2006.

She is survived by her children, Serenity Isaac, Michael, Jacob and Gabriel Conley; their father, Michael Conley; parents, Winston Hanks, of Atwood and Linda Hanks, of Shawnee; paternal grandmother, Juanita Bolinger, of Atwood; brothers, Lonnie Crouch, of Shawnee, Doug Crouch, of Bethany, Winston Hanks, Jr., of Oklahoma City, Zachariah Hanks, of Holdenville and Cody J. Hanks, of Gerty.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., on Friday, May 22, 2009 at Hudson-Phillips Chapel, 301 East Main, Holdenville. Lonnie Crouch will officiate. Internment will be at Blue Ridge Cemetery near Calvin under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Lonnie and Doug Crouch, Winston Jr., Zachariah, Cody Hanks and Greg Foster.

Honorary pallbearers are Frank and Jerre’ Foster and Paul Palmer.

Lee Conley

Lee (Sparkman) Conley, 94 year-old, Seminole resident passed from this life on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2009 at her home in Seminole. She was born Oct. 1, 1914, in Lindsay, Oklahoma, to parents Thomas Lee Sparkman and Betty Pearl (Brookshere) Sparkman.

Lee graduated from New Lima High School in 1933 and remained an active member of the New Lima Alumni Association throughout her life.

Lee worked for the Department of Defense in Washington D.C. where she held many different positions, including Directorate of Programs. She retired from the Pentagon with 29 years of service in 1974.

She married Kenneth Conley on May 3, 1979 in North Platte, Nebraska. He preceded her in death on Oct. 2, 1987.

Following her retirement and the death of her husband she returned to Seminole to be near her family. She loved to work in the yard and enjoyed her beautiful flowers. Lee was of the Baptist faith.

She leaves to cherish her memory her nieces and nephews; Jim and Rhonda Collier, David and Patty Austin, Tom and Charlotte Austin, Bob and Jeannie Austin, Steve Sparkman, Susan Alcorn Cossey, Gerald Wayne Alcorn, Betty and Kenny Lambrecht, Dal White, C. Kelley and Richard Black, Sharon Kelley and David Lankert, P.K. Martino, Tommy Gene and Tammy Austin, Mike and Lou Kelley; and many other great and great-great nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and dear friends including a special friend Virgil Lamastus.

Mrs. Conley is preceded in death by her parents Betty and Lee Sparkman; two brothers, Melvin and Bill Sparkman; five sisters, Grace Alcorn, Marie Austin, Flo Collier, Eileen Kelley, Thelma White; and by two beloved husbands, Jack Byrd and Kenneth Conley.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009 at the Community of Christ Church in Seminole. Freeman Whitlock and Carl Edgerton will officiate the service. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

Casket Bearers will be: Kory Collier, Russell Collier, Tommy G. Austin, Caleb Austin, Chuck Austin and Robert Austin.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole, Oklahoma.

Vera Coombs

Longtime Seminole resident Vera Martha (Loyd) Coombs passed away Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2008, at Integris Seminole Medical Center, at the age of 84.

She was born Nov. 26, 1924 in Pauls Valley, to Curtis Edward and Nellie Etta (Ward) Loyd.

She married Carl Coombs May 25, 1971, in Sapulpa. She worked at the convention desk at the Stardust, MGM and the Aladdin Hotel, in Las Vegas. She also worked a few years at the Seminole telephone office.

She graduated from Seminole High School, she was an avid golfer, a teamsters member, and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, in Seminole.

She is survived by her husband Carl Coombs, of the home; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Joe Edward "Ed" Parsons, of Richland, Wash. and Bruce and Debbie Thompson, of Salt Lake City, Utah; one daughter and son-in-law, Linda Ann Buck and husband Wayne, of Highland Ranch, Colo.; one sister and brother-in-law, Cottie and Emery McGruder, of Seminole; niece, Sandy "Tottie" Harber, of Seminole; and sister-in-law, Glenna Loyd Peek, of Englewood, Colo. She is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren and a host of other nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Curtis and Nellie Loyd; two husbands; one brother, C.E. Loyd; and one sister, Edita Shaw.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, in Seminole, with son Bruce Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, in Seminole.

Vama Coon

Vama "Bundy" Coon, 65 year-old lifelong Seminole County resident passed from this life Saturday, March 14, 2009 at Unity North Hospital in Shawnee, Oklahoma. He was born April 10, 1943 in Hughes County, Oklahoma to parents Bennie Coon and Ella (Att) Coon.

Better known as "Bundy", he was a longtime faithful member and usher at Spring Baptist Church, near Sasakwa.

He was baptized by Pastor George Jesse on June 9, 1963. Bundy was faithful in church activities and made a point to sweep the walkways on Sunday mornings. Though limited by physical problems, he made a point to rake up the magnolia leaves and cones and considered that to be his job.

It gave him great joy when he was asked to ring the church bell or to take up the offering. He was always willing to do things the church asked him to do and it was with a great joy in his life to be at Church.

Another one of Bundy’s joys was watching his nieces and nephews play high school sports. He would often arrive at the ball games an hour or two early so he would not miss anything.

Survivors include seven brothers and sisters-in-law, Johnny Coon, of Seminole, Thomas and Trisha Coon, of Konawa, Joe and Mary Coon, of Konawa, Wallace Coon, of Konawa, Edmond and Barbara Coon, of Rochester Hills, Mich., Lee and Cindy McNeal, of Phoenix, Ariz., and Sarney and Janet Coon, of Riverside, Calif.; two sisters, Pauline Carpitcher and Abilene Fletcher, both of Oklahoma City; Bundy is also survived by a host of other family and dear friends.

Bundy was preceded in death by his parents and by two brothers Billy and Benjamin Coon.

A wake service was scheduled for 8 p.m., Monday March 16, 2009 at Spring Baptist Church, in Sasakwa, with Rev. Houston Tiger officiating.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m., Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at Spring Baptist Church, in Sasakwa. Roger Streetman and Rev. Billy Joe Harjo will officiate. Interment will follow at the Church Cemetery.

Casket Bearers will be: Joseph Coon, Jonathan Coon, Joshua Coon, Rico Coon, Brad Schoopman, Silas Welch, Derick Harjo and Johnny Coon.

Honorary Bearers will be: Leon Lusty, Josh Puntka, George Burgess, George Postoak, Herman Foster and Allen Foster.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, in Konawa. Phone 580-925-3252.

Claude Cornelison

Longtime Seminole resident Claude Cornelison, age 81, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2009 at Seminole Medical Center.

Mr. Cornelison was born April 27, 1927, in Panhandle, Texas, to Hugh and Mae (Tunin) Cornelison. After his birth the family moved to California and at the age of 6, the family moved to Seminole.

Claude attended Seminole schools and graduated in 1946 from Seminole High School and attended one year at the University of Oklahoma.

Claude was co-owner of Cornelison Engine for many years until it closed in 1988. The oilfield maintenance company had been in business since the early 1930's. He was very active at his church and was the chairman of the building committee and trustees during the time of the building of the new First United Methodist Church.

Claude married Lola (Nease) Bronnenberg on March 17, 1984, at the First United Methodist Church, in Bowlegs, after the death of his first wife Pat.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lola Cornelison, of the home. He is also survived by children, Mike and Deborah Cornelison, of Ada, Mark Cornelison, of Checotah, Stephen and Elaine Bronnenberg, of Ada, Nancy and Larry Johnson, of Seminole, and Sharon and John Gamble, of Seminole; grandchildren; Eric Cornelison, of Tulsa, Jacob Seber, of W. Va., Michelle Cornelison, of Connecticut, J.D. and Andrea Johnson, of Seminole, Shelley and Eric Daniel, of Seminole, Josh Bronnenberg, Jackie and Robbie Lee and Jessica and Kevin Martinez, all of Ada, Emily and Aaron Bledsoe and Sara Langford, of Oklahoma City, and Jana Bronneberg, of Norman; thirteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Pat Cornelison; his parents; two brothers, Harvey and Red Cornelison; sister, Jean Parsons; and his daughter Susan Cornelison King.

Memorial Services are planned for Monday, Jan. 5, 2009 at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, in Seminole with Rev. Gary Wilburn and David Karges officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church building fund, 910 West Wrangler Blvd., Seminole, Oklahoma 74868.
