Funeral services for Boyce Dodson will be held Saturday, May 2, 2009 at 2 p.m. at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel, in Okemah. Interment will follow at the Bearden Cemetery.
Boyce Dodson was born September 3, 1933 in Cromwell, Oklahoma to Johnny Ray and Algoma (Stevens) Dodson. He passed away Monday, April 27, 2009 at his home, in Bearden, at the age of 75.
Mr. Dodson grew up and lived most of his life in the Cromwell area. He had also been a resident of Bearden for the past 20 years. Mr. Dodson served his country with the United States Army from 1952-1955. He was a member of the 10th Special Forces, which was the first Special Forces unit with the U.S. Army.
Mr. Dodson and Oleta Williams were married October 17, 1989, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was a longtime minister and was the Senior Pastor of the Bearden Holiness Church. Mr. Dodson was retired from the Bearden Fire Department and also worked as a heavy equipment operator with the Commercial Brick Company, in Wewoka, for 30 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and especially going on camping trips.
Preceding him in death were his parents, one sister, and two brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Oleta Dodson, of Bearden; four daughters, Sarah Silva and husband Tom, of Denton, Texas, Jeannie Holz and husband Robert, of Oklahoma City, Donnell Underwood and husband Francis, of Bearden and Monica Dunn, of Cromwell, Oklahoma; 6 brothers, James Dodson, of Cromwell, Bobby Dodson and wife Mary, of Phoenix, Arizona, William Hardy Dodson and wife Jean, of Seminole, Billy Dodson and wife Helen, of Cromwell, Edward Dodson and wife Burdine, of Poteau, Oklahoma and Archie Dodson and wife Phyllis, of Arizona; 3 sisters, including his twin, Loyce Brown, of Arizona, Jewel Wallis, of Peoria, Arizona, and Irene Churchwell and husband Orvelle, of Shawnee; 8 grandchildren, Whitney Clark, Courtney Greene, Drew Silva, and Colton Silva, all of Denton, Texas, Robin Holz, of Pensacola, Florida, Ryan Holz, of Ft. Rucker, Alabama, Shelly Galloway, of Cromwell, Oklahoma, and Matthew Underwood, of Bearden; 7 great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
Serving as active pallbearer will be Robert Holz, Ryan Holz, Matthew Underwood, Tom Silva, Drew Silva, and Michael Galloway.
Honorary bearers include Robert Schmidlkofer and Lonnie Cheatwood.
Services under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah and officiated by Rev. Larry Chesser and assisted by Rev. Andy Young.
Albert Douglas
Former Wewoka resident Lt. Col. (retired) Albert W. Douglas, age 86, of Lawton, died Thursday, April 23, 2009, in Lawton.
He was born Sept. 21, 1922, in Terry, Miss. He graduated from Terry High School and moved to Wewoka, where he married Margie Crabtree on June 21, 1942.
He enlisted into the U.S. Army Air Corp in 1942. He served as a bomber pilot in the Philippines during World War II and later served two tours of duty in Korea. He transferred to the Medical Services Corp and retired at Fort Bragg, N.C., in 1969. Following his retirement he worked at Comanche County Memorial Hospital for a brief time before going to work for the First Baptist Church where he worked as the building administrator until his retirement in the mid 1980’s.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church and a deacon.
He is survived by his wife, of the home; children, Gay Lyn Cagle, of Canyon, Texas, Jim, Douglas, of Euless, Texas, Risë Ann Boling, Jr., of Lawton, and Terry Douglas, of San Diego, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, at the First Baptist Church, in Lawton, with Dr. William F. Watkins and Chris Cagle, officiating.
Burial with full military honors will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home.

Joy Drake
Longtime Seminole resident, Joy Garrison Drake, age 80, died Saturday, June 6, 2009, at her home, in Seminole.
Joy was born November 21, 1928, in Seminole, Oklahoma to Birtchell B. and Velma Vivian (Criswell) Garrison.
Joy grew up in the Little and Seminole areas and attended area schools. She received her Bachelor Degree from East Central University, in Ada. Mrs. Drake taught 8th Grade English for many years at Seminole High School. She was a longtime member of the Church of Christ in Seminole.
Joy married James Drake on April 16, 1948, in Seminole, Oklahoma and he preceded her in death on November 26, 1990. She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Mrs. Drake is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, David and Janet Drake, of Ponte Vedra, Fla. and a daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Lee Stilwell, of Seminole, Oklahoma; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Sharp, of Seminole; five grandchildren, Justin Drake and Elisabeth Drake, Jeremy Stilwell and his wife Jennifer, Shelly Rolland and her husband Justin, Scott Stilwell and his wife Kala; and five great-grandchildren, Allison, Reilly, Hayden, Hannah and Shannon.
Funeral services are planned for Thursday, June 11, 2009 at 10:30 a.m., at the Church of Christ, in Seminole, with Chris Stinnett officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, east of Seminole.

Pamela Duncan
Lifelong Seminole resident Pamela Faye Duncan passed away on March 13, 2009 in Seminole, Oklahoma at the age of 51.
She was born on July 17, 1957 in Seminole, Oklahoma to Leon Dale and Joyce Faye (Harris) Williams.
She graduated from Strother High School in 1975 and owned Pam’s Day Care for several years. She married Elmer Robert Duncan on July 16, 1976, in Seminole, Oklahoma.
She leaves to cherish her memories her husband Elmer Duncan, of the home; mother and father, Joyce and Leon Williams, of Seminole, Oklahoma; three sons and daughters-in-law, Brad and Tonya Duncan, of Tecumseh, Mike and Tiffany Duncan, of Seminole and Jason Duncan and Amber Lee, of Seminole; daughter, Nicole Coym, of Seminole, Oklahoma; one brother and sister-in-law, Leslie and Peggy Williams; and one sister and brother-in-law, Sheila and Tim King, of Enid, Oklahoma. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Macyn, Hailey, Dakota, Destiny, Kiley, Cale and Ethan.
She is preceded in death by her sister, Toni Lynn Williams and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Elmer Elden and Bonnie Maxine, Duncan.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at the Bowlegs Assembly of God Church with Mickey Shaw officiating. Interment will follow at Little Cemetery, Little, Oklahoma.
Pallbearers will be: Jared Wells, Jason Ham, Jason Friend, Jason Fowler, Randy Lehman, Ryan Lehman, Chuck Plunkett and Zack Davis.
Marvin Dunn
Marvin Dunn, 78, longtime Seminole resident died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009, in Oklahoma City. He was born Aug. 15, 1930, in Nyssa, Ore. to Jesse D. and Edna (Carter) Dunn. He moved to Seminole from Mounds, 54 years ago.
Dunn was a pipeline worker for Kerr-McGee Oil Company for over 32 years and retired in 1994. He served his country in the U.S. Army as a corporal, from 1948 to 1953. Dunn was a member of the Ideal Street Baptist Church, in Seminole. He was a mason and member of the Masonic Lodge, in Maud.
He married Edith Irene Harper on May 14, 1969, in Seminole.
Surviving him are his wife, Edith Irene Harper-Dunn, of the home in Seminole; four sons, David Dunn, of Claremore, Steve Dunn, of Broken Arrow, Marvin Dunn, of Oklahoma City, and Ron Seay, of Seminole; daughter, Pam Blalock, of Seminole; three brothers, Ivy Dunn, of San Antonio, Texas, Curtis Dunn, of Tulsa, and Ernest Dunn, of Siloam Springs, Ark; two sisters, Wilma Surrett, of Tulsa, and Ramona Carlile, of Locust Grove; thirteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters, his parents and one daughter, Sherry Chambless.
Services are scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009, at 2 p.m., to be held at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating and Rev. Charles Spears assisting.
Military honors will be performed at the funeral home chapel where the services will conclude. Burial will be at Little Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be, Mike Chambless, Kevin Lyle, Tim Titiriga, Michael Dunn, Rob Cowley and Ron Seay.
Honorary bearers will be Sam Mansell and Don Phillips.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Velma Dunning
No services are planned for former Seminole resident Velma Jane (Grace) Dunning.
Dunning and her husband owned the Trails Restaurant and then Red’s Café.
Dunning died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2009 in Owasso at the age of 102.
Daniel Dye
Daniel Lee Dye, age 59 and resident of Konawa died Tuesday, August 11, 2009, at Integris Medical Center in Seminole.
Services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Friday, August 14, 2009 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel of Konawa.
Burial will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery, east of Konawa.
Rev. Ed Bray, Pastor of Cross Timbers Church in Konawa, will officiate.
Pallbearers are Ronnie Lemmings, Jerome Snider, Gene Walker, Denver Merrell, Tom Brumley, and Earl Hacker.
Honorary pallbearers are Paul Loudermilk, and Sam Flippo.
Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. until 7 p.m. today.
Dye was born on April 16, 1950, in Ft. Smith, Ark., to Elmer and Reba (Edwards) Dye.
He married Lana Mason on December 23, 1971, in Midwest City.
Dye was a minister and was also a member of the Cross Timbers Church in Konawa.
He had served as Pastor of Glendale Freewill Baptist Church in Midwest City for four years.
Dye also was the pastor of Camp Ground Free Will Baptist Church west of Ada, and he also was the pastor of Welty Freewill Baptist.
He is survived by his wife, Lana Dye of the home; two sons, Michael Dye and Kevin Dye also of the home; two brothers, Elmer "Sonny" Dye and wife, Peggy of Harrah, and Ricky Dye of Oklahoma City; and one sister, Rita Dallas of Midwest City.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Reba Dye; one sister, Erma Cozens; and one brother-in-law, Oliver Dallas.
Donna Eakins
Donna Lee Eakins, age 58, died at her home in Wewoka, Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009.
She was born June 14, 1951, to Stuard H. Eakins and Anna Kerstina (Nielsen) Eakins, Mitchell, S.D. She was raised in South Dakota and in California. She worked as an accountant for Kentucky Tubing near Cadiz, Kentucky. She has made her home in Wewoka since 2002. She attended Assembly of God Church, in Wewoka.
She is survived by her daughter, Anna Eakins, of Wewoka.
A private family memorial will be held.
Ima Edwards
Ima Mae Edwards, a Seminole county resident for 65 years died in Norman, Friday, July 31, 2009 at the age of 85.
She was born on September 8, 1923 at Breckenridge, Texas. She was a homemaker and a member of the Seminole Church of Christ.
She married Thurman H. Edwards, Sr. on April 28, 1942 in Seminole.
She is survived by son: Thurman Edwards of Seminole, and daughters: Angela Ledford of Many, La., and Sandra Edwards of Norman.
She is also survived by three sisters: Bernice Arvin of Ft. Worth, Texas, Bertha O’dell of Edmond, and Violet Kruta of Oklahoma City, four grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.
Edwards was preceded in death by: parents, Dan and Hazel Haught; brother, Edward Pierce and sister Helen Trebe.
Memorial services for Edwards will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 8, 2009 at the Seminole Church of Christ with Chris Stinnett officiating.
A Memorial Book is available at Swearingen Funeral Home for family and friends to sign.

James Ellison
James Fred Ellison, 89, longtime Seminole resident died Saturday, October 3, 2009, in Del City, Oklahoma. Fred was born March 1, 1920, in Baxten County, Arkansas, to Grover Cleveland and Emily Ora (Farnell) Ellison. Fred and his parents moved to Seminole from Arkansas in 1921.
Mr. Ellison attended and was a graduate of Seminole High School; he attended college and after one and one-half year’s war interrupted his education. Mr. Ellison joined the United States Army Air Force on January 13, 1942, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and attained the rank of corporal. He was honorably discharged on November 15, 1945.
After the World War II, Fred met and married Linnie M. Wood. They were married at the First Baptist Church parsonage on October 14, 1946. Mr. Ellison had been a member of the First Baptist Church, in Seminole Since 1937.
Mr. Ellison was a fire fighter for the Seminole Fire Department from 1951 to 1971.
His loving wife Linnie M. Ellison survives Mr. Ellison. This October 14, they would have been married for 63 years.
Survivors are his sisters, Melba Rumsey, of Seminole, Oklahoma and a host of nieces and nephews which include: Janet Hargrave, Lana Jackson, Grover Parsons, Leroy Parsons, June McGinnis, Jean Fuqua, Carol Upchurch, Harold Ellison, Mike Ellison, David Ellison, Jim Ellison, Tommy Rumsey, Kathy Dawson and Keith Rumsey.
He was preceded in death by Joe Ellison, Grace Norman, Mary Parsons, Mildred Wages, Ray Ellison and Floyd Ellison.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Tommy Clark officiating. Burial will follow with military honors at Maple Grove Cemetery.
Casket Bearers will be Tommy Rumsey, Keith Rumsey, David Ellison, Jimmy Ellison, Harold Ray Ellison and Mike Ellison.
Honorary bearers will be Melford Rumsey and Dub Childers
