Nerine Myrtle Brewer, 96, Seminole resident, died, Friday Feb. 28, 2014 at St. Anthony’s Shawnee Hospital in Shawnee, Okla.
Nerine was born Sept. 28, 1917 in Lansing, Mich. to Tom and Ivah (Zimmerman) McQuiston.
Mrs. Brewer retired as secretary of the Pennway Church of God in Lansing, Mich., in 1982, after 25 years of faithful service.
She also worked at the State Office of the Church of God for four years after her retirement.
She was a member of the Pennway Church of God, for many years, where she was very active, taught Sunday school, and was the church pianist.
Mrs. Brewer moved to Seminole four years ago to be near her son.
She also attended the Heartland Family Church in Seminole, while living in Seminole.
Mrs. Brewer grew up in Lansing, Mich. and attended and graduated from Eastern High School in Lansing, Mich.
She was married to Paul Brewer, who preceded her in death on May 28, 1994.
Mrs. Brewer is survived by her son, Rev. P. Roger Brewer of Seminole; an adopted daughter, Michele Haun of Lansing, Mich.; one sister, Agnus Green of Lake Wales, Fla.; ten grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren
Her parents preceded her in death; husband Paul, son, Keith Brewer, and daughter, Sharon Kay Longenecker.
Funeral services are planned for 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at the Pennway Church of God in Lansing, Mich., with burial to follow in Deep Dale Cemetery in Lansing, Mich.
Arrangements are under the direction of Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home in East Lansing, Michigan.
Local arrangements were under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
Clifford Briery
Clifford Edward "C.E." Briery, 93, longtime Seminole resident, died Friday, Jan. 24, 2014 in Plano, Tex. where he had been living for the past four years.
He was born Sept. 29, 1920, in Okay, Okla.
He was longtime manager for Hopeman Equipment in Seminole and later worked for Moody Oilfield Services and Supply in Wewoka, Okla.
He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army Air Corp.
He is survived by his daughter, Sharon Townsend of Plano, Tex.; two grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Genny Briery; and his son, Cliff Briery.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27, 2014 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Maple Grove Cemetery. Rev. Andy Lewis will officiate at the service.
Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014 at Swearingen Funeral Home.

Viola Brinsfield
Viola May Brinsfield, 79, Seminole resident died, Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at the Seminole Estates Care and Rehab Center in Seminole, Okla.
Viola was born on March 9, 1935 at Gypsy, Okla. in Creek County, to Katy Gertrude (Weaver) and Mose Garfield Starrett.
Viola moved to Savanna, Oklahoma, and lived there until 1981 when she moved to Wewoka, Okla. and lived there until 2010 when she moved to Norman, Okla.
She moved back to Seminole in November of 2013.
Viola loved being with her daughters and her grandchildren, she loved to travel and enjoyed going to Yellowstone National Park, Galveston, Tex., Carlsbad Caverns, in New Mexico, the mountains and many other places; sometimes she was able to take her daughters with her.
She also loved to spend time at the lake, go fishing, camping and loved playing pool.
Viola was married to Ed Brinsfield for many years before his death in December 1994.
She is survived by her three daughters, Debbie Rhodes and her husband Delbert of Fort Worth, Tex., Delma Anderson and her husband Mark of Norman, Okla. and Darla Harris of Seminole; her brother, Garlin Starrett of McAlester, Okla. and her sister, Opal Stidham of California.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Sean, Chris, Jason and Kevin Rhodes, Gayla Schimmels, Jamie Gullett, Debra Hurley, Tonya Hall, Beau Lindsey and Wynter Smith and twenty-three great grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous special nieces and nephews.
Graveside services are planned for 11 a.m., Saturday, June 7, 2014 at the Oakwood Cemetery, south of Wewoka, with Jason Chambers officiating.
Casket bearers will be Sean Rhodes, Jason Rhodes, Kevin Rhodes, Derek Rhodes, David Rhodes and Beau Lindsey.
Honorary Bearers will be Delbert Rhodes, Mark Anderson, James Gregg, Randy Gregg and James Brinsfield.
Funeral services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
Nancy Brock
Nancy Lee Barton Brock, 70, of Konawa, Okla. passed away Jan. 16, 2014.
She was born Aug. 10, 1943 in Portland, Maine to Robert and Rita Latham.
Nancy was a singer, songwriter, entertainer, and musician who enjoyed playing the guitar, loved her family and her animals.
She is survived by her two sister, Betty Blalock and Barbara and husband, Bill Plummer; brother, David and wife, Carol Latham; five daughters, Anna, Deborah, Rebecca, Tammy and husband, Kevin, Trina and husband, Keith; two sons, John and Buzz and wife, Sue; 19 grandchildren, six great grandchilddren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Anna Latham; sister, Geraldine; son, James "Frankie"; and niece, Stacy.
Services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22 at the John M. Ireland Funeral Home in Moore, Okla.
Lou Brown
Lou Carol (Hopper) Brown, 68 year old Seminole, Okla. resident and former Noble, Okla. resident, passed from this life on Nov. 29, 2014 at Integris Seminole Medical Center in Seminole.
She was born Sept. 27, 1946 in Norman, Okla. to parents Lester Hopper and Alice Marie (Briggs) Hopper.
Lou was a Noble High School graduate who later went to work as an auditor for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
She married Wendell Brown who preceded her in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Cheri Lehnertz of Perrysburg, Ohio and one son, Jayson Willis of Noble, Okla. Other survivors include several grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Lou was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband, Wendell Wayne Brown who died Feb. 1, 2010 and by one son, Mark Willis who died in July of 1985.
Cremation services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Okla.
Norweita Brown
Norweita Lue (Nowell) Tiffin Brown, 73 year old former Seminole and Pottawatomie County resident passed from this life on Monday, March 3, 2014.
She was born June 23, 1940 in Richardson, Tex.
She was the daughter of Ovella (Robertson) Nowell and CB Nowell.
She attended Maud Public Schools.
Norweita married her first husband, Wesley Donald Tiffin Sr., sadly after 25 years of marriage he preceded her in death.
She later married her second husband, Gilbert Joel Brown who also preceded her in death.
Norweita leaves to cherish her memory her two sons, Calaph Noel Tiffin of Fort Smith, Ark., Billy Ray Tiffin Sr. of Fort Smith, Ark. and by one daughter, Charmin Kay Crossno of Fort Smith, Ark.
Two daughters-in–law, Janice Tiffin of Fort Smith, Ark. and Sonja Tiffin of Van Buren, Ark. also survive her as do nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren to whom she loved dearly. One brother, two sisters, two brother in-laws, several nieces, nephews and a very special aunt, Margie Nowell of Maud, Okla.
Norweita is also preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Jaquita Louise Tiffin and Naomi Lynnette Dixon; one granddaughter, Jacquita Dixon; one son, Wesley Donald Tiffin Jr.; one brother, Gerald Tiffin; two, step parents; her oldest sister, Ellen May Holt; brother, Gerald Nowell; and her younger brother Gerry Richard; and by two sons-in-law.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Friday, March 7, 2014 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole. Interment will follow at Cummings Cemetery in Maud. Pastors Wayne and Donna Heins will officiate the service.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
Roberta Bruner
Former Wewoka resident Roberta (Chatman) Bruner of Oklahoma City, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, Nov. 6th, 2014 at her home in Oklahoma City.
Born Jan. 31, 1931 in Okmulgee, Okla. to the late Jerry Chatman and Mable Shephard Chatman.
Roberta worked for Custom Size Factory as a seamstress for years.
She was of the Christian faith.
Preceding Roberta in death are her parents, husband Nahum Bruner, brother Jerry Chatman, sister LaVelle Chatman and two sons Oscar Bruner and Glen Allen Bruner.
Survivors include her children Charles Bruner of Oklahoma City, Lenetta Bruner Stevenson, Lavonne Bruner both of Oklahoma City, and Lovell Bruner Chilcote of Spencer, 19 grandchildren; and a host of great and great-great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10, 2014 at Westwood Cemetery with Rev. Drinkwater officiating.

Willie Bruner
Willie T. Bruner, 63, of Wewoka died Sunday, June 22, 2014 at his home in Wewoka.
He was born Aug. 23, 1950 in Sasakwa, Okla. to Nathen Bruner and Vidalia Lewis Bruner.
He was a graduate of Sasakwa High School.
He joined the US Air Force June 29, 1984 earning the rank of TSGT.
He earned Air Force Commendation Medal; Air Force Outstanding Unit Award Ribbon; Air Force Good Conduct Medal W/I Silver Oak Leaf Cluster; National Defense Service Medal; Air Force Overseas; W/l Bronze Oak Lead Cluster; Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon; W/3 Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster.
He worked for Oakridge Nursing Home, Wewoka Care Center, and Elmwood Nursing Home.
On Jan. 6, 1995, he married Wanda Harrison.
Preceding him in death are his parents; and brother Melvin Bruner.
Survivors include wife Wanda of the home; children Nathan Dewayne Bruner, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Willie Bruner Jr. of Atlanta, Ga., Alex Bruner of Ft. Worth, Tex., and Tasha Bruner of Holdenville, Okla.; eight grandchildren; siblings, Opal Jackson of Sasakwa, James Bruner of Wewoka, Red Bruner of Holdenville, Bobby Barkus of Tulsa, Roy Barkus of Shawnee, Timothy Barkus of Boley and Lester Barkus of Sasakwa, Okla.; step-children, Jessica Harrison of Wewoka, Darla Smith, of Wewoka, Crystal Smith of Wewoka, Ronald Smith of Wewoka, and Suzie Cudjo of Holdenville.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 28, 2014 at New Life Church, Wewoka, with Ricky Burton officiating and burial at Thomas Town Cemetery.
