Ada-Services for Johnny Terry Dean Bryan, 65, of Ada, are 3 p.m. Saturday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Danny Wells will officiate. Burial will follow at Five-Mile Cemetery, east of Ada.
Mr. Bryan died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2014 at an Oklahoma City hospital.
He was born in Ada, Okla. to Audie and Geraldine Melton Bryan.
John attended the early elementary grades at Happyland. He later enrolled in Byng School and graduated from Byng High School in 1967. He attended East Central University and completed two degrees by 1985.
During high school, he worked as a mechanic to earn money for college tuition.
John joined the U. S. Army Reserve Unit and fulfilled his service.
He began working part-time at the local auto supply stores and later became fulltime at the B&M Parts on Main Street before accepting a position of store manager for the A&K in Holdenville.
John married Judy in 1973.
John began a teaching career with the Southwest Region School District in Alaska that lasted from 1979 to 2001.
During the 22 years in the Yu’pik Eskimo village of Manokotak, Alaska, his job duties included teaching high school industrial arts and some elementary classes, counseling at ten itinerate schools within the Southwest Region School District, sponsored student training travel and administered the ASVAB and ACT testing.
He retired and returned to his home in Happyland.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Bryan, of the home; two daughters, Katrina Allen and husband Steve and granddaughters, Tabitha and Courtney, all of Holdenville, and future great grandson, Preston Thomas Brewer, and Amanda Nave and husband Howard of Blackwell; one brother, Glen Bryan and wife Doris of Vamoosa; an aunt, Alene Morris of Clinton, TN; uncle, Walter Melton, Jr. and many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and a brother, Melvin Dewayne Bryan.
Bearers will be Phil Lawrence, Jacob Perkins, Earl Melton, Gerald Melton, Rick Wallace, Logan Hill, Donovan Hill, Howard Nave and Steve Allen.
Honorary bearers will be Boyd Hill, Bill Shockey and Randy Fuqua.
Cheri Buie
Cheri Joann Buie, 80, resident of Shawnee, Okla. died Tuesday, July 29, 2014 in Shawnee.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 1, 2014 Emmanuel Episcopal Church. Burial will follow at Arlington National Cemetery.
Walker Funeral Service in Shawnee is in charge of the arrangements.
Cherie Buie
Cherie Joann Buie, 80, died July 29, 2014 in Shawnee.
Born in Los Angeles, Calif. on Feb. 3, 1934 to N. Lavern and Martha (Dollinger) Osborn, she grew up in Los Angeles and Glendale, Calif.
She attended Glendale Academy, Glendale College of Business, La Sierra University and was graduated from University of California Los Angeles with a bachelor of arts degree in English and music.
To help finance her college education, Mrs. Buie worked for the secretary-treasurer of Santa Fe Railway (Coast Lines), and later was assistant editor of the alumni magazine for Loma Linda University School of Medicine.
While working at an animation studio in Hollywood, she met and married Walden Bulloch.
They owned and operated an animation camera service where they did the photographic work on commercials, television programs and specials.
At the same time she was secretary to a vice president of Seven Arts Association Corp., a large independent film production company.
Later she was secretary to the senior partner of the Beverly Hills law firm of Marcus, Rienis and Ezor.
Mrs. Buie sang professionally for several years and was a member of several choral groups, including the Roger Wagner Chorale.
She was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church and served with the Alter Guild.
In 1975 she married Chickasha Native Will Buie at Wayfarer’s Chapel in Palos Verdes, Calif. and lived in the San Fernando Valley.
They were active members of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and spent many hours towing vessels in distress, doing search and rescue, teaching boating safety, seamanship and navigation classes and conducting vessel safety examinations.
She was a life member of the Hollywood Screen Smart Set, an organization that raises money for the Motion Picture House and Hospital.
They moved to Fallbrook, Calif. where they had avocado, macadamia nut and lime groves.
While there, Mrs. Buie was secretary to the president of Callaway Vineyards and Winery.
In 1982 they came to Oklahoma where Mr. Buie raised cattle near Earlsboro and she worked at Oklahoma Baptist University.
In 1989 Mrs. Buie joined the Edward Jones Investments family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Will; her parents; one sister and her first husband.
Survivors include a sister, Shirley Rieger of Birmingham, Ala.; three step-daughters and their husbands, Linda and Ted Jones of Bountiful, Utah, Betty and Steven Anderson of Provo, Utah, and Andrea and Vincent Motola of Las Vegas, Nev.; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; cousins, Dr. Tom and Linda Bunch of Cleburn, Tex., and Dr. Fred and Judy Bunch of Codi, Calif.; friends, David and Mary Kay Westphal, and Chris and Cherie Hobbs, all of Seminole; caregivers, Carol Williams of Seminole, and Carolyn Moore of Shawnee, and best friend, Ema, the greyhound.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, 2014 at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church. Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.
Memorials may be made to the Emmanuel Episcopal Church Altar Guild fund.
Rena Bundy
Rena Bundy, 90, longtime Seminole resident, died Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, in Shawnee, Okla.
Rena was born Nov. 23, 1923 in Stigler, Okla. to Nellie (Kelough) Jackson and Jonas Jackson.
Rena was a homemaker; and a member of the Freewill Baptist Church in Seminole.
She enjoyed playing with her grandchildren, going out to eat, and family gatherings.
Rena married A.C. Bundy on May 5, 1942 in Holdenville, Okla. They were married 67 years, when A.C. died, on Nov. 13, 2009.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law; Curtis and Dinah Bundy of Okmulgee, Okla.; her daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Richard Morgan of Seminole; her grandchildren, Lee Ann Bundy of Okmulgee, Ashlee Gatzke of Shawnee and Grant Penuel of Seminole; her great grandchildren, Abagaile Gatzke, Amarie Gatzke and Andrew Gatzke all of Shawnee; along with many nieces and nephews and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband A.C. Bundy; son, Fred Bundy; four brothers, Lewis Jackson, William Jackson, Jonas Jackson, Jr. and Wiley Jackson; and two sisters, Millie Pickett and Maggie Griffin.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, at the Little Cemetery with Rev. Allen Wood and Rev. Tim Gillespie officiating. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery.
Honorary bearers will be Kenny Speer III, Todd Speer, Gerald Pickett, Steve Jackson, Kenneth Speer and Gregg Jackson.
Funeral service arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
Patty Burns
Patty Lou Burns of Seminole passed away in Oklahoma City on Saturday evening, Nov. 8, 2014, at the age of 63 years.
Patty was the daughter of Derril & Betty Jean (Minne) Wheat, born on May 1, 1951, in Muskogee, Okla.
She was brought up and attended schools in Seminole.
She was married to Jerry Burns on June 8, 1996, in Wolf, Okla.
Patty enjoyed watching soap operas, especially "The Bold and the Beautiful" and "The Young and the Restless".
She was a natural-born nurturer, loved taking care of animals, particularly horses.
Whatever her other interests, her entire life was devoted to caring for her children and grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Betty Jean Wheat; her younger brother, Derril Gene Wheat; grandson Seth Burns.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry, of the home; four children: Candy Gurley and Curtis Loftis (Crista), both of Seminole, and Eli Burns and Savanah Burns, both of Borger, Tex.; eight grandchildren: Destry Wilson (Tyla) of Seminole, Zachary Leck of Kingfisher, Savanna Wilson of Seminole, Mary Loftis of Del City, Bryson Loftis, Preston Loftis, Caden Loftis, all of Seminole, and Aurora Burns of Borger, Tex.; great grandson Caven Wilson of Seminole; five sisters: Peggy Hayworth of Maud, Frankie Keeney (Steve) of Sasakwa, Patsy Hayworth of Little, Brenda Johnson and Joann Wheat, both of Seminole; two brothers, Earl Wheat of Seminole and Darren Wheat of Cromwell; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014, 2:00 p.m. at the Lord’s Community Church in Seminole, and Patty will be laid to rest in the Little Cemetery at Little, Okla.
Rev. Nita Moreland is the officiating minister.
Pallbearers are Destry Wilson, Thomas Gates, Jonathan Gates, Shawn Murray, Eli Burns, and Johnny Murray.
Honorary pallbearers are Curtis Loftis, Bryson Loftis, Curtis Kasinger, Ray Robertson, Chris Brewer, and Shayne Kelough.

Lawrence Bussey
Lawrence O. "Larry" Bussey, age 81, passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at his home in Ardmore, Okla.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 24, 2014, in The Chapel at Griffin~Hillcrest, with Dr. Alton Fannin officiating. Interment to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Ardmore, Okla.
Larry was born to Oliver Lawrence Bussey and Bessie Orlena (Riddle) Bussey on Sept. 11, 1932, at Maud, Okla.
Larry entered the Army in 1949, at Seminole, Okla.
While serving his country during the Korean War, he received the Purple Heart for injuries he sustained while in combat.
Larry also earned the Korean Campaign Medal, the United Nations Medal and the Army Occupation Medal (Japan).
He was honorably discharged, after achieving the rank of Corporal, on Oct. 10, 1952, at Ft. Bliss, Tex.
In 1954, Larry married Dolores Jones. From that union came three children; Larry, Sandra, and Jeff.
Going to work for ARCO in 1963, he became a chemical salesman, and then began working in production.
He was transferred in 1971 to Ardmore by ARCO.
In 1973, he married Linda Rozzell. From that union came one daughter, Amy.
He became a drilling foreman in 1986 and one year later opened B&M Oil Service Consultants with Kenneth Mozingo and later, he and his wife Linda opened B&B Oil Service Consultants.
He retired in 2002 and continued to pursue his passion for playing golf.
Larry was a member of the Ardmore Masonic Lodge, a 32 Degree Mason, and a Member of the McAlester Scottish Rite Consistory.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Ramon Bussey, Eugene Bussey, and Donald Ray Bussey.
Larry is survived by his wife, Linda Bussey, of the home; his children, Larry Eugene Bussey and wife, Oliva, of Frisco, Tex., Sandra Lynn Bussey Primm and husband, Mike, of Moore, Okla., Jeff Lawrence Bussey and wife, Misty, of Blanchard, Okla., and Amy Lea Bussey of Ardmore, Okla.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Barbara Irwin, of Portales, N.M.
Serving as pallbearers will be Kenneth Mozingo, Bill Reed, Bob Meize, Jim Ward, Bob Spurrier, and Warren Herriott.
Larry’s family will receive guests at his visitation on Friday evening, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., May 23, 2014, at Griffin Hillcrest, Ardmore, Okla.
