Elsie Cully

Elsie June (Harjo) Cully, 72, resident of Konawa, Okla. died Thursday, March 6, 2014 at the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center in Ada, Okla.

A Wake service is scheduled for 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Sunday, March 9, 2014 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Monday, March 10, 2014 at the Chapel with Joe Coon and Rev. Jimsey Harjo officiating. Burial will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Keith Sanchez, A.J. Foster, Ronnie Harjo, Frankie Sanchez, R.D. Coody, and Thomas Lindsey.

Honorary Pallbearers are Kenneth Larney, Noe Sanchez, George Tiger, III, Jordan Fixico, Christopher Sanchez, and Carlos Montano.

She was born June 9, 1941 in Sasakwa, Okla. to Minnie (Buck) and Albert Harjo.

She graduated Sasakwa High School and attended college at Okmulgee Technology Center.

She worked as a medical records technician for Wewoka HIS.

She married Harris Cully on Nov. 21, 1960 in Oklahoma City.

She is survived by her husband, Harris Cully of the home; one son, Harold Moore, Oklahoma; one daughter, Connie Cully of Konawa; and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Minnie and Albert Harjo; one sister, Sereda Sanchez; and two brothers, Joe Albert Harjo and Steve Harjo.

Bobbie Daugherty

Bobbie Lou Daugherty, 78, of Martinsville, Ill. died at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 21, 2014 at her residence.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Goodwin Family Funeral Home & Crematory in Casey, Ill. with the Rev. Steve Dolson officiating. Burial will be at Ridgelawn Cemetery in Martinsville.

She was born Sept. 3, 1935, in Seminole, Okla., to Odus and Juanita Crabb.

She married Otis Daugherty in 1951.

She is survived by her husband, Otis Daugherty; four sons, Tim Daugherty and Eric Daugherty, both of Martinsville, Ill., and Tony Daugherty and Bryan Daugherty, both of Marshall, Ill.; one brother, Gerald Crabb of Harrisburg; and one sister, Kathy Smith, of Harrisburg; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter; and one brother.

Memorials may be made to Lincolnland Hospice at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health System.

Arthur Davis Jr.

Arthur Raymond "Bejohn" Davis, Jr., passed away Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014 at his home in Sasakwa, Okla.

Bejohn was born Feb. 5, 1951 to Arthur and Annabelle (Coker) Davis in Wewoka, Okla.

He graduated from Sasakwa High School in 1970 and he was a member of the National Guard.

He married Barbara House on Nov. 7, 1992 in Sasakwa.

Bejohn enjoyed riding his four wheeler on the South Canadian river and spending time with his family and friends, he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by five sisters, Vicki Davis, Vivian Trejo, Lou Ann Davis, Georgia Long, Marilyn Davis; one brother, Terry Davis; three children, Victor Davis, Yauna Walker, and Lavina Perales; ten grandchildren, Josh, Raechel, Nathan, Makayla, Kelby and Karter Davis; Rayla and Trenton Davis, Kamry Walker, and Alissa Frair; six great grandchildren, Rowen and Eli Davis, Kade Davis, Jaden Sanchez, Kolby Alexander and Kasyn Harjo.

Also surviving him are fourteen nieces and nephews, Charles and Martha Gibson, Eric, Jessica and Rickenda Hall, Jeremy McPerryman, Leah Davis, Tori Parker, Alexandria Waller, Kimberly Castro, Charlie Hitcher, Jerilyn Fixico, Jesse Howard and Brianna Davis.

Preceding him in death were both of his parents, Arthur and Annabelle; wife, Barbara; and one grandson, Colton Davis.

Wake services are planned for Saturday, Jan. 4 at 6 p.m. at the Stout-Phillips Funeral Chapel in Wewoka.

Bejohn will then be taken to Spring Baptist Church in Sasakwa on Sunday, Jan. 5 at 4 p.m. with wake services to be held at 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be on Monday, Jan. 6 at 2 p.m. with burial to follow at the Davis Family Cemetery in Sasakwa with Rev. Jimsey Harjo and Rev. Houston Tiger officiating.

Pallbearers are Chris Fixico, Abe Davis II, Jay Harjo, Kenny Bowlegs, Tom Ledgerwood and Mick Clarey.

Angela Davis

Angela Dawn Davis was born on March 8, 1980, in Shawnee, Okla., and departed this life on Tuesday, April 15, 2014, in Midwest City, Okla., at the age of 34.

Angela, the daughter of Bart and Kathy (Winn) Ackerman, was a resident of Prague.

She loved going to bluegrass concerts and enjoyed fishing with her great grandparents, Ben and Ruby.

Angela’s great grandparents, Ben and Ruby Winn, grandparents, Robert and Barbara Ackerman, and half-sister, Jenna Ackerman preceded her in death.

Survivors include her parents, Bart and Kathy Ackerman of Seminole; brother, Colt Ackerman of Seminole; sisters, Courtney Ackerman of Seminole, and Alicia Davis of Prague; grandparents, Clarence and Alta Winn of Paden; best friend, Chrissy White of Seminole; along with other family and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2014, at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel at 10 a.m. in Prague with Ron Ackerman officiating. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole, with Angela’s uncles, Joey Winn, Randy Winn, Rodney Ackerman, Bryce Ackerman, Chris Bruce, and Gene Middleton serving as pallbearers.

Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.

Catherine Davis

Catherine Davis, 75, of Shawnee, Okla. passed from this life Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014 in Shawnee.

She was born July 10, 1939 to Hobson and Bertha (Bateman) Harrison in Wolf, Okla.

Catherine was raised in Modesto, Calif. and graduated from high school in Modesto.

She married Dexter Lee Davis Oct. 31, 1957 in Modesto, Calif. where they began their family.

They moved the family to Oklahoma in 1969 and settled in Maud where she raised her children.

In 1980 she moved to Seminole, Okla. where she has resided until recently moving to Shawnee.

Catherine worked for Doyle’s Quick Stop as a manager, as a deli manager for Homeland and later as deli manager for Firelake.

She enjoyed playing bingo, going to the casino and traveling.

Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, Dexter Lee Davis on Dec. 14, 2008; daughter, Renee Nell Davis; grandchildren, Kassidee Sheppard, Jake White and Richard White; and her parents.

She is survived by two daughters and two sons-in-law, Sherrie Lee and Richard Sheppard of Shawnee and Melinda Gail and David Ray Loman of Earlsboro; son and daughter-in-law, Delmar Dexter and Juli Davis of Meeker; nine grandchildren, Brenden and Rachelle Sheppard, Tyrell and Crystal Sheppard, Michelle and Chad White, Kindra and Brian Wilcox, Catherine Sheppard, Gail Loman, Randy Loman, Delmar II and Tana Davis and Patricia Davis; 22 great-grandchildren; and former daughter-in-law, Marguerite Davis Inman.

In honor of Catherine’s wishes no formal services will be held.

Arrangements are being handled under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Donna Davis

Donna Kay "Nonnie" Aldridge Davis, 52 of Wewoka passed away on Jan. 6, 2014 in Wewoka.

She was born on Jan. 29, 1961 in El Paso, Tex. to Gilbert James Aldridge and Patsy Sue (Eggar) Aldridge.

She had two siblings, Mike and Debbie.

Donna was a graduate of the Holdenville High School class of 1979. She later attended Seminole State College.

Donna worked for many years at First National Bank of Wewoka as a bookkeeper.

She was a member of the Holdenville Church of the Nazarene.

Collecting teddy bears was a hobby but what she enjoyed most was spending time with her nieces and nephews and family. She loved her nieces and nephews as though they were her own.

Preceding Donna in death is her father, Gilbert Aldridge; grandmother, Hattie Eggar; and cousin, Keith Aldridge.

Survivors include her mother, Patsy Sue Gentry of Holdenville; siblings, Mike Aldridge and Andrea Cheatham of Broken Arrow, and Debbie Lucas and husband Danny of Holdenville; nieces and nephews, Cady Lucas of Holdenville, Deric Lucas of Holdenville, Kylee Aldridge and wife, Morgan of Bella Vista, Ark., great-nephew, Ayden Aldridge of Bella Vista, Ark. as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014 at the Holdenville Church of the Nazarene. Rev. Dane Robinson will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Donald Drawbaugh, Greg Arbuckle, Jerry Don Davis, Phillip Lee, Cody Wittmann, Joseph Wittmann, and Danny Lucas.

Interment will follow at the Holdenville Cemetery, Holdenville, Okla.

Services are under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home of Holdenville.

Doyle Davis

Doyle J. Davis, a life long resident of Wewoka, Okla., passed away at his home in Wewoka under the care of hospice on Friday, May 23, 2014. He went to be with the Lord.

He was born on June 27, 1938.

Doyle had a lifetime career in the Oilfield.

Doyle is preceded in death by his parents, John J. Davis and Gertrude Lawrance, great granddaughters, Jenna LeeAnn Frizzell and Jenna Sky Ballard.

He is survived by one son, Chris Davis and his wife Janet; his loving companion, Virginia Forsithe; two brothers, Wilman Davis of Wewoka, Okla. and Paul Davis and his wife Judy of Gore, Okla.; two sisters, Ester Smith and her husband Edmond and Lois Baxter and her husband Phil of Choctaw, Okla.; six nieces and three nephews; his grandchildren, Freedom Medina of Holdenville, Okla., Jason Ballard, James Ballard and Ashley Ballard all of Wewoka, Okla.; great grandchildren, Hector, Gracie, and Mollee Medina, and Nellie and Ryan Ballard.

Memorial services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, May 30, 2014 at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home in Wewoka.

Freddy Davis

July 15, 1943 - March 21, 2014

Precious in the Sight of the Lord is the death of his saints"

Freddy Lee Davis, of Oklahoma City passed away at Integris Hospice House Friday, March 21, 2014 at the age of 70.

Freddy was born July 15, 1943 in Wewoka, Okla. to parents, Roger and Rosetta (Jefferson) Davis.

Freddy graduated from New Lima High School in 1961. He went on to Langston University.

He married Shirley Street on Jan. 20, 1962 and to this union was born, two children, Freddy Jr, and Kellye.

Soon after he was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1968 and served during the Vietnam War. He was discharged honorably in 1970.

He worked at Tinker AFB as a Journey Man for 10 years and Then Midwest Trophy as a buffer for seven years. He retired from labor in 2000.

Also during this time he graduated from Rose State College in 1977 with an Associate degree in Sociology and Criminal Justice.

Freddy became a deacon at his childhood church Scipio Baptist in Lima, Okla. under the leadership of Rev. F.D. Cochran, Sr. and current Pastor Rev. Bradshaw where he served faithfully until he became too ill to make the drive from Midwest City to Lima.

Freddy had a love for the Rodeo. He was a Black Cowboy at heart. His love for horses was shown through his love and care for his paint horses Rocky and Rocket.

He was a faithful member of 17 years to PTSD Vietnam Support group. They call themselves a "Ban of Brothers". He was well loved and respected by them all.

Freddy was preceded in death by his beloved brother, Willard and his parents, Roger and Rosetta.

Freddy is survived by his son, Freddy Davis Jr. of Fort Worth, Tex. and his daughter, Kellye (Davis) Woodfork (Samuel) of Norman, Okla.; two grandchildren, Samuel Woodfork Jr and Sydnie Woodfork; big brother, Zenophar (Zeke) Overstreet; two special nieces, Marcy Barnette of Moore, Okla. and Denise Davis of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and two special nephews, Tommy Brown and Willard Davis Jr,

Special acknowledgement to Howard English (best friend) and Band of Brother from the Veterans Support Group.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon, on Saturday, March 29, 2014, at the Immanuel Fellowship Church in Seminole, Okla. at 3103 Highway # 3 North. Burial will follow at Westwood Cemetery in Wewoka, Okla. Pastor Zenephor Overstreet will be officiating at the service.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole
