Joseph Hale

Joseph Earl " Joe" Hale, 95, Oklahoma City, Okla. resident, died at his home on March 21, 2014.

He was a former longtime Seminole resident, who was born Aug. 13, 1918, in Wewoka, Okla., to Lilly (Carrigan) and Alma Earl Hale.

He retired from Tenneco Oil Company in 1984 as an oilfield foreman.

He married J. Hazel Hale on April 21, 1938, in Seminole.

He is survived by his son, Fred Hale of Norman, Okla.; his brother, Vernon Hale of Los Animas, Colo.; three sisters, Marie Rowe of Clinton, Ark., Orlean Harris of Texas and Peggy Hale of Virginia; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at the Little Cemetery Chapel with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating. Burial will follow at the Little Cemetery, north of Seminole, Okla.

Casket bearers will be Rodney Hale, Jay Kinnard, Kenny Plumlee and Fred Hale.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.

Willie Hale

Willie B. Hale, 81, of Sallisaw died Sunday, July 20, 2014, in Sallisaw.

He was born Oct. 13, 1932 in Wewoka, Okla. to James Luther Hale and Janie Lou Hayes Hale.

He was an Army veteran of the Korea War.

He was the former sheriff in Seminole County, a former Oklahoma City police officer, private detective and horse trainer at Blue Ribbon Downs.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at Agent Mallory-Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Sallisaw with burial at Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka, Okla.

Pallbearers will be Mike and Eddie Stites, Rick Rush, Bobby Callaway, Anthony Hurt and Kevin Toy.

He is survived by a daughter, Tina Kepulis of Stephenville, Tex.; a son, Tim Hale of Sallisaw; a brother, J.R. Hale of Seminole; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Lawnie, Marvin, Eugene and Bobby Jack Hale; and four sisters, Mary McMullen, Ideal Gaines, Thelmer Cox and Ruby Martin.

Viewing will be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Donald Haley

Donald L. Haley, 82, of Terre Haute, Ind., passed away Saturday April 5, 2014 at Springhill Village in Terre Haute, Indiana.

Don was born July 2, 1931 in Clay County to James Erwin and Elizabeth Erwin, he was later adopted by Lawrence and Nannie Haley.

He is preceded by his parents and a son in-law William Tabor.

Don worked in and retired from Insurance Sales.

He was a member of Sugar Grove United Methodist Church, VFW Post #972 where he was the chaplain and was in charge of the funeral detail for many years.

He was a member of American Legion posts #46 and #104.

Don like to bowl and especially enjoyed spending time with wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Don is survived by his wife, Sarah "Sally" Duke Haley, whom he married Nov. 4, 1951.

He is survived by two sons, Donald Kenneth Haley and his wife, Deah of Terre Haute, Ind. and Duke Clayton Haley and his wife, Amanda of Seminole, Okla.

He is also survived by one daughter, Martha Lynn Tabor of Terre Haute, Ind.; one brother, Luther Erwin; and a sister, Elizabeth Hardman both of Brazil, Ind.

He is survived by eleven grandchildren, Spencer Haley, Isac Haley, Crystal Tingley, Jack Coale, Evan Coale, Lauran Kanengiser, Brook Thomas, Coty Gaskins, Haley Walker, Klein Haley and Brody Haley. He is also survived by eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Services are scheduled for Thursday, April 10, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 North 13th Street, Terre Haute, Ind., 47804.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home and from Noon until service time on Thursday.

Burial will be Roselawn Memorial Park, VFW Post #972 will be conducting Military Graveside Services. Rev. Bill Duke will be officiating.

Georgia Ham

Georgia Elizabeth (Colwell) Ham, 85-year-old longtime Seminole, Okla. resident passed from this life on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014 at Golden Rule Care Center in Shawnee, Okla.

She was born May 11, 1928 in Muskogee, Okla. to parents Ezra Johnson Colwell and Lydia (Bailey) Colwell.

After spending several years in California, Georgia and her husband, Claude Ham moved back to Seminole in 1974 from Ventura, Calif. where she had studied music and fine arts.

Georgia was a homemaker and former member of the Seminole V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, the 40 & 8 Veterans organization, she also loved to garden and play bingo.

Georgia was also a true love animal lover who would care for any creature who happened along from birds to cats and dogs.

Survivors include one step-daughter-in-law, Dolores Ham of Bakersfield, Calif.; one sister, Jean Colwell of Seminole; a nephew, James and his wife Linda Robinson of Shawnee who cared for Georgia; and a host of other nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

Georgia is preceded in death by her parents, Ezra and Lydia Colwell; husband Claude R. Ham who died on Dec. 31, 1995; six sisters; two brothers and by one step-son, John Ham.

Graveside services are scheduled for 1 p.m., Friday, Feb. 21, 2014 at Little Cemetery located north of Seminole on Hwy. 99.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.

Eric Haney

Eric Pyle "Packy" Haney, born in Seminole on March 24, 1969 to Ernie Pyle Haney and Dora Bear Haney died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014 in Shawnee, Okla. at the age of 44.

After graduating from High School, he worked for Coates Roofing, CoJac and Citizen Potawatomi Nation.

He was a member of the Hecete Band and the Seminole Nation.

He was married to Redena Sue Colungo.

He is survived by wife Redena of the home; two daughters, Micah Haney of Shawnee, Raley Haney of Shawnee and two brothers, Tracy Haney of Shawnee, and Stacy Haney of Shawnee.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernie and Dora Haney and brother, Vincent Haney.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014 at Hitchitee United Methodist Church with Pastor Rick Deere officiating. Burial will take place at Little Cemetery, Little, Okla.

Serving as casket bearers are Alex Miller, Alvin Miller, Colton Haney, Jordan Haney, Gerald Williams, Justin Boone.

Honorary bearers are Roman Bear, Mike Bear, Sean Lefthand, Ryan Bear, Wiley Bear, Jr., Jake Thorpe, Zane Thorpe, Connor Haney and Christian Tiger.

The body will be at the Swearingen Funeral Home for visitation from 8 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014 until 11 a.m., where he will be taken to Hitchitee United Methodist Church where a wake service will be held at 7 p.m..

Funeral services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.

David Hanks

David B. Hanks, resident of Seminole, died Oct. 13, in a motor vehicle accident in Eufaula, Okla.

He was born March 19, 1956 in Norman, Okla. to Dorothy Hanks of Strafford and Burl Hanks of Byers.

He was preceded in death by his son, Jeremy Hanks of Pauls Valley.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Griffith Hanks; son, Brandon Hanks; and granddaughter, Kaylee of the home; his brother, Gary Hanks, Eufaula; sister Melvena Walker, Strafford; brother, Ray Keezee, Yukon; sister, Liz Christian, Eufaula; mother, Dorothy Hanks, Ada; and father, Burl Hanks, Byers.

Memorial services are pending.

Serenity Hannah

Serenity Peyton Hannah, infant daughter of Leslie Ann (Haire) and Mark James Hannah, Jr. died Friday, Nov. 21, 2014 at St. Anthony’s Hopsital in Shawnee, Okla.

She is survived by her parents Mark and Leslie Hannah of Seminole, Okla., brother Mark James Hannah III and Sister Dalilah Ann Hannah both of Seminole. Her grandparents Robert and Charla Lamoureux of Seminole, Okla., Mark Hannah Sr. of Seminole, and Peggy Tiger Grizzle of Holdenville, Okla..

Funeral services are planned for 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Seminole, Okla. with Rev. Marvin Kehl officiating.

Burial will follow at Little Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Okla.

Ervin Hanson

Ervin L. Hanson, 80, longtime Seminole resident died, Friday, Oct. 24, 2014 at his home in Seminole.

Services will be held Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church in Seminole with the time of the service to be announced next week.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma

Ervin Hanson

Ervin LeRoy Hanson, 80 year old Seminole resident passed from this life Friday, Oct. 24, 2014 at his home in Seminole.

He was born Dec. 15, 1933 in Mobridge, South Dakota to parents, Emil Hanson and Emily (Opheim) Hanson.

Hanson stated in his yearbook, class of 1951, "After graduation I went into the Navy. Upon discharge, I studied electronics at Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis.

In 1957 I relocated to California where I worked on the Minuteman missile computer as a test engineer.

I married Barbara White in 1958 and later had two sons: Steven in 1959, and Michael in 1966.

In the early 1970’s we decided we would escape from the California rat race and move to a small town in Oklahoma (Seminole).

There was not much demand for people with my background in Oklahoma at this time so we bought a restaurant, which we operated for a few years.

In the 1980’s Oklahoma discovered computer controlled machinery so things were good again.

I built and repaired computer controlled machines until I retired in 1994.

Since then I have been working part time as a consultant. LIFE IS GOOD!"

While serving in the United States Navy he earned the National Defense Medal, the Navy Occupation Service Medal and the European Clasp.

During Ervin’s career he had worked for North American Rockwell as a Specialist on Minuteman Computers, as the plant manager for the Goff Corp., owned and operated Bev’s Beef and Rye, Jim Cox, Eaton Corp. where he was an electronic engineer until his retirement and he owned Hanson Fence Company, he was also a longtime member of the N.R.A..

Ervin was also a member of the Elks Lodge and the American Legion.

He loved his granddaughters very much.

He enjoyed shooting pool and doing crossword puzzles.

Survivors include his wife of almost 56 years, Barbara (White) Hanson, of the home, two sons, Steve Hanson and his wife Karen of Seminole, Okla., Mike Hanson of Seminole, Okla., one brother, Dean Hanson of Seminole, Okla., one sister, Bernice Beckly and her husband Jay of Edmond, Okla., two grandchildren, Ariel Hanson and Emily Hanson. He is also survived by a host of other family and dear friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church in Seminole, Okla.

Rev. Gary O. Wilburn will officiate the service, with military honors being presented at the Church.

Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole, Okla.

The family request that donations be made to the Seminole First United Methodist Church or to Lung Cancer Research.

Funeral services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Okla.
