Lucy Jane Hill, 101, longtime Little community resident, died Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Seminole Care and Rehab Center in Seminole.
Lucy was born Aug. 12, 2012 in Polk County, Tex. to Honor (Nowlin) and J. H. Martin, she was the last of eleven children born to them.
Mrs. Hill was an longtime Seminole county educator, she taught at Haney Schools, Strothers School, and Prairie Valley before going to Varnum Schools where she taught for over 25 years and retired after 43 years of teaching.
She attended and graduated from Haney High School and received her Bachelor of Education at East Central College in Ada, Okla. and later received her Masters of Education a the University of Oklahoma.
She was a longtime active member of the Church of Christ at Little.
Mrs. Hill was a huge television sports fan. She loved to watch OU football and New York Yankees baseball.
Lucy married W.R. " Buck" Hill on Feb. 3, 1940 in Okemah, Okla. He preceded her in death on May 19, 2000.
Mrs. Hill is survived by her two sons, Bill Hill of Seminole and Sam Hill and his wife Susan Hill of Kendalia, Tex.; two granddaughters, Stephanie Wade and Juliet Spencer of Oklahoma City, Okla.; two great grandchildren, Justin Elliott and Brandon Elliott, also several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at the Church of Christ at Little, Okla. with Rusty Dawson officiating. Burial will take place at Little Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be the men of the Church of Christ at Little.
Funeral services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
Robert Hill
Nov. 24, 1948 – Sept. 2, 2014
Robert "Butch" Hill, 65, Seminole resident, died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014 in Midwest City, Okla.
Robert was born on Nov. 24, 1948 in Birmingham, Ala. and raised by O’Dell (Smith) Hill and John Cecil Hill.
Robert grew up in Yazoo City, Miss. and attended college at Hinds Junior College and the University of Southern Mississippi.
Robert earned his Masters degree from Pittsburg State University.
He then earned his Ph.D. in English from the University of Tulsa.
His wife, Mary Ann, was in his Freshmen Composition class in 1973 at Tulsa University; they married in 1976.
Robert played drums with Bob Baker and Scott Baker in the Baker Brothers Band from 1977 through 1989.
He moved to Seminole in 1990 after accepting a position teaching English at Seminole State College.
Robert taught at Seminole State College from 1990 to 2000 and at East Central University in Ada, Okla. from 2000 to 2007. He retired from East Central University in 2007.
Robert also played drums with Randy Elston’s band, Cross-eyed Jack, from 2001 to 2010.
Last year Robert joined Randy’s new band, ARe Randal Blues. They played seven jobs recently, and had more shows scheduled.
He is survived by his wife Mary Ann Hill of Seminole, Okla.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Sept. 12, 2014 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel, with a reception following in the funeral home’s reception room.

Kay Hinson
Kay Elizabeth Hinson, 71, Shawnee resident died at her home Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014, with her loving family by her side.
Kay was born in Oklahoma City, Okla., on May 2, 1942 to Lorraine (Phillippi) and Mont Hamilton Davis.
Kay grew up in the Little community, North of Seminole, and attended and graduated from Prairie Valley Schools, west of Little.
Kay was an educator and taught business classes at Shawnee High School for over 25 years. She taught shorthand, business classes, typing and computer and retired in 1994.
She also taught for a brief time at Bethel Public Schools and later taught business classes at Gordon Cooper Vo-Tech.
She attended and graduated from Abilene Christian University with a Bachelor of Arts in Education and then attended the University of Oklahoma where she received her Masters of Education.
She was a member of the Oklahoma Education Association, the National Education Association, Shawnee Association of Classroom teachers, and the Oklahoma Retired Teachers Association.
Kay was an active member of the Northridge Church of Christ. She was a woman of strong faith, who loved the Lord, and spent hours studying and reading His word.
She loved her family and her grandchildren.
She loved to crochet, cook, quilt and was very talented with her handmade cards, for all occasions, which came with a personal note to each person she sent them to.
Kay married Adolph Hinson on July 5, 1997 in Shawnee.
Kay is survived by her husband, Adolph Hinson, of the home in Shawnee; her daughter Tracy Noerper and her husband Rob of Nashville, Tenn.; her brother, Jeff Davis, of Seminole; and her sister, Irene Lawrence, of Lubbock, Tex.; and by her three grandchildren, Gavin Starck, Ian Noerper and Christian Noerper.
Her nieces, Donna Hardin, of Seminole, and Marsha Guymon, of Tulsa, Okla., Linda Dowell, of Lubbock, Tex., Ann Swartz of Groesbeck, Tex., and Carol Werhan of Pittsburg, Kan., and their children, also survive her.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, at the Northridge Church of Christ at 1001 E. MacArthur in Shawnee. Cliff Craig will officiate at the service. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery at 3 p.m.
The family will receive friends and family at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole from 4 to 6 p.m., Tuesday afternoon on Feb. 4, 2014.
Casket bearers will be Dell Hinson, Owen Davis, Rob Noerper, Jessie Owen, Jeff Davis, Jim Hardin and J. Carl Guymon.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
Chalon Holden
Chalon Benjamin Holden, Sr., 73, a resident of Konawa, Okla. died Friday, Sept. 19, 2014 at Integris Southwest Medical Center in Oklahoma City.
A graveside service with military honors is scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, 2014 at Ft. Sill National Cemetery near Elgin, Okla. Rev. Mitch Williams will officiate.
He was born Sept. 14, 1941 at Addyston, Ohio to Gerald Holden and Francis (Keafer) Holden.
He proudly served as a Lance Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps from Nov. 10, 1958 until Dec. 14, 1962.
He married Rosalyn Jewell on Feb. 20, 1960 in Montclair, Calif.
He worked as a long-haul truck driver for Calvin Trucking Industry.
He is survived by his wife, Rosalyn Holden of the home; one son, Chalon Benjamin Holden, Jr. of Nashville, Tenn.; two daughters, Marria Dee York of Ponca City, Okla. and Teresa Ann Collins of Konawa; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Francis Holden and one daughter, Donna Holden.
Billy Holder
Billy Gene Holder, 83, Prague, Okla. resident died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2014 at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Okla.
He was born Nov. 17, 1930 in Paden, Okla. to Tom Holder and Pearl (Newton) Holder.
He served in the United States Army and later worked as a drill bit welder in the oil and gas industry.
Survivors include one brother, Sam Holder of Prague, Okla.; three sisters, Gelena Benge of Tulsa, Okla., Irene Cannon of Prague, Okla., Pauline Clevenger of Seminole, Okla.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Pearl Holder and by his wife, Lola Holder.
Cremation services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
Lois Hooker
Lois McKee Hooker was born Feb. 13, 1927, in Lindsay, Okla., to Raymond Provine and Tressie Verna (Hamilton) McKee.
She died June 18, 2014, in Oklahoma City, Okla.
She married J.D. Hooker on April 13, 1945, in Lindsay.
She was a lifetime homemaker, worked a farm, helped to manage a bait shop, while on the side becoming an LVN, working in hospitals at Snyder and Breckenridge.
She is survived by her daughter, Renoka McCracken, of Graham, Tex.; her son, C.D. Hooker of Fairfield, Iowa; brother, Manuel McKee of Lindsay; sister, Jeannie Bratton of McAlister, Okla.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Hospice, cancer research, or a church of your choice.
Terrell Horton
Terrell Boyce Horton, 74, of Blossom, passed away at his home Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2014.
A Memorial Service with Military Honors has been scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2014 at Bright-Holland Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Scott Hamilton officiating.
Mr. Horton was born March 24, 1940 in Seminole, OK to Roy Allen Horton and Jessie Walters Horton.
He proudly served his country, as a medic in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict.
After completing his military service, he graduated from Westark Community College in Fort Smith, AR, with a degree in nursing and then pursued a nursing career for several years.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his sons, Zachery Horton of Joplin, Mo., Monte Horton & wife Jennifer of Broken Arrow, Okla., Greg Horton of Oklahoma City, Okla. and Michael Horton & wife Cari of Norman, Okla.; one brother, Gary Horton & wife Nancy of Broken Bow, Okla.; his step-mother, Christine Horton of Seminole, Okla.; 9 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
