Somer Perry Jones, 93 year old lifelong Seminole resident passed from this life on Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014 at Seminole Care and Rehabilitation Center in Seminole.
He was born Sept. 3, 1920 in Welty, Okla. to parents William Robert Jones and Lena (Capel) Jones.
Following High School, Somer served in the United States Army during the "Battle of the Bulge, " and had earned the rank of Sergeant.
On Oct. 23, 1944 Somer married the love of his life Mildred Melton in Cambridge, Ga.
Somer worked for the United States Postal Service for 30 plus years before his retirement.
He would walk his entire rout which was anywhere from 18 to 22 miles a day. After he got off work he would head to the golf course and walk the entire course.
Somer was a member of the Seminole First Baptist Church for many years, he was also a member of the "IOOF" Odd Fellows Lodge, the Seminole American Legion and the Seminole Elks Lodge.
Somer leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 70 years, Mildred (Melton) Jones of the home; two sons and a daughter-in-law, D. Bruce Jones and his wife Carol of Seminole, Okla., Mike Jones of Tulsa, Okla.; one brother-in-law, Keith Inman of Oklahoma City, Okla.; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Johnson, Michael Jones, Jeffery Jones and Sam Jones; several great-grandchildren and a host of other family and dear friends.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, Aug. 26, 2014 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2014 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Okla. with military honors. Larry Inman will officiate the service. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole.
Casket Bearers will be Michael Jones, Jeffery Jones, Sam Jones, Roger Inman and Justin Johnson.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
Morning-Star Jumper
Morning-Star (Wise) Jumper, age 35 years departed this life Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014 in Oklahoma City.
She was born March 10, 1979 in Claremore to Harley Jumper and LaNore Wise.
Morning-Star was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
She loved to work out and eating out with her family at Chilinos and Zios.
Morning-Star is preceded in death by her mother; infant son; and grandmother, Tommie Jumper.
Survivors include father, Harley Jumper of Hollywood, Fla.; children, Rickito Toho of Oklahoma City, Derick Toho of Hollywood Fla., Jason Jumper, Lee John Jumper, Ericka Jumper, Asah Jumper all of Hollywood Fla., Emanuell Jumper of Oklahoma City; granddaughter, Isabella Portillo; sisters Jennifer Jumper and Symphony Jumper of Hollywood, Fla., grandparents Henry Wise and Fannie Harjo and numerous other relatives and friends.
Wake service will be 7 p.m. Sunday at Middle Creek #2 Church with Pastor Houston Tiger, and Pastor George Harjoche officiating.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 8, 2014 at Middle Creek #2 with Pastor Houston Tiger and Pastor George Harjoche officiating and burial will be at Tiger Family Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jason Grasshopper, Joseph Grasshopper, Darren Kernell, Treyce Harjo, Ian Lookingglass, Auburn Lookingglass, Toby Hulbutta, and Wesley Pebworth.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Thunder Wise, Nakota Wise, and Harley Jumper.

Leonard Kaney
Leonard Edwin Kaney, 59, former Seminole resident died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2014 at Rose Manor Care Center in Shawnee, Okla.
He was born March 18, 1955 in Talihina, Okla. to James Kaney, Sr. and Lula (Harjo) Kaney.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Monday, Aug. 18, 2014 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole with Jimpsey Harjo and Arthur Carpitcher officiating the service. Interment will follow at High Springs Cemetery in Konawa, Okla.
He was a member of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma.
He is survived by one brother, James Kaney, Jr. of Shawnee, Okla.; two sisters, Elmina Kaney Felson of Seminole, Okla., Faye Kaney Coody of Seminole, Okla.; and a host of other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Kaney Sr.; his mother, Lula Harjo Kaney; one brother, Henry Willie Kaney; one sister, Joyce Kaney Fixico; grandparents, Yahanah Morgan, Willie Kaney, John Harjo; nephew, Micco Coody.

Helen Kelley
Helen Louise Coursey Kelley, 78, of Independence, Kans. died Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, at the First Southern Baptist Church in Independence, Kans. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery.

She was born on May 18, 1936 in Konawa, Okla. to Marvin and Eula Coursey.
She attended East Central University in Ada Okla.
She married Paul Granville Kelley on Oct. 21, 1955.
Survivors include two sons, Russell P. Kelley, Mountain Home, Ark. and Randall D. Kelley of Independence; eight grandchildren; and four great grandchildren; two sisters, Joyce Erwin and Reta Smock and a host of family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband and son, Craig D. Kelley.

Alice Kernell
Alice (Brown) Kernell, 87, lifelong Seminole County resident died Friday, June 6, 2014 at Chickasaw Medical Center in Ada, Okla.
She was born Nov. 9, 1926 in Seminole, Okla., to Jeffie Brown and Annie (Jones) Brown.
She graduated from Bowlegs High School in 1945.
On Nov. 14, 1948, she married Robert Kernell in Bowlegs, Okla.
She was a proud member of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma where she was a member of the Mekusukey Band.
Survivors include one daughter, Debbie Johnson of Bowlegs, Okla.; one granddaughter; and three great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Jeffie and Annie Brown; her husband, Robert Kernell; one son, Robert Kernell; one brother, Raymond Brown.
A wake service will be held at 6 p.m., Sunday, June 8, 2014 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, June 9, 2014 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole with Rev. George Harjoche and Amon Burgess officiating the service. Interment will follow at the Brown Family Cemetery.

Mickey Keys
Memorial service for Mickey Lee Keys, 55, of Shawnee are 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel in Ada, Rev. Bob Langston will officiate.
Mr. Keys died Friday, July 25, 2014 in an Oklahoma City hospital.
He was born July 29, 1958 to Elmer Lee Keys and Norma Sue Hood Keys in Ada, Okla.
He graduated from Byng High School.
He was a truck driver.
Survivors include his son, Thomas Keys and wife Ashley of Seminole, Okla.; his father, Elmer Keys of Shawnee, Okla.; two sisters, Pam Jones and husband Darrel of Shawnee, Okla. and Shelly Williams of Shawnee, Okla.; three grandchildren, Jayden Lee Carter, Nathan Lee Keys and Nolan Luke Keys.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Norma Keys.

Norman Kimrey
Norman Clifford "Red" Kimrey, 88, of Cromwell, died Friday, Aug. 22, 2014 at McAlister Regional Health Center.
He was born Nov. 26, 1925 in Milfay, Okla. to James Clifford and Versa Gertrude Johnson Kimrey.
Red served in the Navy during WWll.
He then worked in all positions of oil field production throughout his life.
He was an avid hunter and trained bird dogs in his younger years. Later his passion was gardening.
He was a member of the Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Alene (Holly) Kimrey in May of 2013, and by one brother and two sisters.
He is survived by four children, Patsy Garner of Powell, Wyo., Shirley Cox and husband Jim of Wewoka, Okla., Harold Kimrey and wife Karen of Tontitown, Ark., Mike Kimrey and wife Barbara of Knoxville, Ark.; one brother, Don Kimrey of Wewoka, Okla.; one sister, Kay Pettis of Cromwell, Okla.; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, at Heritage Funeral Home in Springdale, Ark., followed by burial will be at Elm Springs Cemetery.
Vernon Kinder
Vernon Ray Kinder, 63, former resident of Konawa, Okla. died at his home in Oklahoma City on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa. Burial will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery. Rev. Steve Lowrance and Rev. Mitch Williams will officiate.
Pallbearers are Ron Mitchusson, Ray Roskopf, Mike Sharp, Dylan Miller, Dakota Miller, and Charles Miller.
He was born April 3, 1950 in Ada, Okla. to Harold Lee Kinder and Minnie Lee (Bayne) Kinder.
He graduated from Konawa High School in 1968 and attended Oklahoma University.
With over thirty years of experience, he made a career as a food service supervisor for Integris Southwest Medical Center, and he was also a member of the National Guard.
He is survived by his mother, Minnie L. Kinder of Konawa; one daughter, Crystal Miller of Ada, Okla.; one sister, Diana Kinder of Konawa; two grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
He is preceded in death by his father, Harold L. Kinder.
