Geneva Ethel McNally, 83, formerly of Seminole, died, Thursday, July 10, 2014, in Amarillo, Tex.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m., Monday, July 14, 2014, in Little Cemetery in Little, Okla. with her grandson, Todd Bentley officiating.
Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd., Amarillo, Tex.
She was born Aug. 4, 1930, in Seminole County, Okla., to Robert and Hazel Longacre.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy McNally.
Survivors include two sisters, Betty Aldridge and Bobbie Seifried; her children, Charlene Bentley and husband George and Steve McNally and wife Kay; five grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Paul McSperitt
Paul Clinton McSperitt, 77, a Seminole County resident died Thursday, June 26, 2014 at Midwest City Regional Hospital.
He was born Nov. 16, 1936 in Ada, Okla. to Henry McSperitt and Alta Mae (Vaughn) McSperitt.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret McSperitt of the home; two sons, Paul Daniel "Danny" McSperitt of Seminole, Okla., Bruce Edward McSperitt of Tecumseh, Okla.; one brother, Ray McSperitt of Oklahoma; one sister, Lorene Hungerford of Oklahoma City, Okla.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 11 a.m., Monday, June 30, 2014 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole. Rev. Carl Whitfield will officiate the service. Interment will follow at Little Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
Vada Meadors
Vada Meadors was born on April 26, 1924 to Jessie and Dora Greenwood at Holdenville, Okla.
She died on Monday, Sept. 8, 2014 at the age of 90 in Rockwall, Tex.
She was a seamstress.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Stanley Demings; second husband, Robert Meadors; two sons, Danny Demings and David Demings; one sister, Kathleen Greenwood; and one brother, Duroy Greenwood.
She is survived by her daughter, Elaine Blanton of Rockwall, Tex.; two step daughters, Barbara Taylor of Marlow, Okla., Kathryn Turner of Holdenville, Okla.; two grandchildren; two step grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; six great great grandchildren.
She is also survived by her sister, Betty Ree Horn of Seminole, Okla.; brother, Oral Greenwood of Holdenville, Okla. and a host of family of friends.
Services will be at Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home, Holdenville at 1 p.m. with her nephew Randy Greenwood and Pastor Jerry Sherfield conducting the services. Burial will be at Oakwood cemetery for family only.
Evelene Meeks
Evelene C. Meeks, long time Wewoka resident, died March 21, 2014 in the Wewoka Nursing Home in Wewoka.
She was born in Sasakwa to Finis and Coley Cravens on April 12, 1939.
She attended Wewoka Schools and was employed by the Big Yank Corporation and the Wewoka School Cafeteria.
She married Ray Meeks on April 23, 1956.
Survivors include husband, Ray Meeks of the home; and one sister, Betty Lou Morland of Wewoka.
Services will be held at the Stout-Phillips Chapel on Tuesday, March 25, at 2 p.m. Burial will be at the Little Cemetery in Little.
Richard Melton
Richard Dean Melton, 71, lifelong Seminole resident died Saturday, March 22, 2014 in Tulsa, Okla. Richard was born October 2, 1942 in Seminole, Okla., to Frances A. (Northcott) and Robert A. Melton.
Richard was a gospel minister and had also worked at the Seminole Schools in maintenance. Richard was of the Baptist faith. He graduated from Seminole High School and attended two years of college. He also served his country in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1965 and attained the rank of SP4.
Richard is survived by his five children Rob Melton, Terry Melton, Misty Melton, Amy Casuey and Christy Earhart all of Calif., his grandchildren Melissa, Caleb and Laura McCutcheon, Haley and Steven Hendryx, he is also survived his former wife, Gayla Melton Hendryx of Seminole.
Memorial services will be held at a later date at Little Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Okla.
Avis Merideth
Avis Mayellen Hale Merideth, 91, of Wewoka, died Jan. 16, 2014.
She was born March 28, 1922, in Sparks, Okla., to George Henry Hale and Loretta Smith Hale.
She lived her early childhood years in Ada. When she was a first grader her family moved to Maud where she lived until a year after high school graduation, moving to Wewoka to work for the US Department of Agriculture Soil Conservation Service as a secretary for 38 years.
She married Arlie Robert (Dick) Merideth on Dec. 5, 1944, and they were the parents of one child, Jean Merideth.
Avis was a member of First Christian Church of Wewoka.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Dick; her father George (Henry) Hale; her mother, Loretta Hale; her siblings, Cecil Hale, George Hale, Thelma Jean Hale O'Dell; nieces, Debbie Hale Tacetta, Denora Hale De la Cruz and nephew Ray Hale.
She is survived by her daughter, Jean Merideth of Wewoka and nieces and nephews and their children, Donna Lynn Hale Fulton of Stockton, Calif.; Jim Hale of Kerrville, Tex.; Andy and Sherry Hale of Abiline, Tex.; Sammy and Kelly O'Dell of Joy, Tex.; and Patti and Bill Taylor, Susie and Rick Skaggs and Jim and Debbie O'Dell of Norman, Okla.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 20, 2014 at Stout Phillips Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Tommy Azlin officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka.
Pallbearers will be her nephews, Bill Taylor, Rick Skaggs, Duncan Skaggs, Sammy O'Dell, Jim O'Dell, Timothy O'Dell, and her friend and neighbor Kevin Wallace.
Grace Middleton
Grace Ann Middleton, a Seminole, Okla. resident, died Friday, May 16, 2014 at Seminole at the age of 76.
She was born Oct. 9, 1937, in Atlanta, Ga. to Matthew Maricic, Sr. and Donata Ferone.
She married Earl Richard Middleton.
She retired in 2009, after working as a Chief Operator for Continental Telephone, Verizon Wireless, Wal-Mart and working in the Real Estate profession in California.
She is survived by five sons, Pat Silvestro of Elkhart, Ind., Dale Silvestro of Victorville, Calif., Tony Middleton of Wewoka, Okla., Rick Middleton of Cromwell, Okla., Gary Middleton of Elkhart, Ind.; one daughter, Rosemarie Perry of Albany, Ore.; two sisters, Anna Duncan and Lorene Montero both of Honolulu, Hawaii.
She is also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren and one great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earl Middleton and three brothers, Billy, Matt, and Johnny.
Memorial services will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, located at 2104 Seran Drive, Wewoka.
Cremation services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.
Verlin Miller
Verlin Mae Miller, 81, longtime Seminole resident, died Saturday, April 12, 2014 in Oklahoma City, Okla. Verlin was born September 9, 1932 in Wewoka, Okla. to Virgie Mae (Goff) and J. Henry Weston.
Verlin grew up in Seminole and graduated from Varnum High School as their Valedictorian. She was a longtime faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Seminole. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Girl Scout Leader, Rainbow Mom, Cub Scout Den Mother, Boy Scout Mom and Member of the Homemaker Club of America and a member of the 45th Infantry Women’s Auxiliary.
Verlin was a homemaker, and also worked along side her husband and family at the Miller Plant Farm north of Seminole.
Verlin married Archie Dale Miller on August 25, 1950 in Seminole. He preceded her in death on July 19, 2008.
Verlin is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and David Tillman of Benbrook, Tex., two sons and daughter-in-law’s, Glen and Stacey Miller of El Reno, Okla., and David and Anna Miller of Ogden, Utah; two sisters and brothers-in-law; Mary and Jerry Minihan of Seminole, Okla., and Lelia and Gene Dixson of Albuquerque, N.M.
She is also survived by her six grandchildren; Chase Bilbrey and his wife Tina of Dallas, Tex., Andrew Miller and wife Erin of El Reno, Okla., Aeryn, Annika and Daneli Miller of Ogden, Utah, and two great-grandchildren, Korbin Bilbrey and Riley Bilbrey of Dallas, Tex.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter Diane Miller and her husband Archie Miller, a brother Jud Weston and a granddaughter Emily Miller.
Funeral services are planned for 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Little Cemetery.
Honorary casket bearers will be Chase Bilbrey, Andrew Miller, Erin Miller, Aeryn Miller, Annika Miller and Daneli Miller.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
Mike Million
Mike Wayne Million, 64, of Magazine, Ark. died Monday, Sept. 8, 2014, in Magazine.
He was born March 14, 1950, in Enid, Okla.
He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
Memorial service may be held at a later date.
Cremation was under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
He is survived by his wife, Laura; a daughter, Felicia Woods of Paris; a stepdaughter, Lola West of Magazine; two sons, Justin Million of Driggs and Quentin Million of Booneville; two stepsons, James and Oliver Corley, both of Magazine; a sister, Marie Turner of Enid, Okla.; a brother, Fritz Million of Wewoka, Okla.; 17 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Jimmie Minter
Jimmie Glen Minter passed away at Midwest Regional Hospital on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014 at the age of 58.
He was born Oct. 26, 1955 in Seminole to Carl James Minter and Nedra Ann Mathis Minter.
Jimmie attended Strother School and was employed as a truck driver.
He married Cheryl Graves Lauderdale on Dec. 15, 2000.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl of the home; three sons, James of Mansfield, Tex., Daniel of Greenville, Tex., and Joseph of Seminole; father, Carl James Minter of Seminole; one brother, Dwayne Minter of Charlotte, N.C.; stepchildren, Michael Lauderdale of Marlow, Okla., and Jennifer Lauderdale of St. Louis, Okla.; niece and nephew, Kim and Steven Minter and several other family members.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Nedra Minter and brother, Darrell Minter and first wife, Cathy Minter.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 22, at 2 p.m. at Little Cemetery Chapel.
