This was Mattie's favorite song, and it came to pass on Friday, May 9, 2014 at 1:25 p.m.
Mattie rejoined her beloved family, her parents David Earl and Dellie Jane Muirhead; brothers, Sid Muirhead, Burl Muirhead, and Ples Muirhead; sisters Edna Jackson-Bonnie Faye House-McGaha; husbands, Tom Kinghorn, and Stowman C. Dillman.
Mattie leaves behind a brother, Dewey Muirhead of Wewoka who has faithfully and lovingly visited her everyday and cared for her every need. Dewy was with Mattie when she left this world.
Her last communication was when she lifted her hand and waved good bye to him. It was if she wanted him to know she knew he was with her, until the very end.
Mattie also leaves behind her sister, Carrie Ruth McClelland, of Grandbury, Tex. Mattie was like a second Mother to her and she loved her dearly and will miss her forever.
Mattie is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Mattie's journey of more than 103 years began on June 23, 1910 in Yeager, Okla.
Her parents had moved from Arkansas to Oklahoma. She lived most of her early years in the Phillips Plant area.
Mattie attended a one room school house at Lone Oak.
Mattie became a Christian early in life, mostly going to Brush Arbor revivals, not having any other Church nearby.
Mattie married Tom Kinghorn in 1935, Tom died in 1952.
In 1954 Mattie married Stowman C. Dillman. Her beloved Stowman passed away on Jan. 5, 1980.
Mattie never had any children but loved her family dearly.
Mattie and Stowman lived in Cromwell on their beloved farm for many years.
They were both active in the Cromwell Baptist Church.
They moved to Wewoka in 1972. They were members of the First Baptist Church where Mattie taught Sunday School for many years.
When Mattie was no longer able to live alone she moved to the Wewoka Rehabilitation and Care Center.
After a long well lived life Mattie went to meet her Savior Jesus Christ. What a glorious day.
Services for Mattie were held at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at 2 p.m. with Eddie Neil and Aaron Alsbrook as speakers and burial followed at Wetumka Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Michael Jackson, Timmy Muirhead, Terry Muirhead, Clark Campbell, Randy Chaney, and Jim Moody.
Honorary pallbearer was Tommy Muirhead.
Arrangements were by Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.
Roland Mullins
Roland Edward Mullins, 54, life-long resident of Konawa, Okla. died Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014 at home.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa. Rev. Willie Williams will officiate.
Pallbearers are Tommy Gibson, Zeb Kuestersteffen, Daren Oliphant, Justin Cathy, Michael Palmer, Lee Mullins, and Randy Robertson.
Honorary pallbearers are Sebastian Palmer, Keegon W. Mullins, Talen Cathy, and Jimmy Morehead.
He was born Aug. 24, 1959 in Wewoka, Okla. to Louie Mullins and Mae (Heard) Mullins.
He graduated from Konawa High School and worked as an oilfield driller.
He married Dianna (Anderson) on Jan. 20, 1979 in Konawa.
He is survived by his wife, Dianna Mullins of the home; his mother, Mae Mullins of Konawa; one son, Lee Edward Mullins of Konawa; four daughters, Shala Palmer of Elgin, Okla., Lindsey of Sparta, Tenn., Racine Cathy of Goldsboro, N.C., and Annie Mae Mullins of Konawa; one brother, Steve Mullins of Sasakwa, Okla.; one sister, Debbie Kuestersteffen of Sasakwa; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Louie Mullins; and one brother, Ricky Mullins.
Shirley Myers
Services for Shirley Maxine Myers, 78, of Ada, are 2 p.m. Thursday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel. Mickey Shaw will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.
Mrs. Myers died Monday, Jan. 13, 2014 at a Midwest City hospital.
She was born June 15, 1935 at Oklahoma City, Okla. to Elmer and Modena Hammond Young.
She attended school in Porterville, Calif.
She married Charles Vernon Myers on June 14, 1952 in Ada.
Mrs. Myers worked at Wal-Mart for 26 years.
She was a member of Morris Memorial Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Vernon Myers, of Seminole; a daughter, Sharon Shaw and husband, Mickey of Seminole; her son, Ricky Myers of Yukon; her three grandsons, Derek Shaw and wife, Rachel, Brandon Shaw and wife, Amy, and Ricky Myers and wife, Jessica; one granddaughter, Angie Parks and husband, Jade; three great grandchildren, Jaxon Shaw and Ella and Jase Parks; two brothers, Larry and Nancy Young and Jimmy Young; two brothers-in-law, Gene and Pat Myers and Stanley and Joann Myers; a sister-in-law, Velma Woods; a niece, Norma Weger; and a nephew, Mike Meredith.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister; and two brothers.
Bearers will be Derek Shaw, Brandon Shaw, Jade Parks, Ricky Myers, Kevin Young, Jordan Young and Ronnie Myers.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Criswell Funeral Home in Ada.
Joseph Nappa
Memorial service for Joseph H. "Tennessee Joe" Nappa, 80, former Shawnee resident, will be 1 p.m. Saturday, April 19, 2014, at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with JD Cunningham, officiating.
Joe passed away April 9, 2014, in Watauga, Tex.
Joe was born Oct. 18, 1933, in Jellico, Tenn., to Haleen Mike and Hind Nappa.
He moved to Shawnee as a teenager. He attended Shawnee High School and played football there. He was #87. He graduated in 1953.
He then attended Murray State College and played on the football team.
After graduating from college he went into the retail business.
Joe loved to dance.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Rufus Nappa; one nephew, Rodney Nappa; and one niece, Linda R. Nappa.
Joe is survived by one brother, Mike Nappa, Watauga, Tex.; one sister, Betty Strickland, Tyler, Tex.; five nieces, Nadia, Suzanne, Anne, Janette and Mary; four nephews, Jim, Mike, Michael, and Daniel; and two great nephews, Joshua and Joseph.
Elizabeth Neese
Elizabeth A. Neese, 94, of Amarillo died Sept. 9, 2014.
Graveside service will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014 in Strothers Historical Chapel in Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole Okla.
Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia, Amarillo, Tex.
Elizabeth was born Dec. 24, 1919 in Marlow, Okla. to Ray and Cora Hill.
She married J.D. Neese on Sept. 30, 1936 and together they celebrated over 60 years of marriage.
The couple were dedicated and involved business people. They owned and operated The Silk Purse Dress shop in Seminole shopping center for over 25 years.
Elizabeth moved to Amarillo to be closer to her family.
Elizabeth truly based her life on the attributes of the Proverbs 31 Woman,
"She has the business skills to buy and sell in the market, along with the heartfelt sensitivity and compassion to care for and fulfill the needs of people around her. Cheerfully and energetically she tackles the challenges each day brings. But with all her responsibilities, first and foremost, she looks to God. Her primary concern is God’s will in her life. She is a woman after God’s own heart."
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Neese; her parents; and a son, Dr. Thomas C. Neese.
Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Judith Neese of Amarillo, her sister, Mary Sue Snider of Yukon, Okla., her brother, Richard Hill and wife Sue of Norman, Okla., four grandchildren, Michael Neese and wife Lesa of Bastrop, Julia Dunn and husband Steve of Bastrop, Dr. Susan Neese and husband Danny Richburg of Amarillo, and Andrew Neese of Amarillo, and nine great grandchildren.
Neil Nehrbass, Sr.
Neil Allan Nehrbass, Sr., 67, of Rossville, died on Friday, November 14, 2014.
He was born in Wausau, Wis., where he lived for most of his life before moving to the North Georgia area about 13 years ago.
He made his living as a farmer and brick mason and was a member of Battlefield Ministries Community Church.
He loved going to church, making people laugh and spending time with friends and family.
He was a loving a devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilmer and Anita Nehrbass and two sons.
Survivors include his loving wife of more than 37 years, Linda Faye Stroup Nehrbass of Rossville; seven children, Randy Anderson, Thomas Anderson and Daniel Nehrbass, all of Merrill, Wi., Neil Allan Nehrbass, Jr., Andy Nehrbass, Ashley Nehrbass and Kay Nehrbass all of Rossville; four sisters, Kathleen Kulas of Athens, Wis., LeAnne Barttelp of Wausau, Wis., Mary McCullough of Seminole, Okla. and Lynn Moore of Marathon, Wis.; 13 grandchildren; special friend, Uncle Al and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 21, at the Battlefield Ministries Community Church with Pastor Darrell Vaughn officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of service at the church on Friday.
