She made her way into this world March 14, 1925 as Marion Jenelle Crawford and departed June 7, 2014 as Marion C. Pippin at age 89.
She had been residing at Seminole Care and Rehab for almost a year.
Born in Ranger, Tex. to Homer David (Bob) Crawford and Myrtle Walker Crawford, Marion moved at the age of eight with her family to Seminole, where her father could earn a living for his family of five during the Depression years.
She never wanted to live anywhere else.
As a teen she worked at the 5 and 10 Cent Store and in her early 20's at the Seminole Producer.
Many people will remember her from her 25 years at First Federal Savings and Loan where she retired as a Loan Officer.
Now she is reunited with the love of her life, her husband of 66 years, Ralph A. Pippin, who preceded her in death in 2012.
They were active members of the Seminole Church of Christ for over 50 years.
She is also preceded by her parents; and brothers, Robert Crawford and James Crawford.
Surviving family include a son, Richard David Pippin of St. Robert, Mo.; a daughter, Linda Pippin Griffin Puckett of Hot Springs Village, Ark.; five grandchidren; six great grandchildren; and six great great grandchildren.
Memorial Service will be Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
Rena Pitts
Rena Lou Pitts died Friday May 16, 2014 in Holdenville, Okla.
She was born March 4, 1937 in Hughes County, Okla. to John Lloyd Welch and Grace Pearl (Tippin) Welch.
She graduated from Moss Public Schools.
She had a lifetime career as a waitress.
She had two daughters, Susie and Barbara.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Ralph Lynn Welch and Jimmy Wayne Welch; daughter Paula Pitts, and several grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Gail Pitts; siblings, Rosalee Mulanax, Roy Welch, Ruth Reich, and David Welch.
A funeral service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at the Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel in Holdenville. Rev. Dane Robinson will officiate the service.
Pallbearers will be her nieces and nephews.
Interment will follow at Wetumka Cemetery in Wetumka.
Services are under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home in Holdenville.
Sonya Pohlemann
Sonya Gwyn (Wise-Talamasey) Pohlemann, 50, lifelong Seminole County resident died Monday, June 30, 2014 in Maud, Okla.
She was born Sept. 15, 1963 in Tulsa, Okla. to Sally (Wise-Talamasey) Wolf and to Raymond Wolf.
She attended school in Tulsa before moving to Seminole County.
She was also a member of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma where she was part of the Hvteyievlke band.
She worked in the fast food industry until later becoming a caregiver.
She married Gary Pohlemann, Jr. in 2003 in Shawnee, Okla.
Survivors include her father, Raymond Wolf of Seminole, Okla.; her husband, Gary Pohlemann, Jr. of the home; and one son, Cory Nedd of Seminole, Okla.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Sally (Wise-Talamasey) Wolf; one brother, Alan Hulbutta; and one infant son, Johnny Joe Fixico.
Wake services are scheduled for 7 p.m., Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Hitchittee Methodist Church with Rev. Rick Deer officiating.
Funeral services will be held at Hitchittee Methodist Church at 1 p.m., Thursday, July 3, 2014. Interment will follow at the Church Cemetery. Rev. Rick Deer will officiate the service.
Casket bearers will be Kevin Pohlemann, Will Pohlemann Sr., William Pohlemann Jr., Dezmen Rose, Aden Talamasey, and Josh Deatherage.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
Cora Pollard
Cora Mae Pollard, 70, longtime Seminole resident passed away Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2014 in Midwest City, Okla.
Cora was born on July 28, 1944 in Henderson, Tex. to Dorothy Virginia (Branscum) and Don Dan Gregg, Sr.
Cora attended schools in Elmore City, Okla. and graduated from Elmore City High School in 1962 and attended East Central University in Ada, Okla.
She was the cafeteria manager at Paden Schools 14 years and later at Red Oak Schools for several years.
She was also a homemaker and pastor’s wife.
Cora moved to Seminole thirteen years ago from Davenport, Okla.
She was a member of the New Life Assembly of God Church in Earlsboro, Okla.
She loved to quilt, and was very good at knitting and all kinds of handcrafting.
She loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren, her cows and other farm animals at her farm.
Cora married Gary Pollard on March 26, 1964 in Ada, Okla. and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year.
Cora is survived by her husband Gary Pollard of Seminole, Okla.; three sons, David Pollard and his wife Robin of Prague, Okla., Kevin Pollard and his wife Amy of Wewoka, Okla. and Greg Pollard and his wife Misty of Prague, Okla.; her brother Don Gregg of Wichita Falls, Tex.; three sisters, Louise Rankin of Davis, Okla., Irene Davenport of Wilson, Okla. and Mary Bivins of Purcell, Okla. She is also survived by six grandchildren and one great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter; and a granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 11, 2014 at the New Life Assembly of God Church at 48303 East Highway #3, Earlsboro, Okla. Her brother-in-law and two sons, Dale Pollard, Greg Pollard and David Pollard will officiate at the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donation be made to the Stephenson Cancer Center at the OU Medical Center at 800 NE 10th Street, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in Cora’s name.

Stewart Ponkilla
Stewart Raymond Ponkilla who’s Indian name is, "PI CHI DE KA TA", 59, lifelong Seminole, Okla. resident died Monday, July 14, 2014 at Midwest City Regional Hospital.
He was born Sept. 23, 1954 in Chandler, Okla. to Ray Ponkilla and Marie (Johnson) Ponkilla.
He graduated from Strother High School in 1972 and went on to continue his education studying two years in college.
He then worked as a landscaper and in maintenance.
He served in the United States Army where he earned the National Defense Medal; Expert (Grenade); Sharpshooter (M60 MG); Sharpshooter (Rifle); and Sharpshooter (Pistol) commendations.
He is survived by his mother, Marie (Johnson) Ponkilla of Seminole, Okla.; one son, Derek Ponkilla of Oklahoma City, Okla.; two brothers, Bob Ponkilla of Edmond, Okla., Stephen Ponkilla of Seminole, Okla.; two sisters, Ramona Ponkilla of Oklahoma City, Okla., Janell Raylene Ponkilla of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and three grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his father, Ray Ponkilla and by his brother, Clifford Ponkilla.
A wake service will be held at 6 p.m., Thursday, July 17, 2014 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Friday, July 18, 2014 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole. Interment will follow at Little Cemetery with Military Honors.
Casket Bearers will be Bob Ponkilla, Stephen Ponkilla, John Ray Hunter, John Underwood, Jacob Underwood, and Gerald Williams.
Honorary bearers will be Charles Mitchell, William Larney, Ronald Bear, Porter Bear Jr., Sean Lefthand, Irby Larney, John Thompson, John Still, Steve Harjo, and Percy Harjo.

Linda Porter
Linda Marie Porter a Wewoka resident past away Monday, May 5th, 2014 in Shawnee, Okla. at the age of 58 years.
She was born April 23, 1956 in Oklahoma City, Okla. to the late Leroy Shorter and Imogard (Gobbler) Shorter.
Linda married John Lee Porter June 10, 1978 in Wewoka, Okla., he preceded her in death May 16, 2004.
She was a homemaker.
Preceding Linda in death are her parents; husband John; brother Roy Lee Shorter; grandchild Johnathen Porter.
Survivors include son, Michael Porter and wife, Candie of Wewoka; grandchildren Alexis Porter, and Alexander Porter; brothers Jackie Shorter, Hubert Shorter, and Hamen Shorter, one sister Katie Hall and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Mission Home Baptist Church with Pastor Mathew Wyatt officiating and burial at Oakwood Cemetery.
Charles Posey
Nov. 29, 1935 - April 2, 2014
Charles Leonard Posey, 78-year old Seminole, Okla. resident passed from this life on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 in Seminole.
He was born Nov. 29, 1935 in Maud, Okla. to parents Cyrel Posey and Ozie Mae (Yerby) Posey.
Charles graduated from Wolf High School in 1952 and went on to attend two years at Murray State College.
Then in 1958 Charles joined the United States Army where he served in Korea.
On April 5, 1959 Charles married the love of his life Joann Julia Jones in Midwest City, Okla.
Charles worked as a shipping supervisor for over twenty-five years at Tinker Air Force Base in Midwest City, Okla. retiring in 1988.
The couple moved to Seminole fifty years ago from Oklahoma City.
They are also members of the First Assembly of God Church in Seminole.
Charles leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 55 years, Joann Julia (Jones) Posey of the home; two sons, Brad Posey and his fiancé Regina Northcott of Wolf, Okla., Phillip Posey and his wife Peggy of Seminole; one daughter, Laura Long and her husband David of Seminole; nine grandchildren, Renee Ross of Choctaw, Okla., Lori Holland of Broken Arrow, Okla., Julia Dennis of Seminole, Chris Posey of Carter, Okla., Tyler Sharber of Sayer, Okla., Alexis Long of Seminole, Logan Long of Seminole, Halen Posey of Seminole, and Braiden Grey of Seminole.
Charles is also survived by several great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents and by his grandparents who raised him in the Wolf area, Thomas and Zelda Yerby.
Memorial Services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Monday, April 7, 2014 at the Seminole First Assembly of God Church located at 420 East Evans Street in Seminole with Rev. Doyle O. Long officiating the service.
