Ronald Reich
In the arms of an angel, Ronald Lee Reich passed from this life into Heaven to the feet of his Father on May 2, 2014.
In San Diego, Calif. on Jan. 1, 1943 during World War II, to the delight of his parents, Lee and Monnie Reich, a beautiful baby boy was born.
He was the oldest of "the boys", his brothers, George Edward and Jimmy Dale were later born in Wewoka.
Ronnie attended school in Sloat and Quincy, Calif. and Wewoka all of his life as the family followed construction jobs.
Monnie decided that moving with three little boys across the country was not the best plan, so she and Lee set down permanent roots in Wewoka, near the boy’s grandparents, Edward and Eva Barnes.
The boys loved to tell stories of the great life they had growing up by their grandparents!
Apparently, a grandparent’s job of spoiling, extending wisdom and protecting grandchildren has been the same for many years.
Well, until the great-grandchildren come along and then the tides changed.
Ron was taught the importance of God, family, friends, and community by his parents and extended family. Lessons he would pass along to future generations with pride.
Ronnie graduated from Wewoka High School and East Central University.
Through friendships made while working in the kitchen at East Central Ronnie met David Welch and then David’s beautiful sister, Ruth Welch.
Ron and Ruth would marry on a dreamy snowy night at a small country church in a setting straight out of a Christmas movie in December 1968.
Two years later, the first of two children was born, Ronda Grace.
Two years later, Roy Lee was born and the family was complete.
Ron spent his entire life pursuing his love of building new things and exploring and creating new technology.
Ron worked in Tulsa for a short time before deciding to return to Wewoka where he worked for Acker Industry designing expanded metal machines.
Ron would continue to further his education by obtaining a Master degrees over his life as well as taking other courses in computers throughout his life.
Working as a draftsman and electrical engineer for many years at Goff in Seminole would provide Ron with new friends, mentors, and a way to support his family the remainder of his working career.
With a passion to teach others, Ronnie taught at Gordon Cooper Vo-Tech for many years.
Designing and creating floats and haunted houses for various community and school activities were avenues for Ron to support community causes.
Serving as a Boy Scout Leader for many years, Ron loved teaching the young men about Scout values and lessons, where he also showed them how to do woodworking projects even helping five young men with their projects to obtain their Eagle rank.
After his retirement, Ron began volunteering at the Seminole Nation Museum with various projects including Sorghum Day activities.
He also served the community by helping to update all the records of the Oakwood and Westwood Cemeteries.
Ron loved his family and researched his own genealogy
over his entire life span, taking various trips to meet distance relatives and listening to lively and eventful stories that would fill his beloved brief case after each trip!
He loved to watch Si-fi and western movies.
Awaiting Ronnie in Heaven was his father, Lee Mathew Reich; mother, Monnie Jean (Barnes) Reich; grandparents, George Washington and Mattie (Hanning) Reich and Edward Mack and Eva (Smith) Barnes, as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 45 years, Ruth Reich of the home; daughter, Ronda Grace Reich of Wewoka; son, Roy Lee Reich of Wewoka; special great-nephew Aiden Absher; brothers George Reich and wife Carol of Holdenville, Jimmy Reich and wife Billie of Broken Arrow; aunt Hazel Morphis of Wewoka; uncle Leon Barnes and wife Alma of Toledo, Ohio; aunt Mary Ellen Reich of Wewoka; sister-in-laws, Rena Lou Pitts of Holdenville and Rosalee Mulanax of Weatherford, Tex.; brother-in-laws, Roy Welch and wife Maxine of Lamar, David Welch of Richmond, Tex. as well as a host of other cousins whom were like siblings to Ronnie, nieces and nephews and other family and friends.
A celebration of Ron’s life will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Wewoka. Rev. Dane Robinson will officiate, assisted by Bill Robinson and Bro. Jay Badry.

She worked tirelessly to provide for her family and to ensure that they had good educational opportunities.
