Loren Charles Simpson, 89, former Seminole and Meeker resident died July 9, 2014 at the Norman Veteran’s Center.
He was born Sept. 1, 1924 in Cromwell, Okla. to Charlie and Rosa (Jardon) Simpson.
He served in the United States Army during World War II where he was a recipient of the Purple Heart.
He later went on to be a contract welder.
He married Glenna Sue Leard on Nov. 26, 1946 in Independence, Kans.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Glenna; his parents, Charlie and Rosa Simpson; one son, Richard Simpson; two brothers; and two sisters.
Survivors include one son, Larry Simpson of Norman, Okla.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Graveside services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Monday, July 14, 2014 at Cummings Cemetery in Maud, Okla.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
Ramona Slayton
Wewoka resident Ramona June Slayton, age 71 passed away Wednesday morning Jan. 8, 2014 in Okmulgee, Okla.
She was born Nov. 30, 1941 in Wewoka to the late Merral and Elsie (Penny) Riddle.
She attended New Lima Public schools.
Ramona married Floyd Franklin Slayton in 1959 in Albuquerque, N.M. and two this union two daughters were born.
She worked for St. Mary's Hospital in McAlester for a number of years as a nurse.
She was a member of Gleaners Holiness Church.
Ramona enjoyed sewing, gardening, and spending time with her family and church family.
Preceding Ramona in death are her parents; husband, Floyd Slayton; and brother, Leon Sperry.
Survivors include daughters, Coleen Henson and husband, Tommy of Okmulgee, Okla., Chrissy Curry and husband, Jason of Wewoka; brothers, Billy Riddle of Michigan, Douglas Wayne Penny of Muskogee; sister, Diane Riddle of Missouri; one grandson, Danuil Leon Griggle; four grandchildren, Chance Tipken, Steven Tipken, Cayleb Mitchell, and Lexis Mitchell, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014 at Oakwood Cemetery with Bro. Larry Chesser officiating.
Arrangements are by Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.
Darlene Smith
Darlene Condulle Smith, 74, longtime Seminole county resident, died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014 in Seminole, Okla.
She was born Nov. 6, 1939 in Seminole to Alice (Yahola) and Arthur Charlie Condulle.
She was a longtime cook for "Project Heart" in Maud, Okla.
She married Glen Smith in Konawa, Okla. on Sept. 6, 1960.
She is survived by a son, Farrel Smith of Maud, Okla.; two daughters, Lisa Silas of Tecumseh, Okla. and Glenna Allison of Seminole; one brother, Paul Williams of Maud; sister, Wanda Williams of Maud; four grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Condulle; her mother, Alice Williams; her husband, Glen Smith; a brother, Ted Williams; and step father, Wilson Williams
Funeral services are planned for 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014 at the Achena Presbyterian Church southeast of Maud with burial at Achena Church Cemetery. Gene Wilson will officiate at the funeral service with Elders Rick Harjo, Louis Fife and Frank Sewell assisting.
There will be a wake service 6 to 7:30 p.m.., Friday, Jan. 17, 2014 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel .
Casket bearers will be Carl Allison, Cody Silas, Paul Williams, Christopher Williams, Kurtis Silas and James Allison.
Honorary bearers will be Shawn Harjo, Rick Harjo, Frank Sewell, Louis Fife and Billy Porter.

Joe Smith
Joe Dean Smith, 73, Tecumseh resident died, Friday, June 20, 2014 in Tecumseh.
He was born June 27, 1940 in Seminole County to Opal J. (Porter) and Joe H. Smith.
He was a truck driver and mechanic for Gilbert and Sons Trucking in Tecumseh.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 28, 2014 at the Little Cemetery. Officiating at the services will be Rev. Daryl Whitten.

Karen Smith
Sept. 22, 1946 - July 27, 2014
Karen Smith, 67, longtime Seminole resident died Sunday, July 27, 2014 in Oklahoma City, Okla.
Karen was born Sept. 22, 1946 in Shawnee, Okla. to Virginia Lee (Sullivan) and Dorsey Dohn Crouse.
Karen was raised by her grandparents, Warren and Jennie Sullivan, who lived in the Saint Louis, Okla. area and she attended schools in the area.
She later received her college degree in Business from the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Okla.
Karen worked for the State of Oklahoma for many years as a computer programmer at the Oklahoma Bureau of Investigation, Department of Finance, Department of Transportation, as a computer programmer, and at Griffin Memorial Hospital in Norman, Okla.
After her retirement with the state of Oklahoma, she worked for Hertz Car Rental, Fleming Foods, and later for Eastern Hills Hospice and May’s Hospice as a Chaplain.
She was also currently an instructor at Seminole State College in Computer Science and Accounting.
Karen loved to help people.
She was a member of the Lighthouse Tabernacle Church of God in Seminole.
Karen was a loving mother to her children, she also loved her church and traveling.
Karen was a pianist and loved to sing.
Her and her late husband, Don Smith pioneered, Westside Baptist Church in Seminole, Okla., they were known as, "The Singing Smith Family, " Karen also loved to play gospel music with her late husband Olen McCullar. The couple enjoyed playing at area nursing homes for patients.
Karen is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Brandon and Leigh Anne Smith of Seminole, Okla.; her daughter and son-in-law, LaDonna and Rusty McAlvain of Seminole, Okla.; her sister, Jana Blalock of Shawnee, Okla.; four grandchildren, Chad McAlvain, Paige McAlvain, Korbin Scott and Taevyn Scott.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her grandparents, Warren and Jennie Sullivan; her first husband, Don G. Smith; her second husband, Olen McCullar; and a sister Charlene Kemper.
Funeral services are planned for 2 p.m., Friday, Aug. 1, 2014 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bruce Benson officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Saint Louis, Okla.

Lonnie Smith
Lonnie Allen Smith of Holdenville was born March 9, 1939 in Coweta, Okla. and died Jan. 27, 2014 in Shawnee.
He operated a home remodeling company and Smith Carpet and Tile in Wewoka.
Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the Free Pentecost Holiness Church in Lamar, Okla. under the direction of Williamson-Spradlin Funeral Home of Wetumka.
Raymond Smith
Raymond N. Smith, lifelong Seminole resident passed away Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014 at the age of 89 in Seminole, Okla.
He was born on Sept. 20, 1924 in Seminole to parents, Edward Josh Smith and Daisy Jewel Chandler.
Raymond while in the United States Army, served in New Guinea, and in South Philippines where he received the Asiatic Pacific Theater Philippine Liberation Victory Medal.
Raymond move from Lindsey, Okla. 45 years ago and worked for B. J. Services. He began his career with them as a truck driver and on to being a salesman.
He was of the Baptist faith, belonged to the American Legion and the NRA.
Raymond married Louise Drewry on Nov. 11, 1948 in Cromwell, Okla.
Raymond is survived by his wife, Louise of the home; one son, Wayne Smith and Bonnie Schomp of Earlsboro, Okla; one daughter, Peggy Posey and her husband, Phillip Posey of Seminole, Okla; one brother, Thurman Smith of Bowlegs, Okla; and one sister, Nellie Lee of Shawnee, Okla.
He is also survived by six grandchildren, Toni Dyan Whitt of Florida, Malinda Alayne Porter and her husband Tony of Florida, William Edward Smith and his wife Haley of Del City, Okla, Tyler Sharber and his wife Whitney of Sayer, Okla, Renee Ross and her husband Eric of Choctaw, Okla, Chris Posey and his wife Angel of Carter, Okla and 14 great grandchildren.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Daisy Smith; two brothers, Roy and Amos Smith; one great granddaughter, Alexia Sharber; and one sister, Uelma Smith.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Mark Hennen officiating.
Concluding the Memorial service will be the United States Army Honor Guard.
Cremation services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.
Billy Snell
Billy Joe "Bill" Snell, 85, former longtime Seminole resident and businessman, died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014 in McKinney, Tex.
He was born Dec. 8, 1928 in Seminole, Okla. to Dora Gertrude (Mosley) and Fred S. Snell.
He was owner of Snell Pipe and Supply in Seminole and served as a deputy sheriff for the Seminole County Sheriff’s department and a police officer for Seminole Police Department along with being a long city councilman, for the City of Seminole.
He was a longtime member the Seminole Rotary Club and was also retired from the Oklahoma Corporation Commission.
He served his country in the U.S. Army and attained the rank of Technician Fifth Grade.
He is survived by two sons; Wayne Snell of Auburn, Wash. and William Snell of Oklahoma City, Okla.; two daughters, Pat McNatt of Plano, Tex. and Diana Snell of Greenwood, Ark.; three sisters, Johnnie Hailey of Oklahoma City, Nona James and Mary Seyfert of Seminole; 12 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
His parents, four sisters, two grandsons and one great granddaughter preceded him in death.
Funeral services are planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole with military honors. Clark McNatt will officiate at the funeral services.
Casket bearers will be Jeff Seyfert, Michael Dunn, Jerry Boyd, Jackie Boyd, Ronnie Bledsoe and Shawn Scozzari.
