Alvin Tall Bear, 86, died March 30, 2014 at the Oklahoma City Veteran’s Medical Center.
A wake service is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 3 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, April 4, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Konawa. Fr. Adrian Vorderlandwehr, O.S.B. will officiate. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Robert R. Tall Bear, II, Jimmy Jordan, Jim Moon, Mark Noteware, Paulo Gonzales, and Jamie Cervantes.
Honorary Pallbearers are Sylvester Alley and Danny Echohawk.
He was born March 3, 1928 in Pawnee, Okla. to Floyd Tall Bear and Lillian (Kihega) Tall Bear.
He attended Chilocco Indian School and attended A&M College.
He married Johnnie Mae Rhodd on Feb. 14, 1952 in Bentonville, Ark.
He was the owner and operator of Recon Construction.
He entered the U.S. Marine Corps in 1948 and was a veteran of the Korean War. As Staff Sergeant, he was a high ranking drill instructor and a recipient of the nation’s fourth highest service medal, The Silver Star. The award was presented to him for his action during the First Marine Division’s great push toward Chunchon, in the spring of 1951.
He is survived by his wife, Johnnie Mae Tall Bear of the home; four sons, Alvin Tall Bear, Jr. of St. Louis, Okla., Mike Tall Bear of St. Louis, Okla., John Tall Bear of Lexinton, Okla., and Robert R. Tall Bear also of St. Louis; three sisters, Marlene Echohawk of Albuquergue, N.M., Lou Lerma of El Reno, Okla. and Carolyn Levi of El Reno; three grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Lillian Tall Bear; one brother, DeForest Tall Bear; and one grandchild, Misty Love Tall Bear and a new-born brother.
Louise Taylor
Louise (Mount) Taylor, Seminole resident, passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at Norman, Okla. at the age of 88.
Louise was born March 13, 1926 in Wetumka, Okla. to parents, Charlie E. Mount and Dona Mae (Shaw) Mount.
She was a homemaker, taking care of her family.
Louise married Vernon Taylor, in Reno, Nev. on Oct. 24, 1945. He preceded her in death on Oct. 1, 2004.
Louise is survived by one son, Vernon Leon Taylor, and his wife, Linda of Choctaw, Okla.; three daughters, Loretta Dye and her husband, Conway of Norman, Okla., Oda Lott of Norman, Okla., Jean Taylor of Norman, Okla.; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Louise, was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Dona Mae Mount; husband, Vernon Taylor; one son; eight brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Brenda Drake officiating. Burial will be at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens of Seminole, Okla.
Casket bearers are grandson, Eric Bottoms, Mike Taylor, Jack Blaylock, Tyler Blaylock, Coleby Taylor and Caleb "Peanut" Taylor.
Funeral services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.
Ronald Taylor
With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Ronald Allen Taylor, 73, of Seminole, Okla.
He was born in Oklahoma City on Oct. 22, 1940 and passed peacefully in his home surrounded by family, Jan. 16, 2014.
His body is now fully restored and we are rejoicing in knowing that he is with Jesus.
Surviving him are his wife of 53 years, Betty; and his children, Ken and Christal Taylor of Seminole, Wendy and Rick Groshong of Edmond, Okla. and Christi and Brandon Donaldson of Edmond.
Ron's legacy also includes eight beautiful grandchildren: Jaden, Jaret, Hailey, Merrick, Jacelyn, Ethan, Christina, and Aleena as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
They will miss his sense of humor, practical jokes, but most of all his unconditional love.
Ron's life was a continuous adventure.
He served in the Air Force, he loved racing cars and motorcycles, he was a pilot and loved to fly, he could catch a fish like no one else, he was a great entrepreneur.
Most of all he loved sharing Jesus with everyone he met.
A celebration of his life will be at Immanuel Fellowship on Tuesday, Jan. 21st at 11a.m. in Seminole.

Thomas Taylor
Thomas Alan "Tom" Taylor, lifelong Seminole resident died Sunday, May 4, 2014 at Shawnee, Okla. at the age of 56.
He was born March 20, 1958 in Shawnee to William Alexander (Dub) Taylor and Wilma Fay (Fisher) Taylor.
After attending college he entered the military and served in the United States Army, where he was requested to attend West Point.
After his time in the army, he was employed at the Federal Corporation in Oklahoma City, Sherwin Williams Paint, Pumping Jack Chemicals, Norwesco, worked as a CNA and was assistant to the water supervisor of the City of Seminole.
He married Nita Taylor on June 30, 2004 in Prague, Okla.
He is survived by his wife of the home, Nita Taylor; mother, Wilma Taylor of Seminole; two sons, Chris Splawn of St. Louis, Okla., Darryn Splawn of Seminole; one daughter, Julie Stiner of Midwest City, Okla.; two brothers, Greg Taylor of Sulphur, Okla., Rod Taylor of Shawnee; three grandchildren.
At the Memorial Service there will be an opportunity for family and friends to share their memories of Tom.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dub Taylor; one uncle, Gary Fisher; and his grandparents.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at First Baptist Church of Seminole with Dr. Doug Melton and Rev. Russell Vicars officiating.
Serving as honorary casket bearers are Rod Taylor, Greg Taylor, Dwight Simpson, Gary Allen Fisher, Bobby Walker, Hank Brockway and Ron Sheppard.
Cremations services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.
Relta Templeton
Relta Mae Hopkins Templeton, 88, longtime Maud, Okla. resident, died Saturday, May 17, 2014 in Tecumseh, Okla.
Relta was born Sept. 25, 1925 near Meeker, Okla. to Charley R. "Gramps" Roberts and Alta (Gooker) Roberts.
Relta was a beauty operator in Maud since Nov. 19, 1962.
She received her instructor‘s license in 1964 and taught three students in her salon.
Her home has been in Maud since 1948.
Relta married Frank Hopkins in 1947, in Stillwell, Okla., and he preceded her in death on March 25, 1967 and later married Douglas Templeton in 1967, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 16, 1999.
Relta belonged to the Rebekah Lodge, and went through the chairs and held all of the offices of the lodge.
She also served as lodge deputy and district deputy under Lorene Davenport, Assembly president.
She partially retired to take care of her dad, and Douglas, her husband, after his stroke.
She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Shawnee, Okla.
Relta is survived by her grandsons, Frank Hopkins, Jr. and his wife Amanda of Maud, and Nick B. Hopkins and Jennifer of College Station, Tex.; one nephew, Larry G. Bell of Del City, Okla., and six great grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; one son, Frankie Daryl Hopkins, Jr. who died July 7, 2005; two brothers, Charles Roberts and Allen Roberts; and one sister, Betty Bell.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 23, 2014, at the Church of Christ in Maud with Frank Brewer officiating. Burial will follow at the Tecumseh Mission Cemetery in Tecumseh.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Knight- Swearingen Funeral Home in Maud.
Henry ‘Jack’ Terry

Henry "Jack" Terry, age 81 and a resident of Konawa, Okla., passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City, Okla.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 27 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa. Richard Winters will officiate, and burial will follow at Konawa Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mike Boren, Rube Griffin, Darrell Mackey, Bob Thomas, and Randy Walker.
Honorary pallbearers will be Roger Harrod, Tom B. Longest, Lillard Berry, and Burnis Fisher.
The family will greet friends and relatives on Tuesday night at the Konawa funeral home from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.
Jack was born on May 16, 1932, in Dallas, Tex. His parents were Jack Terry and Susie (Morgan) Terry.
Jack spent his childhood in the oilfield in Oscar, Okla. in Jefferson County.
He attended school in Oscar until the seventh grade.
While our nation was at war in 1942, all schools participated in scrap-drives. Jack’s school had the most pounds per student of all the Oklahoma schools. Jack was selected to represent his school and the State of Oklahoma by taking a trip to Washington, D.C. to meet Franklin D. Roosevelt and to christen the Liberty ship, USS Will Rogers along with Mrs. Will Rogers.
Jack’s family eventually moved to Saint Jo, Tex. to another oilfield.
He graduated high school in 1950 and worked as a roughneck in the summer for Kingery Drilling Company.
He started college at Oklahoma A&M and majored in petroleum engineering.
In 1952, he changed his major to Geology, and in 1953, he was offered a job as Junior Engineer for Dowell Inc.
After graduating in 1954 from Oklahoma A&M with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Geology and a minor in Petroleum Engineering, Jack started work as a trainee engineer for Dowell Inc. in Seminole, Okla.
He was promoted to District Engineer in 1958.
In the next few years, he obtained a patent pending for a hydraulic brake device, and he learned to fly an airplane.
Jack started the only frac tank business in Oklahoma in 1958 and pursued this business until establishing an oil and gas well stimulation company in 1971.
Since 1971, Jack purchased and drilled oil wells.
During the early 1980's, Jack worked much of his time in geology in the consulting business.
He was also the President and General Manager of Chem-Frac, Inc., in Ada, Okla.
On April 10, 1994 in Konawa, Jack married Glenda (Anderson) Moon.
He was also a member of the Church of Christ in Konawa.
Jack is survived by his wife, Glenda Terry of the home; one son, Mike Terry and wife, Patty of Edmond, Okla.; one step-daughter, Tina Moon of Shawnee, Okla.; two granddaughters, Michelle Webster and husband, Aaron of Edmond, Okla. and Melissa Terry, also of Edmond, Okla.; two grandsons, Jackson and Tyler Moon; one great grandchild, Lily Grace Webster; his in-laws, Evert and Lillian Anderson; and several nieces and nephews whom he considered family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Susie Terry; one son, Keith Terry; one step-son, Steve Moon; and sister-in-law, Nelda Bailey.
