Rheuben Whitfield Green, of Rush Springs, departed this life, in Rush Springs, on Jan. 15, 2009, at the age of 91 years, 10 months and 2 days.
Rheuben Whitfield Green was born to Robert Whitfield and Birdie Dee (Clark) Green in-between Sayre and Cheyenne in Roger Mills County, on March 13, 1917.
Rheuben grew up in western Oklahoma and graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1942. He married Thelma Brown on Feb. 22, 1942, in Norman. They served as foreign missionaries for International Crusades in South America for several years, he preached in most of the South American countries in both Spanish and Portuguese, including a Leper Colony in Brazil. He taught music at Temple High School in Temple, until he retired at the age of 72. He spent 56 years as a minister and retired from that at the age of 81.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, of Sterling. He enjoyed playing and teaching music, studying languages to include Spanish, Portuguese and German, and also enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include his wife Thelma Green, of the home; son, Rheuben Green and his wife Myong, of Rush Springs; daughter, Annette Henager, of Rush Springs; brother, Raymond Green, of Haywood, Calif.; sister, Cuba Jean Coats, of Seminole; 5 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, Robert, Roy and Don; and 4 sisters, Geneva, Margie, Rheba and Leta Faye.
Funeral service will be at the First Baptist Church, in Sterling, on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Carlos Moreno officiating, under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home, in Walters. Burial will be on the family property.
Bob Gregg
Bob Gregg, long time St. Louis, Oklahoma resident passed away Friday, July 31, 2009 at his home at the age of 66.
Bob was born December 31, 1943 in Wanette to parents Roy Vernon and Thelma (Matthews) Gregg.
Bob attended school at Asher Public School system, served in the United States Army and a member of the First Baptist Church of St. Louis.
On May 5, 1962 Bob married Linda Sharber and together they owned and operated "Gregg’s Gas Station" there in St. Louis since the early 1970's.
Bob is survived by two sons: Robert Don and his wife Brandy Gregg of St. Louis and David Roy Gregg also of St. Louis; Brother, Jimmy Gregg of Asher; and sisters, Leota and her husband Doyle Rawls of Shawnee, Sue and husband Jack Thompson of Asher, and Fay and husband Jim McManus of Las Vegas, Nevada..
Bob is also survived by brother-in-law, Al Flynn of Mead, and three grandchildren Courtney, Ryan and Derrick Gregg.
Bob was preceded in death by: parents, Roy and Thelma Gregg, sister, Kay Flynn and sister-in-law Debbie Gregg.
Funeral Service for Bob is scheduled for 11 a.m., Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at First Baptist Church of St. Louis, with Rev. Glenn Peck officiating, burial will follow at Wanette Cemetery in Wanette.
Serving as casket bearers are: Robert Fellows, Mike Huff, Nobbie Lowden, Robert Lowden, Greg Beverage, Bruce Floyd and all nephews will serve as honorary bearers.
Linda Gregg
Linda Gregg, long time St. Louis, Oklahoma resident passed away Friday, July 31, 2009 at her home at the age of 62.
Linda was born January 25, 1947 in Konawa to parents Eddie Franklin and Rachel Nancy (Baker) Sharber.
Linda attended school at Vamoosa Public School system, and a member of the First Baptist Church of St. Louis, Oklahoma.
On May 5, 1962 Linda married Bob Gregg and together they owned and operated "Gregg’s Gas Station" there in St. Louis since the early 1970's.
Linda also worked at the United States Postal Services in Earlsboro, Oklahoma and the Daily Oklahoman.
Linda is survived by two sons: Robert Don and his wife Brandy Gregg of St. Louis and David Roy Gregg also of St. Louis, Oklahoma.
Sister, Donna and her husband Pete Stanley of Seminole, Oklahoma and three grandchildren Courtney, Ryan and Derrick Gregg.
Linda was preceded in death by: parents, Ed and Rachel Sharber; brothers, Jack, Joe Ed, Billy Don Sharber; sister, Mozeline Berry and Maxine Pamplin.
Funeral Service for Linda is scheduled for 11 a.m., Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at First Baptist Church of St. Louis, Oklahoma with Rev. Glenn Peck officiating, burial will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery, Vamoosa, Oklahoma.
Serving as casket bearers are: Randy Stevens, Bill Sullivan, Steven Nail, Harold Brewer, C.L. Wise and Jack Oblander.
All nephews will serve as Honorary Bearers.
Joe Griffith
Joe Francis Griffith passed away Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, at Integris Baptist Medical Center, in Seminole, at the age of 73.
He was born Oct. 26, 1935, in Oklahoma City, to George Griffith and Margurite (Collins) Griffith.
He worked for Meadow Gold Dairy, Borden Dairy, B.J. Hughes and owned and operated Seminole Quick Stop before retiring. He served in the National Guard during 1956.
He married Phyllis Kay (Rogers) Wise Griffith on Oct. 10, 2000,
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis, of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Gloria and David Guthrie, Brenda and Phillip Harris and Sharon and Danny Wood, all of Seminole; brother and sister-in-law, Russell and Oralee Griffith, of Eufaula; nineteen grandchildren; and twenty-one great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Thelma Griffith; son, Jerry Beaird; daughter, Jeannette Bland; two brothers, Tom and George Griffith; and one sister, Wilma Larkins.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009, at the Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Pastor Herman Searcy officiating.
Interment will follow at Little Cemetery, in Little.
Pallbearers will be Danny Wood, David Guthrie, Phillip Harris, Josh Carpitcher, Troy Pack, and Scott Hanks.
Honorary Bearers will be Harvey Young, Lynn Floyd, Tim Walker, Larry Hale, Leslie Hale and Jason Dorrough.

Sheila Griggs
Sheila Ann "Baker" Griggs went to meet her Lord on Feb. 14, 2009. She was born on Aug. 9, 1963 in Bartlesville, to Henry and Doris Ann (Bell) Baker. She married Ray Griggs and made her home in Bartlesville for 25 years. She lived the last two years in Seminole, Oklahoma.
She attended Bartlesville Schools and graduated from Sooner High School. She was an avid photographer, and a member of the Corvette Club in Tulsa. She recently worked for Americontact, in Seminole. Before moving to Seminole she worked for Camera American and Arvest Bank, in Bartlesville.
She is survived by her parents, Henry and Doris Ann Baker, of Waurika; one sister Shelli Menshew and her husband Danny Minshew, of Brownwood, Texas; two nephews, Shawn Flatford and Jason Murray, both of Waurika; one great nephew, Casey Flatford, of Waurika; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends also survived Sheila.
Her grandparents Paul and Bertie Baker and Fairy and Medreath Bell preceded her in death.
Services are planned for 2 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009, at the First Baptist Church, in Seminole with burial in Oakwood Cemetery, in Wewoka, with Rev. John Newland officiating.
Casket bearers will be Robert Moon, Mike Moon, Chris Moon, Justin Lankford, Billy Pike, and Dustin Parimore. Gary Tolson, Terry Brown will be an honorary bearer.
The family will meet at noon on Wednesday at the First Baptist Church, in Seminole for Lunch. The church is located at 420 Reid Street, in Seminole.
Jack Guinn
Jack James Guinn, longtime resident of Maud, Oklahoma, passed from this life on Aug. 18, 2009 at the age of 78 years old. He was born Nov. 4, 1930, at Ray City south of Maud, to parents James Wiley Guinn and Ethel Gracie (Mitchell) Guinn.
Jack graduated from Maud High School in 1948. Following his graduation Jack served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. Jack also attended Seminole State College for two years. On Nov. 28, 1954 he married the love of his life Bille Joan Ledbetter, in Carr City, Oklahoma near Maud. The couple moved to Corpus Christi, Texas and started a family. They had two sons Billy Jack and Kevin. They were married for 15 years before Joan became ill and passed away at the age of 32. Following Joan’s death Jack and the boys returned to Maud in July of 1972.
Jack worked for Big Chief Drilling Co., Sun Tide Refinery and then Sun Oil Company for 33 years until he retired on May 1, 1989. He then went to work for Barton Wood Co. and later worked for Blue Star Petroleum. Jack continued to work until he was 75 years old. Even though Jack was officially retired he managed to keep busy on the farm where he and Kevin worked in their hay fields. Jack was affiliated with Trinity Baptist Church, in Maud.
Jack was always the "Life of the Party, " he would light up any room he entered with his infectious smile and laugh. He will always be remembered for his kindness, quick wit and good-natured ribbing.
Jack leaves to cherish his memory his two sons, Kevin Guinn, of Maud, Oklahoma, B.J. Guinn and his wife Cindy, of Shawnee, Oklahoma, one brother and sister-in-law, Eugene "Gene" and Mary Mae Guinn, of Maud; four grandchildren Jarrett Guinn and his wife Ashley, of Norman, Oklahoma, Jessica (Guinn) Novotny and her husband Dave, of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Beau Guinn, of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Megan (Guinn) Williams and her husband Josh, of Tecumseh, Oklahoma; three great-grandchildren, Drew Guinn, Asher Guinn and Jett Novotny; Jack is also survived by a host of other dear family and loving friends.
Jack is preceded in death by his parent s James Wiley and Ethel Gracie Guinn and his beloved wife Bille Joan (Ledbetter) Guinn.
Cremation services are under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home in Maud, Oklahoma.
The family plans a private service as per Jack’s wishes.

Cynthia Gunter
Cynthia Anna Gunter, 92, longtime Seminole resident died, Sunday, June 21, 2009 at Pioneer Nursing Home, in Seminole, Oklahoma. Mrs. Gunter was born August 17, 1916 in Pope County, Arkansas, to Henry and Hattie (Payne) Harris.
Mrs. Gunter moved to Earlsboro with her family in November of 1938 and later to Seminole where she lived and raised her three sons. Mrs. Gunter was employed at Seminole Municipal Hospital for over 28 years as a nurse’s aide. She was also a longtime member of the First Church of God, in Seminole.
Her husband, Virgil Gunter in 1946, preceded her in death.
Three sons and a daughter-in-law, Herb and Liz Gunter of Seminole, Herman Gunter and Lester Gunter, both of Seminole, survive her; as well as two brothers, George Harris, of Columbia, Louisiana and Fay Harris of Woodward, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Sonia and Tom Scott, of Seminole, Oklahoma and Carrie and Kyle Nault, of Deer Park, Texas; four great-grandchildren, Colby and Katie Scott, of Seminole, Oklahoma and Kyla and P.T. Nault, of Deer Park, Texas; and several nieces and nephews also survive her.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, June 25, 2009 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel, Seminole, Oklahoma. With Rev. Tom Newell officiating. Burial will take place at Little Cemetery, Seminole County, Oklahoma
Derrel Gurley
Derrel Gene Gurley was born on Christmas day, 1931 in Seminole, to Edgar and Frances Gurley.
He grew up in Oklahoma and north Texas where he graduated from Holiday High School. Derrel earned a bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering from Texas Tech in 1954.
With his diploma in hand, he went to work pulling weeds in the flower garden of the District Office. He enjoyed his 28 years at Dowell as he moved around the oil patch, living in Oklahoma, Louisiana, and finally retiring in Houston, Texas.
He made many lifelong friends along the way. In partnership with some of these friends, he holds numerous patents in the oil service industry. After retiring from Dowell in Houston, Texas he worked for various oil and oil service companies for another 20 years.
Derrel was a devoted father and grandfather, freely passing along life lessons. He was a member of Memorial UMC in Houston, Texas. He loved fishing with his oilfield buddies all over North America.
In retirement, he found many new friends at University Place senior living center and missed them dearly when he moved to Ft. Worth, Texas. He died at a nursing home of Parkinson’s Disease.
Preceding him in death are his parents; brother, Donald; and his first wife, Miriam.
He is survived by his son, D. Gene Gurley, Jr. and wife, Ann, of Alvarado, Texas; daughter, Melissa Martin and husband Walter, of Calgary, Canada; wife, Michele, of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Julie, Robert, Gina, Jennifer, Will; and great-grandchild, Hayden.
A memorial service will be conducted on Monday, Feb. 2, 2009 at 4 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, of Alvarado, Texas. Internment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, in Seminole, on Tuesday, Jan. 3, at 1 p.m.
Eugene Gustin
Mr. Eugene "Gene" Edward Gustin, age 82, of Waxhaw, N.C. passed away on Friday, Feb. 13, at Presbyterian Hospital, in Matthews, N.C.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 1 - 2 p.m. with services in celebration of his life beginning at 2 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, Weddington Chapel, 3700 Forest Lawn Drive, Matthews, N.C. 28104 with Pastor Roderick Meredith officiating. Entombment will follow the service in the Sylvan Abbey Mausoleum at Forest Lawn East Cemetery.
Mr. Gustin was born Jan. 17, 1927 in Pittsburgh, Kan., son of the late Perry and Beulah Gustin. His grandson, Michael Brent Ray also preceded him in passing.
Gene had a long lasting career as a VP in the Offshore Oil Drilling Industry where his supervisors call him the "Pro of the Pro's". He was a dedicated family man, as he always made sure his family never went without. He was a hard worker, loved socializing and was the type of man that never met a stranger.
He was also very witty and had a great sense of humor. Gene was a dedicated member of the Living Church of God where the members loved him and thought of him as family.
Survivors include his beloved wife and best friend, Gigi Gustin, of Waxhaw, N.C.; children, Michele Ray, Michael Gustin, and Dana Cox; grandchildren, Krysti Terrell, Chirs Cox, Daniel Cox, Jaime Reynolds, Sean Gustin and Patrick Gustin; great-grandchildren, Emily, Bailey, Shelby and Brenly Terrell, Tyler, Katey, Trenton, Laney and Colby Cox, Gracie and Ellie Reynolds, Hannah Gene Gustin and Ella Campbell Gustin.
Arrangements for the family are in the care of Heritage Funeral Home, Weddington Chapel.
