Rena Evelyn Archer died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2012 in Tulsa at the age of 86.
She was born July 25, 1926 in Gans, Oklahoma to Elmer and Mable (Israel) Cooper.
She attended Gans Public School and later married William (Leroy) Archer on Feb. 15, 1944 in Oklahoma City. They made their home in Wewoka.
Rena was a homemaker.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughters, Linda Brown and Charlene Roberts; brother, J.B. Cooper and sister, Reba Livesay and a grandson, Jerry Moseley.
She is survived by her children, Peggy Coyle of Wewoka, and Neva Weller of Newalla, eleven grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday Aug. 31, 2012 at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Schoolton Cemetery in Cromwell.
Dwight Argo
Dwight B. Argo was born Dec. 5, 1946 in Wewoka.
He went to be with the Lord on Sept. 5, 2012.
First and foremost, Dwight was a believer in Christ, a patriot, and a family man.
He attended school in Wewoka and graduated in 1965.
He marred Sheila Edwards on April 12, 1969 in Holdenville. They were married for 43 years.
At the age of 15, Dwight began as a sleeper at the Wewoka Fire Department and worked his way though the ranks to Fire Chief. He was also on EMT, and served 32 years with the Wewoka Fire Dept.
Dwight was a civic leader and served the City of Wewoka in many capacities.
In the years past, he was a City Councilman, Building inspector, Acting City Manager, Member of the Park Board and a Civil Defense Volunteer.
He served 12 years in the Oklahoma National Guard.
He was the type of person to help anyone in need and was the first to do anything that was needed.
Dwight was very creative and could build or fix anything, especially with Charlie's help.
He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed the outdoors, all animals, and loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Dwight had the most wonderful group of friends who never failed to be with him throughout his illness. The friends he made growing up stayed close to him throughout his life.
He was greatly loved by all his family and will be missed beyond words.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Alta and Buford Argo; siblings, Dallas Argo, Rita Argo, Cecil Argo, Pat Whitehead, Nema Davis, Rowena Laymon; and a granddaughter, Alexandria Crockett.
Dwight is survived by his wife, Sheila of the home; daughter, Sunni Crockett and husband Andy; granddaughters, Kirstyn of Oklahoma City, Ashtyn Mayer and husband Kendall of Lafayette, LA; sister, Glenda Russo of Denver, CO; sister-in-law, Jonne Witt and husband Scott of Shawnee; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7, 2012 at First Baptist Church Wewoka with Pastor Jay Badry officiating, and burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be John Grimes, Mike Billingsley, Ronald Sosbee, Donald Sosbee, Paul Hererra, Hershell O'Donnell, Charles Chance, and Larry Sawyer.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Kelly, Rick Ayers, John Norman, Alvin Ward, John Bellmeyer, Roger Little, and Mickey Crittenden.
Arrangements are by Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.
Diana Armstrong
Diana Kay Armstrong, 68, longtime Seminole resident died Sunday, Jan 22, 2012 in Seminole, Oklahoma.
Diana was born on Dec 7, 1943 to Bill and Bernice (Sears) Johnson in Richmond, California.
Diana was an L.P.N. nurse and she had worked for Seminole Municipal Hospital, Dr. Brendan O’Keffee, M.D. and several area nursing homes before retiring in December of 2011.
Diana was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church in Shawnee, where she enjoyed making trips with the Singles Group going to Branson, Nashville and taking cruises.
Her love was her children and grandchildren.
She also enjoyed crocheting.
Diana married Vernon Newton Armstrong, Sr. on April 2, 1965 in Midland, Texas.
They moved to Seminole in 1967 to raise their three children. He preceded her in death on Sept 19, 2005.
Diana is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law; Bryan and Angela Armstrong and David and Christy Armstrong of Seminole, and a daughter and son-in-law Susan and William Adcock, Jr. of Seminole, one sister MaryLynn Harmon of Texas and eight grandchildren; Heather Adcock, Megan Adcock, Billy Adcock, Wyatt Armstrong, Luke Armstrong, Sarah Armstrong, Jennifer Armstrong, Joshua Armstrong. And a close friend Robert Stewart of Wewoka.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Vernon, a sister Janie Johnson and a brother Joe Dell Johnson.
Funeral services are planned for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday Jan 25, 2012 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Allen Wood and Bill Adcock will officiate at the services with burial at Little Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, Jan 24, 2012 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.

Joan Artcliff
Joan (Steiner) Artcliff died Monday, Nov. 5, 2012 at the age of 62.
She was born on June 7, 1950 in Saginaw, Michigan to Mary Emma (Dunlap) Steiner and James F. Steiner.
She grew up in the Saginaw, Bridgeport area and Graduated from Bridgeport High School.
She married Warren E. "Butch" Artcliff, Sr. on Jan. 17, 1970.
She is survived by her husband; one son, Warren E. Artcliff, Jr.; one daughter, Cindylou Allison; four granddaughters; two great granddaughters; two sisters, Shirley Lockhart of Birchrun, Michigan, (Joan’s twin sister) Joann Herzberg of Hale Michigan.
She is preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Pat Midcalf; one daughter, Theresa Ann Artcliff and a nephew, Mickey Sigman.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, Nov. 9, 2012 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole. Rev. Carl Whitfield will officiate the service.
Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, located 2 miles east of Seminole on Hwy 270.
Casket bearers will be Michael Gordon, Robert Henderson, Zach Wilson, Terry Bowen, Waylon Myers and William Allison.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
Sandra Atkinson
Sandra Jean (Irby) Atkinson, age 74 and a resident of Konawa died at her home on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Cremation is under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa.
She was born Sept. 3, 1937 in Konawa to Delmar Irby and Clio (Bowerman) Irby.
She was a graduate of Konawa High School and married Leonard C. Atkinson.
She worked as a seamstress for a clothing industry in Konawa.
She is survived by one son, Richard Dale Byrd of Fairview, Oklahoma; one daughter, Barbara Jean Lee of Oklahoma City; two brothers, David Irby of Blanchard and Jesse Irby of Oklahoma City; three sisters, Lynda McCraw of Konawa, Beverly Towler of Rall, Texas, and Patricia McGuire of Wewoka; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Delmar and Clio Irby; her husband, Leonard Atkinson; one brother, D. G. Irby and two sisters, Betty Myatt and Norma Tew.
William Atwell Jr.
Services for William O'Bannon Atwell Jr., age 90 are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2012 at Wewoka Presbyterian Church with Jim Coone officiating and burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
He was born in Garber, Oklahoma on June 29, 1922 to the late William O'Bannon Atwell and Ethel Mildred (Hawks) Atwell.
He received his education in Okemah, OK and graduated in 1940.
While in school he enjoyed playing football.
William later played semi-pro baseball in the position of catcher.
He served his country in the United States Navy during WWII.
In 1956 he moved to Wewoka where he worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
On Aug. 3, 1952, he married Fredia Lee Saak in Stroud and to this marriage three children were born.
Bill worked for the State of Oklahoma from 1958 to 1988 as Bridge Inspector.
He loved to cook and was well known for his world famous fudge and sugar cookies.
He and Freida owned and operated the E-Z Out Convenience Store Wewoka from 1980 to 1990.
He was a member and elder of Wewoka Presbyterian Church.
Preceding Bill in death are his parents, daughter Raellen Aldridge, grandson Donnie Sipes.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years Fredia of the home; daughters, Cindy Sipes and Darlene Potter all of Wewoka; one sister, June Allford of Holdenville; one brother, Don Atwell of Meeker; grandchildren, Scott Aldridge, Mathew Aldridge, Amanda Childers, Laura Potter, and William Potter; six great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Arrangements are by Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.
Erma Austin
Erma Kathaleen "Kitty" Austin, 82 year-old Ardmore resident and former Seminole resident died Sunday, May 13, 2012 at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City.
She was born Nov. 6, 1929 in Morrisville, Missouri to Florus Emory and Zula Mae (Erwin) Phillips.
She worked for the Continental Baking Company "Wonder Bread" in McAlester for 19 years before retiring in 1978.
She married Lee Roy Austin on Aug. 13, 1977 in Seminole.
She is survived by two daughters, Cherry Tibbs and Sena Wood all of Ardmore; one sister, Mae Davis of SeaTac, Washington; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lee Roy; one daughter, Cindy Wooley; one great-grandson, Daylan McSwain; one brother, Charley and two sisters, Nancy and Jackie.
Graveside services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole. Rev. Carl Whitfield will officiate the service.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
