Mamie Marie Barham Baker entered Heaven's gates at 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012.
She was born Mamie Marie Barham in Comanche, Oklahoma.
She went by Marie or Sister Baker, but to nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, she was "Ma."
Marie was the fourth daughter of John Jackson and Nancy Pearl Emily (Dunn) Barham. She had four sisters and two brothers.
On a Sunday morning in October of 1938, she married her beloved husband, Harold Jeff Baker.
They were married right after Sunday School class and then attended the regular Sunday morning service.
Her husband preceded her in death on April 20, 1998.
She was also preceded in death by daughter, Haroline Baker on Oct. 2, 1940; her parents; sisters, Oleta, Johnnie, Ruth and Faye and her brother, Z.T. Barham.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Harold Jeff Baker of Gilmore, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Juana and Don Aylor of Prague; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Donald Barham of Oregon and many cousins, nephews, nieces, and in-laws
Most importantly, she is survived by the many children she led to Christ through her ministry.
She was a pastor's wife. A job she cherished. She helped her husband through evangelism. They held many revivals together.
She was a Sunday school teacher, children's church leader, Missionette leader, a Women's Ministries leader, a song leader, and a church camp leader.
The most fun a child could have was attending Vacation Bible School with the Bakers.
They loved children and they loved it when a child accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
"This little light of mine, I'm going to let it shine."
The Baker family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, Aug. 15, 2012, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Parks Brothers Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012 at 10:00 a.m., at the Assembly of God Church in Prague with Rev. Kevin Wehrli and Rev. David Baker officiating.
Interment will be at 3:30 p.m. at Dixie Cemetery in Loco, Oklahoma.
Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
L.M. Barkhimer
Funeral service for long time Wewoka resident L.M. Barkhimer are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 15, at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dan Factor officiating and interment to follow at Tate Mountain Cemetery south of Wewoka.
L.M., a long time resident of Seminole County went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 9. He went peacefully at his home in Wewoka with family by his side at the age of 93 years.
Born November 27, 1918 in Peel, Arkansas to D.F and Ethel (Merriman) Barkhimer. He leaves behind three children: Daughter Sue Smith, son Steve Barkhimer and wife Karen of Wewoka, and daughter Linda Sadler and husband Mike of Beggs, ; twenty grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and many great-great grandchildren as well as two sisters Ella Norman and Zella Dansby of Wewoka.
Preceding him in death are his parents, two daughters Christine Barkhimer and Kathy Wade; one son Armon (Butch) Barkhimer, brother J.D. Barkhimer, a sister Stella Streater and granddaughter Sharra Lynn Calaway.
L.M. proudly served his county in the armed forces during WWll in the 79th Infantry. He fought in France, Germany, Belgium, and Austria. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and received a Purple Heart and the Bronze Star for valor.
Pall Bearers will be: Dale Smith, Max Smith, Keith Barkhimer, Scott Barkhimer, Matt Wade, Jason Sadler, and Justin Sadler.
Honorary Pall Bearers will be: Brett Wade, Johnny Smith, and VFW Post 1311.
Dorothy Beauford
Dorothy Pearl (Wren) Beauford, 79, longtime Seminole resident died Monday, Sept. 24, 2012 at her home in Seminole.
She was born May 1, 1933 in Las Vegas, Nevada to parents Thomas I. Wren and Pearl Jane (Tapper) Wren.
She graduated from High School in Las Vegas, Nevada and later married Derald Van Beauford on Sept. 20, 1949 in Shawnee.
She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Derald Beauford of the home; one son, Larry Beauford of Seminole; one daughter, Lynne Tanner of Oklahoma City; one sister, Nadine Gibson of Las Vegas, Nevada; four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Donald I. Wren, L.D. Wren and by one granddaughter, Ann Barksdale.
Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012 at Little Cemetery with her brother-in-law, Martin Beauford officiating the service.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
Joe Bell
Joe Paul Bell, 65, life long Seminole resident died, Saturday, Jan 28, 2012 at Integris Seminole Medical Center in Seminole.
Joe was born March 29, 1946 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Dick and Hazel Marie (Chitwood) Bell.
Joe was a graduate of Seminole High School.
Joe was an investor.
He is survived by two brothers Richard Bell and Bobby Bell of Norman.
His parents preceded him in death.
Funeral services are planned for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, Feb 1, 2012 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with entombment to follow at the Rose Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum in Tulsa.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
Cecil Bender
Cecil Joe Bender, age 79 of Shawnee passed away Thursday, June 21, 2012 at his home in Shawnee.
He was born May 27, 1933 in Seminole to Jonas and Effie (Lena) Bender.
Cecil worked for J&M Roofing for 37 years before retiring.
He enjoyed his ministry and pastor work.
He was a member of Wewoka Indian Baptist Church. and Ocese Band.
Cecil loved to spend time with his family and friends.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Preceding Cecil in death are his parents; brothers, Edmond, Lotmon Bender; sisters, Mary and Lillie Bender; wives, Georgia Bender, Vivian Bender; son, Jimmy Bender and daughters, Billie Jo and Theresa Bender.
Survivors include sons, Joseph and wife Jenny of the home, Leonard Kocher of Norman, Timmy Armstrong of the home, Sandy and Jason Asbill of Ardmore, Jimmy Armstrong of Tecumseh; grandchildren, Maecie Bender, Elijah Bender, Kiana Daniels, and Jaylen Daniels; a host of nieces, nephews, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, and special niece Stella.
Wake Service will be Sunday, June 24, 2012 at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home (6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.) with Rev. Jimsey Harjo officiating.
The Body will be taken to Sand Creek Eufaula at 4:00 p.m. Monday for an all night Wake at Sand Creek Eufaula Baptist Church at 7:30 p.m. with Rev. Houston Tiger officiating.
Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at Sand Creek Eufaula Baptist with Rev. Houston Tiger and Rev Thomas Little officiating and burial will follow at Bender Family Cemetery.

Michael Bender
Michael Wayne Bender, 59, longtime Seminole resident died Monday, Feb 6, 2012 at his home in Seminole.
Michael was born March 5, 1952 in Wewoka, to John Jesse and Virginia Merita (Duncan) Bender.
Michael moved to the Norman and Moore area for many years and attended and graduated from Norman High School and OSU Tech School.
Michael moved back to Seminole in 1983 from Moore.
He was a member of the Seminole Church of Christ and a member of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma.
Michael was employed at Seminole State College as a night housekeeping supervisor and had previously worked at Coates Roofing in Seminole and Sterling Graham Pest and Weed Control.
Michael was married to Roberta J. (Hickerson) Bender on Sept 3, 1982 in Oklahoma City.
Michael is survived by his wife Roberta of the home in Seminole, his father John Bender of Norman, son, Ryan Pierce and his wife Cara of Moore, daughters, Terri Smith and her husband James of Shawnee and Paula Mariott and her husband Paul of Seminole. He is also survived by a brother Steve Bender of San Antonio, Texas; three sisters, Susie Brady of Okemah, Shirley Howell and Betty Joe Craig both of Seminole, and eight grandchildren; Destinie Kiser, Tashiana Watts, Macava Smith, Princella Smith, William Pierce, Kaleb Pierce, Kaylee Pierce and Joshua Mariott.
His mother Merita Bender preceded Michael in death.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, Feb 9, 2012 at the Seminole Church of Christ at 4200 Hwy 99N in Seminole with Chris Stinnett officiating and Arpoika Daniels assisting. Burial will follow at the Bender Family Cemetery.
Casket Bearers will be Joshua Mariott, William and Kaleb Pierce, Arpoika Daniels, Brian Coates, David Duncan and Ted Hurt.
Honorary Bearers will be Jack Mattingly, Sr., Cecil Sullivan, Syd Morgan and Ted Jordan.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial donations be made to the Seminole Church of Christ to help the family with Michael’s medical expenses.

William Benn
William Crawford "Bill" Benn, 63 year-old longtime Seminole resident passed from this life Thursday, March 15, 2012 at his home in Seminole. He was born October 16, 1948 in Morenci, Arizona to parents Crawford Haskell Benn and Betty Marie (Hall) Benn.
He served in the United States Army where he served his Country proudly overseas in Vietnam earning the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal. He moved to Seminole 39 years ago from Bloomington, Indiana. On April 19, 1973 in Miami, Oklahoma Bill married his wife of 38 years Joyce Stanfill. He had served on the City Council for several years and he owned and operated J.B.’s Smoke Shop in Stroud, Oklahoma for several years.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 3:00 p.m., Sunday, March 18, 2012 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole with Rev. Tim Tate officiating. Interment will be Monday, March 19, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole with Military Honors.
Casket bearers will be: Joe Foutz, Branon Bowen, Gary Cordell, John Choate, Mike Snyder, Donnie Carter and Lee Cohn.
Honorary bearers will be: Dax Benn, Kylar Benn and Sean Benn.
Survivors include his wife Joyce Stanfill Benn of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Amber and Branon Bowen of Seminole, Oklahoma, Shevlyn and Joe Foutz of Seminole; three sons and daughter-in-law, Dax Benn of Seminole, Oklahoma, Kylar and Sabra Benn of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Sean Benn of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Sherweeta Benn of Seminole, Oklahoma; two sisters, Joan Riddle of Coweta, Oklahoma, Bette Kiefer, of San Antonio, Texas; six grandchildren, Peyton and Austin Bowen, Audree, Jolee, Brody Foutz and Kylie Crain all of Seminole, Oklahoma; and a host of other family and dear friends.
His parents, and one brother, Barry Benn, preceded Bill in death.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
