Daejah Ayers

Daejah Shiree Blanton Ayers, Seminole, Okla. resident passed away Friday, Nov. 29, 2013 at the Children’s Center in Bethany, Okla. at the age of three months.

Daejah was born Aug. 15, 2013 in Shawnee, Okla. to parents, Ray Charles Blanton and Joyce Elaine Ayers.

Daejah is survived by her parents, Ray Charles Blanton, and Joyce Elaine Ayers; three brothers, Ray Charles Blanton, Jr., Donell Ayers, and Brandon Ayers all of Seminole.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will take place at Noble Town Cemetery, Seminole County, Okla.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.

Nadene Aylor

Nadene Craig Aylor, 95, born Nadene Craig on Oct. 26, 1918, was third child of five children born to Henry Calendine Craig, Sr. and Emma Francis Mooney Craig.

She was raised and spent most of her life in Seminole County, Okla., spending a few years in Arizona and California.

She attended Prairie Valley School and was an active member of Twin Oaks Baptist Church.

Married to Julius Arnold Aylor, deceased, mother of Harold Duane Aylor deceased, and Virgil Craig Aylor, she is survived by her son, Virgil Aylor and grandson, Scott Allen Aylor.

Services will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013 at Little Cemetery, Seminole, Okla.

Funeral arrangements under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.

Melinda Azlin

Melinda Tucker Azlin, 68, of Grover, N.C., passed away March 3, 2013 at The Robin Johnson House, Dallas.

She was born June 29, 1944 in Wewoka, Okla., daughter of the late Clyde and Addie Cox Tucker.

A memorial service will be held 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at Eastside Baptist Church, 1284 E. Cherokee St., Blacksburg, S.C., officiated by Rev. Eric L. Sellers.

The family will receive friends following the service at the church.

Interment is private.

She is survived by daughters, Sheila Azlin Loman and her husband, Tommy, Shari Azlin Campbell and her husband, Jim; brothers, Herman Tucker and his wife, Pat, Clyde Tucker and his wife, Barbara; sister, Sharon Giles and her husband, Tom; grandchildren, Chelsey Loman, Katelyn Loman, Austin Loman, Amy Campbell, Samuel Campbell, a US Navy Rescue Swimmer Candidate, stationed in Pensacola, FL; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Tommy, Ernest and Gary Tucker.

Memorials may be made to the Gaston Hospice, for the Robin Johnson House, P.O. Box 3984, Gastonia, N.C. 28054.

Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium in Gastonia, N.C.

Nelda Bailey

Sept. 11, 1946 - June 11, 2013

Nelda A. Bailey, 66, Seminole resident died Tuesday, June 11, 2013 in Oklahoma City, Okla.

Nelda was born Sept. 11, 1946 in Seminole, Okla. to Evert and Lillian (Housdon) Anderson.

Nelda was a C.M.A. and retired from Seminole Estate Nursing Home in Seminole, after 17 years of service.

She grew up in the Maud, Okla. area and attended and graduated from Maud High School, where she played basketball and softball.

While in Maud she was named Roundup Queen at the Maud Rodeo.

She was a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed her grandchildren and loved watching their activities.

She loved being with her special friend Jeff Davis, going out to eat, helping him with farm work, bailing hay and working cattle.

She also attended the Church of Christ at Little.

Nelda is survived by her parents, Evert and Lillian Anderson of Konawa, Okla.; one son, Teddy Bailey of Mississippi; three daughters, Karrie Stapleton of Shawnee, Okla., Kristi Ginn and Mike Stapleton of Catoosa, Okla. and Lindsey and her husband Billy Mckee of Seminole, Okla.; a sister, Glenda Terry and her husband Jack of Konawa, Okla. and a niece, Tina Moon of Shawnee, Okla.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Eric and Cortney Powell of Prague, Okla., Keisha and Jason Wolf of Tecumseh, Okla., Alyssa Lindsay of Newcastle, Okla., Lakin and Dax Henley of Seminole, Okla., Tazz McKee of Seminole, Okla., Britni Ginn of Catoosa, Okla., Kenneth Hernandez, Jr. of Shawnee, Okla. and her great grandchildren, Lyric and Liberty Wolf of Tecumseh, Okla., Bryar Powell of Prague, Okla. and her special friend Jeff Davis of Seminole, Okla.

Nelda was preceded in death by nephew, Steven Moon who died 2013 and by a son-in-law, Rex Ginn in 2010.

Memorial services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 22, 2013 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Okla.

Rita Ballew

Rita Faye Ballew, 64, died in Holdenville on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013.

She was born to James Erwin McMullen and Roberta Doris Wyatt McMullen on Aug. 11, 1948 in Wewoka, Okla.

She graduated Moss High School in 1966 and attended business school.

In 1968 she married Danny Holt.

She owned and operated Gem Jewelers and was employed at the First National Bank for a number of years. For the past 25 years she was the office manager for Joe Mills Well Service Company in Seminole.

On July 7, 1990 Rita married Jack Ballew. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include Lisa Dawn Holt Burkett; three grandchildren; one brother, Danny McMullen and one sister, Janie James.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Linwood Ballew and one daughter Ami Shaun Holt Caudill.

Funeral services will be held the Holdenville First Baptist Church on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013 at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease Foundation at Helpline 1.800.659.1991.

Betty Bancroft

Betty L. Bancroft, 83, died Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at OHSU Hospital in Portland, Ore. after a prolonged illness.

She was born on Aug. 10, 1929, to Bud and Eula Mae Mills.

She grew up and lived in and around Seminole before moving to Southern California with her family in 1973. Even though she lived in California the majority of her adult life, she always considered herself an "Okie" and Seminole her home.

Betty’s passion in life was her husband, Leland and her son, Russ.

Her precious daughter, Janet, preceded her in death.

Betty adored her granddaughter, Jordan and loved seeing her grow up and perform in plays and choir.

The family would like to express their special thanks and appreciation to the family and friends who went above and beyond over the years in both Portland and Ventura! Your love and support in all its forms made an incredibly difficult situation workable and bearable.

Graveside services for Betty will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 18, 2013 at the Little Cemetery in Seminole, Okla. Don Gill will officiate at the service.

Wanda Baresel

Wanda Lean Baresel, age 90, peacefully completed her earthly pilgrimage at home surrounded by her family and entered the presence of God for eternity on Aug. 28, 2013.

Wanda was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.

She was born Sept. 30, 1922 to Joseph and Mary (Doolen) Rodgers in Fayetteville, Ark.

She graduated from Central State Teachers College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education and taught home economics for 17 years at Western Oaks Junior High School before retiring in 1985.

Since retiring, she has continued to serve her community as an active member of Putnam City Baptist Church where she was the Director of the Peacemakers Sunday school class for more than two decades and participated in mission projects such as the church charitable pantry and the hospital visitation project where she helped make and deliver thousands of hand crafted sterile flowers to patients in cancer and burn wards.

Wanda also worked with the Baptist Homes for Children mission, concentrating primarily on the children's style shows, where she initiated the participation of the Putnam City Baptist Church into the mission and their fund raising efforts while also assisting during the shows themselves.

She also participated in the Samaritan's Purse "Operation Christmas Child" project as long as her health permitted her to wrap and stuff shoe boxes with items she and others donated.

Wanda was preceded into heaven by her parents and two brothers, Joe and Jim Rodgers.

She is survived by son, Larry and wife Delphina of Oklahoma City; and son, Roger and wife, Judith of Edmond; sisters-in-law, Ella Walker of Lansing, Mich., Esther Stanley of Pullman, Wash., Doris Lombardi of Peculiar, Mo., Neva Rodgers of Konawa, Okla., and Linda Rodgers of Henderson, Nevada; six grandchildren, Robyn, Deborah, "Peanut", Paul, Mary, and Kyle; and 10 great-grandchildren, Lauren, Justin, Tyler, Ivy, Bryce, Luca, Milla, Zaine, Finn and Clara; and three great-great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Keelee and Abbey.

No woman hath a greater love for her husband, family and community than Wanda. And no woman was more loved and respected by her husband, family and friends.

The family would like to especially thank Dr. Karen Ross and Dolores Hoogendoorn, RN for the loving care which they provided Wanda.

There will be a viewing from 5-7pm on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013 at Mercer-Adams Funeral Home in Bethany Okla. with the service on Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013 at 10am in the Chapel at Mercer-Adams.

Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery beside her beloved husband of 62 years.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in her name to the debt service retirement fund at Putnam City Baptist Church or the Baptist Children’s Home Style Show.

Norma Barnes

Funeral services for Norma Fay Barnes will be held Monday, Jan. 14, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Okemah. Interment will follow at the Schoolton Cemetery in Seminole County.

She was born Dec. 10, 1933 in Kendrick, Okla. to Willie and Bertha (Wallis) Condict.

She died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013 at her home in Cromwell at the age of 79.

She had been a longtime resident of the Schoolton area and was a graduate of Excelsior School.

She and Eldridge Barnes were married Dec. 19, 1950 in Okemah; he preceded her in death.

She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Teresa Kay Hassell and Sharon Lynn Barnes; two sisters, Lola McElroy and Ella Starr; and three brothers, Cecil Carrol Condict, Marvin Condict and Bill Condict.

Survivors include two brothers, Ray Condict of Okemah and Wendell Condict of Moore; three sisters, Rose Head of Moore, Linda Groves of Cromwell and Wilma Scott of Houston, Tex.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Serving as active pallbearers will be her nephews.

Honorary bearers will be her nieces.

Services will be under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Okemah with Bro. Charles Jones officiating.
