Nan Cave

Nan Yvonne Cave, 82, Seminole resident died, Monday, Oct. 7, 2013 in Oklahoma City.

She was born Sept. 6, 1931 in Decatur, Ark. to Lester and Eula (Randolph) Corbin.

She attended Decatur High School and was the Valedictorian of her graduating class in 1948.

She became a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and made her career as a nurse working in Arizona, Texas, and Missouri until retirement.

She is survived by her son, Ed Cave of Seminole; daughter, Vickie Bateman of Seminole; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Gerald Corbin of Decatur, Stanley Corbin of Tucson, Ariz.; four sisters, Iris Mayor of Lee’s Summitt, Mo., Wanda Bunch of Sun City, Ariz., Peggy Sweetland of Wichita, Kan., Kathy Corbin of Edgar Springs, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward Flenoy Cave; a grandson, Christopher Michael Taylor; and her brother, Thurman Corbin.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday Oct. 11, 2013 at Cummings Cemetery in Maud with Rev. Doyle O. Long officiating.

There will be a visitation for the family to receive friends on Thursday evening from 5 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.

Cornelius Cedartree

Cornelius Gene Cedartree, Sr., Seminole county resident died Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at Ada, Okla at the age of 60.

He was born Feb. 24, 1953 in Seminole, Okla. to parents, Edward Cedartree and Katherine (Yarbough) Gibson Cedartree.

He served in the United States Army and after his enlistment he worked in construction as a welder.

He is survived by his mother, Katherine Gibson of Konawa, Okla.; two sons, Cornelius Cedartree, Jr. of Seminole, Okla., Josh Cedartree of Wewoka, Okla.; six brothers, Edward Cedartree, Jr. of Tulsa, Okla., Glenn Gibson of Tecumseh, Okla., Colt Gibson of Seminole, Okla., Tommy Gibson, Anthony Gibson and Scott Gibson all of Konawa, Okla.; three sisters, Ellen Ward of Prague, Okla., Marsha Gibson and Tonette George both of Konawa, Okla. and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father; one son, Baby Boy Cedartree; two sisters, Toni Lynn Gibson and Bridget Ellis.

A wake service will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, May 5, 2013 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 6, 2013 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Okla. with Pastor Ed George officiating. Burial will take place at Vamoosa Cemetery, Seminole County, Okla.

Serving as casket bearers are Edward Cedartree, Jr., Glenn Gibson, Tommy Gibson, Anthony Gibson, Scott Gibson, Frank Ward and Norman Island, Jr.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.

Charles Chance

Charles L. Chance, a long time Wewoka resident, died in the Holdenville General Hospital on Friday, May 10, 2013.

Charlie was born in Konawa, Okla. Oct. 11, 1932 to the late Oliver L. and L.D. (Durington) Chance.

He graduated from Wewoka High School and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict era.

Charlie worked for Sebastian Radio Shop for 22 years, the City of Wewoka as the Waste Water Treatment Plant Supervisor and Security State Bank. He was a former member of Wewoka Fire Department.

No services are planned at this time.

Arrangements are by Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

Kevon Chandler Jr.

Wewoka resident Kevon James "June Bug" Chandler, Jr. passed away Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013 at the age of 48 years.

He was born Sept. 2, 1965 in Wewoka, Okla. to Kevon Chandler Sr. and the late Betty Barkus Chandler.

Kevon was a graduate of Wewoka High School.

He was a member of St Joseph Missionary Baptist Church.

He enjoyed basketball, football, playing cards and dominos and spending time with his family and friends.

Preceding Kevon in death is his mother, Betty; grandmothers, Viola Barkus and Aurelia Chandler.

Survivors include his father, Kevon Chandler Sr.; children, Kevontae' Chandler of Wewoka, Seth Lozier of Seminole, Taneiqua Harris of Oklahoma City, Candice Shaw of Wewoka, and Breanna Griffis of Lawton, brothers and sisters, Robbin Williamson, Viola Perry, Gregory Chandler, Melanie Chandler, Kerwin Cooper, Quincy Chandler and James Toles; eight grandchildren; his fiancé, Sheila Ross; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013 at First United Methodist Church Wewoka, with Rev Gaylen Bert, officiating and burial to follow at Westwood Cemetery.

Arrangements are by Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

Justin Chastain

Justin C. Chastain, 66, passed away Friday, July 12, 2013.

He was born in Oklahoma City, Okla. to Justin and Mary Jean Chastain.

He proudly served in the Armed Forces (Navy) for four years then spent his working years in Oklahoma City.

He retired to Seminole in 1988.

He was preceded in death by brother, Robert Chastain; sister, Kathie Chastain; and both parents.

He is survived by brother, Kelly Chastain and Kelly’s wife Lyn Chastain; also his nephew, Blaine Dickerson of Seminole, as well as many loving aunts and cousins.

He was deeply loved and will be missed.

Dovie Cheatwood

Dovie Armetia Cheatwood, longtime Maud resident died Monday, Oct. 28, 2013 at her home at the age of 85.

She was born Dec. 17, 1927 in Oklahoma City to Jessie Newton Cooley and Marie Alice (Carr) Cooley.

She married Garlin Lee Cheatwood on July 20, 1950 in Lexington, Okla.

She was a homemaker.

She is survived by two sons, Garlin Dale Cheatwood of Edmond, Okla., Kenneth Lee Cheatwood of Shawnee, Okla.; four daughters, Mary Lavonne Goodgion of Maud, Dorothy Armetia Wallace of Maud, Beverly Gayle Sanford of Seminole and Janna Carol Calvert of Maud; one sister, Valeria Ivie of Quinton, Tex.; 17 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Mary Cooley; husband, Garlin; one daughter, Belinda Cheatwood; three sisters, Elsie, Josaphine and Mary Lou and one brother, Billy Cheatwood.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, 2013 at the Trinity Baptist Church of Maud with Rev. Rusty McMullen officiating. Burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery near Maud in Pottawatomie County.

Funeral services are under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home in Maud.

Dovie Cheatwood

Dovie Armetia Cheatwood, longtime Maud, Okla. resident passed away Monday Oct. 28, 2013 at her home in Maud at the age of 85.

Dovie was born on Dec. 17, 1927 in Oklahoma City, Okla. to parents Jessie Newton Cooley and Mary Alice (Carr) Cooley.

Dovie married Garlin Lee Cheatwood on July 20, 1950 in Lexington, Okla. Garlin passed away Sept. 30, 2006.

Dovie was a homemaker and a member of the Trinity Baptist Church of Maud.

Danai Chetpatananont

Danai Chetpatananont, died Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013 in Pittsburg, Pa. at the age of 36.

He was born Feb. 19, 1976 in Seminole, Okla. to Vinai Chetpatananont and Phyllis Ann (Warledo) Chetpatananont.

He was a member of Tusekia Harjo band.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Phyllis Ann Warledo Chetpatanaont.

Survivors include his father, Vinai Chetpatananont of Oklahoma City, Okla.; son, Dezmon S. Chetpatananont; brothers, Greg Chetpatananont, Ardmore, Okla., Vinai Chetpatananont Jr. of Texas, and Bryan Coke of Tulsa, Okla.

Pallbearers are Jose Varlea, J.R. Warleo, Jerimiah Warledo, Marty Warledo, Steve McGirt, and Fous Ahaisse.

Honorary pallbearers will be Greg Chetpatanaont, Bryan Coker, and Vinai Chetpatananont.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013 at Hitichitee Methodist Church, Seminole with Rev. Rick Deere officiating and burial will follow at Hitichitee Church Cemetery.

The body was taken to the Church Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. for a 7:00 p.m. Wake service.

Arrangements are by Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

Edith Choat

Edith Icelene (Boren) Choat, longtime former Maud resident, died Saturday, March 2, 2013 at McLoud Nursing Center in McLoud, Okla at the age of 95.

She was born July 17, 1917 near Wolf, Okla. to Claude Melton Boren and Martha Ellen (Stovall) Boren.

She married Forrest Lee Choat on June 3, 1933 in Maud, Okla. He preceded her in death on Dec. 3, 1998.

She worked in the cafeteria at Ada Public Schools for several years.

Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Choat of Bartlesville. Okla. and A.L. Choat of Harrah, Okla.; one brother, J.C. Boren of Moore, Okla.; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; an infant son; six brothers, Fred, Haskell, Robert, Otis, L.C. and Jack Boren and one sister, Helen Turner.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at 11:00 am at Cummings Cemetery in Maud with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating.

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 4, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. – 7:00 pm at Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home in Maud.

Services are under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home, Maud.
