Stephen Clinkenbeard

Stephen Emerson "Stevie" Clinkenbeard died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2013 in Shawnee after a long illness.

He was born Aug. 4, 1995 in Oklahoma City to William Clinkenbeard and Ann Marie Shepherd Clinkenbeard.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Ann Marie; grandparents, Paul and Marie Shepherd; and an uncle, Steve Shepherd.

Survivors include his father, William "Billy" Clinkenbeard of Seminole; grandparents, Paula and Coy Clinkenbeard of Seminole; and one brother, Joshua Clay Clinkenbeard of Seminole.

Pallbearers will be Antonio Sambrano, Jeff Smith, Shawn West, Brian Harjo, Jermiah Johnson and Jeremy Hinton.

Honorary pallbearers are Johnny Meeks, Dalton Roberson, Dylan Roberson, Micah Smith, Dustin Davidson, DeLayne Roberson, and Joshua Clinkenbeard.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16, 2013 at Lord's Community Church, Seminole with Pastor Jim Moreland officiating and Nita Moreland assisting. Burial will be at Little Cemetery.

Arrangements are by Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

Hattie M. Coker Cole

Hattie M. Coker Cole, lifetime resident of rural Pleasant Grove School community southwest of Seminole passed away Feb. 18, 2013 at her home.

She was born May 2, 1930 in Seminole, Okla. to Richmond W. and Emma Sewell Coker.

Her late grandfather, Dave Coker, was one of the Seminole Nation Light Horsemen in Indian Territory.

She was a member of the Seminole Nation Ocese Band and the Deer Clan.

She was baptized on June 23, 1959 at the First Indian Presbyterian Church of Wewoka where she served as a Treasurer and an Elder.

She is survived by her children, Ella M. and Al Colman of Seminole; Gary and Tojunia Cole of Oklahoma City; Richard Cole and Ronnie Cole of the home.

Her eight grandchildren include Christina Cole of Oklahoma City; Chad Cole and Ashley Cole of Konawa; Trevor Cole and his wife Tru of Chandler; Chase Cole of Wagoner; Cassandra Cole, U. S. Navy, presently stationed at Meridian, Miss.; and Lainey Cole and Casey Cole of Seminole.

Great-grandsons include Michael G. Cole of Oklahoma City; Austin Satepauhoodle of Seminole; and, Greyson Long of Holdenville.

Her step-daughter Beverly and husband Joe Manley of McLoud; Step-grandsons Terrance Manley of McLoud and Joe J. Manley of Ada and five great-grandchildren.

She graduated from the Carr City Elementary School, completed 10th – 11th grade at Bowlegs High School and graduated from Pleasant Grove High School as Valedictorian of her Class. She later graduated from Draughon’s Business School of Oklahoma City.

In her early years, she worked at the Sylvania Plant in Shawnee; Douglas Aircraft in Tulsa; Bookkeeping Department of Ford Motors Company and Wrangler in Seminole; Pioneer Abstract in Wewoka and in Medical Records at the Wewoka Hospital.

Later, she began her federal career with the Selective Service Board in Shawnee and retired from the Indian Health Service, Shawnee, in June 1992 as a Contract Health Services Specialist.

During her federal career, Ms. Cole received numerous outstanding performance awards.

After retirement, she served on the Seminole Nation Personnel Board and the Wewoka Service Unit Health Advisory Board.

As a former basketball player in grade school and high school, Ms. Cole was an avid Oklahoma City Thunder basketball and OU basketball and football fan.

In her early years, she played independent softball as a short stop up until her early 40’s.

Her past hobbies include sewing, quilt making, and fabric art.

She was a humble woman who had a compassionate, forgiving and caring manner towards others.

She demonstrated excellent work ethics throughout her life and taught her children work and Christian ethics, traditional values and the Seminole way of life.

She loved family gatherings with her children, grandchildren and other relatives.

She was known for her lemon meringue and banana cream pies and chicken and dumplings.

She loved God, Jesus Christ, and her Church family.

Her kindness, beautiful smile, laughter and joking mannerism will truly be missed.

Wake Services will be conducted on Friday, Feb. 22, 2013 at 6:00 p.m., at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Kelly Tiger, Jr.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013 at 2:00 p.m., at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Kelly Tiger, Jr., and J. C. Simpson.

Pall Bearers will be Chad Cole, Chase Cole, Trevor Cole, Frank Sewell, Charles Sewell and Terrance Manley.

Honorary Pall Bearers will be Michael Cole, Al Colman, David Jones, C. J. Vigil, Dino Velo, Larry Harrison and the Seminole Nation Honor/Color Guards.

Marjorie Coley

Wewoka resident Marjorie Lee Coley, age 83 years passed away Friday, Oct. 11, 2013 in Holdenville, Okla.

She was born March 10, 1931 in Wewoka, Okla. to the late Chester R. and Cozy Coley.

Margie was a graduate of Wewoka High School, a member of Wewoka Alumni and the Quarterback Club.

She loved to play golf, and was an avid Wewoka Tiger Fan.

She enjoyed shopping and eating at Golden Coral and spending time at Roberts Drug.

She worked for Wewoka Post Office for 34 years.

Preceding Marge in death are her parents; and sister, Virginia Roberts.

Survivors include a niece Mary Sue Butner of Norman, Okla.; cousins, Chad and Betty Stewart of Murray, Ky., Lee and Beth Stewart, Fla.; special friends, Freda Atwell, Nancy Garner, Elaine Chaffin, and Virginia Forsythe; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Graveside services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 18, 2013 at Oakwood Cemetery with Rev. Tommy Azlin officiating.

Marclee Collins

Marclee Collins passed away at her home in Gerty, Okla. Saturday, June 15th, 2013 at the age of 80.

Marclee was born April 8, 1933 in Gerty to Clyde and Gladys Henderson.

She lived in Gerty all of her life.

Marclee was a homemaker and Christian by faith, she loved spending time with her family and loved her grand and great grand babies.

She is survived by her son, William and his wife, Mary Collins of Gerty; daughter, Pamela Phillips of Allen; and stepdaughter, Michelle Harden of Allen; 14 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Marclee is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, JD Collins; sister, Imogene Shores; son, James Collins; and two great grandchildren.

Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday June 18, 2013 at Allen Cemetery with Pastor Alan Bakken officiating.

Pallbearers are William Collins Jr., Joe Daniel Jackson, Brad Scroggins, Brady Caldwell, William Harden, Shawn Greenlee, Jhonthan Collins and Jason Loveless.

Services are under the direction of Hudson Phillips Funeral Home of Holdenville, Okla.

Denysol Comstock

Denysol Comstock, Shawnee resident, passed away Feb. 27, 2013 at the age of 82.

He was born Aug. 19, 1930 to Bryce and Ora Dee (Potter) Comstock in Oklahoma City, Okla.

He was raised in Calvin and after graduating high school joined the United States Navy.

He was employed and retired from Tinker AFB.

He and his wife Etta loved to travel and spent time together camping and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Etta Comstock; his son, Denis Comstock; and his sister, Delorse Hayes.

He is survived by his brother, Pat Comstock and wife, Dolly of Wewoka; his daughter, Tresea Van Bebber and husband of Shawnee; his step-daughters, Donna Reeves, and Beverly Stubbs and husband Bill; niece, Donna Cofer and husband Jim; nephew, Jim Comstock, and numerous other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 1, 2013 at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Ernest Dwight Conatser

With his children by his side, Ernest Dwight Conatser, a long time Maud resident, passed from this life to be with his Lord on Feb. 14, 2013.

He was born in Amarillo, Tex., Jan. 3, 1944 to the late Loretta Jewell Chaffin-Conatser Johnson and the late J. B. Conatser.

The memorial service is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 18th at 10:00 a.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Okla.

Officiating the service will be Reverend Ann Mahler, 1st Church of God, Holdenville.

His remains will be interred at Mount Ida Cemetery in Sevier County, Ark., alongside his parents.

Mr. Conatser is survived by his two children, Sherri Conatser (Ishawn New) and Cliffton Conatser, all of Seminole; two sisters, Judy (Ken) Dodgen of Mena, Ark.; Yvonne (Johnny) Green of Denton, Tex.; and two brothers, Jerry (Sharron) Conatser of McLoud, Okla.; James (Billie) Conatser of Elkhart, Tex.

He is also survived by two grandchildren, Kena Rhoten of Moore, Okla. and Mason Seeley of Seminole; as well as three great-grandchildren, Kamari, Emree and Jakobi Hill of Moore, Okla.; and special friend, Karin Hahn, of Temple, Tex.

He is also survived by numerous, loving nieces and nephews, cousins, and so many other family and friends, including the administration and staff of SSC and the regular Tuesday evening staff meeting crew at Western Sizzlin.

Mr. Conatser attended school in Grand Prairie, Tex. and carried on the family tradition of concrete construction until he joined the staff in the maintenance department at Seminole State College in 1990. He retired from SSC in 2008.

Mr. Conatser enjoyed fishing and camping, country/gospel music, and visiting the guys at Cash Western Wear.

He especially enjoyed the Chaffin Reunions and the Chaffin/Conatser Cousins Float and Fishing trips.

He was preceded in death by both his parents and his sister, Reta May Conatser-Villanueva.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.

Robert Conyers

Longtime Seminole resident, Robert Preston Conyers, died Sunday, March 17, 2013 in Seminole, Okla. after a prolonged illness.

He was born June 16, 1946 in Charleston, S.C. to Mozelle and Mary Garnet (Wingate) Conyers.

He married Shirley Mae (Green) Jan. 23, 1989 in Texas.

He is survived by wife, Shirley of the home; one son, Robert Preston Conyers, Jr. of Texas; six daughters, Jackie Davis of Calif., Deneen Wolfe, April Wolfe, and Kim McDonald, all of Oklahoma City, Jeri Cramer and Kimako Martin of Okla.; one adopted son, Brian Underwood of Okla.; two sisters, Ann Cogburn of Tex. and Barbara Gene Nelson of Okla.; two brothers, Herbert Conyers of Okla., Bud Conyers of Tex.; 13 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Mozelle and Mary Conyers; a son, Dennis Joe Wolfe; and two grandsons, Terry Yearwood and Brandon White.

A graveside funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Little Cemetery north of Seminole. Jimmy Wingate and Steven Choate will officiate.

Serving as Casket bearers are Mike McDonald, Bradley Flick, Christopher Joslin, Brian Underwood, Joe E. Yearwood and Jerry Yearwood.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to help at Swearingen Funeral Home.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
