Peet Foran

Peet Foran, age 73 and a resident of Sasakwa, Okla., passed away on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013 at Mesa View Regional Hospital in Mesquite, Nev.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa, Okla. Jimmy Freeman will officiate.

Burial will follow at Vamoosa Cemtery.

Pallbearers are Kerry Davis, Steven Nail, George Nail, Chris Layne, David Scroggins, Bryan Yandell, Kenny Davis, Jason Scroggins, and Kevin Davis.

Honorary Pallbearers are H. G. Leach, Ron Johnson, Charlie Sanders, Gary King, Minor Thompson, Larry Paul, and Bill Rains.

The family will gather for a family night from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday night at the funeral home.

Peet was born on June 8, 1939 in Konawa to Floyd Foran and Flossie (Blakemore) Foran.

Peet was raised in the Vamoosa area. He attended Friendship and Vamoosa schools for eleven and one half years.

He was honorably discharged after serving his country for four years, Peet was a veteran of the U. S. Marines.

He married Bette J. Davis on April 22, 1961 in Orange, Calif.

They lived in California for two years. They also lived in Spaulding, Holdenville, and Sasakwa, Okla. areas for the remainder of his life.

He also worked as a heavy equipment diesel mechanic, truck driver, raised cattle, and worked in the drilling and oilfield industry.

Peet also loved to hunt and fish.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Bette J. Foran of the home; one daughter, Kristi Gum and husband, Gary of Coffeyville, Kans.; two sons, Floyd Lee Foran and wife, Laura of Sheridan, Wyo., and Robert Douglas Foran of Delta, Utah; two sisters, Ruby Nail of Maud, Okla., and Dorothy Paxton and husband, Larry of Seminole, Okla.; 12 grandchildren, Casey Yandell and husband, Bryan of Wetumka, Okla., Amanda Layne and husband, Chris of Holdenville, Adam Foran of Holdenville, Holly Lamb and husband, Mark of Stillwater, Rachel Wilson of Tecumseh, Erin Wilson and Jesse Babb of Holdenville, Julie Wilson of Seminole, Michael Foran of Seminole, Christian Foran of Fittstown, Okla., Kayli Foran of S. Whitley, Indiana, Garret Gum and wife, Whitney of Guthrie, Okla., and Slade Gum of Waynoka, Okla.; nine great grandchildren, Tyson, Rylan, Alexxis, and Mattie Layne of Holdenville., Payton Foran of Wetumka, Taylor Yandell of Wetumka, Emerson Neuenschwander of Ossian, Ind., Seth Yandell of Wetumka, and Brittany Yandell of Seminole and one great-great grandchild, Jaden Childress of Seminole; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Flossie Foran; one sister, Geraldine Foran; five brothers, Albert, Joseph, Floyd, Denver, and Jack Foran.

Elizabeth Franklin

Elizabeth Anne "Betty" Franklin, 80, longtime Seminole resident died Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013 in Seminole.

She was born in Seminole on Feb. 4, 1933 to Kenneth Clinton and Bernice Sally (Gates) Higdon.

She was retired from the Seminole Municipal Hospital where she was the Assistant Dietary Supervisor for many years.

She is survived by her daughter, Gina Franklin of Seminole; and her son, John Eric Franklin of Indianola, Okla.

Funeral services will be held, Friday, Nov. 8, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, with Rev. Gary O. Wilburn officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.

Elizabeth Geraldine Franklin

Elizabeth Geraldine Franklin, 90, longtime Seminole, Oklahoma resident died, Friday September 27, 2013 in Seminole.

She was born January 3, 1923 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Brooks and Edna (Knight) Turner.

Elizabeth retired from Blue Bell Manufacturing in Seminole in 1988 as a quality control inspector after working as an upholsterer and working in shipyards during World War II.

She graduated from Luther High School, Luther, Oklahoma.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Wes and Bobbi Franklin of Seminole, Oklahoma and a daughter and son-in-law, Laurie and Brian Higgs of Everett, Washington.

She is also survived by six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son David B. Patterson.

Graveside services are planned for 4:00 P.M., Monday, September 30, 2013 at Little Cemetery with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating. Burial will be at Little Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.

Pauline Franks

Pauline Franks born July 7, 1921, in Seminole Okla. to William Henry & Rosie Jane Franks, passed away April 19, 2013 in Phoenix, Ariz. She graduated from Seminole High School in 1939 and attended the University of Oklahoma in Norman.

Pauline married Jackson F. Borjes in 1942 who preceded her in death. She is survived by her two sons Jackson and Richard, daughter-in-law Susan, three grand daughters Tanya L. Borjes, Megan D Greene and Kenzie E. Borjes and seven great grand children.

Bruce Fredrickson

Bruce Lee Fredrickson of Seminole passed away on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013 in Placeville, Calif. He was 58 years old.

He had lived in Seminole for the past four years.

Memorial services are planned for Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Boomtown Park in Seminole where he enjoyed time with his nieces and nephews.

He was born April 4, 1955 in Redwood City, Calif. To Robert Fredrickson and Beatrice Cooper Fredrickson.

He attended school at Sunnyvale, Calif.

He was a carpenter by trade.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dale and Alfred ‘Fred’ Fredrickson; and his parents, Robert and Beatrice Fredrickson.

He is survived by his son, Nick Fredrickson and wife, Joy; five grandchildren, Adian, Cameron, Austin, Catraina and Easton Fredrickson; and his sister, Bonnie and her husband Tom Cherry; and brothers, Wayne and wife, Barbara Fredrickson, Donald Fredrickson, Gary Fredrickson.

Mildred Freer

Mildred Inez Freer, age 98 of Wewoka, Okla. passed away Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013 at Heritage Village Nursing Home.

She was born Aug. 26, 1915 in Heavener, Okla. to the late Eugene Thomas and Julia Catherine (Hall) Thomas.

Mildred was a homemaker, and a member of Bethel Pentecostal Holiness Church.

She enjoyed painting, gardening, walking, and working with the cattle on the farm.

Preceding Mildred in death are her parents; husband, Clyde Freer; son, Gene Freer; sister, Lucille Hoglan; brother, Bill Thomas; and grandson, Matthew Freer.

Survivors include son, Jerry C. Freer and wife Wanda of Wewoka; brother, Bob Thomas of Wewoka; sister Marjorie Carter of Seminole; grandchildren, Raymond, Jerry Gene, Edward, Geraldine, Margie, Linda, Angel and a host of other relatives and friends.

Pall bearers will be Aarin Gleson, Cory Rowe, Dyllan Rowe, Cody Parrott, and Raymos Estrada.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15, 2013 at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Donna Gustin officiating and burial at Tate Mountain.

Arrangements are by Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

Roberta Freese

Roberta Caroline Freese, 69, resident of Seminole, Okla. and former resident of Konawa, Okla., died Friday, June 14, 2013 at Midwest City Regional Hospital.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18th at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa. Rev. Jim McMillan, Pastor of the First Baptist Church in Konawa will officiate. Burial will follow at the Konawa Cemetery.

She was born Aug. 6, 1943 in Phoenix, Ariz. to Robert Freese and Juanita (Maddox) Freese.

She graduated from Tishomingo High School.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Juanita Freese.

Wanda Gardner

Wanda Lee Shaffer Gardner, age 83, passed away at her home on Jan. 16, 2013, following a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born July 2, 1929, in the Town of Bartonville Ill., to the late Charles and Ethel Shaffer.

She attended and graduated from Partonsville High in 1947.

On Dec. 15th 1946, she was united in marriage with AC "Pete" Gardner in Denton, Tex.

Wanda was the secretary for the Seminole Round Up Club for many years and her late husband, Pete, was the President. They were both very active in the Seminole Round Up Club.

In December 1966 Wanda owed and managed a grocery store next door to their residence on Harvey Rd then in 1970 she opened a concrete yard ornament business, then a gift shop which she ran until her health started failing.

Wanda’s passion in their younger years was going dancing with Pete and their good friends Amos and Fern Cheatham.

She also collected decorative roosters, loved sewing in which she made many quilt tops, crocheting, collecting glassware and antique furniture.

Wanda is survived by her son, Ronald Lynn and her daughter-in-law, L. Doyalyne Gardner of Seminole; one grandson, Jason L. Gardner, Seminole; one granddaughter, Amanda L. Walker and her husband Chance Walker of Shawnee; two great-granddaughters, Charity Walker of Shawnee, and Baylie Gardner also of Shawnee.

She is further survived by one sister, Juanita Webb of Seminole, and many nieces, nephews and friends which she has made over the years.

Wanda was greeted in Heaven by her soul mate AC "Pete" Gardner as well as her parents, four brothers, Lavern, Harold, Eugene and Junior. And three sisters, Cleo, Vera and Charlene.

The family abided by her wishes for her close family members to lay her to rest beside her soul mate, Pete, in Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole, Okla.

A special "Thank you" is sent to the staff of Heartland Hospice for their help and support during our time of need.

Mourine Gentry

Mourine (Plumlee) Gentry, 82 year-old, was born Jan. 19, 1930 at Meeker, Okla. to J.E. and Callie Plumlee.

Mourine began her eternal life on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013.

She had eight brothers and one sister.

She attended first grade in a one-room schoolhouse at Union Point. Then, attended second grade at Musson School near Shawnee. From third grade to eight grade, Mourine attended Ferguson County School. She graduated from Butner High School in 1948.

At an early age, she accepted the Lord and attended Ferguson Assembly of God Church and was baptized in a farm pond.

In 1951, she met Howard Gentry and married him in 1952. They had two children Linda (Gentry) Fox of Poteau, Okla. and Dennis Gentry of Oklahoma City.

They moved to Midwest City in 1972. Both retired from Tinker Air Force Base. Howard and Mourine were married 42 years at the time of Howard’s death in 1995.

Mourine attended Althea Temple Church in Midwest City. She loved country gospel and bluegrass music. Her favorite singer was George Jones.

Mourine was a beautiful lady who always wanted to look her best before she went anywhere.

She will be remembered most for her inner qualities that include: her tenderness and gentleness, her kindness and sense of humor, her smile, her willingness to help and support us, her encouragement and cards she always sent us, her standard of discipline, and her unconditional love.

Mourine will also be remembered for her talent of cooking every Sunday and holidays for our family and friends, and her skill of sewing dresses for her daughter and granddaughters.

Mourine cherished her two beautiful granddaughters, Charity (Gentry) Snapp and Sara Gentry both of Oklahoma City. She loved her son-in-law, Eddie Fox and Charity’s husband, Mike Snapp and her granddaughters’ mother, Lori Watson.

She treasured the relationships with her many nieces and nephews.

She was fond of her next-door neighbors, Jeannie and Jarod Boggs.

Special thanks to all the staff at Hospice Quality Care who provided compassionate health care and the host of friends and family members who loved her in this life.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel located at 1001 N. Milt Phillips Ave. in Seminole with Jim McCool officiating the service. Interment will follow at Little Cemetery north of Seminole.
