Services for Ruby Simpkins Gregory, 92, of Seminole, formerly of the Ada area, are 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Michael Wayne Hanks will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery in Ada.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Sunday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mrs. Gregory died Thursday, July 18, 2013 at a Seminole nursing home.
She was born April 18, 1921 in the Egypt Community, west of Ada to John Henry and Ora Gay Vaden Myers.
She attended Egypt and Latta schools.
She married Elbert N. Simpkins in 1941. He preceded her in death on April 13, 1992.
Mrs. Gregory was a homemaker and had previously worked at Valley View Regional Hospital as a purchasing agent and later supervisor in Central Supply.
Survivors include a daughter, Ruberta Scoggins and her husband Roston of Maud; five grandchildren, Jeter Simpkins of Oklahoma City, Travis Simpkins of Dallas, Tex., and Edie Hinton, Jamie Spurr and husband Hank, and Kristie Rhea, all of Ripley, Tenn.; and four great grandchildren, Timmy Holcomb, Cameron Rhea, Jessica Spurr and Serenity Simpkins.
She was preceded in death by a son, James D. Simpkins and a granddaughter, Lindsey Holcomb.
Bearers will be Timmy Holcomb, Cameron Rhea, Travis Simpkins, Jeter Simpkins and Hank Spurr.
Bill Griffin
Bill Griffin, 83, peacefully turned to the right on Sunday, March 3.
A memorial service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at First Christian Church in Cushing.
He was born in Konawa, son of the late Hugh and Minnie (Culpepper) Griffin.
An alumnus of Oklahoma Military Academy, he was 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Corps. of Engineers in the Korean War.
Honorably discharged, he completed his B.S. in Petroleum and Mechanical Engineering at Oklahoma A&M (OSU) and began his career in Texas where he met and married Peggy Leddy, who preceded him in death in 1998.
Bill was a hard worker, a meticulous engineer, devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend.
He was a member of American Petroleum Institute, Society of Petroleum Engineers, VFW and First Christian Church.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Duane and Anne Griffin, Lewisburg, Pa.; his daughter, Kerrie; his daughter and son-in-law, Billie Griffin and Jon Kulczycki, Denver; grandchildren, Deanne and Bic Griffin, Lewisburg, Pa.; brothers and sister-in-law, Bob and Wanda Griffin, Sulphur Springs, Tex., Rube and Mary Griffin, Konawa, HO and Doris Griffin, Vamoosa.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Richadean, Heavener.

H.O. Griffin
June 7, 1936 - April 24, 2013
H.O. Griffin, 76 years old longtime Seminole County resident, was called home to God on Wednesday, April 24, 2013.
He was born in Konawa on June 7, 1936 to Hugh and Minnie (Culpepper) Griffin.
H.O. attended Vamoosa High School and Murray State College.
He was a Staff Sergeant in the Oklahoma National Guard and also a veteran of the Desert Storm Gulf War.
During his time in the service, H.O. earned the Humanitarian Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal (second award), Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon; he retired at the age of 60 years old.
He worked as a Bookkeeper for Seminole County.
He was also a member of the Assembly of God Church locate in Bowlegs, Okla.
On June 11, 1965 in Harden City, Okla. he married the apple of his eye, Doris Lee Griffin (Davis). God had blessed them with 47 beautiful blissful years together.
H.O. was a kind hearted, peaceful and humble man. He was often seen with a smile on face and a cup of coffee in his hand.
He loved God and enjoyed spending his time with family, his dog Jessie Joe, and looking at his John Deere collection in his home.
H.O. is survived by his wife Doris; two brothers, Bob and his wife Wanda Griffin of Sulphur Springs, Tex., Rube and his wife Mary Griffin of Konawa, Okla. Other survivors include several nieces and nephews, and host of other family and friends.
His parents, one brother, Bill Griffin of Cushing, Okla. and a sister, Richadean Jackson of Heavener, Okla. preceded him in death.
A celebration of life service for H.O. Griffin will be at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, April 29, 2013 at the Bowlegs Assembly of God Church located in Bowlegs, Okla. Interment will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery with military honors.
Pallbearers are Fred Carpenter, Thomas Billings, Rob Robertson, Tommy Mackey, Dewayne Gillham, and Lee Hughes.
Honorary pallbearers are Jack Russell, Gale Hughes, Randy Wassom, and Ron Plank.
I would like to acknowledge everyone’s acts of kindness to me from the prayers, visits, cards, food, and lovely flower arrangements. I would also like to say a special thanks to Ladies of the Bowlegs Assembly of God Church for their delicious meals. The comforting celebrating of life service by Rev. John ‘Rusty’ Griffin
John "Rusty" Edward Griffin, went home to be with the Lord Friday, April 12, 2013 surrounded by his family in his Seminole home.
Born Dec. 21, 1946, John lived 66 wonderful years.
A memorial service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday April 18, at the First Baptist Church of Seminole with Pastor Marvin Kehl officiating.
His cremains will be on view Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home.
Though John lived many places during his early adult life, he was always a Seminole resident at heart.
His first marriage, of 21 years, to Linda (Pippin) Puckett, brought three children, Sheri, Leslie and Josh into the world.
On Feb. 18, 1990, he married Susie (Kovach) Griffin. They enjoyed 23 years of marriage, the last seven with their beloved dog, Missy.
John attended Seminole Public Schools and played the tuba in Seminole High School’s marching band.
John served 23 years in the US Navy as a flight engineer and production supervisor and he retired as a senior chief petty officer.
After retirement, he discovered his passion, picture framing. Once Susie retired from the Navy, they moved to Seminole to open Griffin’s Custom Framing.
In his youth, John learned to play guitar and enjoyed singing Elvis and Beatles songs.
He was an avid runner and completed many 10k races.
In his later years, he loved photography and won numerous awards for it.
Few things gave John greater joy than giving back to the town he loved. He served on the board of the Seminole Oil Museum and the Arts Council; founded the Downtown Beautification Committee and donated to the First Baptist Church, Seminole Public Schools, and often donated art to local fundraisers.
John always had a smile to share and did his best to bring as much laughter into the world as he could.
John was preceded in death by his father, JD Griffin.
John is survived by his wife of the home, Susie and their dog, Missy; his mother, Christine Griffin of Seminole; three children and one son-in-law, Sheri Griffin, Leslie and Jeroid Berry all of Seminole, and Josh Griffin of Norman; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Mike and Trisha Griffin of Wolf, and Jeff and Jana Griffin of Seminole.
John is also survived by four grandchildren, Ashley Miller, Bailey Purganan, Charles Hull and David Noland; and five great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to World Vision or MDA, two of John’s favorite charities.
Larry Grisham
Funeral services for Larry Houston Grisham, 59, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013 at Little Cemetery Chapel located on Hwy 99 North of Seminole. Glenn Pence, pastor of the Seminole First Christian Church, will officiate. Interment will follow at Little Cemetery.
Grisham died Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at his home near Seminole.
He was born Oct. 5, 1953, in Seminole to Houston A. and Rita (Burkhart) Grisham.
He graduated from New Lima High School and was a retired truck driver.
He lived in Oklahoma City and Tulsa before moving back to Seminole about 15 years ago.
In his retirement, he was a craftsman, woodworker and sportsman.
He was preceded in death by his father; and two brothers, Dennis Ray Grisham and James Randal Grisham.
Survivors include his mother, Rita Grisham Lester, Seminole; one sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Jerry Anson, Seminole; one brother and sister-in-law, Terry and Terrie Grisham, Tulsa; nieces, Heather Anson, Seminole, and Jill Malone, East Grand Forks, Minn.; nephews, Dennis Grisham Jr. and Ryan Anson, both of Oklahoma City; and seven grand-nephews.
Pallbearers will include Terry Grisham, Dennis Grisham Jr., Jerry Anson, Ryan Anson, Sonny Grisham, Jessie Grisham, Joshua Hurst and Jade Hurst.
Honorary pallbearers will include his uncles, Clifford and Kenneth "Pete" Grisham.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
Nettie Guile
Nettie L. Guile was born Dec. 15, 1945 in Claremore, Okla. to Ellis Thompson and Enda Mabes.
She passed away June 28, 2013 at her home in Wewoka.
Nettie worked as a cook most of her life and enjoyed reading and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Carlin, Holdenville; sons, Louis Palmer Jr., Holdenville and Leonard Ray Palmer, Bristow; grandchildren, Jose and Amber Ibarra, Leesville, La., Michael Palmer, Holdenville, Rose and William Chesser, Wewoka, Cathy Palmer, Merkel, Tex. and Sylvia Palmer, Bristow; great grandchildren, Arianna Palmer, Autumn Ibarra, Angela Palmer, Evelyn Ibarra, Madison Chesser, Leroy Brown, Kailey Chesser and Lillian Ibarra; sister, Frances Ashcraft, Stroud and many friends and family members.
A Memorial service will be held at a later date.
Mary Guinn
Mary May (Jensen) Guinn passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, June 23, 2013 at the age of 89.
She was born in Hennessey Okla. on May 3, 1924 to James Peter Jensen and Elizabeth (Scheulen) Jensen. She was the youngest of six children.
She and Leo E. "Gene" Guinn were married on Dec. 1, 1949 in Tulsa, Okla.
She was a devoted mother and homemaker.
During their life together they lived in six states and Venezuela.
She and Leo traveled extensively visiting 47 of the 50 states.
She was an avid fisherman and camper and enjoyed many summers camping in the Uintah Mountains in Utah visiting her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of almost 64 years Leo "Gene" Guinn of the home; her daughter and son-in-law, Neatha Kay and Joseph Johnston of Salt Lake City, Utah; her three sons and daughters-in-law, Nathan E. and Mary Guinn, Konawa, Okla., Jimmy Ray and Colleen Guinn, Vernal, Utah and Robert Charles and Anna Guinn, Vernal, Utah; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her two brothers Bill and Norbert; and three sisters, Jaqueta, Bea and Regina.
A Wake will be held at Sacred Heart Church, Konawa, Okla. on Tuesday, June 25 at 7:00 pm.
A funeral mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Wednesday, June 26 at 2:00 p.m. Father Adrian Vorderlandwehr, O.S.B. will officiate the service.
