Life long Seminole county resident Mae Antoinete Homesley died Friday, March 29, 2013 at her home at the age of 67.
She was born Jan. 28, 1946 in Earlsboro, Okla. to Alphonso P. Homesley and Marguerite (Pegram) Homesley.
After graduating from high school at the age of 16, she earned a bachelor degree in biology from Langston University by age 20, then earned a Master’s degree from East Central University in Ada, Okla.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alphonso Homesley and Marguerite Homesley; and one brother, Alphonso Homesley, Jr..
Visitation will be held 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, April 7, 2013 at Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole, Okla.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 8, 2013 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lee Oliver officiating. Burial will take place at Earlsboro Cemetery in Earlsboro.
Serving as casket bearers are Afalo Bray, Kevin Hardeman, Dearborn Edwards, Ronald Mayweather, Thomas Griffis and John E. Permetter, Sr..
Honorary casket bearers are Tim Wimbley and Gerald Walton.

Robert Hopper
Robert Darrell Hopper, 43 year-old lifelong Maud, Okla. resident, went to be with his Lord and Savior Monday, July 15, 2013 following a tragic automobile accident on Hwy 9 west of Hwy 9A.
He was born Oct. 21, 1969 in Seminole, Okla. to parents Janice Elaine (Smith) Hopper and Clarence Darrell Hopper.
Robert attended Maud Public Schools graduating from Maud High School in 1988.
He went on to further his education earning his Bachelors Degree from Oklahoma University where he graduated with honors.
Robert then went on to earn his Masters Degree in education from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Okla.
In 1995, Robert married Carol Mehesey in Silverton, Colo. and even after they parted ways they continued to maintain a wonderful friendship. She currently lives in Cortez, Colo.
Robert was currently working for Omega Construction Company based out of Tulsa, Okla.
Robert leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother, Janice King of Shawnee, Okla.; his father, Clarence Hopper and his wife Mary of Maud, Okla.; his step-father, Tommy King of Maud, Okla.; two brothers, Ed Hopper and his wife Edie of Oklahoma City, Okla., Tommy "T.K." King of Maud, Okla.; four sisters, Laura Ginn and her husband Rusty of Saint Louis, Okla., Ginger King of Oklahoma City, Okla., Krista Allison and her husband Gerald of Knoxville, Tenn., Kandi Nagel and her husband Rick of Norman, Okla.
Other survivors include all of his nieces and nephews. Their favorite, "Uncle Robert" never forgot to send them a card on Christmas or their birthday. They include, Emily, Mason, Jacquelin, Brooklyn, Decklin, Libby, Grace, Aspen, Ashleigh, Joby, Kobin, Fisher, Brinley, Aubrey, Mackenzie, Sofia and Kennedy.
Robert is also survived by a host of other family and dear friends.
Robert is preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Juanita Hopper, who died in 2002; his sister, Tina (King) Lowden, who died in 2005; and by his maternal grandmother, Frances Smith, who died in 2012.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 19, 2013 at Trinity Baptist Church in Maud, Okla. with Rev. Mark Wallace of Grace Center Church in Shawnee, Brother Dan Kasper of The Church Of God in Maud, and Frank Brewer of the Maud Church Of Christ. Interment will follow at Cummings Cemetery in Maud, Okla.
The family request that donations be sent to the Shawnee Rescue Mission, P.O. Box 1966, Shawnee, Oklahoma 74802 or to the charity of your choice in memory of Robert Hopper.

Carolyn Houck
Carolyn Sue Houck, 69, Earlsboro, Okla. resident died Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at her home.
She was born June 14, 1943 in Seminole, Okla. to Desmond Merion Ross and Thelma Pauline (Lee) Ross.
Carolyn grew up in Seminole and married David Eugene Houck on Dec. 12, 1976, he preceded her in death on March 27, 2012.
Carolyn was a homemaker and loving mother.
Carolyn is survived by three sons, Darin and Kelly Wheeler of Earlsboro, Okla; Merion Wheeler of the home and David Houck, Jr. of Seminole, Okla.; two daughters, LaDonna Wheeler and her husband, Stoney Kelough of the home and Sarah White of Norman, Okla. She is also survived by five sisters, Joyce Ross, Barbara Orr of Seminole, Okla., Joan Morris of Wewoka, Okla., Patricia Carter of Seminole, Okla. and Janis Valarma of Earlsboro, Okla.; seventeen grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Her parents; husband, David; brother, Bruce Ross; great grandson, Justin Netzel; and a great-granddaughter, Ashlyn Netzel, preceded Carolyn in death.
Graveside services are planned for 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at Little Cemetery, with Rev. Jimmy Moreland and Anita Moreland officiating.
Casket bearers will be Darin Wheeler, Keith Wheeler, Tommy Kean, Cody Hasbell, Ricky Reeves and Danny Lozier.
Honorary Bearers will be Merion Wheeler, Ebb Simon and Jimmy Wheeler.

Steven Houck
Steven R. Houck, a life long Seminole resident passed away Monday, Oct. 7, 2013 at Integris Baptist Medical Center, he was 43 years old.
Steven was born Aug. 31, 1970 in Shawnee, Okla. to parents, Benny Allen Houck and Bonnie Jo Houck.
He graduated from Pleasant Grove High School.
Steven was employed with Kirby Smith Machinery.
Steven is survived by parents, Benny Houck and Bonnie Houck; one son, Bradley Wayne Houck of Seminole; and one daughter, Amy Dawn Houck of Oklahoma City, Okla.
He is also survived by two sisters, Cynthia Houck and Robin Nelson both of Seminole and three grandchildren, Lily Jade Houck, Philinne Grace Houck and Kayden Ray Smith, and a number of great friends.
Funeral service for Steven will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, 2012 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev Carl Whitfield officiating. Burial will take place at Little Cemetery, Seminole County, Okla.
Clifford Householder
Clifford David Householder, 82 year-old Maud, Okla. resident passed from this life Friday, Feb. 8, 2013 at Sunset Estates Care Center in Tecumseh, Okla.
He was born April 29, 1931 in Texas to parents George William Householder and Mary Parlee (Nicholas) Householder.
Mr. Householder went on to serve in the United States Army.
On March 8, 1958 he married the love of his life Jolene Ann Gebhardt in Claycenter, Kansas.
The couple moved to Maud from Sulphur, Okla. in 1991, following Clifford’s retirement from OG&E electric company where he constructed substations.
They attended The Church Of Christ in Sulphur, Goodhope Road in Seminole and Holdenville, Okla.
Survivors include one son, Robert Householder of Maud; three daughters and sons-in-law, Julie and Mark Morris of Oklahoma City, Sheryl and Scott Dewitt of Mesa, Ariz. and Deanna Panio of Peekskill, N.Y.; two grandchildren, Gabriel Dewitt and Sydney Dewitt of Mesa, Ariz.; and by a host of other family and dear friends.
Mr. Householder is preceded in death by his parents and by his wife Jolene Ann Householder who died on Oct. 2, 2006 and by nine siblings.
Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013 at Cummings Cemetery in Maud with Daryl Householder officiating the service.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
Dortha Howard
Dortha L. Howard, 78, lifelong Seminole resident, died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013 in Seminole.
Dortha was born April 6, 1935 in Seminole to Eva (Pease) and William Smith.
Dortha graduated from Seminole High School and attended college.
She worked for the State of Oklahoma, Department of Human Services for over 31 years as a social worker and supervisor.
She attended the First United Methodist Church in Seminole for many years and was a former member of the Seminole B.P.W. professional women’s organization.
She loved cake decorating and was a member of the Ice’s club.
She married Harley Howard on February 11, 1955 in Seminole.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Harley Howard of Seminole; two sons, Keith Allen Howard of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Delbert Kirk Howard of Allen, Tex., along with her brother, Delbert Smith of Atoka, Okla. and her two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother; and one sister.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, Nov. 29, 2013 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Jack Mattingly, Sr., Denver Johnson, Kenneth Howard, Clancy Phillips, Joe Reed and Paul Fessler.

Alfred E. Hubbard
Alfred E. Hubbard, 71, a former New Lima, Okla. resident passed away on Thursday, Sept. 19 2013 in Atlanta, Ga. Hubbard was born May 11, 1942, to the late Rev. William Hubbard and Beatrice Brown Hubbard in Lima, Okla.
Hubbard graduated from New Lima High School, and afterward joined the U.S. Air Force. He moved to Washington D.C. and lived there for 31 years.
Hubbard is survived by three sons, Abdul Hubbard of Atlanta, Ga., Chackie Hubbard and Jawan Hubbard of Washington D.C., and daughter Ragel Price of Atlanta, Ga.
Two brothers, James Hubbard of National City, Calif., and Ural B. Hubbard of Colorado Springs, Colo. Seven sisters, Lois Broussard of Gaithersburg, Md., Jean Wright of Seminole, Okla., Glynn D. Gantt of Wichita, Kans., Vera Jones of Gaithersburg, Md., Ida Wright of Bowie, Md., Hope Hayes and Leontyne Jones of Clinton, Md. Hubbard is also survived by 3 grandchildren.
Along with his parents, Hubbard is preceded in death by a sister and a brother.
Memorial services will be held on Monday, September 30, 2013, in Washington D.C.
Terrie Hudson
Seminole resident Terrie Ann Hudson died Saturday, March 23, 2013 in Seminole, Okla. at the age of 54.
She was born Jan. 4, 1958 in Seminole, Okla. to James Lamar Crawford and Donna Rose (Smart) Crawford.
After graduating from high school, she earned a bachelors degree in elementary education.
She taught at Moore Public School for 28 years.
She married James Hudson in Hawaii.
She is survived by her mother, Donna Rose Crawford; one brother, Keith Crawford of Seminole; two sisters, Rose Mary Crawford of Shawnee, Okla. and Jamie Clement of Spokane, Wash.
She was preceded in death by her father, James Crawford; husband, James Hudson; and son, Brandon Neil Whitten.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at the Historical Strother Chapel at Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole.
Family members will serve as casket bearers.
