Earl Melton Lucas, a lifelong Seminole County resident, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013 at his home in Seminole County at the age of 76.
Earl was born Feb. 3, 1936 in Pauls Valley, Okla. to parents Joseph Lee Lucas and Vernia (Coney) Lucas.
Earl moved to Seminole 55 years ago from Shawnee.
Earl was a member of Highway Baptist Church of Little, Okla., for ten years he served as an ombudsman volunteer, which serves as a Nursing Home Advocate and he also retired from Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Ada. Earl was a route salesman, repaired vending machines and a route supervisor.
Earl married Sammie (Butler) on June 2, 1956 in Shawnee, they celebrated 50 years of marriage on June 2, 2006, she preceded him in death on Jan. 18, 2009.
Earl is survived by two sons, Mike Lucas and his wife Lynn of Seminole, Wendel Lucas and his wife Jamie of Little Axe, Okla.; two daughters, Jackie Lucas of Seminole and Teresa Woods and her husband Dallas of Dibble, Okla.
He is also survived by three brothers, Roy Lucas of Shawnee, Jimmy Lucas of Fort Worth, Tex., and Elmer Lucas of Choctaw, Okla.; 12 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren; Amber Lucas and his "Rose Queen", Sydney Lucas his special caregivers.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Vernia Lucas; his wife, Sammie Lucas; one son, Steve Lucas and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating. Burial will take place at Tribby Cemetery in Tribby, Okla.
Serving as casket bearers are Dallas Danielson, Terry Lucas, Ryan Martin, Kelly Joplin and Timmy Potter.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.
Michael Luckey
Calvin resident Michael Allen Luckey, age 61 years passed away Thursday, May 9, 2013 at his home.
He was born Nov. 22, 1951 in Springfield, Ill. to Medford and Lillie Mae (Alinger) Luckey.
Michael proudly served his country in the US Navy from May 1969 to March 1971.
He attended school in Bixby, Okla.
He married Brenda Roberts June 1981 and she preceded him in death Feb. 16, 2008.
Survivors include daughter Melissa Conner of McAlester, Okla.; two grandsons, Edmon and Michael Conner; his parents, Medford and Lillie Mae Luckey of Calvin, Okla.; brothers and sisters, Steve Lucky of Liberty Mounds, Linda McKinney of Bugtussell, Okla., Medford Luckey, of Owasso, Okla. and Denise Moore of Wewoka, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 25, 2013 at Blue Ridge Cemetery, Calvin, Okla. with Rev. Walter Kuhlman officiating.
Arrangements are by Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.
Michael Luckey
Calvin resident Michael Allen Luckey, age 61 years passed away Thursday, May 9, 2013 at his home.
He was born Nov. 22, 1951 in Springfield, Ill. to Medford and Lillie Mae (Alinger) Luckey.

Emilia Baca Luna, 82, Seminole resident, died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013 at Elmwood Manor in Wewoka, Okla.
Emilia was born Aug. 8, 1931 in Lubbock, Tex., to Margarita (Martinez) and Randolph Baca.
Emilia was a homemaker, wife and mother, who love quilting, embroidering, puzzles and watching her "Cowboy Shows."
She married Manuel Luna on May 10, 1947 in Lubbock, Tex. and he preceded her in death on Dec. 18, 2007.
She is survived by her daughters, Margaret Gonzales of Del Rio, Tex., Beatrice Garcia and her husband, Pete Garcia of Vici, Okla., Rosemary Valles of Texline, Tex., and Rachel Cortez and her husband, Antonio of Dalhart, Tex.; her two sons, Edward Luna and Sammye Davis of Bowlegs, Okla. and Gilbert Luna and his wife, Frances Luna of Killeen, Tex., a sister, Francis Subia of Lubbock, Tex.; her grandchildren, Donna and Wayne Pogue, Lisa Gomez, John Manuel Aguilera, Trinidad Aguilera, Fabian and Kristi Aguilera, Vivian Gonzales, Michael and Recia Garcia, Loriann Garcia, Geneva and Oliver, Christy and Jason Smith, Monica and Pedro Martinez, Hector Hernandez, Sammy Hernandez, Olivia Luna, Gilbert Raymond and Kayla Luna, Veronica Cortez, Marco Cortez, Allison Cortez, Lucas Cortez, Jennifer Thompson, Rebecca Valles and Nataleigh Valles; 30 plus great grandchildren; and 14 plus great great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Friday, Dec. 13, 2013 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating. Burial will follow at Thrace Cemetery south of Bowlegs.

Wanda Malone
Funeral service for Wanda Marie Malone, 84, of Shawnee will be 1:00 pm Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013, at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with Scott Hendry, officiating.
Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.
Mrs. Malone passed away on Friday, Nov. 1, 2013 in McLoud, Okla.
Wanda was born Feb. 19, 1929, in Seminole, Okla., to Allen and Alberta (Crownover) Heath.
She moved to San Perlita, Texas at an early age.
She was one of eleven kids and picked cotton with her brothers and sisters at young age.
She moved back to Seminole when she was fifteen and worked at Woolsworth.
During World War II she started writing letters to Johnie Malone while he was stationed in England. They never met until he returned to the States and paid her a visit one day while she was working in Woolsworth.
It was love at first sight and they were married on July 2, 1945 in Wewoka, Okla.
Wanda moved to Shawnee in 1960 and worked at Gibson’s for over 10 years in the toy department.
She was a member of The Lord.
She loved and adored her grandchildren and loved to dance with them.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; six brothers; and three sisters.
Wanda is survived by four sons, Jerald Malone and his wife, Debora, Gary Malone and his wife, Beth, David Malone, and his wife Jeannie, and Johnie Malone, Jr. and his wife, Susie; 10 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; one sister, Mildred White; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Hospital, 717 NE Katherine Place, Oklahoma City, OK 73114, in memory of Wanda Malone.
Charles Mangus
Charles Lloyd Mangus, 79, Tecumseh resident died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013 at Golden Rule Nursing Center in Shawnee.
He was born Dec. 20, 1933 in Tecumseh to Lloyd Mangus and Martha (Ketner) Mangus.
He attended Tecumseh Public Schools before joining the United States Army where he served during the Korean War.
On May 19, 1959 he married Carrie Elizabeth Birdsell in Poteau, Okla.
He was a self-employed carpenter for many years, finishing out his career working at the Pensacola Naval Base in Pensacola, Fla.
Survivors include one son, Keith Mangus of Shawnee; three daughters, Juanita Mills of Yuba City, Calif., Christine Palmer of Maud, Shelley Brown of Pensacola, Fla.; two brothers, James Mangus of Madill, Okla., Virgil Mangus of Chandler, Okla.; seven sisters, Dorothy Newton of Tecumseh, Cleta Farr of Shawnee, Delores Browning of Washington State, Marcella Jones of Shawnee, Ima Jo Stapp of Tecumseh, Nancy Tegtmeier of Madill, Helen Lamb of Shawnee; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Mangus; his mother, Martha (Ketner) Mangus; one son, Charles Eugene Mangus; and his wife, Carrie Elizabeth (Birdsell) Mangus.
A Memorial service with Military Honors is scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Oct. 31, 2013 at Sharon Baptist Church in Shawnee with Pastor Clint Dawkins officiating the service.
Cremation services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
Elydia Manry
Elydia M. Manry, resident of Bethany, Okla. died Thursday, June 27, 2013.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, July 1, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Little Cemetery in Seminole County. Rev. Clint Dawkins will officiate.
Walker Funeral Services is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
She was born July 31, 1917 in Shawnee, Okla. to Ira C. and Della (Reed) Robertson.
She married James Orphis Manry and was a homemaker, farmer and rancher.
She is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; brother, Bud Robertson; and sister, Luceal Schimmel.
She is survived by her daughter, Myrna Dell and several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren.
Joeanna Marquis
Joeanna Marquis was born in Kingston, Ark. on Sept. 12, 1910 and departed this life in Seminole, Okla. on Feb. 8, 2013 at the age of 102.
Joeanna was the daughter of Tom and Mollie (Hillard) Jackson.
She came to the Strother area with her parents as a small child in a covered wagon in the 1920s and made her home in that area since that time. Her family had intended to settle near Eufaula to be near some relatives but flooding and muddy roads held them back so they settled in northern Seminole county.
She attended Red Mound School before the rural schools consolidated. JoeAnna attended Prairie Grove School and later was one of four members of the first graduating class from Strother in 1931. For the last 30 years she was the last surviving member of that class.
Joeanna was married to Roger L. Marquis in Okemah on Sept. 28, 1948 and he preceded her in death on Jan. 18, 1996. They lived on his family’s land on the North Canadian River where they ran a small cattle and hay operation.
She was also preceded in death by her son, Roger Jack Marquis on July 22, 2006.
Others who preceded her in death are one sister, Cleo Bond, and two brothers, Ernest Jackson and Otto Jackson.
Mrs. Marquis was a member of the Church of Christ at Little and was a homemaker. She also worked in the Wrangler plant.
She was currently a resident at Seminole’s Pioneer Nursing home.
Survivors include her devoted daughter in law, Janet Cene’ Marquis of Seminole; grandchildren, Jeremy and Natalie Marquis of Edmond; Khara Cene’ and Garrick Ritzky of Tulsa; great grandchildren, Ellie Marie Marquis, Cooper Jack Marquis; one sister and brother in law, Juanita and Winfred Lowe of Seminole; two brothers and one sister in law, Fred Jackson of Seminole, Clinton and Peggy Jackson of Seminole.
The family has requested that expressions of sympathy may be made to the Strother College Scholarship Fund.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2013 at 11:00 a.m., at Church Of Christ at Little. Interment will follow at Little Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
