Sharon Power

Sharon Marcine Power, 75, longtime Seminole resident died Tuesday, October 1, 2013 in Shawnee, Okla. Sharon was born August 17, 1938 in Keokuk, Iowa to Robert Cornelius and Mary Maxine (Ellis) Whitaker.

Sharon married Jess Power on July 2, 1955 in Oklahoma City, Oklaa. They were married for over 58 years.

She is survived by her loving husband Jess Power of Seminole, Okla., two sons, Kenneth Power of Tishomingo, Okla., and Bruce Power of Oklahoma City, Okla., two daughters, Debra Holson of Panama and Susan Welcher of Okemah, Okla., a brother Westley Whitaker of Luther, Okla., and a sister Kay Holder of Prague, Okla. She is also survived by her grandchildren Michelle, Rachael, Kyle, Samantha, Debra, Markie and Summer along with nine great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held 2:00 P.M., Friday, October 4, 2013 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.

Harold Presley

Harold Richard Presley, 80 year-old, lifelong Seminole resident passed from this life Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012 at Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City.

He was born Apr. 16, 1932 in Seminole to parents Henry Presley and Sarah (Armstrong) Presley.

Harold attended Bowlegs Public School; he later served two years in the Oklahoma National Guard.

Early on he worked in the oilfield then later worked as the maintenance manager at Hillcrest Apartment Complex in Seminole.

He married Mary Sue (Minter) on June 22, 1971 in Seminole.

The couple owned and operated H&S Refrigeration Service before their retirement.

After receiving his Commercial pilot’s license, Harold enjoyed flying private citizens to many destinations.

He was an avid gardener. He loved going on camping trips with his family.

Harold and Sue loved to travel and made many trips to Hawaii and enjoyed cruising the Caribbean.

Harold was a member of the Seminole First Baptist Church, the Seminole Masonic Lodge where he was a 32nd degree mason, the Seminole Airport Club and Seminole Lions Club.

Harold leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 41 years, Mary Sue Presley of the home; one daughter, Teresa Duncan and husband, David of Seminole; one step-daughter, Sherrie Tipken and husband, Dale of Shawnee; two sons, Danny Presley and wife, Ella of Bowlegs, Doug Presley and wife LeaAnn of Seminole; one step-son, Roy Black of Seminole; two brothers, Bob Presley (Martha) of Duncan, Okla., Gerald Presley (Sonya) of El Reno; one sister, Lorene Hack (Louis) of Seminole; one sister-in-law, Ilda Mae Presley of Tecumseh; eight grandchildren, Kayla Akins, Brandon Presley, Tassie Barlow, Heather Hanmer, Josh Presley, Cord Presley, Cassie Cawyer and Sommer Tipken; 11 great grandchildren and a host of other family and dear friends, and one very special friend, his dog, Murphy.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Sarah Presley; and by twin grandchildren, Tuff and Ted Presley; two brothers, Ray Presley of Seminole and Charles Presley of Seminole; and one sister, Pauline Presley.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, Jan. 4, 2013 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole. Pastor Marvin Kehl will officiate the service and interment will follow at Little Cemetery north of Seminole.

Funeral services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, 1001 N. Milt Phillips Ave. in Seminole.

Ida Presley

Ilda Mae Presley, 86, longtime Seminole resident died Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013 at Sunset Estates Nursing Home in Tecumseh, Okla.

Ilda Mae was born April 13, 1927 in Weleetka, Okla. to Elmar Oscar and Ida Mae (Justice) Henson.

Mrs. Presley was a bookkeeper for Ray Presley Welding Company and Ray Young Well Service for many years.

She attended Texas Christian University for a while and in 1970 returned to further her education at East Central University in Ada, Okla. where she received her master’s degree in Business Education.

Mrs. Presley taught business education at Maud High School and later at Seminole High School where she retired.

Mrs. Presley was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Seminole where she was very active.

She married Ray Presley at the First Baptist Church in Seminole on June 26, 1949 and he preceded her in death on Aug. 24, 1996.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Roger and Lou Presley of Euless, Tex. and two daughters and sons-in-law Rita and Ken Baker of College Station, Tex. and Ruth Ann and Philip Larman of Tecumseh, Okla.; one sister Wynona Pickard of Brownwood, Tex. and her six grandchildren Scott Presley, Sherry Jennings, John Hixon, Trace Larman, Chad Larman, Alana Presley and seven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ray Presley and one son, Ray "Skip" Presley on Sept. 18, 1998.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Seminole, Okla. with Rev. Marvin Kehl officiating. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.

Donnie Quinalty

Donnie Wayne Quinalty, life long Seminole county resident died Sunday, May 12, 2013 in Oklahoma City, Okla. at the age of 62.

He was born Feb. 20, 1951 in Seminole, Okla. to parents Floyd H. and Norma Jean (Birkicht) Quinalty.

He served in the United States Army in 1970 to 1972, during the Vietnam War.

He was a truck driver.

He married Hope (Hunter) Quinalty on June 11, 1990 in Denton, Tex.

He is survived by his wife, Hope Quinalty of the home; two daughters, Jeanie Quinalty and Shawna Quinalty both of the home and his father, Floyd Quinalty of Seminole, Okla; and a sister, Theresa Davis of Seminole, Okla.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Norma Jean Quinalty; and two sisters, Sharon Rose Quinalty and Delorse Jean Quinalty.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday May 16, 2013 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Larry Chesser will officiate. Burial will take place at Little Cemetery, Little, Okla.

Serving as Casket bearers are Billy Bowman, Chucky Morphis, Heath Cannon, Jeff Dinwiddie, John Castro, Claude Smith;

Honorary bearer is Billy Bowman.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole, Okla.

James Quinalty

James O. Quinalty of Seminole, Okla. was born in Booneville, Ark. to Dess and Ethel Quinalty.

As a child, his family moved from Ark. to Seminole, Okla. James and his brothers attended school until it was necessary for them to work and help support the family.

He married Wanda Bernice Jackson, and together they had two daughters and a son. James joined first C.C. Camp and then the U.S. Army.

James remarried in 1952, to Bessie Locke (Quinalty) and together they had two sons.

After he left the Army, James worked for Independent Tank Co. building bolted steel oil tanks.

James was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Juanita Quinalty, and his brothers John, Daniel, Louie and Virgil Quinalty.

He is survived by his daughters Joann and Louise, and his sons James, Lloyd, and Mitchell. He is also survived by his brothers W.F (Bill) Quinalty, and Floyd Quinalty.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, September 26, 2013 at Gleaners Holiness Church at 1:00 p.m. Burial at Oakwood Cemetery will follow the service

Jimmie Ramsey

Jimmie O. Ramsey was born Nov. 23, 1945 to Alvin and Irene Ramsey in El Paso, Ark.

Jimmie crossed over on July 27, 2013 at his home in Shawnee surrounded by family.

Jimmie’s family moved from Arkansas to Oklahoma in 1958.

He grew up in the Spaulding, Okla. area, graduating from Spaulding High School in 1963.

Jimmie lived in Arizona, Nevada, Utah, California, as well as Oklahoma.

He loved to travel and loved adventures.

He loved being around his family but loved to travel which took him away from family at times.

Jimmie spent the last years of his life in the Shawnee area where he became strongly involved in his church and community.

He was an ordained deacon at Good Shepherd Chapel in Shawnee. He donated much of his time at the church and the mission.

Jimmie seldom missed an opportunity to share the Gospel with anyone he came in contact with.

There is not enough room or time to list all the great attributes of Jimmie’s life. He truly loved God, his family and friends, but most of all Jimmie loved to live and loved to give.

Jimmie’s life is so intertwined with all of our lives that his memories will never be forgotten, but will live on with us and through us.

Jimmie is survived by seven brothers, Raymond of Wewoka, Ray and wife, Pat of Griffithville, Ark., Nelson and his wife, Brenda of Noble, Okla., George also of Noble, Morris and wife, Margaret of Griffithville, Ark., Billy and wife, Georgie of Marlow, Okla., and Bobby and wife, Georgia of Seminole; three sisters, Elsie Burrell and husband, Charles of St. Paul, Ark., Ann Perkins and husband, Cookie of Harrah, Okla., and Barbara Morrison and husband, James of Holdenville.

He is also survived by over 112 nieces and nephews who were very dear to him.

Jimmie is also survived by his companion and faithful friend, Moo.

Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Irene Ramsey; his brother, Johnnie; sister, Mary Southard; brother in law, Cleo Southard; sister in law, Betty Ramsey; and two infant siblings.

A memorial service was held on Monday, July 29, 2013 at The Good Shepherd Chapel.

A celebration of Jimmie’s life will be held at a later date.

Jimmie requested in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Good Shepherd Chapel, 126 South Center, Shawnee, OK 75801.

Raymond Ramsey

In Loving Memory of Raymond E. Ramsey

Raymond E. Ramsey, age 72 years departed this life Monday, Nov. 25, 2013 in Oklahoma City, Okla.

Born March 8th, 1941, in El Paso, Aak. to the late Randall Alvin and Bertie "Irene" (Ridings) Ramsey.

Raymond's family moved to Oklahoma from Arkansas in 1958.

Soon after that Raymond went to work for the Timmons' family where he learned to operate a bulldozer.

Raymond said many times that he was an operator and others just knew how to run a dozer.

He worked for the Stafford family for many years as well. He worked for others but was most happy when he owned and operated his own dozer.

He loved working, fishing, spending time with his grandchildren, and sitting around telling stories.

Raymond married Betty Glass March 29, 1962 in Ada, Okla. She precedes him in death Feb. 10, 2005 and he would always say he missed her so very much.

Also preceding Raymond in death are his parents; one son, Tony Ramsey; two infant siblings; two brothers, Johnny Ramsey and Jim Ramsey and a sister, Mary Southard.

Survivors include children Teresa Smith and husband Mitch of Flower Mound, Tex., Mike Ramsey of Seminole, and Kim Rogers of Wewoka; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Bobby Ramsey and wife Georgia of Seminole, Bill Ramsey and wife Georgie of Marlow, Okla., Barbara Morrison and husband Jim of Holdenville, Ann Perkins and husband Otha "Cookie" of Harrah, Okla.; Morris Ramsey and wife Margaret of Griffithville, Ark., George Ramsey of Noble, Okla., Nelson Ramsey and wife Brenda of Noble, Okla., Ray Ramsey and his wife Pat of Griffithville, and Elsie Burrell and husband Charles of St. Paul, Ark.; and a host of other relatives and friends which includes over 100 nieces and nephews who loved him very much.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29, 2013 at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel with Bobby Ramsey as speaker. Burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery next to the love of his life.

Pallbearers will be Jim Stafford, Dale Stafford, Alvie Martin, Wes Richardson, Shane Azlin, and Mike Goodson.

Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons, Derek Ramsey, Anthony Ramsey, Jeremy Ramsey, Dylan Ramsey, Austin Smith, and Chance Smith.

Arrangements are by Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.
