Aaron Nathan Rice age 25 of Tecumseh, Okla. passed away March 2, 2013 in Tecumseh.
He was born Dec. 29, 1987 to Mike and Kathy Rice in Oklahoma City, Okla.
Aaron lived and attended McCloud schools from first to seventh grade, later home schooled until graduating living in Stella and then moving to Tecumseh.
He lived life with zeal and played bass guitar at Mending Hearts Ministries Church for eight years.
Aaron was never afraid of hard work and was an expert trim carpenter with a great reputation.
He enjoyed noodling, bow fishing and shooting guns.
Aaron liked motorcycles, pretty girls and hanging out with his friends.
He finally lost his battle with cancer on March 2, 2013 and now is in Heaven.
Aaron was preceded in death by his two grandpas, Bill Rice and Ancel Howeth.
Those left to cherish his memories are his parents, Mike and Kathy Rice of Tecumseh; sister and brother-in-law, Laura and Kevin Pierson of Harrah; niece, Bailey Dawn Pierson of Harrah; grandmothers, Hellen Kaiser and Alta Howeth.
Public visitation will begin 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 3, 2013 and continue until service time at Cooper Funeral Home.
Service will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at Sharon Baptist Church with Reverend David Tompkins of Mending Hearts Church officiating.
Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
William Rice
William Cecil "Bill" Rice, 87, Shawnee resident, died Tuesday, June 4, 2013 in Oklahoma City, Okla.
William was born June 3, 1926 in Wagoner County, Okla., to Cecil and Violet (Williams) Rice.
Bill was a longtime former Seminole and Wewoka area resident who has lived in Shawnee for the past few years.
After Bill graduated from Vamoosa High School, he entered the U.S. Navy serving in the South Pacific during World War II where he spent 3 1/2 years and was discharged on Nov. 4, 1947 as a Yoeman 2nd Class.
Bill worked for the Homestake Oil Company as their Oilfield Production Manager.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge at Wewoka, Okla., a member of the First Baptist Church of Bowlegs, Okla. and was a lifetime member of the V.F.W.
Bill loved hunting, fishing, horseback riding, his computer and watching football.
Bill married Norma Jean Northcott on Sept. 22, 1946 in Yuma, Ariz.
Bill is survived by his wife of 67 years, Norma Jean Rice, of Shawnee, Okla.; his two daughters, Linda D. Montgomery and her husband Mike of Ft. Worth, Tex. and Cheryl J. Yacone and her husband Frank of Baton Rouge, La.; two grandsons, Michael Montgomery of Dallas, Tex., and Tony Yacone of Baton Rouge, La., granddaughter Kristie Yacone of Baton Rouge, La.; a brother, Marion "Hoot" Rice and his wife Pauline of Ada, Okla. and a sister, Bet Rice Moran of Edmond, Okla., and many nieces and nephews.
His parents and a brother, Donald Ray Rice, preceded him in death.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 7, 2013 at the Trinity Chapel inside Resthaven Memorial Park in Shawnee, Okla. with Rev. Doyle O. Long officiating.
The U.S. Navy will provide military honors at the service.
Funeral service arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Okla.
George Richards
April 7, 1952 - May 9, 2013
George D. Richards, life long Seminole resident, passed away Friday, May 9, 2013 at the age of 61, in Seminole, Okla.
George was born April 7, 1952 to parents, Floyd Richards and Louise (Sanderson) Richards in Seminole, Okla.
George married Joann McConnell on Aug 3, 1973 in Texas.
He loved spending time with his family, fishing and camping.
George worked in the oil field all of his life, and was of the Baptist faith.
George is survived by his wife, Joann of the home; two daughters, Michele Smith of Yukon, Okla, Gina Wilson of Seminole, Okla; one brother, Jerry Richards of Calvin, Okla; four grandchildren, Destry Jackson, Ansley Jackson, Briana Allison and Paytyn Dunn; a niece, several cousins, a host of other family and friends.
George was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Louise Richards.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating. Burial will take place at Little Cemetery.
Serving as casket bearers are Jerry Richards, Chris Abshire, Justin Dunn, Marshand Fleming, Jim Hearrell and Wes Elliott.
Honorary bearers will be Destry Jackson, Marvin McConnell, Larry Taylor, Bobby McConnell and Eugene Ranells.
Services are under the directions of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole, Okla.
Ronnie Robbins
Ronnie Robbins, Seminole resident died Monday, Nov. 4, 2013.
He was born Dec. 20, 1958 to Earmond and Norma Robbins.
He lived in Seminole most of his life and graduated from Seminole High School.
Ronnie married Darla Alsip on July 16, 1999.
He loved going to Lake Eufaula and the local casinos.
He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Seminole.
He is retired from Tinker Air Force Base.
Preceding him in death are his parents.
Survivors include his wife of the home; son, Nick Merritt of the home; sisters, Rosalea Robinson of Dallas, Tex., Penny and her husband, Mark Claborn of Seminole; one niece and two nephews.
There are no services planned at this time.
Cremation services were provided by Affordable Cremations in Oklahoma City.
Audrey Roberts
Audrey Eulene (Fowler) Roberts, 98, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2012 in Wolf, Okla.
She was born Jan. 19, 1914 in Fayette County, Ala., Audrey was one of seven children born to Arrabelle Francis (Lucas) and Daniel Moody Fowler.
She moved to Seminole County in 1917 where she lived for 96 years.
Audrey graduated from Wolf High School in 1932.
She married Roy Arvle Roberts on Aug. 24, 1935 in Ada. He preceded her in death in 1998.
Audrey was a homemaker and also a cook at the Wolf School Cafeteria.
She was the historian for the Wolf Alumni Association until her death. She kept all the records and would give reports at the annual alumni banquet.
She worked with the Seminole County Election board for many years, member of the Wolf Home Demonstration Club, and was longtime Secretary/Treasurer for the Wolf Security Patrol.
She attended Wolf Freewill Baptist Church and was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Wolf, before it merged with the Freewill Baptist Church.
Mrs. Roberts is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Lendell and Roberta Roberts of Midwest City and Freelin and Doris Roberts of Alva, Okla.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Debra Lynn Goodwin and her husband Klay, Kimberly Denise Nahom and her husband Dave, Barry T. Roberts and his wife Leslie, Kenneth Andrew Roberts, and Kellie Andrea Roberts; her great grandchildren Jordan Snyder, Jesse Snyder, Hailey Bell, Mason Roberts, Casey Roberts, Katerine Nahom and Samantha Nahom. Many nieces and nephews also survive her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roy Roberts; and siblings, Burvle Fowler, John Fowler, M.D. Fowler, Minnie Dollen, Margie Elliott and Woodrow Fowler.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, Jan. 4, 2013 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Allen Wood officiating. Burial will follow at Wolf Cemetery.
Her grandchildren will be casket bearers at the service.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
Velma Roberts
Wewoka resident Velma Ree Roberts died Monday, Dec. 24, 2012 in Midwest City at the age of 83 years.
She was born Feb. 23, 1929 in Sasakwa to Namon Barkus and Calvaline Lottie.
She owned and operated City Cab Taxi service in Wewoka for a number of years.
Preceding her in death are her parents; husband, Oscar Carl Roberts; daughters, Virginia Spencer and Lavetta McKnight; two brothers, Andrew "Andy" Barkus and Joe Tom Barkus; and a sister, Dixie Lee Davis.
Survivors include children, Linda Napoleon of Holdenville, Marilyn Guient of Wewoka, Russell Roberts Sr, of Shawnee, Don Roberts of Oklahoma City, Treva Edwards of Oklahoma City, step-daughter, Cheryl Cochran of Lima, Okla.; twenty grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013 at First United Methodist Church in Wewoka with Rev. Clarence Prevost and burial at Westwood Cemetery.
Vernon Robinson
First Sergeant Vernon Bev Robinson, veteran of U.S. Army and devoted husband and father whose life blessed so many passed away on Sept. 4, 2013 in San Antonio, Tex.
He was born on Feb. 23, 1939 in Okemah, Okla.
Rob is preceded in death by his parents, Cecil "Pete" Robinson and Lorene Smith Robinson; his wife, Julie Robinson; sisters, Mary Ellen, Nancy; and his brother, Joe.
He is survived by his son, Vernon Dean; his daughter-in-law, Sira; his daughter, Rahnae Johnson; his son-in-law, Frederick Johnson; granddaughters, Nikita Purdy and Hannah Robinson.
Rob is also survived by his brother, Dal Robinson, and his wife, Carlotta; along with several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
First Sergeant Robinson served for 23 years in the U.S. Army.
During that time, he toured Korea, France and Okinawa.
He was a dedicated sports director, managed recreational facilities, and officiated sporting events.
In his Army career, he coached the All Army Softball Team to victory.
At the end of his life, the most important thing that Rob did was to dedicate his life to Jesus Christ.
The service was held Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. at Bethany United Methodist Church with a procession to follow to Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
