Louis "Shorty" Snodgrass, 66 year-old long time Konawa, Okla. resident passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2013. He was born on July 19, 1947 in Doniphan, Missouri to parents Quincy Snodgrass and Maxine (Woodruff) Snodgrass.
He is survived by his two sisters, Ruth Cooper and Sue Snodgrass both of Seminole, Okla., daughters Shelly Fixico of Oklahoma City, Okla., Melissa (Snodgrass) McBroom of Owasso, Okla., Lacy Lehman of Konawa, Okla., and Sherry Adams of Ada, Okla. Sons, Louis Wade Snodgrass of Seminole, Okla., Corky Joe Snodgrass of Wewoka, Okla., and Quincy Colter Snodgrass of Konawa, Okla., and 15 grandchildren.
Snodgrass is preceded in death by two brothers, Jim W. Snodgrass, and Jack Snodgrass.
The Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 2, 2014 at Spring Baptist Church located west of Sasakwa on Hwy. 56 with Tim Harjo and Farron Coody officiating. Interment will follow at Wolf Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be: Sons, Grandsons, and Nephews.
Honorary bearers will be: Jeff Cavett, Keith Williams, Larry Harris, and Cheddy Brown.

Robert Snow
Robert "Bob" Snow, 77, longtime Seminole resident died Saturday, March 30, 2013 in Seminole, Okla.
Bob was born Dec. 3, 1935 in St. Louis, Mo. to Kenneth Augustus and Opal (Clark) Snow.
Bob came to Seminole in 1990 from Albuquerque, N.M.
Bob was a home builder for the majority of his working life, however he was involved in many other occupations. He foremost was a carpenter, roofer, home builder, construction manager for a mobile home factory, mobile home repo manager, Mobile home sales dealer, welder, truck driver, caretaker for the elderly, car salesman, bar tender at the Elks Lodge a warehouse manager and night security guard. He always said he was a "Jack of all Trades."
Bob was a member of the Glad Tiding Assembly of God in Seminole.
He was a retired firefighter after 13 years of service with the Strother Fire Department.
He loved to joke with people and tell jokes, he loved to go to Wal-Mart and give the people there a "hard time, " he loved to play golf and build birdhouses and have coffee with the morning "McDonalds Coffee Group" and have coffee at the Bridge.
Bob was also involved in "Big Brother/Big Sister" and a member of "BACA"
He was married to Kathy (Payton) Snow on Jan. 11, 1992 in Seminole. God blessed their lives and marriage and gave them 21 wonderful years together.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy of the home; three sons, Bobby Snow and wife, Vena of Ponca City, Okla., Danny Snow and wife, Toni of Joplin, Mo. and Karson Stevens of the home in Seminole; six daughters, Debe Hauschild and husband, Rick of Edmond, Okla., Sandy Snow Ray and husband, Darrell of Oklahoma City, Okla., Nancy Gilliam and husband, Dan of Bartlesville, Okla., Laurie Eby and husband, Marc of Edmond, Okla., Keona Stevens of the home in Seminole, Okla., and Penny Stevens-Jennings of Stockton, Calif.
He is also survived by two brothers, Ken Snow and wife, Carol of San Juan Bautista, Calif. and Ed Snow and wife, Patsy of Whitney, Tex.; and one sister, Genny Fellers of Decatur, Ill.
Bob is also survived by his grandchildren, Lauren West Hauschild, Richard Lee Hauschild III, Lacey Brewer, Kara Johnson, Jacob Bell, Pamela Snow, Krystine Snow, Maddie Snow, Jamie Jo Snow, Michael Snow, Matthew Snow, Jessica Baker, Brittney McKinney, Chelsea Gilliam, Tyler Gilliam, Coleman Eby, Cailin Eby and Camryn Eby; and 12 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a granddaughter, Ryanne West Hauschild.
Funeral Services will be Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Brock Barrett officiating with Rev. Gary Pollard assisting. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Dale Smith, Vernon Pickett, Bill Scott, Mark McCown, Calvin Perry, C.E. Richardson and Gary Dutton.
Honorary bearer will be Steve Pulley.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Okla.
Mabel Sowder
Funeral services for Mabel Lee Sowder will be held Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Okemah. Interment will follow at the Schoolton Cemetery in Seminole County.
Mabel Lee Sowder was born Oct. 23, 1927 in Okemah to Clifford Barnes and Minnie Myrtle (Tinkle) Barnes.
She passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at her home in Cromwell at the age of 85.
Mrs. Sowder had been a longtime resident of the Cromwell area.
She and William Fred Sowder were married Jan. 1, 1947 in Okemah.
Mrs. Sowder retired after working as a machinist with Hayes Axel Company in Seminole.
She enjoyed gardening, traveling and especially spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids.
She is preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; and one sister.
She is survived by her husband, William Fred Sowder of the home; two sons, Larry Dean Sowder and Kerry Sowder both of Cromwell; one daughter, Sherry Vaught of Cromwell; three brothers, Ronnie Barnes of Sapulpa, Bobby Barnes of Ponca City and Phillip Barnes of Cromwell; one sister, Phyllis Curry of Cromwell; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Todd Vaught, Aaron Sowder, Jason Teson, Jeremy Sowder, Justin Sanders and George Story.
Honorary bearers include Joshua Sowder and Eric Sowder.
Services will be under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating.
Viewing and visitation will be Thursday 12:00 – 5:00 p.m. and Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home.
Willetta Sparks
Willetta Faye Sparks was born Aug. 12, 1937 and passed away on Sunday March 3, 2013 after a long battle with cancer. She was 75 years old.
Willetta was born in Tyler, Texas in 1938. Shortly after her birth to Bill and Ruth Allen, the family relocated to Seminole where Willetta grew up and graduated from Seminole High School.
After graduation she married Bill Sparks of Konawa on June 9, 1955. Bill preceded Willetta in death Nov. 15, 2008 after 53 wonderful years of marriage.
Willetta and Bill raised three children, William (Bill) Sparks of Tulsa, Gaye Dawn Catcher who passed away in August of 2012, and Robert Dean Sparks of Tahlequah, Okla.
Willetta had two brothers, James D. Pemberton who preceded Willetta in death and Charles F. Pemberton of Seminole.
Willetta had five grandchildren and two great grandchildren at the time of her death.
Willetta was educated with an associate’s degree in psychology from Seminole Junior College.
She held a cosmetology license and worked in Seminole for a number of years as a hairdresser until she and Bill moved to McAlester in 1973.
Willetta then began her career as a baker for Humpty Dumpty and later finished her working career with Braum’s as a store manager.
When her husband Bill retired from the O.S.B.I. in 1990 they spent the next 18 years enjoying retirement, traveling and caring for their grandchildren.
At Willetta's request, graveside services will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2013.
Under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole, Okla. Chris Stinnett will officiate at the service.
Angela Spencer
Angela Lynn (Harjo) Spencer, 45, resident of Konawa, Okla. died Friday, March 29, 2013 at Valley View Regional Hospital in Ada, Okla.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 2 at Middle Creek Baptist Church #2 of Holdenville under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa.
George Harjochee and David Harjo and LeRoy King will officiate. Burial will follow at the Emarthle Family Cemetery in Konawa.
Pallbearers are Bill Foster, George Franks, Jeremy Alberson, Michael Hudson, Travis Harjo, and Nelvin Hudson.
Honorary Pallbearers are David Lankford, Tyler Harjo, Jimpsey Factor, Ryan Cloud, and Jared Johnson.
A wake service was scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Monday night, April 1 at the church.
She was born July 31, 1967 in Claremore, Okla. to Ema Harjo.
She married Maurice Spencer on Dec. 5, 2003 in Seminole, Okla.
She worked as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant for the New Horizon Nursing Home in Konawa.
She is survived by her husband, Maurice Spencer and one son, Nicholas Paulson, both of the home; her mother, Ema Harjo of Konawa; two brothers, David Harjo of Lawton, Okla. and Marcus Harjo of Konawa; and one sister, Cindy Hudson of Seminole.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Wisey Emarthle.
Jimmie Spencer
Jimmie Leon Spencer, 90, Oklahoma City, Okla. resident died April 26, 2013 at the Timberwood Assisted Living Center in Midwest City, Okla.
Jimmie was born Aug. 20, 1922 in Seminole County to Billy and Willie Mae (Johnson) Spencer.
Jimmie grew up in Seminole county and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard the U.S.S. San Francisco in the battle at Guadalcanal where he was severely wounded when Japanese planes attacked the San Francisco.
After he recovered enough he was transferred to the U.S.S. Spica, a transport ship that took supplies to the Bering Sea.
After the service he found work with the Santa Fe railroad and Van’s Bakery, and then was called to Tinker Air Force Base. His job there was calibrating plane instruments and he received several awards for finding defects and cash awards for instrument improvements.
He retired from Tinker Air Force Base in 1976.
Prior to his Military service he served as youth training group director for Young Native American Indians and also served in the Civilian Conservation Corp in Guthrie, Okla.
He was also a life member of the Veterans of Foreign War, Midwest City, Okla. post #7192, where he served on funeral details and was a past commander.
Jimmie is survived by his wife, Lillyn of Midwest City, Okla.; two sons, Bill Spencer and his wife, Mary of Owasso, Okla. and Robert Smith and his wife, Judy of Choctaw, Okla.; four daughters, Linda Spencer of Tulsa, Okla., Dona Cantebury and her husband Ed of Oklahoma City, Okla., Sue Krauss and her husband Jeff of Oklahoma City, Okla. and Sherry Maynor of Midwest City, Okla.; one brother, John Smith and his wife Barbara of Seminole, Okla. and one sister-in-law, Bessie Spencer, a special niece, Glennie Snodgrass, twelve grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, James, Alford and Benny; and a sister, Daisy Sandfur.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at the Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Okla. with burial following at Little Cemetery. Mark Balthrop and Jeff Krauss will officiate at the service.
Casket bearers will be Brandon Smith, Bradley Smith, Joe Warren, Corky Snodgrass, Colter Snodgrass and Stacie Harjo.
The family would like to thank the staff of Timberwood Assisted Living and Tosha, Chelsie and Chaplin’s Mark and Martin of Crossroads hospice and James McFadden, Sunbeam volunteer.
Memorial donations may be made in lieu of flowers to Crossroads Hospice.
