Terry Thornton

Terry Allen Thornton, lost his seven year battle with cancer on April 22, 2013.

He was born on May 27, 1958 in Casa Grande, Ariz. to Jimmy and Betty (Smart) Thornton.

He was the youngest of four boys. Shortly after he was born, the family moved to Shafter, Calif., where he attended school.

He met Cammie Lamirand, who became his first wife and they moved to Bakersfield together, they had three children.

Terry worked for over thirteen years at Cawelo Water District, located east of Shafter.

In the early 1990’s they moved to Shawnee, Okla.

Terry eventually went to work for the city of Midwest City, Okla.

His first marriage ended, and then he met his soul mate, Vivian Jay in 1997. Together they were able to start several successful businesses and had the last sixteen years together.

He has a life-long passion for working on cars and motorcycles.

In 2001 they discovered Eureka Springs, Ark. They loved the town so much they created a beautiful home there where all of the bike family came up every Memorial Day weekend from all over the last seven years.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Thornton; mother, Betty Odom; step-father, Jim Odom; oldest brother, Michael Thornton; and grandparents, Jesse and Ethel Thornton and Dan and Ruth Smart.

He is survived by Vivian Thornton of the home; older brothers, Steven Thornton and wife Barbara of Bakersfield, Calif. and David Thornton and wife Beverly of Shafter, Calif.; kids and grandkids, William Thornton, Valerie and husband Joe Lehenbauer and Carrie Thornton all of Tecumseh, Okla., Stephen Thomas of Helena, Okla., Crystal Rose of the home, Carmie Shae Chazel of Seminole, Okla., Jeff and Caroline Adams, Paige Adams, Payton Adams and Preston Thornton all of Sandy Valley, Nev., Zachary Thornton and Tonya Thornton both of Shawnee, Okla.; numerous nieces and nephews; and numerous adopted Bar Family. He had so many adopted kids and Bar, Bike and Eureka Springs family too numerous to list.

Visitation was from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. Friday, April 26, 2013 and from 8:30 a.m. until service time Saturday, April 27, 2013 at the Nelson’s Chapel of the Springs.

Funeral service was 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 27, 2013 at the Nelson’s Chapel of the Springs with Beau Zar Satori officiating. Interment followed the service in the Eureka Springs Cemetery under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service, Inc. Online condolences may be sent to the family at nelsonfuneral.com

Wayne Thornton

Wayne Dalton Thornton, 88 year-old Seminole, Oklahoma resident passed from this life Friday, May 17, 2013 at Pioneer Care Center in Seminole. He was born April 6, 1925 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to parents Mable Irene (Underwood) Thornton and John DeWitt Thornton.

Wayne served in the United States Marine Corp during World War II where he earned the rank of Corporal and had served in the Asiatic Pacific Area; Solomon Island; Ryukyu Island; Marianas Island and China. Wayne participated in action against the Japanese on Okinawa and in the occupation of China.

Wayne married Shirley Herring on July 26, 1957 in Oklahoma City, Okla.

Wayne worked as a Service Technician at Tinker Air Force Base in Midwest City before his retirement in 1983. Then in November of 1990 the couple moved to Seminole from Midwest City.

Survivors include his wife of almost 56 years, Shirley (Herring) Thornton of the home in Seminole; three daughters and sons-in-law, Davidian "Dee" Wagner and her husband Paul of Oklahoma City, Okla., Rachel Clothier and her husband Gene of Clinton, Okla., Theresa Wilson and her husband Billy of Mount Ida, Ark.; seven grandsons; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and a host of other family and dear friends.

Wayne is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Nora Belle (Lasley) Thornton who died in 1956; one daughter, Faith Johnson Thornton who died in 1982; and by three sisters, Imogene Gillham, Johnece Smysor, and LaRue McCrackin.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole with Military Honors. Pastor Brock Barrett will officiate the service. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Resthaven Memory Gardens located at 500 S.W. 104th & Walker Ave. in Oklahoma City, Okla.

Casket bearers will be his grandsons, Scott Johnson, Brett Johnson, Steve Wagner, Keith Wagner, Glen Clothier, Kevin Clothier and Travis Wilson.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Okla.

Robert Threlkeld

Robert Threlkeld, 65, died Jan. 3, 2013.

He was born on Oct. 24, 1947 to Alvin and Edith Threlkeld.

He began his teaching career on a Navajo Reservation in Shiprock, N.M. After a few years he and his family moved to Moore, Okla. where he spent 25 years as a teacher, coach, and athletic director at Highland West Jr. High School.

He is survived by his wife, Thurza; his mother, Edith; two daughters, Jennifer Smith of Guthrie, Okla. and Robin Holly of Stillwater; and a grandson; granddaughter; one brother, Michael of Cortez, Colo.; and one sister, Marla Lehman of Estancia, N.M.

Robert is preceded in death by his father, Alvin.

Services will be held Tuesday Jan. 8, 2013 at Faith Crossing Baptist Church at 10:00 a.m.

Cory Tiger

Cory Allan Tiger age 20 of Holdenville, Okla., passed away Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013 in Chandler, Okla.

He was born June 13, 1993 in Ada, Okla. to Brian Tiger and Jaynie McKane Tiger.

Cory was a graduate of New Lima school and a criminal justice student at Seminole State College.

He enjoyed drawing, writing books, running 5K's and spending time with his special niece Chloe, his side kick and other friends and relatives.

He was baptized June 18, 2000 by Rev. Billy Joe Harjo at Spring Church.

Preceding Cory in death are his grandparents, John and Jane McKane, and George Tiger.

Survivors include his father, Brian Tiger of Indiana; mother, Jaynie McKane Tiger of Holdenville, Okla.; two sisters, Shyan Tiger, Jaylynn McKane; and brother, Alec McKane; niece, Chloe Tiger; and aunt, Jaymie McKane.

Wake service will be 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013 at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home with Rev. Faron Coody and Jimsey Harjo officiating.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013 at Spring Church in Sasakwa with Rev. Faron Coody and Rev. Jimsey Harjo officiating.

Pallbearers will be Will Lena, Roulstan Hailey, Rex Hailey, Keith Winn, Adam Farani, Taylor Sanders, and Daniel Sanders.

Honorary bearers will be James McIntosh, Mark Sanders, Daniel Cully, Michael Owings, Tanner Edwards, Jeremy McIntosh, P.J. Poafpybitty, and Mike Edwards.

Arrangements are by Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

Edward Tiger

Edward Nolan Tiger died Aug. 29, 2013 at Kindred Hospital South in Oklahoma City.

Services were held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, in the Benson Memorial Chapel with Elder Richard Harjo officiating. Burial with military honors was in the El Reno Cemetery under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home, El Reno.

Edward was born Aug. 22, 1926 in Seminole County.

He graduated from Altus High School, received his bachelor degree from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas and a masters degree from the University of New Mexico.

He was the Director of Pupil Personnel for Concho School, Riverside Indian School in Riverside, Calif. and Mt. Edgecombe High School in Sitka, Alaska.

He was a veteran of WW II serving as a Seaman First Class in the U. S. Navy and a member of the Achena Presbyterian Church at Maud where he served as an elder.

On March 29, 1954 Edward married Evangeline Bilberry. Evangeline preceded him in death on Jan. 11, 2010.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Mindy Jones Tiger and a brother, Sylvestor "Chick" Tiger.

Edward is survivied by daughters, Terri Nguyen of El Reno and Tomi Allen of Lewisville, Tex.; sister, Lucille Chupco of Seminole; aunt, Dorothy Harjo of Seminole; grandchilden, Jonathan Nguyen, Jennifer Nguyen, Anthony Nguyen, Douglas Nguyen, Kellie Nguyen; great-grandchild, Walter Allen Lay and a host of nieces and nephews.

Margaret Tiger

Margaret Alice (Harjo) Tiger, 77, a resident of Konawa, Okla. died at her home Sunday, July 28, 2013.

She was born March 7, 1936 in Vamoosa, Okla. to Jonah Harjo and Eliza (Cully) Harjo.

She married Jackson Tiger.

A wake service is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 31st at Bird Creek Baptist Church under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa.

She will be carried from the funeral home to the church on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 1st at Bird Creek Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the Cully-Harjo Cemetery (across from Vamoosa Cemetery). Rev. Jimsey Harjo will officiate.

Pallbearers are Jack Tiger, Sr., Christopher Leetka, William Leetka, Lymon Yargee, Jr., Wesley Yargee, and Jack Tiger, Jr.

She is survived by one daughter, Mary Christine Leetka of Shawnee, Okla.; one brother, Jonah Harjo, Jr. of Seminole, Okla.; six grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jonah and Eliza Harjo; her husband, Jackson Tiger; one son, David Tiger Aguilar; one daughter, Deanna Yargee; two brothers and two sisters; and one grandson, Timothy Dean Leetka.

Kayden Tiger-Ambriz

Kayden Paul Tiger-Ambriz, infant son of Zecheriah Aaron Ambriz and Ashley Tiger died Saturday, April 6, 2013 in Yukon, Okla.

His parents Zecheriah and Ashley survive Kayden.

He is also survived by his grandmothers, LaDeana Tiger and Allyson McDaniel and Patricia Ambriz; great grandfather, Tom Jones; grandfather, Federico Ambriz; great grandmothers, Rosanna Jones and Shirley McBride; and great-great-grandmother Stella Lena.

Graveside services will be 3:00 p.m., Saturday, April 20, 2013 at the Tiger Family Cemetery South of Wewoka, Okla.

Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole is in charge of arrangements.

James Tipton

James A. "Smokey" Tipton, 79, formerly of Wewoka died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013 in Tulsa, Okla.

He was born April 5, 1933 in Wewoka to Joseph and Gladys Faye Tipton.

A Memorial service is schedule for 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013 at St. Matthews United Methodist Church in Tulsa.

His ashes will be buried at a later date in Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka.

Andrew Turnbow

Feb. 23, 1967 – Aug. 1, 2013

Andrew Allen Turnbow, 46 year-old, life-long Seminole County resident, passed from this life Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013 at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Okla.

He was born Feb. 23, 1967 in Lawton, Okla.

Andrew attended Maud Public Schools and later worked in the oilfield for many of the surrounding oil producers including, Sooner Tool, Mills Well Service and Saint Louis Well Service.

Andrew also attended Achena Presbyterian Church near Maud.

He was also a proud member of the Seminole Nation Of Oklahoma.

Andrew is survived by his father, who raised him from an infant, Jim Tatum, Sr. of Vamoosa, Okla.; three sons, Marshall Turnbow of Maud, Okla., Bradley Turnbow of Maud, Okla., David Faulkner-Turnbow of Maud, Okla.; four daughters, Keyle Turnbow of Maud, Okla., Paige Turnbow of Ada, Okla., Harley Turnbow of Ada, Okla., Chrystal Bussey of Florida; two brothers, Sonny Turnbow of Maud, Okla., Jimmy Don Tatum of Konawa, Okla.; five sisters, Anette Turnbow of Citrus Heights, Calif., Celicia Akerman of Konawa, Okla., Felicia Lumley of Ada, Okla., Latisha Culver of Strother, Okla.; three grandchildren with one on the way, Jesse Turnbow, Natalie Lamas, Johnathan Lamas; and a host of other family and dear friends.

Andrew is preceded in death by his mother, Helen Bernice (Harjo) Tatum; by his biological father, Rufus Harvey Turnbow; and by one grandson, Daniel Lamas.

Andrew will be taken to the family home located at 511 West Monroe in Maud, Okla. at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013 until 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma.

Casket bearers will be, Rickey Cline, Big Rob Wood, Stephen Boring, Barry McCrackorn, Dylan Brown friend Thomas, Buff Williams, T-Bone (Tony) Berryhill, Jerms Culver, James Votaw, Slim (Johnnie) McCrackorn, Sonny Turnbow, Jimbo Tatum, Howard Bondoni, Ringo Harjo, Vincent Bundy, Vaughn Bundy, Bigworm (Randy) Simons, Daddy (Jim) Tatum, and Jim (Bobarooski) Marty.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
