Betty Chadwell

Betty J. Chadwell, long time Seminole county resident, died Friday, May 4, 2012 in Wewoka at the age of 87.

She was born Aug. 6, 1924, in Ranger, Texas to John E. Humphrey and Gladiola Juanita (Sinner) Humphrey.

She retired from the Bar-B-Q Restaurant business with her husband, Richard "Dick" Chadwell.

She is survived by one grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Charles L. Driver and her late husband, Richard Chadwell.

Graveside memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 10, 2012 at Little Cemetery with Rev. Bill Chesser officiating.

In honor of Betty, donations may be made to Brad and Ravonda Driver at 12140 NS 3610, Seminole. Contact number is 405-382-2706.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.

Ianos Chaffin

Ianos Allen Chaffin passed away at his home in Wewoka, Sunday, July 29th, 2012.

Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday August 3, 2012 at the Wewoka Church of Christ with Dwight Parker officiating.

Interment will follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

Ianos Chaffin was born Dec. 2, 1928 in Little to Jon and Wilma (Sorrels) Chaffin.

He attended Wewoka Schools and later served in The United States Army.

Ianos worked for the Oklahoma Department of Transportation on the Survey Crew until he retired.

Ianos loved cattle ranching, hunting and the University of Oklahoma football.

Ianos is survived by his wife, Elaine Chaffin of the home; children, Janice Chaffin of Tecumseh, James and wife Toni Chaffin of Wewoka; step sons, Joey Yahola of Wewoka, David and wife Patricia Yahola of Mustang and Richard and wife Robyn Yahola of Shawnee; grandchildren, Eric, Brian, Braiden, and Savannah Chaffin, Carson and Catelyn Edwards, Jordan Reiter, Jayce, Reagan, Ryan and Riley Yahola and five great grandchildren, Kody, Caleb, Carson, Colson, and Sarah Reiter; siblings, Eula and husband A.Q. Rainey of Dallas Tx, Edith and David Potter of Shawnee, Barbara and Ed Landers of Okemah, Sherry and Tommy Moon of Dallas, Paulette and Neil Vick of Caddo Gap Arkansas, Lauretta Chaffin of Dallas and a brother-in-law, Melvin Sherrin of Dallas, Tx; a special nephew, John and Pat Rainey.

Ianos is preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Louise Sherrin and Lula Chaffin.

Pallbearers are Steve Edwards, Carson Edwards, Ryan Christ, Eric Chaffin, Bryan Cain, and Joey Yahola.

Honorary pallbearers are David O'Donnell, Chris Campbell, Eddie Neill, Raymond Cain, Tom Chesnut, and Dewayne Holland.

Dawnette Chandler

Service for Wewoka resident Dawnette Chandler are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012 at Harvest Time Tabernacle Church, Holdenville with Rev. Jimmy Freeman officiating and burial will follow at Crossroads Cemetery, Sasakwa.

She was born Jan. 8, 1960 in Holdenville to Eugene Hall and Margie (Freeman) Hernandez.

She died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012 at the age of 52.

She married David Chandler Jan. 14, 1995 in Wewoka.

She was a graduate of Wewoka High School and received an associates degree from Seminole State College.

She was the owner of a furniture store in Wewoka and Seminole.

She is preceded in death by her father, Eugene Hall.

Survivors include husband David of the home; mother, Margie Hernandez; children, Brandon McClure, Kimberly Herrell, Hunter Keith Chandler, Clayton Chandler, and Christina Chandler all of Wewoka; two sisters, Rhonda Factor and Wanda Moyer both of Wewoka; and six grandchildren.

Pall bearers will be Tammy Sneed, Aderianne Simmons, Tracey Morris, Cindy Hall, Terry Julian Sr. and Terry Julian Jr.

Honorary pall bearers will be Terrell Sanders, Donna Hudson, Vickie Carter, Darren Blanton, Doug Blanton, and Raymond Ward.

Arrangements are by Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

Deborah Chaney-Howell

Deborah A. Chaney-Howell passed away August 15, 2012.

She was born June 4, 1951 to A.B. Chaney and Etolia Carter (Chaney) Beaver in Camp Polk, Louisiana and moved to Wewoka, Oklahoma a couple of weeks later.

She graduated from Wewoka High School in 1969.

She received a B.S. in Education from the University of Oklahoma in 1979.

Debbi was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Wewoka.

She was a lover of cats and her cats were her pride and joy.

She enjoyed catching up with family and friends over the internet and set up a Facebook page for the Wewoka Alumni Association.

Debbi also loved books and was an avid reader.

She was a talented knitter and made beautiful blankets.

She enjoyed spending time with her significant other, Bryan.

Debbi was dearly loved and will be missed by her family and friends.

Debbi is survived by her son and wife, Jon and Stephanie Matthiesen of Broken Bow; her parents, A.B. and Dot Chaney of Wewoka and Toady and Ernie Beaver of Midwest City; her brother and wife, Randy and Shelly Chaney of Seminole; step-siblings, Annette Mantooth, Larry Beaver and Dennis Beaver; nieces, Devin Rodriquez and Dana Chaney; her significant other, Bryan Harris and numerous relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 558, Wewoka, OK 74884.

Bert Chesney

Longtime Wewoka resident Bert Lovel Chesney, died Sunday, Jan 8th, 2012 in Holdenville, Oklahoma at the age of 75 years.

Bert Chesney was born May 12th, 1936 in Rocky Oklahoma to Charles and Edna Sanders Chesney.

Bert graduated from Rocky High School and then attended Southwestern State College.

He married Joyce Thornton Chesney on May 3, 1957 in Clinton Oklahoma.

Bert worked and retired from the USDA as Chief of Production, Adjustment Division of the ASCS.

Bert was preceded in death by his parents; son, Bert Bradley Chesney; brother, Charles Chesney and a sister, Joada Giblet.

Survivors include wife, Joyce of the home; son, Elvin Brent Chesney of Sheboygan Wisconsin; sisters, Deana Duncan and Barbara Woodard; brother, Jerrell Chesney, nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Friday Jan 13, 2012 at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel in Wewoka. Interment will follow.

Arrangements are under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

Dub Childers Jr.

James William " Dub" Childers, Jr., went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012, in Oklahoma City, Okla.

Celebration services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012, at First Baptist Church in Seminole.

Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, with military honors. Rev. Marvin Kehl will officiate at the service.

The family will receive friends and family at a visitation on Tuesday evening, Sept. 11, 2012 at Swearingen Funeral Home from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

James is survived by his loving wife of nearly 64 years Katherine (Magnino) Childers, of the home.

Dub and Katherine have four adult children, Carolyn and John Green of Seminole, Janet Yancey Childers of Seminole, Jerry and Kathy Childers of Seminole and Ken and Cherry Childers of Pasadena, Texas.

Their grandchildren are Brandy and Jason Cross of Seminole, Nicholas and Tezarah Upton of McAlester, Christopher and Hannah Dye of Seminole, Jared and Jamie Childers of Moore, Amy and Colin Wilson of Norman, Scott and Mia Childers of Seminole, Justin and Alana Childers of Moore, Randa and Brook Boggs of Pasadena, Texas, Tyler Childers of Pasadena, Texas, Katrina Childers of Pasadena, Texas, and Whitney and Matthew Green of Moore.

Great grandchildren include Haley Presley, Cadey Riddle, Blake Presley, Dylan Cross, Sterling and Lainey Carswell, Samuel Green, Mylan and Zarah Childers, Aysnn, Aydnn, and Avery Boggs, Dallas and Logan Dye, and Desmond Childers.

He is also survived by two brothers, Vernon and Joe David, and sisters Joyce Kelley, Deloris Prewett, Deannie Issacs, and Pat Bowden; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, A.J. and Lola Magnino, Pete and Donna Magnino, and his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Christina and Johnny Watson and Ester Lue and Jerry Bryant.

He is also survived by many cousins, friends and other family members.

James was preceded in death by his father, James Childers, Sr., in September of 1975, and his mother, Effie Epperson Childers, in September of 1985; also by his brothers, Earl and Ranzy Childers; his sisters, Bessie Limke, Elsie McClanahan, and Dorothy Wall, as well as two infant siblings.

James was born on Dec. 5, 1929, in Oklahoma City. He was the sixth child to be born and the first to be born in a hospital.

Shortly after his birth the family moved to Tecumseh where he grew up, and another six children were added to the family. There were 14 children, 12 of which survived infancy.

On Oct. 9, 1948, he married Katherine Elizabeth Magnino, and they lived in Oklahoma City where Dub worked for the city of Oklahoma City.

They later moved to Shawnee, where he worked for his brother at Haney’s Gas Station.

In March of 1952, James joined the United States Marine Corps and, soon after was stationed in California.

He was an MP and guarded nuclear submarines as well as prisoners.

James received an honorable discharge on March 19, 1954, with the rank of PFC.

He received the rifleman sharpshooter award and the National Defense Service Medal.

James began working for Oklahoma Gas and Electric (OG&E) in Shawnee in August of 1954.

In 1959 they moved to Seminole where they have made their home ever since.

James retired from OG&E on Oct. 1, 1987.

James always loved to fish, but after retirement he found more free time to enjoy his favorite pasttime.

Several times a week he and his fishing buddies would head off to local lakes to enjoy a day of fishing and fellowship.

James played several instruments by ear including the guitar, banjo, mandolin and harmonica.

He enjoyed "picking and grinning" for friends and grandkids.

James is a member of First Baptist Church in Seminole where he has served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher to adults and young boys and Department Director of Adult Sunday School Classes.

He served on several committees and was always willing to help out on projects that were ongoing at the church.

He enjoyed playing his guitar and harmonica with other musicians in the church. He was always ready to volunteer to help others in need, whether it was transportation to a doctor, or helping with a repair project at home or church.

James enjoyed volunteering at the Interfaith Social Ministries in Seminole. It was said he enjoyed unloading the trucks and telling jokes.

Memorial donations in James’ name may be made to the Interfaith Social Ministries at P.O. Box 1602, Seminole, 74818.

Honorary bearers will be David Forson, D.C. Neal, Randy Neal, Herman Ritchie, Kenneth Mendenhall, Don Brooks, Bob Webster, Gus Shi, Leon Short, Dale Wallace, James Coates and R.B. Badgett.

His grandsons will be casket bearers.
