Dwayne Coon

Dwayne Delroy Coon, age 49 of Sasakwa died Wednesday, Jan 18, 2012 in Ada, at Chickasaw Nation Hospital due to a lengthy illness.

He was born July 16, 1962 in Oklahoma City to the late Rev. Arthur Coon and Eliza Carpitcher Coon.

He was retired from Leachco Company Ada Oklahoma as an hand cutter.

Preceding Dwayne in death are his parents, and sister Jeanetta Douglas.

Survivors include his children: Terra Madkins of Seminole, Sharla Marshall of Sasakwa, Shanise Coon of Sasakwa; Stepdaughters Sharon Fixico, Shawnee, Aimee Johnson, Wewoka; step-sons Earnest Harjo of Okmulgee. Sisters Margie Yazzie, of Coweta, Linda Tsadi of Krebs, Shirley Aguire of Seminole, Rebecca Larney of Wewoka, Barbara Jefferson of Seminole, Greda Williams of Ada, and Elizabeth Castillo of Seminole; one brother Arthur Coon Jr. of Okmulgee and nineteen grandchildren.

Wake Service will be 6:00 p.m., Thursday, Jan 19, 2012 at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel.

The body will be taken to the Church at 4:00 p.m. Friday for a 7:30 p.m. Wake Service, Jan 20, 2012.

Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Jan 21, 2012 at Rock Spring Baptist Church with Rev. Jimsey Harjo and Rev. Arthur Wayne Carpitche officiating and burial to follow at Rock Spring Cemetery .

Pall Bearers will be Franklin Coody Jr., Abraham Davis, Sam Wheeler, Ray Franks, Earl Davis, Walter Larney.

Honorary Pall Bearers will be Michael Jefferson, Quentin Williams, Joe Coon, Daswood Yazzie, and Eduardo Aguire.

He loved to sing Muscogee Creek Hymns. He spent his leisure time working on cars. playing basketball and spending time with his family.

Johnny Coon

Funeral services for Johnny Wesley Coon were Monday, June 18, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Prairie Spring Baptist Church in Okemah.

Interment followed at the West Anderson Cemetery.

Services were officiated by Bro. Chad Smith, Bro. Timmy Coon and Bro. Billy Coon.

Johnny Wesley Coon was born July 27, 1962 in Pawnee to Walter Coon and Lillie (Fixico) Coon.

He died Thursday, June 14, 2012 at his home in Earlsboro at the age of 49.

He had worked as a security guard and as a tribal police officer for three years.

He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include his four daughters, Jordan Lasley, Brittany Coon, Demi Coon and Alexxis Coon all of Earlsboro; three brothers, Terry Coon of Earlsboro, Timmy Coon of Welty and Billy Coon of Okemah and two sisters, Katherine Lee of Lawton and Rosie Smith of Earlsboro.

Services were under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah.

Jo Ann Coone

Jo Ann Johnson Coone – Dec.7, 1948 – Dec.17, 2012.

Jo Ann was born in San Francisco, Calif. to C.R. Johnson, Sr. and Margaret (Edwards) Johnson.

She traveled extensively throughout her life, graduating from high school in Milford, Conn.

She met her husband while attending Toccoa Falls Bible College in Georgia. Jo Ann and Jim were married in Killeen, Tex. on April 4, 1970.

Jo Ann is survived by her husband, Jim Coone of the home in Wewoka; daughter, Beth Brown (Danny) of Winston-Salem, N.C.; son, Michael Coone (Angie) of Wewoka; son, James T. Coone (Rebecca) of Columbia, Mo.; sister, Connie Sims (Danny) of Duncanville, Tex.; brothers, Ray Johnson and Steve Johnson; eight grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; and numerous friends around the world.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Jan. 10, 2012 at First Presbyterian Church Wewoka.

Jo Ann requested that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to:

Glenda Coots

Glenda Marie (Marquis) Coots, 78 year-old lifelong Seminole County resident passed from this life Monday, April 16, 1912 at her home in Seminole.

She was born Aug. 13, 1933 in Seminole County to parents Jesse Robert Marquis and Eunice Marquis.

Glenda worked for the John Deere Tractor Company as an I.B.M. and a Key Punch operator where she retired in 1986.

She was also a member of the Seminole First Baptist Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Pamela Curtis of Falls of Rough, Kentucky, Patricia Bedford of Seminole and Karen Giuffre and spouse, Wilbur Johnson of Seminole; two brothers, Billy Marquis of Big Springs, Texas and Bobby Marquis of Cromwell; three sisters, Ferrell Martin of Tulsa, Reba Duncan of Norman and Claudett Duncan of Tulsa; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and one great- great grandchild; she is also survived by a host of other family and dear friends.

Glenda was preceded in death by her parents and by one grandson, Eric Bedford.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 20, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Seminole located at 420 Reid Street.

Pastor Marvin Kehl will officiate the service.

Interment will follow at Little Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Bryan Bauer, Wilbur Johnson, Todd Upchurch, Greg Giuffre, Eddie Upchurch and Manuel Arambula.

Honorary bearers will be Michael Saxon, Jeff Giuffre and Scott Berning, II.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.

Betty Craig

Betty Jo Craig age 62 years passed away Monday evening at her residence with her family at her side.

She fought a good fight and a long hard battle and now has joined her Lord Jesus.

Wake service are scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Thursday, May 24, 2012 at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel with Russell Vickers officiating.

Graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 25, 2012 at Bender Cemetery with Aaron Alsbrook and Rev. Thomas Little officiating.

Betty Jo was born Aug. 2, 1949 in Wewoka to John and Virginia (Duncan) Bender.

She attended Wewoka schools and graduated from Norman Central High school.

She worked for Big Yank-Wrangler for a number of years.

She retired in 2012 from Creek Nation Hospital as Medical Records Clerk.

She married Joe Craig July 1, 1967.

Betty is preceded in death by her mother, Virginia Bender and brother, Mike Bender.

Survivors included her father, John Bender of Seminole; husband, Joe Craig of the Seminole home; son, Jon Craig and wife Stephanie, their children Tyler and Mason; daughter, Tammy Jo Potter and her daughters, Chelsea Smith, Jolee Smith and Hannah Potter; son, Joe Craig Jr, and wife Melissa and their children Emmersyn Craig, and Jackson Craig; sisters, Shirley Howell and husband George, of Seminole, Susie Brady of Okemah, brother, Steven Bender and wife Janie of San Antonio, TX; sister-in-law, Roberta Bender and a special sister-in-law Carolyn Hall of Purcell; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Arrangements are by Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.
