Cleda Curley

Cleda Madgeline (Rhodd) Curley, age 92, and a resident of Maud, died Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at her home.

A wake service is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 15th at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa and a Catholic Mass is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 16th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Fr. Adrian Vorderlandwehr, O.S.B. will officiate.

Pallbearer is Charlotte Shelley.

Cleda was born March 28, 1920 at Sacred Heart to John Baptist Rhodd and Adeline (Thrope) Rhodd.

She graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic School and later married Al Curley.

She was a homemaker.

She is survived by one son, Albert Curley, Jr. of Maud; one daughter, Phyliss Kuneman of Maud; two sisters, Eva Jordan of St. Louis, Oklahoma, and Johnnie Mae Tallbear of Shawnee; six grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Adeline and John Baptist Rhodd; husband, Al Curley; one daughter, Doneva Armstrong; one brother, Frank Rhodd; four sisters, Edith Nave, Hazel Williamson, Viola Allen, and Charlotte Alderson; and one granddaughter, Janet Harmon.

Foy Dacus

Foy Dacus went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, Aug. 17, 2012, at the age of 97.

He lived a very full, productive and happy life.

He was loved by his family and countless friends. This picture was taken just two weeks before his death.

Foy was born on Oct. 2, 1914, to Etta and William Noah Dacus in McAlester.

His family subsequently moved to Seminole for his dad to work in the oil industry.

He graduated from Seminole High School in 1932.

Foy worked in the advertising department of The Seminole Producer until he was hired by Chester Gates, beginning his insurance career.

He went to insurance school in Baltimore, MD.

Foy married Lucille "Lucy" Johnson on Jan. 31.1937. Foy and Lucy happily celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary this past January, something he was very proud of.

Lucy was the love of his life and their marriage was an example to all!

Foy enlisted and fought in World War II. He was a communications specialist and expert marksman in the Army Air Corps being stationed in the Philippines.

Foy purchased the agency making it Foy Dacus Insurance. He cared for each person he insured providing love and comfort when there was a loss.

He was honored by several companies he represented upon his retirement in 1978.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church where he served in many capacities locally and statewide.

Foy was a member of the Lion’s Club where he was recognized as a 50 year member.

He was a 32 degree Mason and a Shriner.

Foy absolutely loved Seminole and read The Producer daily until the day he died!

He was a Sooner fan who loved to arm-chair quarterback every game.

Foy’s Christian faith was the most important thing in his life. He was not only active in his church but at Rivergate, a life-changing retreat for men. His life was profoundly impacted by Rivergate and thus he was able to strongly affect other men. He loved assisting in the kitchen too making amazing gravy.

Foy and Lucy enjoyed a "cottage" on Lake Eufaula. He loved spending time there. He taught countless kids to water ski over the years.

Foy and Lucy traveled extensively throughout the United States in their motor home after retirement. Many summers were spent in Lake City, CO.

Foy loved life and the many friends he met and cherished along his journey.

Foy was an amazing husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He is survived by his dear wife, Lucy. Their daughter, Janie Dacus Ganyard, lives in Colorado Springs, CO, along with his grandchildren, Blake Dacus Ganyard and Sarah Ruth Sorensen ("Ruthie" to him). Dakie adored his great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Archambault, Raelea Sorensen and his namesake, Foy Sorensen. To him, Barbara Pritchard was a cherished part of his family. Foy had a sister, Susann Anderson, of Cheyenne, WY. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Foy Neil Dacus, and his brothers, Roy, Troy, Dale and Doyan.

Services will be held in Seminole at a later time.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Jasmine Moran Children’s Museum in his name.

We will miss this amazing man and are grateful for the way he touched each of our lives and the imcredible example he was.

Summer Daniel

Summer Lynn Daniel, age 38 of Guthrie, Oklahoma. She died on Thursday, March 8, 2012. Summer was born June 5, 1973 in Seminole, Oklahoma to Regina (Stewart) Guess and Mark Daniel, Sr. She graduated from Butner Public School and later moved to Guthrie, Oklahoma. Summer worked for Ash Street and Golden Age nursing, as a private care giver, and volunteered at the Guthrie Animal Shelter. Summer was preceded in death by her grandparents, Gene Stewart, Curtis and Carol Daniel.

Summer is survived by her fiancée Les Whisnant, of the home, her son Zachary Calhaun of Tularosa, New Mexico, her mother, Regina (Stewart) Guess, step-father, Albert Guess and father, Mark Daniel, Sr., brother, Mark Daniel grandmother, Marjorie Stewart.

Funeral service will be 2p.m., Saturday, March 17, 2012 at Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole. Pastor Jerry States will be officiating. Burial will take place at Sawyer Cemetery, Seminole County.

Serving as casket bearers are: Adam Stewart, Dalton Stewart, Joe Stewart, Billy Stewart, Phillip Stewart, Jr. and Terry Stone. Honorary bearers are: Phillip Stewart and Joe Chappell.

Amel Darr

Nov. 23, 1918 – Nov. 17, 2012

Amel Paul Darr a Seminole county resident for 76 years passed away Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012 at Seminole at the age of 93.

Amel was born on Nov. 23, 1918 in rural Van Buren, Arkansas to parents, Charles William Darr and Louiza (Tuggle) Darr.

Amel worked on the pipe lines in surrounding states, retired from the City of Seminole but his true love was raising cattle which he did for 75 years.

Amel was affiliated with the Assembly of God Churches and a member of Old Glory Assembly of God church for over 60 years.

Amel married Lydia Lueetta (Scott) Darr on Jan. 29, 1935 in Seminole county and Lydia preceded him in death in 2008.

Amel is survived by one son, Carl E. Darr and his wife Helen of Seminole; five grandchildren, Martha Allen, Bobby Harrelson, Sharon Stanberry, Kevin Darr and Sonya Haselton. He is also survived by 13 great grandchildren, Jessica Childers, Brad Davis, Shelby Davis, Merry Rampergash, Rachel Deatherage, Annie Harrelson, Leigh Neal, Daniel Stanberry, Isaac Stanberry, Joshua Stanberry, Hayden Darr, Garrett Darr, Journey Darr and five great great grandchildren.

Amel was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Louiza Darr; his wife, Lydia; daughter, Louise Harrelson; five brothers and six sisters.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Allen Wood officiating. Burial will take place at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens of Seminole.

Serving as casket bearers are Kevin Darr, Hayden Darr, Brad Davis and Casey Hoselton.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.

Ira Darr

Ira Lee Darr, 56, longtime Seminole resident died Sunday, March 18, 2012 in Holdenville.

Ira was born June 13, 1955 in Seminole to Edwin and Jacqulynn Joy (Allen) Darr.

He is survived by one son, Jimmy Darr of Prague; one daughter, Ashley Nicole Darr of Prague; one brother, Timothy A. Darr of Earlsboro; four nieces; three nephews; four great nieces and one great nephew.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Mark Treat.

Family services are being planned for Friday, March 30, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Freedom Assembly, 45407 Hwy 3 East in Shawnee.

Alice Davenport

Alice Davenport Holdenville resident died Monday, March 19, 2012, at the age of 64.

She was born on March 13, 1948 in Oklahoma City to Terry Rusell Valadez and Alice Abbigail Dinwiddle.

She attended Star Spencer High School.

Alice married Earnest Davenport in 1963 in Oklahoma City.

Preceding her in death are her parents, and sister Margie Nell Carruth.

Survivors include her husband, Earnest, sisters Pearleen Lewellen of Choctaw, Margie Kelley of Midwest City, and Annie Hughes of Midwest city, children Patricia Ann Arndt of Holdenville, Alicia Lynn Davenport of Midwest City, Terrie LaNell Sullivan of Arizona, Gail Baxter of Midwest City, Gary Russell Davenport of Del City, and Stacy Marie Davenport; seventeen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 24, 2012 at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel and burial will be at the Little Indian Cemetery south of Wewoka.

Paulbearers will be Tim Arndt, Lathan Baxter, Danny Sullivan, Daniel Bennett, James Emberson, and Kyle Tucker.

Arrangements are by Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

Cindy Davis

Cindy Kaye (Driskill) Davis, 64, former Seminole resident, died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012 at St. Johns Hospital in Tulsa.

She was born Nov. 30, 1948 in Shawnee to Eugene Dale and Jorene Shirley (Ingram) Driskill.

She was a former Seminole resident; who was living in Ingleside, Texas, near Corpus Christ, Texas for the past eleven years.

She graduated from Seminole High School in 1967.

She was a secretary at the Oklahoma Lions Club office in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma for seven years.

She is survived by her two sons, Robert Davis of Owasso and Michael Davis of Claremore; her daughter, Sandra Davis Anderson of Bellevue, Washington; a brother, Gene Driskill of Duncan; a sister, Connie Miller of Duncan and eleven grandchildren.

Funeral services are planned for 2:00 p.m., Friday, Oct. 12, 2012 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole with Frank Miller officiating.

Funeral services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.

Daisy Davis

Daisy Davis, 81, Tecumseh resident died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012 at the Sunset Estates Nursing Home in Tecumseh.

She was a former longtime Seminole resident who was born Oct. 1, 1930 in Miami, Oklahoma to Johnny Lee and Lily Lou Cindy (Tackett) Vincent.

She was a homemaker and also worked at Pat’s Café in Seminole for many years.

She is survived by four sons, Charles C. McNeill of Remington, Washington, Gilbert Lee McNeill of Shawnee, Vince Ray McNeill of Seminole and James Earl McNeill of Wetumka; one daughter Betty Jane Douglas of Chandler and three step-sons; Lonnie Ray Davis, Howard Davis and Michael Davis all of Shawnee; ten grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren and five great great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lonnie Davis and one son, Jimmy E. McNeill.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, with Rev. David Pollard officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole.

Casket bearers will be Don Wagstaff, Larry Smith, Justin Smith, Adrian Smith, Bill Douglas and Steven Cheatwood

Funeral services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
