James Allen Harris was born on Jan. 13, 1921 in Shawnee to August L. Harris and Lorene Thatcher Rooker.
He passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2012.
James went to elementary school at Twin Oaks in Seminole.
He also went to junior high and high school at Varnum and Strother, which are both in Seminole as well.
He went to college at Seminole Junior College for two years before being drafted into the Army.
He played college basketball and some semipro baseball with the local Seminole team.
On July 7, 1942, he was drafted into the Army and sent to Fort Sill.
He was assigned to the 126th Division of Engineers under Lt. Col. Ballard as his commanding officer.
He was also part of the 10th Mountain Division at Camp Hale, CO.
From Camp Hale he was then transferred on to Po Valley, Italy where he served during WWII.
On July 11th, 1943, he married Mary Sue Duvall and was married for 69 years.
On May 18, 1945, he began his family with their first child, James Allen Harris Jr.
James was Honorably discharged from the service of the Army in October 1945.
When James returned from the Army he and his family moved to Skellytown, TX.
While at Skellytown, James and his wife had most of their children.
The next children to be born was Betty Ann, Wayne Edward and Dorothy Sue.
It was unfortunate but James and Mary Sue lost their child, Dorothy Sue.
In 1951, James moved his family back to Seminole and began working for Sinclair Oil Co., which later became ARCO Oil and Gas.
In 1956, James and wife had their fifth and final child, Bob Lee Harris.
ARCO Oil and Gas moved James and his family several times and moved them to Plains, TX and then on to Dayton, TX in 1968.
In April of 1979, James and family moved to Liberty, TX and retired in April of 1984.
During his retirement, James continued his life with many activities.
He built scale replicas of western wagons.
He taught classes on Porcelain Lace Draping which was a lost art for many years.
He also made most of the wild flowers of Texas in Porcelain as well as many of the American Indians.
James had a hard working life beginning on a farm in Oklahoma but enjoyed his life with his wife and family.
He enjoyed 91 years before passing.
James is survived by children, James Allen Harris Jr., Betty Ann Nelson, Wayne Edward Harris and Bob Lee Harris; grandchildren, Mickeal J. Harris, John Wayne Lowe, Ronda Kay Lowe, Zackary Harris, Chelsea Nesmith, Codi Harris, Danielle Laird, Nicholas Harris and Martha Wickliffe; great grandchildren, Kristai Harris, Kaitlyn Lowe, Marlie Deason, Avery Nesmith, Taylor Holcomb, Madison Ellis, Kayla Laid, Brooklyn Tyrell and Tristan Tyrell; brother, J.D. "Jerald" Harris and sisters, Carolyn Sue Evans and Lu Ann Black.
James was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bobby Gene Harris and Paul Harris.
Services will be held Saturday, July 28 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at 117 Forest Drive, Liberty, TX

Patrick Harris
Patrick H. Harris, Jr, 61, loving husband and father, longtime Seminole resident and previous owner of Little Grocery and Deli in Little, died May 26, 2012 in Tulsa.
Patrick was born May 12, 1951 in Oklahoma City to Patrick Horace Harris, Sr. and Retha Aldean (Phillips) Harris.
Pat worked hard every day of his life.
He loved his family and they never wanted for anything.
He was a great Christian man and raised his family in the church.
He loved his life on his farm and he loved his down time on his boat.
Pat still made numerous family trips with his children and grandchildren.
He will be greatly missed.
Patrick married Robyn Sue White on May 22, 1970 in Marietta.
His wife, Robyn Sue Harris of the home survives Patrick and their children, Jennifer Merrell and her husband Jordan of Missouri City, Texas, Patrick H. Harris III and his wife Starla of Oklahoma City, and Michelle Glenn and her husband Kirby of Shawnee.
Patrick and Robyn had twelve grandchildren, Tarynn Gray, Joshua Merrell, Jade Merrell, Aubrey Harris, Jacob Harris, James Glenn, Mercedes Glenn, Jackson Glenn, Ashlee Glenn, Josiah Glenn, Jacob "Landon" Glenn and Jasper Glenn. His mother Retha Aldean Harris of Seminole, also survives Patrick.
Patrick was survived by four brothers, Michael Harris and his wife, Teri of Seminole, Russell Harris of Seminole, Dr. Dennis Harris and his wife Gay of Oklahoma City, Scott Harris and his wife Melinda of Texas and one sister, Linda Russell and her husband David of Seminole. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive him.
His father, Patrick H. Harris, Sr. and nephew Michael "Mikey" Harris Jr. preceded Patrick in death.
Funeral services are planned for 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 31, 2012 at the Highway Baptist Church in Little with burial following at Little Cemetery. Rev. Carl Whitfield will officiate at the service.
Casket bearers will be Patrick H. Harris III, Jordan Merrell, Kirby Glenn, Dennis Harris, Joshua Merrell and Steve Seay.
Funeral services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
Kenneth Harrison
Services for Wewoka resident Kenneth Harrison are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at Hilltop Indian Presbyterian Church Wewoka with Rev. Houston Tiger and Rev. Kelly Tiger Jr. officiating and burial at Spencer Family Cemetery.
He was born March 2, 1935 in Lima Stone, Oklahoma to Willie Harrison and Elsie (Yahola) Harrison.
He died Sunday, July 1st, 2012 at his residence in Wewoka at the age of 77.
He attended Lima Stone schools and Okmulgee Tech, receiving a certificate in auto body mechanic.
Prior to his retirement he worked as a laborer for Hayes Axel, Seminole.
He was a member of the Eufaula Band.
Preceding him in death are his parents; four sisters and seven brothers.
Survivors include his children, Roderick Harrison, Wewoka, Rhoda DeAnn Harrison, Wewoka and Veta Clarice Harrison Larney of OKC; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Felix Herrera Jr., Feliciano Rivera, Roy Larney Jr., Matthew Larney, Irwin Holata, and Aaron Harrison.
Honorary pallbearers will be Stefan Harrison, Marlin Shield, Amon King, and Sarney Camp.
Arrangements are by Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.
Allene Hart
Former Wewoka resident Allene Garnet Hart, passed away Monday morning, Dec. 17, 2012 in Tulsa at the age of 94 years.
She was born May 27, 1918 in Wewoka to the late Walter Eugene and Mary D. (Kemp) Casey.
Allene was a graduate of Wewoka High School and later attended Oklahoma University.
She was a member of the Wewoka Church of Christ.
Her hobbies were gardening, fishing at Wewoka lake, cooking, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Preceding Allene in death are her parents; husband, Dr. James Hart Jr.; daughters, Betty Sharon Hart, Beverly Hart; grandsons, Jason and Gregory Bingham, and son-in-law, Vernon Bingham.
Survivors include daughter Janet Bingham McCabe and husband Jack of Tulsa; son, James Hart III and wife Betty of Ft. Worth, Tex.; grandchildren, Casey Bingham, Seth Bingham, Melissa DeJesus, Amanda Keller, Trey Hart, Rayne Fitzmaurice, Chad Hart, and Kendell Campbell; twelve great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012 at Oakwood Cemetery with Aaron Alsbrook of Church of Christ officiating.
