Linda Ruth Henington, 52, Wewoka resident died Friday, Nov. 9, 2012 at her home in Wewoka.
Linda was born Sept. 21, 1960 in Wewoka to Frank Junior and Margaret Ruth (Bryant) Gore.
Linda was a member of the Bearden Holiness Church and worked as a Nurse’s Aid.
Linda is survived by a daughter, Angela Mariott of Wewoka; two brothers, Frank Jackson Gore of Seminole and John Gore of Bowlegs; eight sisters, Maggie Kilgore of Wewoka, Della Pitts of St. Louis, Brenda White of Bowlegs, Hazel Jackson of Denison, Texas, Frances Monks of Bowlegs, Mildred Kay Lee of Seminole, Eunice James of Seminole and Margaret Jackson of Denison, Texas; along with three grandchildren, Breasha Mariott, Qualen Mariott and Kahaner Mariott.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Joannie Jean Mooney.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole with Nancy Dodson officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole.
Casket bearers will be Bobby Hasbell, Mike White, Boo James, Michael Jordon, Derrick Jackson and Tommy Monks.
Honorary bearers will be Kenny Mooney, Dustin Dooley and Correy Bennett.
Funeral services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
Nancy Herndon
Nancy Jo (Wood) Herndon, long time Seminole county resident passed away Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012 at Shawnee at the age of 60.
Nancy was born Jan. 9, 1952 in Wewoka to parents, Frazier Wood and Francis Burgess Tanyan.
She graduated from Byng High School and a member of the Seminole Indian Baptist Church of Konawa and a member of the Seminole and Creek tribes.
Nancy was a loving housewife who enjoyed her family and being with her grandchildren.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Dwayne Smith; three sons, Anthony Wayne Gibson of Holdenville, Erick Smith and Alisha Phillips both of Seminole and Dewayne Lee Smith and his wife, Karrie of Seminole; one brother, Lee Wayne Wood and his wife, Lauri of Denton, Texas; one grandchild, Payshence Phillips and one step grandchild, Laveah Beavers.
She is also survived by one uncle, Jonas Burgess of Seminole and two aunts, Martha Mae Palmer of Seminole, and Evelyn Puntka of Shawnee.
Nancy was preceded in death by her mother, Francis; father, Frazier Wood and step-father, Ed Tanyan; sisters, Jennifer Wood Tue and Jane Boydston and son, Horace Herndon Jr..
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10, 2012 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel at Seminole.
Officiating minister will be Rev. Bill Hobia. Burial will take place at Seminole Indian Baptist Cemetery, Seminole County.
Serving as casket bearers are Derick Henshaw, Ronnie Burgess, Tyler Boydston, Bobby Boydston, Josh Cross and Robert Wood.
A wake service will be held 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.
William Hickman
William Elmo Hickman, of Oklahoma City, was born February 4, 1943 and passed away January 11, 2012 at age 68.
He loved to hunt and fish and spend time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Peggy Hickman.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Bonnie; sister Nancy and her husband Bobby Rutherford of Rockport, TX; five daughters, Melissa and her husband Tony Bevelhymer of Wewoka, OK; Regina Olsen of Seminole, OK; Karin and her husband Chris Fitzpatrick of Yukon, OK; Kim Hickman and her partner Susan Kanter of Littleton, CO; Jennifer and her husband John Craig of Fort Smith, AR; and grandchildren Lauren Olsen, Adam and Shay Bevelhymer, Matthew Olsen, Amanda and Nick Morrison, Brooke Fitzpatrick, Andrew Bevelymer, Emily Craig, Sarah Craig, and Molly Fitzpatrick.
Memorial Service will be 3:00 p.m. Friday, January 13, 2012 at Smith & Kernke Funeral Home 1401 NW 23rd Oklahoma City, OK 73106.
George Higdon
George Kenneth Higdon, 82, longtime Seminole resident died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012 at his home in Seminole surrounded by his loving family.
George was born April 29, 1930 in Seminole to Luther and Kate Ruth (Gurley) Higdon.
George lived all his life in Seminole and attended Pleasant Grove Schools and graduated in 1948.
George was a self-employed oilfield consultant and worked in the Seminole oilfields for over 45 years, retiring in 1987.
George went back to work in 1988 for Seminole Public Schools as a bus driver and later drove the Senior Citizen bus for Seminole he was very active in community affairs and enjoyed donating his time screening children for vision problems at local elementary schools.
George was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Seminole. George was also a member of the Seminole Masonic City Lodge # 476, K.C.C. H & McAlester Consistory and Scottish Rite, had reached the highest degree of a 33rd degree mason.
George was very active as a mason for over 55 years and served in all the local officer positions and was a member of the degree team # 28.
George loved fishing and enjoyed going with his family as much as possible.
George married Jennie Lee Rounsaville on June 6, 1949 at the First United Methodist Church parsonage in Seminole.
They were married for 63 years and had three children Kenneth D. Higdon, Karan Higdon and Keith Higdon.
His wife, Jennie Higdon, of the home; two sons, Kenneth D. Higdon and his wife Helen of Yukon and Keith Higdon of Lubbock, Texas survives George.
His son-in-law Bob Douthit of Seminole; his seven grandchildren, Scott Douthit of Seminole, George David Higdon of Moore, Bobby Douthit of Seminole, Bonnie Decker of Seminole, Becky Deer of Seminole, Candace Higdon of Shawnee, and Deana Byrd of Seminole along with sixteen great grandchildren also survive him.
He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents Kate and Luther Higdon; one sister Pat Padgett; his daughter Karen Ann (Higdon) Douthit, and his granddaughter, Jennifer L. Higdon.
Funeral services with Masonic rites will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday Oct. 29, 2012 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole. Officiating at the service will be Rev. Dave Karges and Rev. Glen Pence.
Casket bearers will be Scott Douthit, Bobby Douthit, George D. Higdon, Charles Byrd, Tyler Douthit, and Jay Kelly.
Honorary bearers will be Cotton Douthit, Bob Douthit and Charles Padgett.

Paul Higdon
Paul Clinton Higdon passed away April 22, 2012.
He was born July 22, 1934 the son of Dave and Edna Mills Higdon in Seminole.
Survivors include his wife, Darlene of Hutchinson, KS; son, Philip (Toni) of Topeka, KS; daughter, Tammy Higdon of Little Rock, Arkansas; step son, Mark Stark (Megan) of Colorado; two brothers, Tom (Jerri) of Benton, KS; David (Chris) of Hutchinson, KS; four grandchildren, Nathaniel and Kaleb Higdon, Christian and Hannah Brooks and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Norma Higdon and his first wife of 48 years, Alice Ann Russell Higdon.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 26, 2012 at Elliott Chapel with Jimie Wray Meade and Duane Eggleston officiating.
Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 27, 2012 at Vamoosa Cemetery, Vamoosa.
Friends may call 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., Tuesday and 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday with family present 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.

Urschel Hilterbran
Urschel Ray Hilterbran, 78, of Oklahoma City died Friday, June 1, 2012 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
He was a former longtime Seminole resident.
He was born Aug. 15, 1933 in Seminole to Ralph Simon and Pearley May (Morton) Hilterbran.
He managed convenience stores for Conoco-Phillips.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by daughter, Brenda Freel of Buchanan, Michgian; son, Ralph Wayne Hilterbran of Las Vegas, Nevada and five grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole with U.S. Navy Honors.
Rev. Carl Whitfield will officiate at the service.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
Viola Himes
Viola Himes, age 89 and former resident of Konawa died Sunday, April 22, 2012 at Rolling Hills Care Center in Catoosa.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 27, 2012 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa. Burial will follow a Konawa Cemetery. Rev. Mitch Williams, pastor of Byng Assembly of God Church will officiate.
Pallbearers are Michael Koman James Davis, Earl Warner, Steve Nelms, John Northweather, and James Northweather.
Viola was born Dec. 27, 1922 in Hollis to Edward Moses Thompson and Beulah Franklin (Sloan) Thompson.
She married Lee Himes on Feb. 16, 1971 in Gretna, Louisiana and worked in retail sales.
Viola is survived by one son, Gene Gregory of Cookson; two daughters, Brenda Northweather of Claremore and Linda Warner of Talala; two brothers, Emory Thompson of Houston, Texas and L.V.D. Thompson of Roseburg, Oregon; 14 grandchildren, several step-grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren, several step-great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren, and several step-great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Beulah Thompson; her husband, Lee Himes; two children, Glenda Stark and Jessie Gregory; two sisters and two brothers.
Thelma Hood
Thelma Hood, died Friday, April 13, 2012.
He was born Nov. 18, 1932 to Walter and Annie Hood in Earlsboro.
Thelma attended Douglas School and Dunbar High School.
His mother, father and eleven of his brothers and sisters preceded him in death.
He is survived by two daughters, Debra Lewis of Topeka, Kansas and Veronica Benard of Earlsboro; two sisters, Margie Logan of Oklahoma City and Winnie Mae Wilson of Fresno, California; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 21, 2012 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with James K. Grayson officiating. Interment will follow at Earlsboro Cemetery in Earlsboro.
Pallbearers will be Dewayne Daniels, Larry Jeffries, Russel Johnson, Eugene Daniels, Rodney Harris and Maurice Harris.
Honorary Bearers are Jimmy Gamble, Donnie Hardeman, C.D. Norman, Joe Brooks, Stanley Logan and Herman Hill.
