Daniel King

Daniel Izayah King, age five, of Seminole died Wednesday, Feb 15, 2012 in Seminole.

He was the son of Cynthia Mangum and Jeffrey Lovett of Seminole.

Daniel was born Jan 19, 2007 in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

Daniel was a rock star to his family, he loved playing soccer, jumping on his trampoline, swimming and playing his X-box.

He was a boy who loved life and was loved greatly by his family and will be greatly missed.

Daniel is survived by his mother, Cynthia Mangum and father, Jeffrey Lovett of Seminole; two sisters, Jasmine Hicks of Seminole, and Trinity King of Oklahoma City; two brothers, Jashon King and Mista Earl King both of Seminole. His grandparents Richard and Lorri Mangum of Seminole, and Sherry Sutliff of Seminole, survive him. Uncles Joshua Mangum, Ricky Mangum and an aunt Kathy Mangum and three cousins Matthew Jones, Aidan Mangum and Emma Mangum and a host of other aunts, uncles and family members in South Carolina that will also miss him dearly, also survived him.

His great-grandparents preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb 20, 2012 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, with burial at Little Cemetery. Rev. Carl Whitfield will officiate at the service.

Casket bearers will be Jeffrey Lovett, Brandon Dyke, Joshua Mangum and Ricky Mangum.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Bank NA, P.O. Box 40, Maud, Oklahoma 74854 in Daniel’s name.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.

Thelma King

Thelma Nita (Thompson) King, age 81 and a resident of Konawa died Friday, Jan 13, 2012.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Jan 17, 2012 at the Pentecostal Holiness Church in Konawa under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Konawa. Rev. Mona Fulks will officiate. Burial will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery.

The grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Thelma was born Aug 24, 1930 in El Reno, Oklahoma to Sam H. Thompson and Eva (Johnson) Thompson.

She married Fred King on Feb 5, 1952 in Tijuana, Mexico.

She moved back to Konawa in 1994 and was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Fred King of the home; two sons, Lee King of Choctaw and Fred King, Jr. of Oklahoma City; one daughter, Karen M. Sims of Ada; seven grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Eva Thompson, two sons, Francis J.R. King and Mark Gregory King; four brothers, Jerdan, John, Kenneth, and Francis Henry Thompson; and one sister, Hazel Garret.

Phillip Kirk

Phillip Bruce Kirk, age 63 of Spavinaw, OK passed away Sunday, Nov. 12, 2012 at his residence.

He was born Jan. 10, 1949 in Oklahoma City to James Noble Kirk and Bonnie Veneida (Smith) Kirk.

Kirk served in the marines during the Vietnam conflict, earning the rank of Corporal.

He later attended Oklahoma State University .

He retired in 2009 from Varsity Ford Lincoln Mercury as Secretary Treasure; Controller.

He is preceded in death by his father, James Noble Kirk and step-father, Kenneth Smith.

Survivors include his mother, Bonnie Smith of Flower Mound, TX; two daughters, Lisa Shannon Kirk of Tulsa, and Heather Kristen Collins and her husband, Chad Wayne Collins of Locust Grove; one brother, James Stanley Kirk of Bonham, TX; three granddaughters, Riann Morgan Collins, Kali Rose Collins, and Reese Addison Kirk; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Pall bearers will be Chad Collins, Ron Thurman, John Thurman, Justin Thurman, Steve Smith, and Jody Burton.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16 2012 at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jay Badry officiating and burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the PTSD Foundation of America in the name of Phillip B. Kirk at www.ptsdusa.net/donations or PO Box 690748, Houston, TX 77269.

Arrangements are by Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

Jerry Kirkland

Jerry F. Kirkland left this life on Oct. 12, 2012 to start a new journey with his wife Jeanne whom he married on May 9, 1963.

He also reunited with his parents Loise and Wynona Kirkland; two brothers, Johnny and Larry Kirkland.

Jerry served in the United States Air Force then went on to work at Tinker Air Force Base until his retirement in 1993.

Family members that are still here to celebrate his life are his brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and Sandra Kirkland of Blanchard; his son and daughter-in-law, Allen and Nyetta Rowell of Konawa; his daughter and son-in-law, Pam and John Allen of Tecumseh; his grandchildren, Tiffany Dougan, Randy and Brandy Dougan, Lance and Crystal Dougan, James and Katie Allen, Jerry Rowell, Keisha Rowell and Lori and Shawn Osborn. Jerry has 10 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, loved ones and friends.

All of his family would like to invite his numerous friends to join us to celebrate his life and memories.

Clara Kirkwood

Clara "Marvelle" Kirkwood, 75, and former resident of Konawa died on Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012 at St. Anthony Hospital in Shawnee.

Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 8th at Konawa Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Konawa. Rev. Mitch Williams, Funeral Director will officiate.

She was born March 21, 1937 in Konawa to Marvin Marion Kirkwood and Naomi Mae (Roland) Kirkwood.

She was currently a resident of the Shawnee Care Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Naomi Kirkwood and one brother.

Jimmy Klaus Sr.

Jimmy Leon Klaus, Sr., age 74, of Shawnee was born on Feb. 24, 1938, in Seminole.

He died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2012, in Shawnee.

He was the son of Frank Leon & Verna (McGehee) Klaus.

He graduated from Strother High School, Seminole, and proudly served in the U.S. Army.

He and Vivian were married on June 8, 1962, in Wewoka.

He retired from General Motors where he worked as a mechanic.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Vivian J. Klaus, Shawnee; son, Jimmy L. Klaus, Jr. of Tecumshe; three daughters, Brenda Jean Klaus of New York City, NY, Kathy Kim Brown of Moore and Sara Beth Klaus of Shawnee; step-son, Grayson L. Bedwell of Oklahoma City; brother, Bobby Klaus of Shawnee; sister, Mary Attebury of Paris, Texas; four grandchildren and three step-grandchildren.

Services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, 2012, at Little Cemetery Chapel, Seminole.

Interment will follow at Little Cemetery, Seminole.

Services are under the direction of Smith - Parks Funeral Service in Harrah.

Bob Klaus

Bob Klaus, 69, of Shawnee, passed away, Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012 in Shawnee.

Bob was born Dec. 19, 1942 to Frank and Verna (McGehee) Klaus in Prague, Okla.

He was raised in Strothers, Okla. and attended Strothers Public School and was a graduate of Strothers High School where he was the Valedictorian of his graduating class.

Bob raised his family in Tecumseh and has been a resident of the Tecumseh/Shawnee area for many years.

He worked for OG&E as a Supervisor for over 20 years before retiring.

Bob enjoyed fishing and golfing. He had a very outgoing personality and never met a stranger.

Bob enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and they were the focal point of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Jimmy Klaus

Bob is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Roger Klaus, of Shawnee, and Robert and Shara Klaus, of Avinger, Tex.; sister and brother-in-law, Mary and David Attebury, of Paris, Tex.; five grandchildren, Chasse Klaus, Dillon Klaus, Colton Klaus, Cortnie Klaus and Ashley Klaus; one great-grandchild, Lauren Dennis; and other extended family and friends.

Visitation will begin 12:00 noon, Friday, Dec. 14, 2012 and continue through time of service.

Family will gather to meet with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, Dec. 14, 2012 at Cooper Funeral Home.

Service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Victor Adams officiating. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Viola Knight

Viola Beulah (McIntyre) Knight, age 100 and a life-long resident of Konawa, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at Valley View Regional Hospital in Ada.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 27 at the Assembly of God Church in Konawa. Burial will follow at Konawa Cemetery. Rev. Steve Lowrance will officiate.

Pallbearers are Don Browder, Joe Abbott, Roger Abbott, Johnny Lee, Arvle Knight, and Larry Watts.

The family will receive guests from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday night.

Viola was born on Oct. 27, 1911 in Maxwell, Oklahoma to Buford A. McIntyre and Vinnie (Hinsley) McIntyre.

She graduated from East Central University with a Master of Education, and she taught school in the Konawa area for thirty-four years before retiring in 1976.

She married Floyd Cooper on Dec. 19, 1957.

In Konawa, on Nov. 14, 1981, Viola married Arvle Knight. Arvle was the pastor of Konawa Assembly of God Church for approximately forty years.

Viola’s hobbies included sewing, reading, and working in her yard. She enjoyed going to church where she served for many years as the church secretary.

Her 100th birthday was celebrated at the Assembly of God Church in Konawa in October.

She is survived by four nephews, Cloise McIntyre of Clayton, Oddis McIntyre of Clayton, Earnest McIntyre of Paris, Texas, and Jeff Woolwinde of Purcell; one niece, Delora Moore of Midwest City; three step-daughters, Wanda Jones of Tecumseh, Betty King of Ada, and Debra Watts of McAlester; numerous step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Buford and Vinnie McIntyre; her first husband, Floyd Cooper and her second husband, Arvle Knight; two brothers, Edgel McIntyre and Elmer McIntyre; two sisters, Ellen Carriger and Cora Graham; one nephew, Truman McIntyre; one step-granddaughter, Brenda Browder; and one step-great grandson, Benji Knight
